Reminders were for traitors.
My father used to whisper that in my ear when I was young, while the still smoking gun dangled at his side.
I understood the rules, and what was expected of me, even as my mother made the deal.
I had absolute freedom to do as I pleased, as long as I obeyed:
Return to his home at twenty-one, do not make him come looking...and do not jeopardize my impending union with Markos Marino.

Now, months away from my twenty-first birthday, and I'm not only running out of time and creative ways to avoid my upcoming marriage, but I also have a bit of a situation that I can't exactly hide. It's one to surely come with a reminder...because in this, I haven't been loyal...and I most certainly haven't followed the rules.

After reading Mallory and Decker's story in Wild Card, I was so ready for Taylor's in this book. We also were introduced to Mallory's best friend Juan and I really liked him in book 1. We saw his playful and carefree side - In this one we see his possessive and ruthless side. I liked this new side of him... A lot!

Taylor didn't grow up with a silver spoon in her mouth. She instead grew up with cruelty and terror. Her mom did her best, but it wasn't until she met Mallory's dad that things started turning around for her. She has steel walls around her heart and has the mean girl act down well. She is hurting and alone, but masks it well. She has lots going on and she is drowning. She needs a lifeline.

Juan was book boyfriend material. I really, really liked him. He was hot and such an alpha! I was worried that his character would get swallowed up by Taylor's since hers is SO big, but he held his own. He didn't let her get by with the games alone and he played just as well as her, if not better.

Man, did these two have intense chemistry. They were scorching!
There was tons packed into this book - suspense, forced roomies, enemies to lovers and twists that you don't see coming! This was sweet and sexy. The perfect read!

King of Hearts is the second book of the Rake Forge University series. I’ve been anticipating this book since the previous one and because of these characters that were briefly introduced. We finally get to know more about Juan and Taylor and the amazing connection they have and continue to build.

Ashley Muñoz never fails to make me easily fall in love with her characters. This book had me on the edge of my seat!! I devoured it all and can I just say that the chemistry Juan and Taylor have is absolutely everything? They have this connection that builds throughout the story, making it hard to be ignored. They both have moments that make you feel for them. I loved reading them all. From the previous book I was always so intrigued with Taylor’s character and now having her pov I really love her. She is so strong. With Juan he’s easily become one of my favorite male characters ever!! I just love the moments he has with Taylor and how he cares about her and her baby.

King of Hearts was such an enjoyable read that brought out all the emotions! Together and individually, Juan and Taylor are amazing. These two characters bring out the fiercest parts of each other and that’s what makes them explosive. I’m excited for what’s to come in the series!

This is the slow burn, enemies to lovers, scorching hot story of Juan and Taylor. They thrive on being mean and harsh to each other but this is just a facade so they can keep their hearts safe.
Juan is Taylor’s sister best friend so they’ve known each other for a while, he’s so mean to her she doesn’t understand how her sister loves him so much. The thing is they both have feelings for each other, but they both also have very dark family secrets. Taylor is expecting a baby from a man that was just a fling, he’s not in the picture and Taylor wants to step up her game and be the best mom she can be, except her dark father has other plans for her when she turns 21 (which is only few months away). Despite Juan’s efforts for keeping Taylor as far away as possible, she’s in a situation that no one else can help her out and he steps in. This will only result in both of their dark worlds colliding and creating a war larger than life.
This book is full of angst and hotness personified in Juan Hernández! The hot guy everyone eyes, the good boy that tries to please his family, the good friend that always tries to be there for others. But don’t let all this goodness fool you, Juan will rip you apart if you ever dare to mess with what he believes is his, Taylor included! not only as Mallory’s sister but also as the woman that makes him feel whole.

This book is absolutely amazing! So many emotions, so much banter, so many hot scenes! The angst was crazy high!
I loved the use of Spanish for some of Juan and his family’s interactions. It made me swoon every time he called Taylor, Preciosa 😍
Ashley managed to write a magnificent book after an amazing first book in the series ❤️

I was able to read this book in advance as an ARC.

Let me start of by saying I could not put this book down. I was sucked in from the first chapter. Taylor and Juan’s story is so real and gritty. Taylor is a misunderstood young woman who is forced into an impossible situation so she uses her body as a way to cope. She ends up getting pregnant by a man who is just looking for a good time leaving her a single mother with no one to turn to. Juan has always had feelings for Taylor- whether it be annoyance or lust. Juan finds Taylor living in her car and swoops in to save the day (while being his usual alphahole broody self).

The twists and turns this book took had me on the edge of my seat. The push and pull between Taylor and Juan had me wanting to shake them! I loved Wild Card and thought nothing could top it.. and then I read Taylor and Juan’s story.

