Hell hath no fury... like a pissed-off witch. And people wonder why Doc hates magic...
Doc may have made a terrible mistake toying with one of the most powerful witches in existence, and it’s not Abigail Jury! Edgar Achaean and his remaining Acolytes are far from finished, and if Doc can’t derail their plans ASAP, all his efforts thus far won’t mean a damn thing. In the face of annihilation, playing by the rules is not an option. Fortunately, Doc has never been one for playing by the rules. Unfortunately, some rules were never meant to be broken...

Hi, I'm M.M. Crumley Your Author Extraordinaire (Also Known as M.M. Boulder)
As M.M. Crumley I write Urban Fantasy books full of supernatural action, nail-biting-mystery and; laugh-out-loud humor. Why? Because stories, myths, and legends have always been a huge part of my life... As a child, I liked nothing better than to lose myself in a world where magic and heroes were part of the fabric of existence.
As my pen name M.M. Boulder I write psychological thrillers and murder mysteries that bring the darker impulses we may not feel completely comfortable with into the light. My stories are full of lies and deaths, but there is always justice. A type of justice that's not afraid to get its hands dirty. I write morally ambiguous characters who are pushed to their limits and take matters into their own hands. In my world getting away with murder has never been so much fun!
No matter what I write every one of my characters are real to me. They exist. They are three-dimensional beings who demand that their stories be told. If I were to turn away from them, they would haunt me; and so I don't. Instead I chase after them and write down everything they say!

Although Doc and Jury have defeated Bosch the danger is not over, Edgar Achaean is still out there with the Acolytes. While trying to track Achaean down, Doc also has to deal with the children he gave a favour to as well as fend off Abigail Jury – his flirting distraction sort of back fired. Again, there is a lot happening in this book – more about Doc’s background, action, suspense, mystery, surprises and the great interactions between the characters. Doc has no problem killing people and he also doesn’t have a problem with torture to get answers. I’m loving these books. And the occasional appearance of characters from the Graves books works well too. This can’t be called an easy read because there is so much happening but it’s not a difficult one. As with the previous books, the ending leads right into the next – sort of a cliffhanger. Definitely recommend.
Ruthless is the third book in The Immortal Doc Holliday series by M. M. Crumley.
Woah this book surprised me. I'm glad the author took the book in this direction. I wasn't expecting there to be anything remotely tied to Jury. Or rather any true suspicion to fall on him. However, his behavior throughout the book, tied in with that weird scene the book concludes with has left me curious and confused at what the all-powerful Jury Clan is hiding?
The antagonist in this book is somewhat tied to their family as well. Or rather an old and continuing foe has an unhealthy obsession with the more devious and departed ancestor they've attempted to wipe from history. Wow, they even went so far as to completely wipe out the branch of their family involving his lineage....
I'm concerned about Thaddeus.. I don't know if it's because this talking plant might be hiding something, or that he seems so very depressed, or some combination of the two? I do wonder if the author will ever write him as finding his body again? Or if that's even remotely a good idea, since he very obviously hasn't learned his enthusiasm and curiosity for forbidden knowledge isn't an excuse for justifying the nefarious ways in which he's willing to go about learning the answers to his questions.... I think there's only four options: the plant eventually dies, becomes a man again, become an antagonist, or continues as he is..
I really hope that Jervis and Sami end up together. They already seem like a good pairing, and I think that Jervis could only be improved by her joining him.... Unless she somehow manages to corrupt him, which is honestly the only way I can think of Jervis turning against Doc.
I also like the kids that have come into his life. Johnny, Jules, Addison, and Frankie bring an extra spice to the story. This childlike wonder and naivete, that seems the balance against all the death and chaos that represents Doc's every day. And he's pretty much already lost himself to their charms anyways.

