An unexpected friendship deepens, while an unexpected love threatens their future.
At twenty-six, Grace Embry is a success story—loving big sister, successful entrepreneur, loyal best friend—to everyone but her mother. What does she lack? A diamond ring on a certain finger. While her best friends settle down, Grace is no closer to finding love than she was in college when one man stomped on her now-fragile heart.
It’s been over a year since Reid Pruitt lost the girl he presumed he’d spend his future with to another man. He’s moved on, but his ego remains bruised. At least he has Lockwood Blooms. Though, the breakdown of the Lockwood family has everyone on edge.
Thrown together by chance, Reid and Grace share their mutual woes. They’re both chasing the wrong people, both confused, and both looking for forever. The answer seems obvious, but love stories are never easy.
This is the third installment in a four-book series. While the romance stands alone, the plot is a continuation of the events occurring in previous books. It is recommended you read the series in order.
Hi! Mindy Michele is the co-writing duo of sweet romances with low to medium heat, such as the Paper Planes Series, the Seaside Pointe novels, and The Archer and His Rosebud.
We’re pretty awesome! We like singing in the car, eating white cheddar popcorn, and going on road trips together. You’ll find us sharing a table at a few book signings each year. We have a love of romance, New York, anything sweet, and great books.
To find out more you can hunt us down on social media. We’re all over the place!
This is another grand slam for Mindy Michele and the Seaside Pointe series! With each book I find it more difficult to decide which is my favorite.
This was an unexpected story for me. It didn’t read like I expected it to, and I loved it! Satin & Grit follows Grace and Reid. I did not see this pairing coming, but what a great pairing it is! Grace is Chloe’s friend and Reid is Chloe’s ex-boyfriend. (How’s that for some mixed tropes? Oh, and there’s even another trope mixed in there, too, that I won’t mention here. Chloe is from book 1, Blossoms & Steel. If you haven’t read that one yet, stop here and go read it now!)
Grace hasn’t been in a relationship since her on-again/off-again boyfriend dumped her years ago. Reid is over Chloe, but hasn’t gotten back into the dating scene yet. Although they’ve known each other since they were kids, their friendship is only a recent development. Both of them are still finding themselves, so finding each other is not a quick process.
Usually it’s very formulaic in this genre. I was thrown off course and found it refreshing that Reid and Grace had much less “together” time than typical couples in the genre have. Over halfway through I was still not entirely convinced that the two of them would definitely end up together. (Of course, logically I knew they would, but circumstantially it was still questionable.) Throw in an OW and an OM and I was left wondering even more.
I guess I’ve gotten used to the typical formula many authors tend towards, and I loved that this one was different. It was still sweet-sexy, but much less descriptive than others in this genre, and even this series.
The Seaside Pointe novels are interconnected, although each book features a different couple’s story. The book technically ends on a cliffhanger, but Grace and Reid’s story is complete. The cliffhanger is about the feud that began in a previous generation and continues on throughout the series. So, to get a full and complete feel for the books, they are best read in order. And, trust me, you will not be disappointed that you read them all. Happy reading!
Satin & Grit by Mindy Michele a heart-pounding five-star read. This is number three in the Seaside Pointe series and well you need to read them all in order to get the absolute best, as this series only deserves the absolute best. This one had my heart all over the place, I didn’t know what to decide, I was up, I was down, I loved Grace, I wanted to shake Grace and then she fully won me over and has me wanting to jump on board with her mother. This has it all, there is drama a plenty, romance a smatter, and action that will shock. I will be honest there were a couple of points in this story that did make me wonder, but overall, it packed a mighty punch. I am so eager for number four, it can’t come soon enough, I need to know what happened next. Well done to both of you, this is a great story and the series that just simply blows you away like a strong breeze from the sea.
Mindy Michele turns familiar tropes on their heads with this one! I was almost a third into it before I figured out who the main couple was going to be. These two write the most delicious stories. Each book in this series is so different but have an underlying mystery threaded between them. I can't wait for the next installment!
You definitely needed to read the other two books before you read this one. You find out more of the storyline that has slowly coming out in the other two books. With this book you will want to shout at them, you see the story twist one way then another, before ending in a happy way. But then you are thrown into another major twist! I would recommend reading this when you have the time to sit down and read in one session, as you will not want to put it down.
Reid and Grace are the best couple in the best way. This slow burn romance left me wanting more with every page. The humbleness of the characters pulled on my heart strings. Highly recommend!
Book number 3, where do I even begin. Mindy and Michele have done it yet again and this series just keeps on getting better and better.
This book breaks all normal tropes and provides such a refreshing and realistic story of two people who didn’t know love was right in front of them.
Grace is Chloe’s best friend and the towns fashionista. She’s beautiful, independent, strong minded, but with a longing to simply be loved and loved well.
Reid is Chloe’s ex boyfriend and one of the towns most loyal hardworking hunks. He’s tall, handsome, good with with his hands (take from that what you will 😜), and another lost soul looking for his soulmate.
The book sees both Grace and Reid trying to navigate their way on different paths; both sure of what they want, but unsure of who they want it with. Their paths begin to intertwine, and their friendship begins to blossom taking them in a completely new and unexpected direction.