Taylor is a FMC that a lot of women and girls can relate to. She has massive insecurities and under the snobby demeanor is a girl who is looking for her place in the world. Juan is the ultimate book boyfriend- alpha to the max, don’t touch her vibes and the way he takes on Taylor’s pregnancy as if he’s the father🙌🙌 swoon. 5/5 would recommend. I’m so excited to read Kyle’s story next!

DAMN! What to say and where to start?!
This book was definitely so much more than I was expecting, and I mean that in a good way. Despite having read the blurb, I loved that the book still managed to surprise me and ended up being so much more than what I thought.

Once again Ashley Munoz came through and did it again with another great book from the Rake Forge University series.
Kings of Hearts tells the story of Taylor Beck (Mallory’s younger step sister), Juan Hernandez (Mallory’s best friend) and the craziness that is their world, including family and friends, their past and their love-hate relationship towards one another.

Let me just state if you were thinking King of Hearts was just going to be a simple Enemies to Lovers trope story, then think again. That was not the case AT ALL. It was so much more, with a deeper depth that had you falling down the narratives abyss.
It was definitely a whirlwind rollercoaster ride of a story, with all the drops, loops twists and turns and hurdles. The constant of one after another had you not wanting to put down the book, considering how you became engulfed in everything that was Taylor and Juan.
While there were a few moments where the pace of the story felt slow and dragging to me, a majority of it was smooth sailing. Ultimately leading to a narrative that was fulfilling like a sandwich, having a little bit of everything that you enjoyed. From the drama surrounding Taylor and Juan that either involved and/or came from their family. Including the chaotic-ness that was their lives, with their past intervening. To the suspense and mystery surrounding the secrets that were starting to come out and unravel, leading to some surprising moments and revelations. Plus the angsty moments of course, given how emotionally charged the overall story was. It definitely led to an outpouring of strong emotions and feelings, only to sometimes result in some overly heated Spicy and Fiery steamy moments between Taylor and Juan. Then again given Taylor’s condition, Ashley made sure not to skimp out on bringing as much sexual pleasure fulfilment given the amount of explosive Red-Hot, Sexy time.

While Ashley Munoz definitely tugged on your heart strings with the emphasis on the deep emotions and feelings felt throughout this story. At the same time, for every heavy moment that was filled with strong intensity sentiments, she counteracted it by giving lighthearted moments to make you feel at ease. Leading to laughter and happiness, especially when it came to the few times of enjoyment within the constant back and forth bickering and fighting like children between Taylor and Juan.
One thing that was obvious despite everything Taylor and Juan endured and put each other through with the pushing and pulling. It was obvious from the get go whether they wanted to acknowledge it or not, they were meant for one another. Ultimately being each other’s endgame. Especially given despite everything they went through in this hectic rollercoaster ride of a story, they always seemed to either go back or find their way back to each other.

Ashley did a great job with writing Taylor and Juan’s story.
King of Hearts was truly an amazing book with a lot of depth given the emphasis on the nitty grittiness that is showcased throughout.
And with that ending, it is safe to say I can’t wait to read Kyle’s story The Joker in the Rake Forge University series.

Ashley has outdone herself again... Taylor and Juan's life were so similar, yet despite their infamous backgrounds, neither was wise to the others. Having grown up in a lifestyle that they both hated and rejected, little did they know they had so much in common. Although drawn to one another, they still thought of and brought out the worst in each other. Taylor wanting him, yet rejecting him for fear for his life and Juan fighting an attraction to the spoiled rich girl. The fates still saw to throw them together in a crazy situation after Juan found Taylor homeless, but still defiant. Their tale was further intertwined after her father tried to bring her back to fulfill her commitment, but was that her destiny? Pregnant by another and scared to test the gods even more, Taylor went along with her "fake romance to provide safety for her unborn child. Along the way, we get to see that the feelings and attractions grow stronger each day, no matter how they fought it. Juan truly was a great guy, rescuing Taylor time and again, proving he was worthy to be the King of her Heart. Thank you, Ashley for another great read!

Wow! What a fantastic book. I devoured this delicious read in one sitting.

My emotions have been flipped and flopped all over the place with this one, but I do have to declare right now that I freaking LOVE Juan!
Swooning over here!!

The angst and heat between Taylor and Juan is enough to grab yourself a few cold showers.
Taylor gave the impression she was something and someone she was not, and that is how Juan seen her. So many misunderstandings between them.
It's a war of two clashing people!!