When I started this series, it was primarily because I’m a big fan of the legend of Doc Holiday. To that end, I’ve not been disappointed. The part of the story which interested me the least was the Hidden. It’s just not very compelling to me. Unfortunately, with each book, it becomes clearer that the Hidden is the main focus of this story. I also wish Holiday hadn’t been turned into something so much larger than life that he seems nearly invincible. I find myself missing Doc at his Western roots. I’ll probably keep reading the series, because I enjoy Doc as a character. But I do find myself wondering. If the hero of this series was this character, but not named Doc Holiday, would I still be reading? I’m starting to have my doubts. This book took me weeks to get through. While part of that was due to life obligations and focusing much of my spare time on editing my podcast and prepping tabletop role playing game adventures, that certainly wasn’t the entirety of reason for my slow journey through this quick read. I want to take a break before reading the next one, but since these are all essentially one continuous story rather than stand-alone adventures, I don’t have the luxury of taking much of a break, lest I start to forget details. I’m giving this 3 stars because I like what I liked from the first book. I just wish there was some character growth here! Or go episodic and don’t worry about character growth! But … as it stands I’m finding each book feeling exactly like the previous one. And if that’s the case, why not just make it one big book? There’s something missing here. Still, there’s much to recommend here—which is why I’m finding my feelings about the series so far so perplexing. There’s plenty of banter, a lot of fun, if one-sided, action, and … well, if that’s all you’re looking for and you’ve read the other two books, you’ll probably love this one too. By the numbers, so should I.
I'm not as deep into this series as others are, however I have noticed a few things. 1) Sometimes Jury can be a a REAL wet blanket as it were to Doc's plans or ideas. 2) Doc kind of reminds me of Tony Stark in the playboy sense.. minus the money & tech. Also I think if I were friends with Doc, I'm not quite sure if I'd want to WORK for him as the job seems stressful whether you're at the hotel, 1 of the worms or what have you. I think I'd stick to like a shop keeper or someone that Doc relied on.
It occurred to me, as I was reading this third book in the series, that there's a lot of killing. I mean, even Mad Max would blanch at this much killing. What does it about us humans that we are so fascinated with killing? That aside, the series is only getting better. I was honestly wondering how it would continue now that The Problem was solved. Crumley managed to introduce a whole new problem, straight out of left field. Well played, author, well played.
This one was a bit more into the information and history of witches, which was helpful and a bit less in the blood. I'm sure that Doc was disappointed. I also liked how he handled his little problem with Mrs. Jury. That was outside of the box thinking. The head of an ancient ancestor was a nice touch for a villain and how a non witch was able to do magic. I'm also thinking that this is a set up for the next book. But unlike Doc Holliday, I don't take bets.
I liked this one for ability of telling the story and weaving in knowledge of the world Doc lives in. The complexity was in the background of the story and yet, I wasn’t overwhelmed of “Here is how things work.” Doc’s best Jury is hilarious and this book made me love their friendship even more than before. Plus handling family dynamics with your best friend’s family.
That was an interesting twist. I did not expect a few, hell many, of the twists and turns of this book. Didn't expect some of the little side quests?, not sure if that's the right word but i think it fits... but it was an extremely enjoyable story. Now to see what happens next!
This story starts right after the prior one. Like hours not days. Doc is a little more ruthless but for very good reasons. There are scenes of torture which might put off some, but it made sense in this story. Several time Doc seemed out of control, but we see new back story for him. Love it!!!
I cannot read this series fast enough. It just keeps building and building with every book and I am totally addicted. Please try this series of you like urban stories with high adrenaline. I highly recommend
These books are really enjoyable reading. There are a few bits that baffle me. When Doc and Jury go from talking to fighting doesn't always make much sense, but I suppose it's difficult to convey tone in a book. I have enjoyed reading this one quite a lot.
Still batting 1000, on keeping the fast paced action going
A constant action on several levels, Doc still hunting The Acolytes, dodging Jury's mother, and the 3 children. The ending to the acolytes is a surprise. Then a tease for the next book.
Exciting easy read that kept me entertained. Introduced many more fascinating characters to build upon for future storylines. I am looking forward to Book four.
Interesting twist for the villain. Also, a little foreshadowing on who Doc may actually be? Also, the witch hound, amazing work. I hope the Jury's have their affairs in order, cause Doc's after them.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 17 of "The Immortal Doc Holliday" series. I grabbed the first one because I desperately needed something to read, and was immediately hooked! My biggest complaint is that I have to wait ALMOST A YEAR for book # 18
This series does not disappoint. I highly recommend it. The relationship between Doc and Jury alone makes these books a great read. On to the next adventure!