You get the impression that the story will be very straight forward and easy to predict, but in true Mindy Michele fashion, surprise after surprise (or maybe bombshell is the right term) comes round every corner.
And what about the rest of the seaside crew you say? Don’t you worry, you get the pleasure of seeing them a lot more, but also getting to know some new and unexpected ones too. Oh and maybe, just maybe, we get some more Denton and James juice… and believe me, it’s getting juicy!
If you loved the first two, I know you’ll love this one! It’s refreshing, it’s happy, it’s full of unexpected surprises and it may have one little cliffhanger… Hehe.
I took forever on this book through no fault of its own. I started a new job that has taken over every moment of my life. And those moments I am not reading, has been spent moving us to another state. But I have to say, I have enjoyed taking my time with this one and peeling back the many layers of Reid and Grace.
I never once disliked Reid from his time with Chloe. I knew their was no chemistry between them, therefore they were not the other’s person. I wanted more for him. But I never did think I would want to hear his story. Until now. Because I fell hard for him. He is definitely one of the good ones. Especially with how he handled the growing feelings with Mia.
This story really was fantastic and the slow burn romance was beautifully and brilliantly told. And I love how, with each book in the series, we learn a little more about the Lockwood/Harris feud. More and more puzzles pieces are connecting and coming together. What are these men hiding?? I have my thoughts but I am holding them close to my chest. 5 Stars!
No surprise the authors knocked this one out of the park!
Book three in the series centers around the ultimate bbf Grace and the better as a friend Reid from books one and two. They share an easy to come together relationship as they bond over food, baseball, and living in a small town. When life throws a huge curve ball at them just as they start to really understand their feelings things heat up in the most unexpected ways! That good old past always has a way of showing up again.
I adore this book and these people in it! The small town, always known each other, but suddenly see a person in a different light makes my heart mush. Straight up mush! It was such a good read and leave us with a huge cliffhanger that I can not wait to read about in the next book.
Wow!!!!! I was NOT a fan of Reid in the first 2 books but he defiantly redeemed himself in Satin and Grit!! Opposites attract is the theme I'm giving this book in the series. Reid and Grace are so different and the whole awkward " he dated my best friend" issue is there, but these two authors do a fabulous job of making this into a believable and fantastic story!!! I love that these two characters have some back story before and really have to find themselves before they find each other. This is a great book but even better because of the first 2 books in the series. Another great read and I CANNOT WAIT FOR #4!!!!!!
I can not get enough of this series! I'm left on another cliffhanger where I'm dying for the next book already. The twists and turns that this book took me on had me flipping the pages almost faster than I could read. I love both Grace and Reid and having their stories come to life just made my heart so happy.
Sometimes we’re so desperate to find someone, we hold onto the wrong one—or the idea of the wrong one— for too long. This line stuck with me for so long. I started off slow on this one, family got covid and I basically quit reading for a bit, but I kept coming back to it. And Oh Man am I glad I did! This may be my favorite one yet! 😍 Of course it doesn't hurt that Ridley (Really Gross and Ray-Gun) was mentioned.....now I'll just be over here re-reading their backroads duet because I just can't get enough of this duet!
Mindy Michelle did it again! I really enjoyed reading Satin & Grit. The romance was a bit slower to evolve than the two previous books, but not in a bad way. The pace gives the reader an opportunity to get to know Grace and Reid as individuals before they really find their relationship. There was some unexpected situations in this book and more mystery surrounding the old family feud as well as some mystery about a certain character. I would 100% read these in order because it develops more with each book even though they are all separate main characters. Satin & Grit ends on a bit of a cliff hanger and leaves you eager for more. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Reid and Grace are the best couple in the best way. This slow burn romance left me wanting more with every page. The humbleness of the characters pulled on my heart strings. Highly recommend!
I loved the slow burn of this book. It still held my interest the entire time, but didn’t have the same frenzy as book #2. I learned to love Reid and Grace and love the twists and turns that were in the book. I certainly didn’t see it coming! A great romance, but not as predictable as some, which I always appreciate as a reader. Quite the cliffhanger for book #4 too! I can’t wait!

This one was unexpected for me. I wasn’t positive from the start just who the duo would be in this third book of the Seaside Pointe series, and that made the book all that more enjoyable! I’m loving the little references to the authors’ home towns. My heart does a bittersweet happy dance after each of these books because I’m excited to dive into the next one but sad when they end!
You won't be disappointed with this one. Grace and Reid were... unexpected. I really thought Grace was going to end up with someone else but she ended up with exactly who she was supposed to. You just never know where you're going to find love. Sometimes it is right in front of your face. It just takes a minute to see it.
I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I have to be honest. I wasn't a fan of Reid from books 1 and 2. Now I know why. He wasn't with who he was supposed to be with. He deserved a happy ever after just like Chloe. I am definitely a fan of Reid now. I maybe say this in every Mindy Michele review I write, but they know how to write good men. Really truly good men.
You will definitely want to read books 1 and 2 in order to get the full backstory and so that you can try to piece together the mystery that's happening in the background of the books.
Are you ready? Satin & Grit comes out on 9/2/2021. Go pre-order your copy now.