I had read the blurb and was so super excited to start reading King Of Hearts but I don't think I was really prepared for how good their story was going to be. It was beyond that.
I cannot wait for book 3.
Ashley Muñoz has done a fantastic job with this book and I would absolutely recommend reading.......
When it's released. 😉

Ok, I know I need to talk about the white hot chemistry between Taylor and Juan that totally burned up my kindle time and again. And I need to talk about the fact that Juan and Taylor bring a whole new meaning to both enemies to lovers annnnndddd slow burn because OMG I lost count of the number of times I almost chucked my kindle (Ashley, I don’t have protection coverage on that thing!). However, the first thing I really need to talk about are the jaw dropping twists and turns laced throughout this entire story!! There were several times that I said “NO WAY” out loud while my family looked at me like I was crazy (ok, they already look at me like that but that is besides the point…).
In all seriousness though, this story brought the spice, the suspense, the heartbreak and the redemption. There were some intense moments that I couldn’t read fast enough and other moments that were so sweet that I read a little slower to savor them. This is one of those books that delivers everything you are looking for and even more of what you didn’t know you needed. I am hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next book.

I absolutely loved this second book in the Rake Forge series! After getting to know Taylor in the first book, I was so excited to learn that she was getting her own. This book has me hooked from the very start and kept me there to the end. This enemies to lovers book is jammed packed with off the charts chemistry! The push and pull between Taylor and Juan is so intense. They both have jaded pasts. Taylor is very much misunderstood and wears her armour well. Juan is a stand up guy who will take care of anyone he deems his. I enjoyed all the angst in this book and how it kept me on the edge of my seat! I can’t wait for more in this series!

I mean wow, hit'em with all the feels! I've got emotional whiplash from Taylor and Juan. We got to meet these two in Wild Card and boy do we take a dive into the secrets these two have been keeping. Taylor has been living her life because of a deal her biological father has made when she turns 21, which leads to an unexpected surprise for Taylor. Juan is Mal's best friend and has been around with these two while at school. Juan has his life set until his past and family make an appearance, which causes him to reevaluate his life. However, Juan and Taylor are constantly popping up in each other's lives since Taylor's sister Mal, but these two thrive off being mean to each other and ignoring the truth, causing a lot of heartbreaking moments that make you want to knock some sense into them. Until, one day these two see each other again and their lives become interconnected. Juan and Taylor have quite similar backgrounds and secrets that will pull them together, but cause both of them to go into denial. King of Hearts will rule your heart, you will get sucked in from the start and your heart will be pummeled, but slowly put back together by moments that will make you feel all the feels! Don't miss out!

Slow burn isn’t usually my jam, unless Munoz is the one writing it, and then I am all for it.
Taylor and Juan are giving us the enemies to lovers, without being so blatantly hateful to one another. Just enough to fuel the fire, not overwhelm the fire department.
The balance is spot on.
There were a few loose ends, obviously to pave the way for the next book in this series, plus the return of a few characters from the first book.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed.

Juan loves playing hockey and wanted to play in the NHL. His family business has other plans for him. When he finds out his best friends sister is sleeping in her car he jumped in to help her out. Finding a place for her in his home is one thing, but what will he do with her having space in his heart. Taylor is a college senior and is pregnant. She wants to finish school and raise this baby. Taylor has some major dysfunctional family drama going on that could destroy her life. Can Juan and Taylor have a safe and healthy relationship or will this end ugly? This was a great emotional read. Taylor was literally a hot mess and Juan is really sweet and supportive with her. Besides dragging a little in the beginning, the book had a great pace and I enjoyed the way it flowed. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

WOW Taylor and Juan’s story is a rocky, whirlwind of a story. These two are very strong willed, hard headed and stubborn.
Taylor is the daughter of a well known ruthless Hungarian mob boss who has promised his daughter to another boss Marcos Mariano as part of a deal that they have made when she was 13 years old. But Taylor has been in love Juan for the last 4 years but she can’t risk Juan life for a chance at happiness so she pushes him away.
Juan is also the son of a known gang leader and is also Taylor’s stepsisters best friend. Juan gets drafted by the local hockey team but things take a turn and he loses his position on the team. He has no idea what he is going to do with his life now until things take a turn for the worse forcing his hand to get into the life of a gang leader which he has been trying to resist.
This book is an amazing must read.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Reminders were for traitors. My father used to whisper that in my ear when I was young, while the still smoking guy dangled at his side. I understood the rules, and what was expected of me, even as my mother made the deal. I had absolute freedom to do as I pleased, as long as I obeyed: Return to his home at twenty-one, do not make him come looking...and do not jeopardize my impending union with Markos Marino.

