He’s a billionaire.
Desperately handsome
Wildly charismatic.

Except…
It’s not the good kind of damp.
In fact, I’m suddenly very, very wet.
Oh no.

I’ve left out something important.
I’m nine months pregnant.
Don’t ask about the father.
I’d rather forget.

But I’m sitting in the fanciest restaurant you can imagine.
Opposite the man of my dreams.
It’s our first time alone together.
The start of something spectacular.
And…
My water just broke.

I really hate when books are advertised as standalones but are actually strongly connected to a previous series.

I feel like I'm missing so much context; it's like reading the second half of a book. We don't see their first meeting or their initial attraction (presumably featured in a previous book?) or even him asking her out. The book starts during their first date, where she goes into labour.

As a result, the tension is missing because they're clearly super into each other and the other is aware of this. I don't really care to read about them attending the wedding of characters from a series that is completely unfamiliar to me.

2 stars because I loved the premise and the writing is good. I would pick up another book by this author, but this was just not it, sadly.

Cute

Single pregnant woman goes on a date with a billionaire and her water beaks because she's going into labor. Unfortunately the date is NOT the father. The story was pretty good, but a bit boring.

3.5 stars. I’ve never read a book like this before. The book and relationship start when she’s pregnant with the baby from a one night stand. We get hints of a wild past that she had that resulted in her being single and pregnant.

We don’t get much of them falling in love because they seem to be taken with each other right from the beginning. But having to navigate a new relationship with a new baby.

There’s a slight drama with the baby’s father at the end but not much.

It’s good with a HEA but I didn’t feel a lot of emotions. But I appreciated that the baby was such a part of their story.

heroine goes into labor at her first date with hero so i was curious what's going to happen but it was boring

plus i don't think that was exactly a stand alone because hero's brother has two books and heroine's sister has one so the book was written like we know their backgrounds

Good story. I liked the premise : not often a first date ends with a baby being born. I still felt the ending was a bit rushed and solved too quickly but I liked Donovan as lead. He was genuine and a bit lost. He found his way back to what matters so that was nice. A bit less fan of Havannah but she made for a good female lead. A good story overall.

I realised halfway through that this series was a spinoff from another series which I think you HAVE to read because there’s lots of referrals to a time period that I have no context for.
Anyway. I carried on. This was cute and fluffy. Excellent use of the Oxford Comma. Third act breakup was anticlimactic and lasted a hot minute.

I adored this one, laughed so much, but it was also so sweet! As usual, Knight puts the characters in some of the most hilariously outrageous situations. It took me a minute to remember who Hannah was in relation to the Pickle series by this author, because I haven’t read the last one in that series yet. But I loved getting time with some of the characters I remembered from that series here. This is a standalone for sure, however the guest spots with characters from other books is fun if you’ve read those books as well. I’m not always someone who has to read all the billionaire romance books. Once in awhile though, I really do like them, and this one was perfect. I did realize there were two books with Donovan’s brother and I’ll have to go back and read those just because I want to know his story as well. I’m also mostly to the point where I am okay with the fact that I’ll never have kids, and I really before that even never had baby fever. But something about the way this story was written, I wanted to hold my own baby so bad.

There was a little twist with Hannah’s baby daddy, and it didn’t even turn out to be what I thought might happen from the little we knew about him from the beginning. As I said, this book was hilarious, and sweet, and definitely I recommend it as with the other books I’ve read by the author!

Apparently this is related to the pickle books, of which I've only read #1. There are many many references to other characters in this one. Reading these before this one isn't absolutely necessary, but I might be able to understand more about how these two met in the first place.... considering Havannah is VERY pregnant and on a first (!) date with the billionaire (does he really need a name) when she goes into labor.

This was the strangest story, so I was intrigued with the creativity here. It's not clear to me how she got here mentally, so the book about her sister might help.

I wanted more about the billionaire - not what he could buy but what he wanted. Also more about the baby daddy and his family which seemed a little too smooth. His father is a lawyer - how was there no custody arrangement discussed here???

