straight to the Point

Everything you want and/or need in a delicious bitesize nugget. Dark Tales are quickly becoming my favorite hour long reads.

Riley wants Zeke and she will have him.

Zeke saved Riley when he took out her parents, and set her up with a couple when she was 5. 13 years later, she's all grown up and he can't resist her. This is a kind of taboo romance, given this is her "uncle" and he's a couple decades older than her. The pair have great chemistry and created some steamy scenes together.

The entire book was rushed. From the beginning to the end you feel like you're playing catch up on a story that's already happened. We get zero background on anyone and the entire scene with Riley kidnapped was over so fast it was almost worthless. It's like we're getting a full book's worth of story condensed down into notes.

Ezekiel the Ox is a stoic and stern and is the muscle of his family. He has to take care of a man and his wife, and as he’s leaving he sees a little girl. He can’t leave her so he takes her to his brother and wife who take care of her. Thirteen years later and Riley is eighteen and in love with Zeke and not afraid to show it. What will happen if she ever finds out the truth? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing Book. This is a short and spicy read.

No epilogue

Wish there was an epilogue. I really want to know how the family will feel about this relationship. This was my first mafia-esque story and I have to say I did like it. Maybe I'll start reading some more 3.5 stars!

Zeke is a hitman and falls for Riley, who is young enough to be is daughter. She ends up in trouble and he is there to keep her safe. Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters with sizzling chemistry and a quick and entertaining story. I liked it.

Steamy and hot with just enough drama to keep me glued to my kindle. Ezekiel, aka The Ox, is the hitman for the family and one of his hits leaves Riley an orphan. So he takes her to his brother and wife to raise. Riley grows up knowing her parents aren’t her blood relatives and that is how she justifies crushing on her Uncle Zeke. There is an attraction on both sides, will Zeke not cross that line? Will Riley’s scheming put her in a perilous situation?

I admit I couldnt quite make sense of this book and I cant get into that without spoilering the 'story'. I like a good age-gap story, and was intrigued by the step-uncle aspect and I think it actually had potential, but in the end it was just more of a ..what did I just read kinda book.

I love how Ms. Wolf makes sure that her female characters are just as tough, and capable as any of the males characters, though in different ways. It’s very easy to fall back on the damsel dynamic when it comes to stories that take place in what we all know would be male dominated areas, such as Mob Boss. (Here’s looking at you Grace.) It means a lot to me as a female reader, that I can connect to the female characters and them being weak and helpless is a quick way to loose my attention.

I guess that has something to do with why I’m snapping up Ms. Wolf’s books right now. Bring on the bad @$$ b!£€#es, I’m ready for them!

5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.

4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.

3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.

2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.

1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Dark Tales series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Riley was very young when her parents were taken and she was raised by another Zeke is the sexy as all get out man who took her parents (killed them) and not being able to kill her, took her and gave her to his brother to raise always watching from afar. Riley knew her parents weren’t her biological parents but they loved her like she was their own but she has always crushed on her Uncle Zeke (she told herself he wasn’t blood) the chemistry is intense and forbidden, the magnetic pull can’t be ignored will Zeke give in to the temptation, will Riley accept him seeing he is considerably older, how will his brother feel about it all and can they find happiness?

Wow, This book was so different than what I expected, I thought it was slow but halfway down the page it changed that was when my interest peaked, then I had to read the rest uninterrupted so I could see what happens then I was hot mouth parched and the tingling through the body where I shudder. The Hawthorne Syndicate a dark and dangerous Mafia family, with Riley and Ezekiel being the main characters in this book. Ezekiel they call him "OX" killed Riley's parents she was only five he took her to his brother and sister-in-law to look after her. Riley and Ezekiel have both had crushes on each other, when she turned eighteen things became harder between them she was the Forbidden fruit that he has become obsessed with he constantly has eyes on her, she pleasures herself of a night thinking of him. She has hardly seen him so when there is a party at her place and a family meeting she knew she would see him, she put on the skimpy outfit to get his attention.