If you are looking for a slow burn of my book, then you have found it. This is the story of Taylor and Juan and what a story it is. Taylor is a very misunderstood young lady who is forced into an impossible situation and to cope she uses her body and ends up getting pregnant. It really stinks for her that the father of the baby is a man who was just looking for a good time and leaves her pregnant with no one to turn to. My heart really broke for her and I really thought it was horrible that she didn't have anyone to help her out with anything at all, except Juan. She is also this really insecure girl and at times that comes off as her being snobby but all she wants to do is find her place in the world.
Juan is a young man that has always for as long as he can remember had feelings for Taylor. He is also a alpha male that is sometimes a butt and very very broody. Sometimes she irritates him to the point of madness and other times he just wants her so bad he can't stand it and might even be in love with her if he would just admit it. Maybe it is just lust but it sure didn't feel that way to me. Juan finds Taylor and she is living in the back of her car with her pregnant and saves her. But she's got a marriage to get to when she turns twenty one and she really really doesn't want to do it at all. But her mother made a deal with his father and he has to come home when he is twenty-one and marry a man she really doesn't even know. And her father isn't messing around and she knows better than anyone what her father does to people who need reminders. I loved these two and I really loved the way that Juan took care of Taylor and if you didn't know he wasn't the father of this baby you would think he was. But what's she going to do? She's got obligations and a father you do not mess with. Hold on tight and enjoy the many many twists and turns that are King of Hearts. I loved the first book Wild Card and if you haven't read this book then you really need to. You can read King of Heart without having read that book first but some of these characters are connected and you see them and get to know them as the series goes on.

After having read Wild Card i couldn't wait for more of this series! I started looking forward to this one as soon as i found out about it. I picked it up and got back into the Rake Forge University world! I so enjoyed this second installment!

Juan and Taylor's journey isn't an easy one. These two pulled me in from the get go! I was so glad that they were getting their very own book and that i got to dig deeper with them. I wasn't sure what all was going to happen in their story and It definitely kept me glued to my kindle. I loved that i went through all kinds of emotions with them throughout reading as well!

With King of Hearts, Ms.Munoz has created a great read that you won't want to turn away from! It was so awesome to get back into this series with this second book! I can't wait for more of the Rake Forge University world with the third installment, The Joker! Definitely check this series out!

A slow burn, with a ton of tension between two frenemies in a race against time.

Juan and Taylor have known each other for the past several years. Juan is the best friend of Taylor's sister and while Juan has an easy going personality around everyone else in his life, there is an instant friction that burns hotter than the sun when these two are in a room together.

Taylor knows she's abrasive, direct, doesn't make friends easily. Her upbringing didn't allow her to get close to anyone so she instantly pushes people away. Juan is no different, even though she's had a crush on him for years. She just knows better that to act on said crush since she's already promised to killer on her twenty-first birthday.

While reading the first book in the Rake Forge series will definitely give you insight into Taylor and Juan's characters and how Taylor ended up in her current condition, the plot itself is a standalone. Their romance is a slow burn, but these two burn bright with chemistry from the very beginning. They have enemies to lovers down pat and perfect the push and pull in a frustrating...JUST ADMIT YOU LOVE EACH OTHER ALREADY! LOL

Juan is pulled to Taylor in a way he doesn't understand and yet he continually pushes her away to save his own heart. Taylor also can't help how she feels, she's been attracted to Juan for years, but the moment she remembers what's in store for her as her birthday approaches she pushes him away. It's a story that broke my heart over and over at their circumstances, hoping they would find an answer to their problem.

A great addition to the Rake Forge series with lots of passion, emotion, and character development.

“King of Hearts” is a slow burn, angst filled, dirty delight. From the very first chapter until the epilogue, I could not put this story down.

We met Juan and Taylor in Wild Card and they pretty much had an insta-hate relationship. They thrive off of pushing each other's buttons just to see how the other would react. It’s a new school year and Juan is trying to get by and decide what team he is going to play hockey with. Taylor is pregnant and trying to figure out everything that comes with this major life change. Juan’s feelings for her have done a 180 and he’s feeling protective of her and her unborn child. He moves her into his house so she has a safe place to stay. However, both Juan and Taylor have secrets from their past that come back to light and cause a big problem.

Juan is overprotective, alpha yumminess. I loved his growly but super caring attitude with Taylor. His protectiveness was super hot and seeing both sides of him was a favorite of mine. And Taylor? While her bratiness annoyed me in “Wild Card”, she grew so much in this book. The spoiled girl was gone and a strong woman emerged. The plot twists of Juan and Taylor was something I was not expecting and I LOVED it. It added suspenseful thrill to add to the angst that Juan and Taylor had for each other. I cannot wait to see where Ashley Munoz takes the next book in the series to. I know it’s going to be epic.