I might be a little harsh on my rating, but I really didn't like the characters, the plot flow, and the lack of passion. Too much reality where the baby is concerned. Romance is about escape, that baby just didn't work for me at all. The whole story ended up reeking like a dirty diaper because of it. The humor fell flat and the plot was hodge-podgy. The main female character was nothing more than a gold digger and the main male character an easy sap. I realize the author put a lot of hard work into this story and I've enjoyed other stories by this author, but this one didn't cut it.

I really enjoyed JJ Knight's Pickle Family series, so I was excited to start the Tasty spinoff series. The series starter, Tasty Mango, brings together two siblings from other JJ Knight characters: Donovan is the brother of Dell from the Single Dad books, and Havannah is Magnolia's sister from the last Pickle book, Spicy Pickle.

The fact that Havannah goes into labor on their first date could have been a deal-breaker for this pair but Donovan just keeps coming back for more, totally smitten with this single mom and how she makes this businessman want to ease up on his world traveling and settle down in his life. Donovan is great with baby Rebel, which I adored. He took Havannah in with all of her baggage, even her not wanting to discuss who her child's father is.

Havannah and Donovan's romance starts out much like a fairytale, as they travel around France for Max and Camryn's wedding. (BTW, I loved getting to see Max Pickle's wedding!) They get to know each other in a bubble, but when reality comes creeping back in, it takes a lot for this single mom/small business owner and a billionaire jet-setting businessman to make things between them work.

What made the difference in this book being a 4-Star versus a 5-Star book for me was the lack of background on Donovan. I have not read the Single Dad books, so I knew zero about Donovan and Dell's backstory. There are a few mentions in passing about Donovan's mom and how he only became wealthy because of the inroads his brother made when he joined the business, but I finished Tasty Mango not really knowing anything about Donovan's childhood or who is was aside from the side of him I got to know as Havannah's suitor. Knowing more would have filled him out better as a hero for me.

But nonetheless, I adored Havannah and Donovan's story, and look forward to the rest of the Tasty series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

The woman delivers our coffee. I pick up my cup and inhale the heavenly French roast. I blow on the surface. The first sip is like an orgasm. Okay, not quite, but given my love life lately, it’s close.

I still cannot take the cover seriously, haha. I mean it is hot as hell and the guy looks very fine, but it is also just a tad weird to cook naked with just an apron (what is this an anime?). I am also still wondering how it is connected to the book given he doesn’t cook. XD

But to the book itself! This was such a fun book and the two characters: Havannah and Donovan were just so sweet. I love both of them. See them connect, but also learn more about what makes them tick, read about their work, their plans, what each of them would like in the future, but also see them work out if it is going to work out between the two of them. A billionaire and a girl who hasn’t got a whole lot of money (just a deli). I loved that Donovan didn’t mind that Havannah was pregnant and then later had a tiny little baby attached to her. He is a billionaire but while he does flaunt some of his money around, it was less than other billionaire romance books I read. Which I just loved. Yes, you can clearly see that Donovan is a rich rich man, but I love that he didn’t rub it around. I loved how sweet he was with Havannah and her baby. Though I guess he should have just been sweet to the baby, because Havannah has some words about Donovan being protective towards her. Haha. That scene had me laughing so much.

There are romantic moments, silly moments, poop moments (there is a baby after all and I hope that Donovan learned from this experience XD), there are moments with family, and so much more. There never was a dull moment. I just flew through the book!

CAN WE PLEASE just kill the trope or whatever it is called that always happens around 80% of a book and that makes adults stop talking to each other? Please? I read romance books with less fun because I am constantly worried this crap will happen. In this one that happens too. Our sexy billionaire Donovan sees Havannah connect with the family of her baby, being quite happy and smiling with the one who is the daddy, and instantly stops communicating with her. WTF dude? That is just not how adults should do things. If you think that something is up, or you think that maybe she needs some time, TALK, fucking TALK. I just felt so sorry for Havannah who was so eager to have some time with Donovan, talk to him, have sexy times, and he just goes radio silent. WTF dude. NO. For me this ruined a bit of the book. So yeah, 0.5 stars less. I wanted to rate this book 5 stars, but I am really getting sick and fucking tired of this crap. I mean, drama is OK, but just talk. And please, longer than just a casual conversation of 5 minutes. This is just dumb. ARGHHHH. Sorry for the rant, I had to get this out of my system.
The rest of the book was perfect. The ending after all that stuff was fantastic and really made me smile and swoon.

