A crash course on the Roman Empire that starts from its formation and concludes with its downfall. To the point and a quick read, but also in-depth as it talks about everything from Roman emperors and military tactics to gladiators and food. A must for history buffs. The book is slightly academic but not at all boring and apt for general readers. It’s also perfect for children. Very well written, but could have done with a few photographs for a bit more visual explanation. Excited about reading the next in the series.
Note: I received an advance review copy of this book for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Now this is how you do a history book. I love learning about how we used to live and what we perceived as right/wrong or good/bad, I'd like to have been around when Rome was at its peak and also when The Samurai were swinging swords around like manic violent ballet dancers.
I think if you want to dip your toe into Roman history then this is the place to start it gives you a nice informative overview of what was what as well as the who's who. I believe they've also did one on the Vikings if that's more your thing then it may be worth a looksee.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review through booksirens.
Organised and brief guide to all aspects of Roman life, really enjoyed the sections about military weapon and tactics, but the mythology section was very short and not entirely accurate which was disappointing considering the importance of Roman gods in the culture. Also some typos, but other than that, a quick and informative read
I wanted a concise summary of the rise and fall of the Roman Empire that included all aspects of its culture and accomplishments. I highly recommend it.
Fairly straightforward book, if you enjoy reading snippets of information, this is your book. Even with a degree in classical studies I learned some fascinating information on Roman battle strategy, and just daily life in the Empire.
I found the mythology and military sections very interesting. A good read that covers many of the aspects of the Roman Empire, culture, lifestyles and beliefs.
