AMNESIA is the latest heart-wrenching suspense by Bestselling Author D.G. Torrens.

Cassie is suffering from a trauma-induced amnesia, due to a vicious assault months earlier. As bits and pieces of her memory return, she becomes even more confused. Nothing makes sense. She has no idea at all who attacked her, slashing and leaving her bleeding to death.

Leo, the man she’s been seeing, has been smothering her since her release from the hospital, and when he refuses to give her the space she needs to recover, she breaks off the relationship, setting off another chain of events. During one of her confrontations with Leo, she’s offered escape, courtesy of her boss, Mark. A friendship develops with time and eventually the two admit they have feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, Cassie’s longtime best friend is found dead, of a supposedly accidental fall which sends Cassie into an even deeper depression.

But not only has Leo become even more obsessive, refusing to let her move on, but Cassie begins to suspect that his brother Rob might have had something to do with her assault, when he tries to give her unwanted advice. More of Cassie’s memories return, which turns up a clue leading to Rob’s arrest.

Someone breaks into her apartment leaving her roses. Her files are stolen from her psychiatrist’s office after her psychiatrist is nearly killed by a hit and run driver. There’s so little that Cassie is certain of though and she feels little relief at Rob’s arrest.

Have they got the right man? Will Cassie ever be able to move forward? You’ll just have to read this heart wrenching suspense novel to discover the answers.

This story has a lot of twists and turns that will leave you guessing until the very end, which has yet another interesting twist. I highly recommend it for suspense and romance readers alike!! I give it 5 stars!!

***** Wow…

It starts with a powerful opening between Cassie and her therapist, Jennifer, as Cassie tries to remember anything about “that night.” The night when she had been jogging in the woods, then was attacked and nearly died. She tells Jennifer she doesn’t recall anything, but in reality, she does remember one thing, yet stays silent. BINGO. I was hooked!

Meanwhile, Cassie is connected to Leo, her boyfriend who has been staying with her––and becoming overbearing. Her best friend, Anna, who has always been there for her, now encourages Cassie to take care of herself, and if being away from Leo for a bit helps, to simply do that. Recovery is of the utmost importance.

We then are introduced to Leo’s dysfunctional family, where his brother, Rob—also a friend of Cassie and Anna’s––is the favored son, and Leo far less so. Resentment on Leo’s end is rampant as Cassie still has constant nightmares about that night.

Like a well-done thriller, this story kept me turning those pages, questioning, speculating, or assuming whether this or that is what happened––or not. And each time I assumed something, it pointed in a different direction. Her therapist says it best: “I have seen this before. That poor girl has a snake in her life. It is someone she knows. Soon, her memory will reveal all and turn her life upside down.”

Twists and turns, a devastating loss, which brings in the sharp detective Simmonds, and her supportive employer, Matt, all creates a more than steady beat. Will it all end happily? That’s for you to find out in this terrific, well-paced book. Highly recommended!

AMNESIA is a heart-stopping romantic suspense and author D.G. Torrens kept me enthralled!

Cassie is having a time of it. A brutal attack in the park leaves her scarred and suffering from amnesia regarding the attack. Slowly, over months, she gets little memories of what happened that night, but never anything that puts the whole picture together for her. When she’s not dealing with those memories, she’s dealing with a controlling boyfriend who needs to go. Cassie has the strength and fortitude to tell him so, but he doesn’t like it.

Cassie is surrounded by family and friends who love her and a therapist who is helping her put the whole picture together so she can remember the night and put her assailant behind bars. What she remembers, though, puts the wrong person behind bars.

Her boss, Matt, cares for Cassie and that comes through loud and clear from their very first interaction. Having broken it off with Leo, Cassie is hesitant about Matt’s advances, but slowly, over time, discovers that she has feelings for him, and they start to date. Cassie, convinced that her attacker has been caught, was caught off guard when the real one showed up on her doorstep, literally.

Amnesia is a well-written romantic suspense that will keep you turning the pages. While I knew who the real bad guy was, I had to know why and the twists and turns at the end kept you glued to the pages until the very last one. If you love romantic suspense, this is one to check out!

Her amnesia, purported to be protecting her from the horror of remembering who attacked her, leaves her vulnerable and confused. Somehow, Cassie finds the courage to break off her relationship with Leo, the boyfriend who is clearly obsessed with her, and starts a new relationship with her boss, Mark.

This story is less about who-done-it, as it quickly becomes clear to the reader. Instead it focuses on Cassie’s anguish. Trapped in her amnesia, she is agonizingly blind to the danger that is still at hand, which is evident by the suspicious death of her longtime best friend, the theft of her files from her psychiatrist’s office, and the stilted advice she’s given by her brother Tom.