All in all, there is a little bump in the road around 80% but after that is all resolved a few percentages later things get better and the rest of the book was amazing. It made me laugh. It made me tear up. I needed something cool as there are sexy scenes that are well-written. The chemistry is off the charts with these two! I would definitely recommend this book to all.

The writing for this book was decent, and I can appreciate it starring a new single mother as the romantic lead. But other than that, it was not my cup of tea. We follow the characters as they spend an exorbitant amount of money (appealing to do but not very exciting to read about), feed and change a baby (realistic but again not a thrilling read), and have contrived conflicts that are resolved in seconds with a smidgen of communication (great for them but kind of dull for the reader).

The female lead's only attributes appear to be her beauty and the fact that she's kind of a slut- which I totally support, but I would have liked a little more to make me feel like the male lead's infatuation with her is real. His relationship with her is supposed to be so different and unique and I just have no idea why. His character largely consists of being rich but not a douche. Which again is fine, but kinda boring.

Not much happens in the plot. The love scenes are perfectly fine but feel like they happen just because this is a romance and not because the characters have actual chemistry building up to them.

While I still think this book would not be for me, a few changes could probably bump it up a star. Flesh out personalities a little more. Dedicate more time to their connection and less to caring for the baby (yes, include this, but mention it in passing without describing every scene every time). Cut down the length of each scene to improve pacing. Have a larger conflict and resolution, or at least one that all of the characters are actually aware of and active in resolving.

This story felt like it should be a cute, light, quick read, but because of the aforementioned pacing issues and minimal plot, it felt like it dragged and it took me longer to read it than I anticipated.

I can't say this book was BAD, and nothing in it really offended me. I just found it a bit shallow and boring.

Tasty Mango brings together two amazing book worlds, so we get double the dose of our favorite characters in this spinoff of the Pickle Family series. And if you’ve read any of those books, you know your in for a crazy, madcap, hilarious time.

Knight is downright diabolical in her use of humor, starting us out with a my-drink-choked-me, hilarious opening scene, and it just gets funnier from there. So buckle in and hold on tight for this raucous roller coaster ride!

Havannah and Donovan have a tough time getting together. He travels all the time for work, and she's approximately twenty months pregnant, but they're finally having their first date in one of the most romantic restaurants in Denver. Alas, little Rebel is on his own time line, interrupting the dinner with his arrival, and that’s pretty much par for the course in the dating life of Havannah and Donovan.

With hysterical diaper changes and a geriatric flower girl who steals the show, there's also a surprising depth of heart with the perfect amount of angst. These characters will own real estate in your heart in no time at all, and they'll stay with you forever.

You'll need to prepare yourself, because you’re not ready for this one. It's all tears of laughter, “help, I need the heimlich because I choked while laughing," and masterful manipulation of your heartstrings mixed in together, and it will be one of your best reading experiences this summer. I'd like to say it's the perfect beach read, and as long as you don’t mind the weird looks from strangers, it is. What I can say with absolute certainty is that you definitely won’t want to miss this one.

Donovan & Havannah

From the title and the cover, I was expecting fluff. Fluff with a hot man in the kitchen.

I didn't realize that this book was part of a series or connected to a series, and I didn't realize it would be as meaty as it turned out to be.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by how well the author handled the realities of being a new, single mom trying to date. Generally people act like being single and pregnant is taboo, and you have to put your romantic life on hold once you get pregnant and/or have a baby.

I was so glad to see that wasn't the case with Havannah. The rest of us is not going to get a hot billionaire, like Donovan, to help make some of our dreams or fantasies come true, but there are men in the world who will accept and eventually love kids who are not theirs.

Still, the story just didn't completely pull me in. It took me entirely too long to read a couple hundred odd pages.