Ox is muscle for the mob/mafia. He took care of the dirty work and didn't blink and didn't ask questions. He just got it done. After his "boss" passes, things go sideways for the outfit till Ox's sister literally steps in and takes over. Things get back on track for a while. Ox is asked to deal with a couple that is getting out of line. When Ox does that, he discovers that there was a little child in the home. He takes the kid to his brother to raise. He keeps a eye on the child and over the years the kid sees Ox has her uncle.
Riley was just a little girl when she was taken after her parents were murdered. She didn't know that at the time though. Has she got older, she started to have feelings for Ox. She knew what she wanted but she was always stopped by Ox. He fought her and his feelings for her. Read to see if they get together and if Riley will stay once she finds out the true work that Ox does.

This is a part of the Dark Tales series, and again is a fast-paced read; a low time commitment novella you can easily finish in one sitting. This storyline follows Zeke, older MMC who is infatuated with his “step-niece,” Riley (Zeke’s brother raises Riley after Zeke kills her parents as the family enforcer). Given the mafia ties, there’s always a lot that has to be accepted as the reader for the storyline to work, and because of that some things aren’t really flushed out enough (ex: in-depth details about Zeke’s family being in power, who the family’s enemies are, the kidnapping that occurs, how the relationship between Zeke and Riley is revealed to the family and if it’s accepted); this novella would have benefitted from being a bit longer or having an epilogue. The steam between Zeke and Riley is believable to a certain extent, but again, because it’s a novella, there isn’t a lot of buildup to see how Riley’s feelings developed prior to the two connecting. This was a quick read you just have to take a face value.

Sweet and steamy taboo romance.

I really liked this taboo stalker story. It was entertaining and enjoyable with some definite steam. The characters were interesting and likable. While Zeke did stalk Riley, him doing so ends up being beneficial. Riley and Zeke (the Ox aka Ezekiel) were definitely not a couple that you would imagine as being together. The relationship between them changed very quickly and both of them seemed excited by that fact. Although they weren’t really related their decision to act on their feelings still felt taboo. Zeke and Riley were so happy together that it was sweet. I loved that Zeke was willing to do anything for Riley whether it was keeping her safe or giving in to their mutual attraction. I liked how the story ended but I do wish that there was an epilogue. I recommend reading this book.

Fast-paced,steamy and short stories the author is known for. Age-gap, dark romance tropes. In this Ox the muscle that kills girls parents, but years later we all know what happens. The thing that I didn't like or I guess wanted to know was how would it all have changed if girl knew Ox had killed her parents. Would she still want him?

The storyline is flimsy as it is, you review it whether there is one there or not. Sometimes, honestly for me, these OTT stories aren't reviewed the same as other books. But when you introduce something like that allows for questions and 'what if's' which can pop that imaginary bubble that limits this OTT scenario where these stories take place, it dampens the experience. These type of books you just want to get the steamy and passion, not think.

As always, Teresa Wolf did such a great job and dragging me into this story. It really made me want to keep going, but also had such a different view, something so unexpected.
Ox is Riley's protector, he sets out to watch her and he has for the past 12 years. He watched her as she was just a small thing, all the way to her teenage years. He doesn't expect to fall in love with her, he can't, he shouldn't, it's forbidden.
Riley just wants the attention of Ox, he is tall, dark and handsome but she knows it's wrong. She doesn't care, she knows what she wants but it has to be a secret. Her parents would never allow it. It's a forbidden love affair.
However, when Riley gets taken, only Ox can get her back but could all the secrets he has kept break their feelings for each other?

Ezekiel (Ox) is brother to Grace the woman who rose to lead the criminal organisation and when trouble comes Ezekiel is there to take them down, and that's how Riley came into his life as a 5 year old girl he made an orphan. Riley gets brought up by Monty, Ezekiel's older brother and his wife, but shes never far from Ezekiels sights as he follows her through the years, as protections turns I to desire. Riley can't help the draw she feels towards Ezekiel, she wants him, but will learning the truth about her family make her see him differently? Well written steamy age gap, insta loving short, fast paced, forbidden romance. With teasingly hot scenes!

A dark, twisted forbidden love story that starts with death and ends in love and wonder.

This is a great short story, I really enjoyed the world building and character depth, especially their inner monologues. I loved how Zekes character evolved from family hitman, to protector to lover, he is such a brilliant character no matter the differences between him and Riley you root for him and his affections.

