The Legacy #5

Flash Point

Rate this book
Banish the demon, stop the prophecy, and do not fall in love. Easy, right? Yeah, not so much.

Mina Donovan is a woman of many talents. Fire elemental, psychic, Legacy witch, magical asset for an FBI paranormal task force…she does it all. Her latest struggle? Not crushing on her sexy best friend. Logically, she knows they can’t be together. Too bad her heart has never bothered with logic.

The friend zone is the last place pyro expert Josh wants to be with Mina. Not that he has any choice in the matter. A witch hunter falling for a witch? Not smart. He’ll just have to learn to ignore his attraction to the gorgeous woman who already owns so much of his heart.

If Mina and Josh have any hope of finding their way to happily ever after, they’ll have to banish an all-powerful demon and take down an evil magical organization. Oh, and they’ll also have to figure out how to stop the prophecy that warns a dragon will consume Mina.

It’ll take more than magic to fix this supernatural dilemma.

This is the fifth in the series but each book is about a different sister so they are easily read out of order. This is a paranormal romance between Mina and Josh. These best friends have a prophecy to overcome all while trying to resist the attraction between them. Good characters with enough action and humour to keep it moving quickly with fun.

Just when I think I have a favorite book in The Legacy series, Miss Joya writes Flash Point.

This story has everything you need! Magic, strong women, the men who love them, danger and tons of action. Not to mention those scenes that ignite the flames of passion between the characters. Maybe yourself as well. I had been waiting for Mina’s story. I was not disappointed! She’s relatable and smart. I want to be her best friend! Enter Josh. He has his own demons and his feelings for Mina are genuine. Or are they?

I completely devoured this book. The pacing is great. I love these characters! They have become family. So much happens in this book. From secrets being revealed to a possible war. I was here for all of it! Did I mention the feels that will have you in your feels? I’m pretty sure I was ugly crying for the last part of the book. That is the power of Miss Joya’s word play.

If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for? It’s got witches, action, and sexy men. Skip adding these to your TBR and just dive right in. You’re welcome! I give this 5 stars.

It has been quite a while since I read Spark, the short, delectable prequel to the Legacy Series featuring none other than Mina Donovan, but ever since my little glimpse into the spitfire that is Mina, I have been DYING for her story and finally Ms. Joya has graced us with the gem known as Flash Point.

One thing I can not stress enough about every delicious morsel of literary goodness that Ms. Joya writes is the fact that when you pick up any of her reads you know that you’re immediately in for a harrowing ride. Her ability to bring such action to the pages of her stories is enviable. In the final book of her Legacy series, she not only does not disappoint, but somehow manages to up the intensity with a spectacular finale worthy of any Marvel universe movie (yes, I am letting my nerdy side out and no I do not apologize for that #TeamMarvel).

With witches, demons, and the delicious twist of a dragon prophecy (there has been a wave of dragons in my readerly world lately and I am not even sorry about it), Ms. Joya has not only upped the ante in the drama department, but she added more depth and magic to an already mystical paranormal world.

One facet that keeps me from jumping all in for PNR as a genre is that I will often come across books that are so heavy on the PN that they forget the R. And this girl loves the R. That is a trap that Ms. Joya never falls into and why she ranks at the tippy top number one spot of favorite PNR authors. Her balance between all the aspect is absolutely *chef’s kiss* perfection. And she manages to hit every single one of my beloved tropes from second chance to rivals-to-lovers and now with Flash Point, we get BFF’s-to-lovers and OH MY GOSH is that my absolute catnip.

Side note: Josh is precious and adorable and the most devoted BFF Mina could ever want and I couldn’t possibly ship them any harder.

But, as much as I love that fabulous HEA that Ms. Joya makes her characters earn, I think my favorite part of Flash Point and the entire Legacy series as a whole is the deep bond between the sisters. Despite so many things that threaten their relationship from outside forces to familial discord, the sisters are held together with a thread so strong, not even evil forces working against them can break it.

While Flash Point is easily a standalone read, I can not recommend enough starting off with Tides of Time and reading through the entire series to fully appreciate the magical emotion and seat gripping suspense Ms. Joya offers in each story that carries through the full series.

Ever since reading Luna Joya's short story, Spark, I've been impatiently tapping my foot for Mina's story to arrive. She's a spunky, quirky, curly-haired geek girl with a penchant for rock bands and magic-a witch after my own heart! As a huge fan of the Legacy Series, I went into Flash Point with high expectations and am thrilled to report that the story exceeded them and then some. In the action-packed conclusion to the series, Mina and the crew focus their forces on battling a power-hungry demon whose alarming rise threatens to usher in a raft of catastrophic consequences. They have their hands full between this demon issue, a dragon prophecy, and dealing with a shadowy organization, but Mina nonetheless finds herself snared in a smoldering, highly inconvenient attraction to her best friend Josh. Oops!

The sparks ignite from the beginning, and the desire is red-hot with an intensity that explodes into an inferno once Mina and Josh give in. Joya excels at uniting a high-octane, intrigue-fueled paranormal plot reminiscent of Ilona Andrews with a delectable, friends-to-lovers romance that doesn't scrimp on the steam. She weaves together these two elements with deft fluidity, making for a read that's satisfying on both the paranormal and romance fronts. In addition, there's sisterly banter, humor, and poignant themes of the magic of true friendship and the need for unwavering support from loved ones when faced with adversity. Eagerly awaiting what's next from Luna Joya!