5 Star Review of Tasty Mango by J J Knight

J.J. Knight is a relatively new author to me. I found this to be an delightful and entertaining read and one that kept me invested from the first to the last chapter.
I fell hard and fast for Donovan and Havannah, both separately and especially as a couple.

What’s a girl to do when out on a first date with a gorgeous billionaire and she suddenly finds her water breaking and the arrival of her baby is imminent? When I read the blurb for this book I couldn’t wait to dive in.

This book had me laughing out loud too many times to count and in fact I laughed so much I cried. What a funny, witty wonderful love story Tasty Mango is with plenty of steam, love and family.

This book left me with a smile on my face and I cannot wait to a read more from this author.

This crossover of two of JJ Knight’s funniest series is fantastic!

I missed Spicy Pickle so I didn’t have an introduction to Havannah and her family, as judgey as they are, but I mostly felt like this book stood alone. I say mostly because I definitely felt like I was missing something about the dynamics of Havannah’s family that maybe is explained in her sister’s book. I loved that H completely stood up for herself whenever any one was putting her down for her life choices. I was cheering her on like crazy.

It’s been a while since I’ve read Single Dad on Top and I missed that crew so much. It was so great to catch up with some favorites and meet some new characters. I so wasn’t expecting an insta-love story from Donovan but it just so fits him perfectly. I’m passing out over here from that swoon.

I’m really looking forward to seeing where these two series move toward next. They have a bit of everything: humor, angst, fierce FMCs, and swoony MMCs!

Tasty Mango is a nice easy read and I enjoyed getting to know Donovan and Havanna.

Donovan is at a time in his life where he wants more than just his work and meaningless hookups. He wants to settle down and have a family.
Havanna is nine months pregnant and ready to take on all that been a single mom will entail but that's not to say she isn't open to a relationship, so when Donavan asks her out on a date of course she says yes only for her waters to break, on said date. Is there a chance for love to blossom even in a delivery room.

I enjoyed this book but I did read as a standalone and I think that maybe I should have at least read the stories of Dell, Donovan's brother and Magnolia, Havanna's sister as I did feel a little lost at times but overall a book I would recommend.

Although it was cute, I wouldn’t call it romantic comedy. Billionaire brothers invest in Tasty Mango, a deli run by two sisters. One brother is married with a baby, so his brother travels to all the locations where they are buying out struggling companies. He’s immediately attracted to Havannah, who is very pregnant. He asks her out, but her water breaks. He rushes her to the hospital, thinking that she is going to deliver right away. After realizing that she forgot her purse in the restaurant, he goes back and gets it. The next morning, he gets to the hospital just in time to watch her son be born.
They start seeing each other, to the dismay of her family, but she keeps waiting for him to end things, and he thinks she’s getting together with the natural father.
I did enjoy this book and I would recommend it to everyone. I just don’t think it rated 5 stars.

A lighthearted hilarious romantic comedy that had me laughing incredulously at all the ridiculous situations that our heroine finds herself in!

Single and pregnant, Havannah still accepts a dinner invite from the handsome billionaire Donovan who is backing her deli Tasty Mango. On their first date, her water breaks and chaos ensues.

Donovan is seriously the most amazing book boyfriend, so unlike what one would expect but that makes his pursuit of Havannah all the sweeter.

I liked their chemistry and their families, though I was disbelieving that so much craziness could happen in their short time together! Fun and funnier!

“Don’t have a baby in my limo!” the driver shouts. “I just cleaned the seats!”
This is a laugh out loud story with all the feels. Hannah's first real interaction with Donovan comes just as she is about to give birth. But will that stop the handsome and charming debonair gentlemen from stepping up and taking life by the smiles? No. And the addition of baby Rebel just adds to the confusion, the fun and the hi-jinx.

I really enjoyed the first part of this book. It was engaging and fun. However, then the story shifted to finding the truth about the baby's father and it went a little wonky. With the way that this book ended, I wasn't even sure why it was even mentioned. The scene between the father's family was weird. The ending was weird with how it didn't even cover how the baby was able to balance time spent with both. It left me scratching my head which is a shame because this had the potato be so much more.