The FMC Riley is a fiesta young girl who doesn't realise so much of her life is hidden from her but she becomes her own biggest supporter when she decides to go for Zeke. I love the way her bravado is strong yet her inner voice is full of doubt and questions.

This is a great read, with tension, multi pov and steam.

This is the story of Zeke (Ox) and Riley.
Their story started long ago and they've known each other for years. In fact, he is the reason she had to go live with his brother at the age of five.
Death and secrets don't stop him from following her life very closely nor the change in his feelings towards her.
As for her, she is pulled to him, but will learning the truth set them apart and change that?
This is an amazing, HOT story where love blooms from a place of darkness.
Everyone deserves a HEA and Ox and Riley are no exception.
I definetly recommend this book.

This is a short erotic dark romance with an older/younger theme. The story is well written and easy to read. This is the story of Zeke, aka ‘The Ox”, a 44 year old hitman for the Mob, and his 18 year old step niece, Riley. Through the years, Zeke has secretly been keeping a watchful eye over Riley until she comes of age and they can no longer keep their feelings hidden.

A fast paced novella with some sexy hot scenes.

Another enjoyable, riveting read from Ms Wolf. Well recommended if you have an hour or so to fill.

Ox (Zeke) has to do his job for the family. While leaving he gets stopped by a five year old Riley. It's not her fault that her parents were part of a hit. He takes her to his brothers house and they raise her like she's their own. Zeke has always loved Riley and he has been there to protect her but Riley has always loved Zeke. She's finally gets Zeke to admit his attraction and love to her. Even though she called him Uncle Zeke he wasn't an Uncle by blood. This was a short sweet steamy story. Love prevails. Riley our heroine was abandoned by her parents and found by Zeke who decided to give her to his brother and sister in law. Although he gave her up. Zeke has followed and watched over Riley. Zeke is 26 years older than Riley and is covered in tattoos and scars, and built like an ox.
As Riley gets older Zeke begins to desire Riley and wants her in a way that he knows is wrong. Riley is having these same inappropriate desires and on her 18th birthday she decides to make her wishes known. Now that Zeke knows that she feels the same way that he does it’s nearly impossible to fight both their feelings. This was a steamy, very quick enjoyable read.

Dark Twisted Love!

This is short but very sweet. He is the hitman for his family. She is collateral damage. But he saves her and protects her. And eventually falls for her. Will she return his love? You can probably guess. But there is a twist. Teresa Wolf has a talent of telling a complex story with minimal words. And she does it well. I did receive an advance copy for my honest review. But I also purchase it for my personal library. That way I can come back to it and maybe find another nuance I missed the first time around.

There is a large age gap in this story, but the leading lady was the one taking charge in all of the sexual situations. Zeke took Riley from her home after he killed her parents and gave her to his brother to raise. Once she became a woman he suddenly saw her differently. They had some very steamy scenes, but I was creeped out by the fact that she kept calling him Uncle Zeke.

This is a short story of a young woman and an older man. Ox is a hitman for his family. Riley is the daughter of one of his assignments. He has his brother and sister-in-law adopt her. When Riley turns eighteen, she learns about her family being in the mob and its jobs. She has set her sights on Ox and is determined to get him despite the thirty plus year difference. Not a very captivating story and a little creepy.

Forbidden relationship between a hit man who takes the daughter after killing her parents. He takes her to be raised by his brother and sister n law. As she gets older they both have developed this forbidden attraction to each other. Once she is 18 they act on it after an intense encounter of her being kidnapped. Short read and I felt like something was missing in the end like there should have more to the ending.

Ox put Riley into the care of his brother when she was five. He became her uncle. Fast forward, shes twenty, grown into a lovely lady that has a crush on her uncle. He also has a feeling for her. Situations are unfolding for this family, as well as he’s the one who made her an orphan! So you know the heat is on when these two get together! What will happen when she finds out. Such a great, fast, sizzling book to read.

The older she became, he fell more and more. She grew up loving him as an uncle, but that love changed over time. Now it is their chance. The obvious taboos do not keep them apart, but there is still something that might unravel their relationship.
