—Don't tell anybody!Ah, I knew it, I take it back! I told you I'd wish I hadn't said it! —If you tell anyone what I said, I'm gonna make you wish a lotta things.
Dio and Hot Pants is not a teamup that I knew I wanted. They work well together, but I do wish Hot Pants hadn't taken as much of a backseat as she has. She really is just marching to Dio's beat and doing what he says, instead of figuring things out for herself. But it doesn't really matter, because their battle with Valentine is fantastic.
It's wild how Gyro, Johnny, Hot Pants, Lucy and Dio are all converging on this guy. Outside of Hot Pants, Valentine is an anomaly. He didn't exist in the original timeline- he feels like an invader. We've been conditioned to see Dio as the counterpart to our heroes, but even he has to help fight this new factor. In fact, most of the major characters who are still alive have had a hand in fighting Valentine. The only one who hasn't is my boy Pocoloco. And I'm praying that he keeps to himself and lives to see the end of the race. Every other frontrunner has been murdered or dropped out, but hopefully he can break the cycle.
I'm kind of all over the place here, but all roads lead back to Valentine. This battle feels like the culmination of the entire part- everything has been building to this point. In this volume, Dio and Hot Pants get their turn to fight. And you know it's going to be a doomed effort, but I'll be damned if Dio didn't have me believing he could win there. Every beat in the battle on the train feels like a classic moment. The tension before the explosion, where Dio and Hot Pants are waiting to go through to door to face Valentine. Dio calling his shot. Hot Pants blocking the door. Valentine trying to escape using the curtain and the pitcher. Dio being disguised as one of the Valentines. Dio's final cross shaped cut. Valentine's last gambit. Moment after moment, it's so fun and exciting and clever.
And the end of it all just got me. I don't know if it was the gore or the suddenness or what. But that page of Dio crawling on the tracks messed me up. Perhaps more than any other death in Jojo. It just comes out of nowhere. And he doesn't even realize what happened. He thinks he's won and then he's dead. And that last shot. Holy shit. I must've spent a good five minutes processing what I'd just seen. Such a proud person died so suddenly and viscerally. You feel for the guy. It's going to make for a hell of a moment when it gets animated. The slow downward panning shot... ugh it still has my stomach in knots.

Oh no... am I actually shipping a STRAIGHT pairing? In Jojo?! Diego and Hot Pants are an incredible team and I would've loved to see them together more! (Okay I guess JonaEri is like the one other straight pairing I like bc it's so wholesome but Speedwagon is just there pining over Jonathan... is it weird that I like that one-sided attraction from him?)
Memes in this volume:
QUEEN
Well... that's one way to suffocate someone... Also let's appreciate Hot Pants's mouth in the puddle of flesh
Never stop making Dad Jokes, Gyro
All the "take the napkin" moments out of context are just RIDICULOUS... especially this one
He's trying to avoid a SHIZAAAA moment
JOHNNY WTF Also I love that Johnny's like "noooo I'll be embarrassed if my fetish is revealed" and Gyro's like "if you tell anyone my real name I'll kill you"["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
this was fun! I love Diego and Hot Pants dynamic duo, Lucy Steel is having a Not Great day (I'm blaming Araki). The art is stellar, this stand fight is one of my faves, I like D & HP vs PV. Johnny has no business being on the cover of this volume, he had five panels tops.
Series: Steel Ball Run #19 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
We continue with everyone racing to stop the president from fulfilling his plans with the corpse now that he has all the body parts and Lucy at his mercy. Dio and Hot Pants are tracking the President, using Lucy’s scent, and Johnny and Gyro are tracking Dio. They track them to a train and the battle begins again with Dio and Hot Pants fighting against the President but he has pulled duplicates of themselves from another world so they have to avoid those copies on top of fighting D4C. Dio and Hot Pants made a really good team. They really kept the president on his toes and came close to taking him down but unfortunately he slipped away at the last moment and Dio sadly didn’t make it.
I can’t wait to see what will happen next with this battle since I assume Johnny and Gyro will finally step up and try to help Hot Pants, if she is still alive, to take down the president. Also wth is going on with Lucy.

UWAGA UWAGA CYTAT DNIA! JEŻELI NIE CHCESZ POZNAĆ TAJEMNICY JOHNNIEGO NIE CZYTAJ! ,,I’ve got a little fetish… That is… well, huh… with girls…. Do you know what a bug bite fetish is…? When girl’s arms or legs or something get bitten by a mosquito and their skin swells and gets a little red. That excites me! That’s all!" WOAH 😨😳‼️😱🤨🤨 Jojo skąd takie upodobania
This volume was mostly concerning a fight, that was pretty well thought out and explained to the reader. It didn't feel like there was much in the way of BS that added rules to character abilities on the fly for the sake of plot. I flew through this one because I just HAD to see what happened
Pretty good 7th part of Jojo’s bizarre Adventures and far from the best! This series lacks awesome intense fights and the story of this series was dull😭😁❤️❤️
