Ichikawa is ratcheting up the pressure. Phos has been pushed beyond the breaking point (but there's always more to be broken), and that's just what Aechmea wants.

An absolute tragic momentum of a tale filled with propulsionary grief, and selfishness. Everyone is so beautiful, yet so destructive.

Grandísima Ichikawa y grandísimo Houseki no Kuni.

- some honesty at the beginning would've prevented all of this
- i don't really understand the gems. are they really against phos that they refuse to consider that maybe stopping the endless fighting might be a solution worth considering?
- being on the moon spoiled the earth gems and stripped them of their humility and iguess that says something
- so, the conclusion is humans are the worst? cool, cool, cool.

sincèrement ce manga est l’un des meilleurs que j’ai jamais lu de ma vie. l’histoire est tellement incroyable et recherchée et la tournure que l’œuvre prend est trop estomaquante mais dans le bon sens… phos i will protect you with my whole life même si tu fais n’importe quoi j’en ai rien à faire !! c’est réellement un des protagonistes les mieux écrits que j’ai pu lire

«Adamant me reconstruyó. Él todavía me ama».

:(

description

La traducción para los no bilingües:

Cinnabar: ¿estás bien Bortz?🏃🏻‍♀️
Bortz: sí sí no te preocupes.
Cinnabar: ¿pero seguro? ¿No estás oxidad...?

Wow! I've got a lot of feelings about this Volume! As time passes, the chapters become even more depressing than before!

So, here's what happened; Phos goes alone to Adamant and tries to convince him to pray for the Lunarians. The Earth gems, however, break him to pieces and scatter his fragments all around the place, so the Lunarians would have a hard time finding him again.

After 220 years, almost all the Earth gems have forgotten about him. Save for Euclase and Adamant, who decide to put him back together. Phos tries again to force Adamant to pray, but fails. Now, he has completed changed! He is no longer the silly, but happy and determined gem we met at the beginning of the story, but a furious, depressed person, who wants to take revenge for what the Earth gems did to him and get the job done.

To be honest, when I first met Phos, I wasn't very fond of him. For the most part, I found him to be kinda annoying, but now that I see his current self, I wish he could remain like the go-lucky person he was. I admit, seeing him becoming stronger and gaining the respect of the fellow gems was nice, but that's it.

Anyway, Phos decides to shatter all the Earth gems and force Adamant to pray, so he gets a handful of his Gem friends, a spaceship and multiple Lunarians and attack the Earth gems…

one of the most talented authors i’ve ever seen in Japanese manga

she somehow always keeps making this manga stressful to read with every volume. I keep thinking about how beautiful Phos and their struggle is that I can’t feel bad for anyone else. Beautifully and tragically captivating.

I found 11th part of The Land of Lustrous less interesting and gripping than the rest of the story and it was caused by few things. First, it is still the issue I have with such a huge change in Phos. She became some kind of monster, and completely lost the goal she had at the beginning - to bring back the other Juweles. Now she became obsessed with only one thing - to make Brilliant pary, and that is fair enough, however I still can't see how would she forget the things she had been previously obsessed about. It just didn't make as much sense for me. She has also turned into a cruel and mindless creature and I just simply can't agree to that.
Another thing that bothered me was the role of Smoky Quarz and her falling in love with the Prince - why falling in love was related to her change? Why couldn't she just change without becoming a bit silly and annoying.
Last thing, the explanation of Prince of how he wants the Brilliant to pray feels a bit forced, and I felt it was created only for the story to make sense at this point. Also, because of the prolonging of the plot, I felt that the author didn't have an idea on how to go on further.
I will read next chapters once they get published. I just hope itll be sooner rather than later because I still want to know what exactly caused the defect in Brilliant and what would happen once he finally prays.

The previous volumes showcase the downfall of Phosphophyllite as they lose pieces of their body and their memories. Somehow, I found myself curious to see what else their quest for the truth of their existence and their master would cost them, and was frighteningly enthralled as Phos’s head was replaced and the inner urge to rebel was ignited by Lapis’s inquisitive awakening.
However, this volume asks a raw, almost disturbing question: can you build a human? The moment the Prince revealed his plan for Phos, it was as though the entire series built toward the moment Phos walked into their home, held together by a foreign alloy and a despair only humans can understand. The story leading to the chilling arrival of Phos to Kongo’s room was contemplative, but this volume reached a new level of existentialism and depth.
I wholeheartedly hope the author will return from hiatus to finish the story such that the following chapters may also be compiled into a physical volume.

3.5 this was such a brutal, heartbreaking end to this story. the art was beautiful as always. this book really made me rethink the purpose of the story. why was it being told? there were so many themes of change, growth, self harm, deception. it was hard to watch our hero grow into something so twisted and hurt. i never could relate or understand the thinking of any of the characters other than phos. it felt like the gems stopped caring about one another in a way, especially the gems who went to the moon. this was a tough read emotionally and there was a lot that i had to question, but i was thankful it made me think and self reflect so much.

I no longer blame Ichikawa for having writer’s block. I never did to begin with, but I understand more now… for a story and cast so unique, so unconventional, where do you go from here? Wherever the artist’s vision leads, I will willingly follow. But man, what a cliffhanger…

I do think I may be mentally scarred from some of the imagery in these chapters though. And everything, really. If they ended up serializing this, too, I’m not sure I would survive :P

Count me with the people eagerly awaiting Volume 12, whenever it comes out.

Also, SHORT-HAIRED BORT we love

Heart broken

I initially didn't like how things turned out to be in the beginning of this volume but it grew on me and it made more sense later on reading this volume. It has become so much more interesting over the last few volumes and I believe it's entering it's final arc. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it and will keep supporting it..thank you Ichikawa sensei for creating this

I think this volume is the magnum opus of Phos’s hatred towards himself and a crude and also compelling of his spiraling towards insanity. He is braking most of the principles he had as a character for it’s goal. He doesn’t care anymore who is hurt, he just wants to succeed.
And i think this is a great way to show how human nature works, we as humans are volatile creatures, put in enough trauma and pain and we’ll change completely to someone not even slightly resembling our former self.

The peak of differentiation in the series regarding characters and motivation. Completely split, there's a tonal shift after the 200 or so year gap. Pho's has completely evolved into a villain of sorts, bent on a revenge fueled purpose - purpose itself. The precipice of existentialism and genuinely heartbreaking.

Dived right into vol. 5 after the anime, and I think the manga excels at what most manga don't: building up tension naturally. Each confrontation has a purpose, and brings us as readers closer to the central mystery surrounding the Lunarians in such an organic fashion. I really hope the hiatus ends soon.

Everything is going wrong and Phos is completely wrecked. This is the darkest volume yet, with some of the creepiest art, and depressing turns. We finally start to get some answers and payoffs to the things that have been going on since the first volume of the series. This might be my favourite volume yet and the series is really reaching a climax.

“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” Phos has tried hard and long to do what’s right for her fellow gems but it seems as if nobody is ever on her side and some have even given up on the plan and have become complacent. She finally broke and all hell is breaking loose. Very good volume!
