Dolan, a private investigator and former Army Ranger, takes up the case of a missing seventeen-year-old girl in the story of Hell in the Mountains.
The missing girl has likely been abducted, but the cops are doing nothing. And the clock is ticking.
Dolan soon finds himself racing to the secluded mountains of North Carolina, in search of the girl, and he finds himself increasingly in over his head.
The trail is cold. There's a dirty cop involved. And the clues are few and far between. Hang onto your seats if you pick up this book. The pace is searing.

My name is Stan R. Mitchell, and I write exciting, fast-paced thrillers. Both military action and mystery whodunnits. I’ve written ten books to date, and been really fortunate to have sold more than 70,000 books. If you’re one of those readers, thank you.
Some of my favorite authors and influences are Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, Robert B. Parker, and Stephen Hunter. If you enjoy reading them, then more than likely you’ll enjoy my writing.
Hell in the Mountains (Previously published as "Stolen Daughter.") By Stan R. Mitchell is a book about kidnapping and trafficking and the first story about privat investigator Dolan. Dolan is not very cheerful or successful but he can't refuse a case of a missing teenage girl. He is soon convinced that there is foul play and he goes on the hunt. Great suspense story from a great author. You should check him out.
Dolan had a good career with the Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation and he was good at his job. He had a good home, a wife and teenage daughter. When he came home early one day and found his wife in bed with another man, and did what any self respecting husband would do, beat the crap out of the guy. Goodbye job. Dolan spends all he has to get visitation rights for his daughter to no avail. He moves to Knoxville to become a PI, but the jobs are not pouring in. His buddy from the TBI throws a case on his desk that he can't turn down, even though it won't help his pocketbook any. A teenage girl has gone missing. The case is being treated as a runaway, but the girl's aunt isn't buying it. His investigation leads them to a sex trade operation in North Carolina. Lots of action!
The 1st book in what I hope will be a series of Dolan books. Dolan was a former agent for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. His temper and his drinking got in the way when he caught his wife in bed with another man. So much for his TBI career. Now he is trying to scrape by as a PI, since his wife retained both houses and full custody of their daughter. Go figure. His friend, Mike, from he Bureau has a case for him. Unfortunately, it doesn't pay anything. A friend of Mike's teenage daughter, has gone missing and the police are convinced she ran away with a boy. Dolan's daughter is only 1 yr younger, so he doesn't need any more motivation than that. It should come as no surprise that there is corruption in the Sheriff's department. He goes off, head first, with no backup or contacts to take on drugs and sex trafficking. This was a really interesting read!
Former cop, now a PI, takes on a missing persons case. For free! He meets the girls Aunt, and they go to NC to look for her. They encounter roadblocks and continue to do this. Things are not always as they appear to be.
This is a great story! Terrific title, intriguing cover, fascinating characters and edge-of-your-seat plot set this one apart. I really enjoy the details in a Mitchell mystery. I particularly love the characters in this one and am hoping that it become more in a series, I still have questions.
