Lucy Winton is a YA fantasy author. She loves to write (and read) stories with adventure, mystery, friendship, discovery...and a little romance as well. She lives in a seaside town in Devon.

She first started writing when she was four; hopefully, she's improved since then. She loves trying out new recipes, daydreaming and buying more books than her bookshelves can hold.

This short story is available by signing up to the authors newsletter, and is also known as Forest Rose (on goodreads)

Written as a prequel to the authors Roses series, this story introduces a fantasy world and the mysterious Wolf-Lords.
A young woman Senga is taken to live with the Wolf-Lords and in return her family who are poor and hungry will be taken care of during a harsh winter.
Senga soon finds her place in their village but before long War begins and Senga is returned to her family, not knowing what will happen to the people she has grown to care for.

Although it's a short read, it offers a very intriguing world and it also made me think of Beauty and the Beast due to our main character having to go to a place she didn't know, and having to leave her family.

I will definitely be trying the other books that come after this as I'm intrigued about the mythology and history of the authors world building in this one.

An enjoyable quick read.
