Search-and-rescue worker Piper McAdams risks her life every day in the Alaskan wilderness, but she never expected to interrupt attempted murders—or draw a killer’s attention. Now Officer Judah Wicks needs her help to find out why someone wants her dead. Putting aside their past almost-relationship, they must work together to stop the murderer…or Piper’s next rescue mission could be her last.
Whooooooaaaa, that opening scene! Not for the faint of heart, or readers with a fear of heights! I found the mountain climbing aspects of this novel fascinating and what better location to face the elements than Alaska? So great setting too! And, once again, Varland creates a nice balance between romance and suspense.
Piper and Judah had been friends and climbing buddies heading towards something more when Judah inexplicably put the brakes on. They've managed reserved civility whenever their paths cross since the 'break up' but now they are thrown together in a perplexing case where Piper seems to be the target. And, of course, all those old feelings flare back to life. Happy sigh. I really like the way the romance is developed, it's a little bit different than the norm and I loved the pacing.
The suspense is intriguing, with a nice splash of outdoor adventuring and plays out to a stunning conclusion. And, bonus, we get a glimpse at Levi and Adriana (Alaskan Showdown hero and heroine) in happily wedded bliss. Levi and Judah are brothers and it was fun to see the tables turned with Levi now cautioning Judah on romance. You don't need to have read the previous book or any of the other Raven Pass books to enjoy this one, though they are all great reads.
I so enjoyed this story. It’s exciting and kept me guessing who the villain was to the very end. What I especially liked was the way the characters prayed for direction when they were dealing with issues … short, very real and very personal. I also loved the way the love story developed between the characters … so easy to see how Ms. Garland “let” us watch as God directed their relationship. Thank you, Ms. Varland, for a lovely afternoon.
I really enjoyed this clean, Love-inspired, Romantic Suspense. I bought this at our local Goodwill store, and I've given this a 5* rating. This pulled me in from the beginning, a rescuer needed rescued. Why was she under attack? Lots to enjoy in this suspense. The ending does tie up loose ends and answers many of the questions. I sure didn't figure it out till almost the end.
Great suspense, action, and romance. Trying to keep our fears to a minimum and keep from judging people against our past is a daily challenge. We can only get through this with God. Please ask for his help.
Sarah Varland writes a fast paced, page turning adventure. Fall in love with Piper and Judah as they solve the mystery and try to stay alive. They learn they can depend on each other and God.
Alaskan Mountain Attack by Sarah Varland! Such a great story with suspense that will keep you reading and turning the pages until the end! I highly recommend this book
This idea of digital readers does not work . Don’t you listen to the finished product if you did you would not put it out. Very disrespectful to authors and listeners.
Really great insights into mountain climbing - for a non-climb she described the different types and styles of climbers in an insightful way. Enjoyable plot line as well.
Search and Rescue work can certainly be dangerous, but having someone shooting at you adds a whole new level of danger! Who would want to kill a SAR worker? Adding to the suspense is another kind of danger: "Again, she felt the energy between them, something that went so much deeper than just the word chemistry could convey. It was more than physical attraction, although Piper felt plenty of that. This felt scary, like it had the potential to change her entire life."
"Judah brushed the slowest, softest, most perfect kiss across her lips, then just stood there."
Welcome to Sarah's newest LIS book! Plenty of suspense and sweet romance! Highly recommend!
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Alaskan Mountain Attack. I really enjoy Sarah's books so I'm always excited to receive one in the mail. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of drama. I know you are going to love this one.
Search and Rescue worker Piper McAdams is climbing up a rock wall to rescue a climber; when she arrives on the ledge, it's empty, as she turns around someone pushed her over the edge. Fearing someone is still in trouble she climbed back up to the ledge. On the ledge someone attacked her. She wakes to find the man she cares too much for has rescued her.
Police Officer Judah Wicks started up the cliff when Piper had yelled down so he was halfway up when she fell. He knows Piper well, having trained with her. She is in trouble. He stops the man from strangling her and gives chase after him but realizes he must help Piper first. It was a setup. Who could want Piper dead? Can he keep her safe without losing his heart?
A treacherous journey to stay ahead of a cold-blooded killer. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life.