My favorite of the “Pickle” series so far, although I have enjoyed them all. We meet Havannah and Donovan. Donovan links my ultimate favorites, the Single Dad series into this newest book. A few laugh out loud, places, but mostly just a warm and steamy romance with a sweet HEA. Grab this one for your personal library.

If you’ve read Spicy Pickle you’ve met this story’s heroine Havannah Bourdeaux the older sister of that stories heroine Magnolia. In fact as I recall quite a bit of Spicy Pickle was used to introduce Havannah and set up her story with Donovan McDonald who was also briefly introduced at the end of that book. I’m really not sure how to describe Havannah in that story without being accused of slut shaming so I’ll just give you the facts. In that book Havannah discovers she’s pregnant but since she’s been with three different guys over the time she believes she got pregnant via a hook up app. she doesn’t know who her baby’s father is. With the help of Magnolia she identifies the most likely father as a guy she met and banged in the backseat of his car. She didn’t know the guy’s last name, didn’t know he was married or that he had been charged with assaulting his wife. All she really knew about him was she thought he was cute and played guitar in some out of town bar band. Even though Havannah acknowledges in this story that she really enjoys sex and has always been a wild child she explains this behavior was out of character for her as she was going through a dark time. By the time she figures out who she believes the father is he’s behind bars and Havannah has no interest in contacting him and telling him he’s the father of her baby. So the secret of her baby’s father remains with Havannah and Magnolia. Later in Spicey Pickle Donovan is introduced as a billionaire angel investor close friend of the Pickle family, who helps Magnolia and Havannah with financial guidance in opening their family’s second deli Tasty Mango, which they will own and run separate from the original family deli owned by their parents and grandmother. It’s also made obvious that Donovan is very attracted to Havannah despite the fact she is very much pregnant with another man’s baby once he’s told that man is not in the picture.
This story opens with Havannah now nine months pregnant out on a first date at an upscale Boulder Co. restaurant with Donovan when her water breaks sending her into labor. Donovan rushes ‘her to the hospital and then has a calming influence on her helping her deliver her son Rebel. Donovan then leaves to continue his life as a globe trotting billionaire busy making billion dollar deals while Havannah with the help of her family settles into the life of a new single mom. Max Pickle, older brother of Anthony Pickle, who is Magnolia’s fiancée is marrying his finance Camryn (Hot Pickle) at a castle in France. All of Havannah’s family as well as Donovan’s are invited to the wedding. Now I have to stop here and say that Magnolia describes Anthony and his family as comfortable but not super rich in the class of Donovan and his older brother Del. But its awfully hard to read about Max and Camryn’s insanely lavish wedding without thinking you’d have to be Jeff Bezos like rich to afford it. Anyway, Havannah would love to attend the wedding but flying commercial for 13 hours with a newborn just isn’t doable so she reluctantly resigns herself to remaining home in Boulder while her sister and parents jet off to France. Our hero Donovan who is Jeff Bezos like rich comes to the rescue offering to fly Havannah and Rebel to the wedding in his family’s private jet. And, hook her up with his brother Del’s au pair to help take care of Rebel during the wedding. The private jet, the wedding and the brief European vacation she and Donovan embark upon leaves Havannah feeling like she’s a princess living in a fairy tale. But too soon real life crashes back in and Donovan and Havannah each have to return to their real lives with Donovan in Europe working on billion dollar business deals and Havannah back in Boulder caring for Rebel and trying to get back into the swing of helping to manage Tasty Mango. The rest of the story is Havannah and Donovan trying to find a way to meld their lives together for their happily ever after fairy tale ending while overcoming some unforeseen obstacles. I thought this was a very good addition to the Pickleverse as the author calls this series. Beyond the fairytale vacation in France and Italy the author sprinkles in plenty of real life type issues for the couple. I enjoyed the way she portrayed the relationships within Havannah’s family. Even though its obvious they very much love and support one another they aren’t always in agreement. Even Magnolia and Havannah have a few moments where its clear Magnolia doesn’t approve of some of her older if not wiser sister’s decisions. It made the characters feel that much more real.
P.S. I suspect cousin Sunny Packwood has a book in her future.
