Look, there are only 7 chapters out right now (thank you to douqi's STELLAR translation), but the brainrot has already taken hold of me. Logging this onto GR so I remember to check for updates lol.

The story doesn’t grab me. I also think the FL can be quite mean to the other characters. Granted, it’s done in a comedic way, but it still makes her unsympathetic to me.

I decided to read more wlw cnovels. If you're considering this webnovel, don't even bother with any translation or version except douqi's. Their translation is SUPERB. I was saddened to have to switch to the original CN version halfway through as this is currently only half translated. Though the original CN is written in a witty and humorous way that I enjoyed.

This is a lighthearted romcom with a poised and elegant eldest princess, and a simple, straightforward and imaginative bandit leader who is a lady in disguise. The bandit part is less prominent than expected. The two leads are forced into a marriage and then grow to fall in love with each other as they travel through the country. There are lots of funny and romantic moments and the plot is rather light.

Definitely recommend this funny and feel-good story.

I'VE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIMEEE THIS WAS SO GOOD HELLO. I can already see myself reread this anytime I need something light and heartwarming although some of the twists and angst got me gasping as well like damn!!
Wei Zisong and Chu Feichen are def a new favorite pairing of mine like are you kidding me, their intimacy, the banter, the chemistry, yes yes yes a thousand times.
The side characters aren't really well defined but they're still a fun and interesting addition and they bring heart to the story.

Still I will say I was not a fan of the plot device that got the story going at the beginning but that's really all it was so it doesn't matter that much in my eyes.

This spicy and delightful romantic comedy had me laughing out loud and blushing in public. The web novel features a touch of political intrigue, a sweet partnership, a few steamy bedroom scenes, and even a dramatic twist. Its length made it a perfectly bite-sized, amusing read.

I cannot say enough how impressed I am with the translator's work! This translation is my favorite of all time due to Douqi's remarkable personal touch. The effort and dedication put into this translation are evident. Without the translator's notes, numerous concepts and Chengyu would have been completely lost to me. Douqi offered me a deeper understanding of the story, significantly improving my reading experience.

Alt-historical baihe (Chinese FF fiction) romcom where a woman bandit chief (who was raised as and passes as a man) gets engaged to a princess. Wei Zisong is hilarious, in her mind she’s a heroic and gallant young bandit but in reality she’s a vapid dumbass. The other characters viciously mock her and anytime she tries to save face it backfires on her. This book is sooo queer, it’s a sapphic story but Wei Zisong also sets off the gaydar of every Achillean man in a 5 mile radius. She often thinks of herself as a man so I sometimes got trans vibes from her which may or may not be something the author intended. Unfortunately I didn’t like the ending, there was a betrayal that deserved a 100 page groveling arc but was forgiven far too easily to be satisfying.

There’s a reason I don’t do romcoms, namely my low tolerance for second-hand embarrassment either because of plot twists or main character/s repeated subpar decision making. Having a “fun” twist in nearly every chapter makes it tedious to read but I can also readily admit that I was in quite a lot of pain while reading this so that might explain my crankiness.

Wei Zisong, whose father is a small town government official (OR IS HE?), moonlights as a bandit chief whom her merry comrades gift a princess all gift wrapped and everything. We have the eldest imperial princess Chu Feichen who wants no husband but gets a wife instead through complicated plots and scheming. We have a maid who goes by the moniker of Silly Girl and a bodyguard whose name Wei Zisong doesn’t really bother to use, and a handful of other characters who are there mainly to add some flavor to scenes.

The first half of the book is basically a continuous tug-of-war between Zisong and the princess until they finally get to the official, imperial wedding part. We have so many twists and turns and puns and silly incidents that it’s hard to keep a count of all of them. At times it exasperated me to now end that the MCs couldn’t have even a single conversation without it turning into a pile of misunderstandings.

The story is in POV 1st person aka Zisong, and she truly is an unreliable narrator. Ch 49 is a surprise speedrun POV the princess and weirdly, the final ch also POV the princess which was just stupid because the ending would’ve worked better if ch 51 and 52 were swapped.

To make it absolutely clear: this wasn’t a shit book! The text was pleasant to read and the translation was well done. It made me smile several times and there’s even a couple of smutty scenes. It just wasn’t for me. My tastes just lean on the darker and angstier side which is probably why I enjoyed the last 10 ch more than the rest of the book combined.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I found myself bending down, bringing my lips closer to hers. We were both women, after all. It wasn't such a big deal for me to give her a kiss, was it?

My first ever baihe and I'm glad this was what caught my eyes. The overall story line was simple and packed with lighthearted scenes, it was mainly focus on the love story between our main characters and their growth from times to times. We had a bit of twist and turn but nothing too much.

I sat next to the bed, trying to cajole and intimidate her by turns, I called her 'my lady', I called her 'madam', I called her 'meimei, I called her 'grandma' — I called her every single term of address I could think of a woman, all to no avail.

All the characters here were also very likable. Wei Zisong was such a funny girl, especially reading her inner monologue lmao Silly girl and Zhong Liang also deserve more depth to their characters as I think they also hold an important part of the story.

Definitely recommended for anyone who is longing of a love story that will make you grin and giggle to yourself!

Through an unlikely series of events, the all mighty bandit chief Wei Zisong, finds herself entangled with Chu Feichen, the emperor’s eldest daughter and ends up marrying her.

MC's internal thoughts are hilarious at times and heart wrenching at other moments. I found the FL to be a mystery until the very end. Thought she was one of those scheming princesses, but she just turned out to be a heartbroken girl who learns to love again.

Absolutely loved this and highly recommended! It's funny, has romance and a bit of angst.

What a great read. It has everything you could ask for. Funny interactions between the main character and everyone basically. Apart from the comedy and the main couple's caring for each other the book knew when to get dramatic and down to business. All in all very enjoyable, funny and interesting story.