Okay, so full disclosure, I'm friends with Luna so got to read this one extra early, which is a good thing because I'm not sure I would have been able to live without Josh and Mina in my life. This is the absolute perfect cap to a really stellar series. It ties up the most pressing loose ends, gets the entire cast of sisters together in the most spectacular was and has like the hottest, most angsty, most magical romance ever.

I don't want to go into too many details about Josh, other than, while he is supposed to be a witch0hunter, he definitely has his own magical surprises that are completely spectacular. As is all the world building, as per usual and the entire cast of fabulous side characters. It is so intricate and well done and exactly what you want from a great PNR series, the romance plus the massive story pay-off.

This can be read alone but I actually do recommend reading the entire series to see how it all builds and comes together. It's just absolutely wonderful and I can wait to see what comes next!

Mina Donovan has many talents - she is a fire elemental, psychic, Legacy witch and an "asset" for the FBI paranormal task force. However, her latest struggle is not to fall for her best friend - but her heart is not very logical. For her best friend Josh, the friend zone is the opposite of the place he wants to be with Mina. But as a witch hunter he has little choice - he cannot fall for her and so will have to learn to ignore his attraction to the gorgeous woman who already owns most of his heart. If they have any hope of a HEA, they just have a few tasks - banish an all-powerful demon, take down an evil magical organisation and stop a prophecy that a dragon will consume Mina - easy right?

This was the last book in the series and was definitely a fitting end to such a dramatic set of books. Mina and Josh were great with their dancing around the fact that they really loved each other but thought they could never be together, but in the meantime would protect and be a support for each other. Thank goodness they cracked and changed everything to be a physical relationship! I loved the drama and excitement in the story, how loose ends were mostly sorted out, and how sometimes the threads were only connected when there was no other option left and it was a last-ditch effort. I loved the way the story ended and my only gripe is that together is not the same as being married and I wish that was at the end. Well written and easy to read/understand. Contains a little sexual content.

I read this book first, not in the series order because it sounded interesting. I was not disappointed!
Yes there is a lot of back story I am sure I missed from the previous books in the Legacy Series, but Luna Joya did a great job giving you all the information you needed to enjoy Flash Point as a stand alone.
I loved the characters, Mina was fun and fierce. I really liked the relationship between the sisters and how they all protect each other and look out for each other and the sisterhood of the other characters in the series.
One thing that threw me was the third person story telling. It made me really have to concentrate on who was sharing their thoughts in that paragraph.

Overall I would recommend this series if you like a good supernatural mystery, battle of good verses evil, strong leading ladies, sacrifices for the greater good and a slow build love story.

The book is one of a kind. It has a very different storyline as compared to the previous books in the series. It's highly entertaining , scorching, amusing , amazing and fresh. The premise and characters , Kemina aka mina, (she is the fire elemental, thoughts and emotions reader, reader of the history of places , double legacy and the spare to nahualli heir) and Josh are a treat to read. It's good to see the all sisters , Cami and Sam , Delia and Mark, Ruby and Diego , their adopted sister Zaida and Zimm ( Z Squad and the immortals) again in the book. Rose and Fenn (her fox familiar) are super cute and I just can't get over her gift of dimension hopping. On the whole it beats the other books in the series , though they all the equally good. It's just magical experience. The climax of the story is pretty good.

While theoretically a standalone, I don't recommend to read these out of order, because there is a story arc that starts in book 1 covers all books.
This action packed and fast paced book is about the fifth sister, Mina, and her BFF/secret crush Josh. Tbh, it wasn't my favourite book in the series and it is starting to get a bit long-winded. On the other hand you have a charming sisterly bond and steamy romance that keeps you entertained. Highly recommend to start with Book 1 if this is the first book in the series you are picking up.

Joya’s finale to her Legacy series delivers on so many levels. Sexy Josh and seductive Mina are a match made in heaven in this friends-to-lovers paranormal romance full of fast-paced action, mystery, and steamy love scenes. Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster of excitement! I loved the dragon lore and the political intrigue in a world where witches reign. The twists and turns in Flash Point take the reader on such a journey, you’ll be cheering by the end. I can’t wait to see what Luna Joya comes up with next!

Great Ending . . .

Mina Donovan needs to put all of her attention on battling a power-hungry demon. If Mina and Josh have any hope of finding their way to a happily ever after, they’ll have to banish that demon and take down an evil magical organization. But Josh is so distracting in the best of ways. Can the author tie up all those loose ends and put a smile on the reader’s face when Mina gets her man? Grab your copy and find out!

CAN MINA CONTROL HER FIRE

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.

Josh and Mina have been friends and lusting after each other without doing anything about it. Josh has a secret that may destroy the friendship that the two of them have. Mina is having problems with her elemental fire and Josh is beginning to have memory flashes. Can they defeat the demon Nymvyra and keep everyone alive? Will the prophecy come true?

A big thank you to NetGalley and City Owl Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is part of a series, and is number 5. I have not read the others. I found I was overwhelmed with the names and different world, so for me this did not read well as a stand alone. That being said, I did enjoy Rose and Fenn (the fox), they made me laugh. Josh and Mina's story (once you get caught up) was interesting and cute. 3 stars

I didn't know this was book 5 in a series and wasn't lost in the story. The story is face pace paranormal romance with lots of steamy romance. There is humor in the story but falls into the typical romance with a little bit of story.
Thank you to Netgalley.

This book is the newest in the Legacy Series by Luna Joya. The book contains romance, magic, and great world- building. Mina and Josh are best friends that are fighting their feelings for each other. Can their define their relationship while also trying to protect their world from a demon?

I received this book as a ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
