Not actually this edition used.

A somewhat strange attempt to cast shade on Shakespeare's Falstaff plays by dredging up a row which was actually cooling down by that point - the earliest versions of Shakespeare's plays called Falstaff "Oldcastle", much to the annoyance of the real Oldcastle's descendants, which, awkwardly, included the Lord Chamberlain's Men's patron, Lord Chobham.

The play sets out to demonstrate how very unlike Falstaff the real man does, but includes a great swathe of theological politics and, to counterbalance that, a knight who drinks, whore and robs people, called Sir John (of Wrotham). Also some bizarre disguising, costume-swapping and implausible Irish accents.

Entertaining almost despite itself, it stops very abruptly. The second part has not survived.