Prepare to be completely blown away by this twisted tale of suspense, heartache, frustration, lies, secrets and devotion.

Oh my goodness I don’t know how many times I was internally begging this pair to get out of their own damn way!!! Seriously there is a lot to unpack in this story and as usual Ms Munoz does it in the most chest achingly, painful way!
This is slow burn, frustration, boiling hot chemistry and swoony adoration all wrapped in a perfectly crafted suspense full drama.
You thought you had a read on Taylor and her vacuous, spoilt rich girl attitude….you probably thought you had Juan all figured out as the great fun, joker best friend….well you have no idea! Full of moody, alpha surprises!!
Fantastic read as usual Ashley, thank you so much and can’t wait for the next one…that little teaser certainly fuelled my curiosity!

The second book in the Rake Forge University series was a complete surprise in a good way. I had expected Taylor and Juan's story to be drama and angst filled however I did not expect the direction it went in.

This is a slow burn story where both characters are antagonistic towards each other however that is hiding a mutual attraction. Taylor is pregnant from a one night stand and determined to prove to herself and others that she can be responsible and focused. Juan is many things, he's the good son, a loyal friend and a budding sports star. I enjoyed the back and forth between them, the way she pushes back every time Juan cuts her down. I didn't like the way he spoke to her at times even if it came from a place of frustration. Taylor just needed someone to be on her side I hated the way she spoke about herself at times and wanted to hug her.

I loved the twist the story took it added an extra layer to the story and quickened the pace which was welcome to me. It was slightly darker in tone from the previous book but it suited how Juan and Taylor's story developed.

WOW, I was completely surprised at the direction this book went in. I'm not entirely sure what I had imagined in my head for this book—but it WASN'T that. Wow. Just, wow.

Taylor and Juan absolutely frustrated me at times. The slow burn, the back and forth, the push, the pull... I wanted to jump into the book, shake them, and yell at them to stop being so stubborn!
But, all of that made the moment that they couldn't resist each other sooo much better.

This book was jam packed with suspense, snark, steam, and tension. There were moments of sweetness, moments that made me laugh, and moments that had me hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
IT WAS INTENSE.

After reading Mallory and Decker’s story in Wild Card, I was SO excited for Taylors story! I knew she was going to be so much more than the wild, party girl that she was portrayed as. Learning the little that we did about who her father is and what was expected of her told me exactly how tough Taylor really is. She really grew, and learned to stand on her own and I loved it.

Juan was the biggest surprise for me. I did NOT expect to love him so much. Him and Taylor were so hot and cold, and he was so harsh towards her at times that I didn’t know if I could love him… boy was I wrong. Big time. I am obsessed with how hard he loves Taylor and how much he’s willing to sacrifice to fight for her.

Cannot recommend King of Hearts enough!!! You’ll be sucked in from the very beginning and it’s a wild ride.

Taylor and Juan did not have an easy road to their relationship. Juan is her sister's best friend and although she has been crushing on him for years she messing up when she gets her first kiss from him. They have a rocky relationship over time, she finds out she is pregnant and even though he may have some resentment feelings towards her, he is the one that steps up to be there for her and the baby. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book.

Everybody deserves to be loved!

You think in Wild Card that Taylor Beck is usual rich girl partying her way through college, but you find out in King of Hearts that there is so much more to her, and nothing is what you expect but is what makes a good romance because that is what makes you want to read it.

Juan Hernandez’s dream has been to play hockey, but his mafia family gets in the way when he tries to pull away from them especially when he rescues Taylor Beck. But that makes the romance so good when Juan and Taylor go from enemies to lovers in this mafia romance that you need to read because it sucks you in!

P.S. Now I want to read the next book because it will be good!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and Wildfire Marketing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An enemies to lovers story that had me absolutely glued to the pages.

I've said on other books, un-put-down-able…and this is one, and I enjoyed every angsty minute!

Juan and Taylor, just wow. Sparks, heck no, FireWorks!!!

This second in the series; I think I loved it even more than the first; setting my expectations even higher. But, I'm betting Ms. Munoz will step up to the challenge and deliver another amazing story!

I can't wait!

This book was everything I wanted for Taylor and more. She really came into her own in this one (I have to admit, wasn't a fan of hers in Wild Card) and showed just how strong and resilient she is.
And then there's Juan, he is the perfect counterpart to Taylor and together, they will rule with an iron first and love just as hard