This is not an easy read, not a story for the faint of heart. The feeling that no one can be trusted is prevalent. Will Cassie succumb to her weakness and confusion—or will she overcome them, despite the tortures of amnesia?

Five stars.

While out jogging, Cassie, a young professional woman, was attacked and left for dead. Unfortunately, she cannot remember anything about her attacker. Eventually, she has some flashbacks, but she still can’t put it all together.

Leo, her boyfriend, goes above and beyond to take care of her, but Cassie can’t help but feel that something is off between them since her attack. She expresses to Leo that she needs space, but he’s not on board with that decision.

Cassie and Leo break up and Leo moves in with his brother, Rob. The two brothers couldn’t be more different. Rob is sweet and thinks of others. Leo is obsessive and selfish.

Though Leo is out of the house, Cassie’s problems don’t end. In fact, they get worse, but I don’t want to divulge and spoilers.

There are a lot of twists and turns in this book that will keep you guessing about who the villain is, and there’s a doozie of a twist at the end of the book. The author delivered the SHOCK factor on that one.

If you like fast-paced page turners, Amnesia is the book for you.

0.5/5

This is honestly the worst book I’ve read in a very long time, and I’ve read a few stinkers recently.

The 1/2 star was for a consistent storyline but even that was ruined by the very end.

My chief complaints with the book were:
1) The complete lack of editing was so distracting that it made the very simplistic plot hard to follow. Quotation marks were sometimes used but then often forgotten by the end of a statement making it very confusing to follow. Don’t even get me started on the overuse of exclamation points! Very annoying! Truly!

2) The dialogue was written terribly. There was not a single contraction used in the entire book. I have never encountered a human being in my entire life who never used contractions in conversation.

Am I glad I read it? Dear God, no! It was truly painful slogging through the terrible grammar issues to follow a very basic plot with an awful ending that tried to be clever but fell flat, imo.

Would I recommend it? Heck, no!

Amnesia draws the reader in from page one. Cassie was beaten and left for dead, with only brief flashes that peak though her memory but brings her no closer to the truth. Along the journey to recovery she finds comfort in her best friend and therapist, until her lifetime friend is found dead, causing her to slide into further decline. She alienates herself from her possessive boyfriend who does not want to let go. Various friends pop in and out, and the list of suspects grows. The ending has a few twists that you won't see coming.
A good read.

Another great read

"Amnesia" was a thrilling read that had me captivated from the start. The story follows Cassie who is suffering from trauma-induced amnesia, and her visits to her psychologist. As the plot progresses, fragments of the night of her attack begin to surface and Cassie is left to face the truth. This was a great read filled with suspense and romance. The author did a wonderful job of making you feel for her characters and keeping the plot unpredictable. I highly recommend this book and as always look forward to reading more from this author.

I've previously read a few books by DG Torrens before so I was looking forward to jumping into some more of her work.
Cassie is suffering from Amnesia after a traumatic incident and she's desperate to remember just what happened that awful night.
Needing space she spilts from her boyfriend and tries to move on... but that definitely doesn't solve all of her troubles.
Twists turns and secrets from start to end.
I do think it would benefit from some parts being added to give us more story but overall a good read.

Cassie is suffering from amnesia following a nasty attack...

This story tackles trauma and its effects. Cassie is successful in business but the attack has tangled her thoughts and feelings, as would be expected. She seeks therapy and has the support of her friends and family, and yet there is an undercurrent of threat throughout the book.

The characters are portrayed reasonably well and I liked Cassie's thought processes. The writing style was fast-paced and easy to read. I enjoyed the psychological aspects.

Worth a look.

This was the first book from D G Torrens that I have read, and it won't be my last. I love a good thriller full of suspense. It was well-formed, written with expertise and a great story which kept me glued to the page. Once began simply kept reading and couldn't out if down. Almost reading it in one sitting.. And the end, wow! It had me thinking what?! Why?! Lol, however, I read further and my shock eased. It is a great story and one I would thoroughly recommend.

This is the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last. The main character Cassie is suffering from amnesia after a brutal attack. This is the story of her trying to put her life back in order and also her memories back in place. The author certainly doesn't give her an easy ride and poor cassie is put through plenty in the story. Will she remember what happened that night?? Will you figure it out before she does? I kept thinking I had settled on a guilty party then changing my mind and changing it back again several times. No spoilers to my review but definitely a worthwhile read to see how cassie handles everything that is thrown at her.

It was a decent story, but there were quite a few grammatical mistakes, mostly misplaced commas, and the dialog was sometimes repetitive and stilted. It needed better editing, then it could have been a great story.
