I thought this book was well written. It is a long book yet it did not lose momentum.

Full disclosure, I am Italian American and I was already very interested in the topic of the Jewish community in Italy. The story seemed so real it almost sounded as if it was based on a true story.

The book was very carefully researched and her use of the Italian language was accurate.

This was the first book I have read that was written by Lisa Scottoline. I am anxious to read her mystery books.

Lisa Scottolini is a great author! I felt I knew the characters personally. With each one that we lost I felt like I had lost a friend. There is so little written about this terrible time in Italy, and she did a great job keeping it historically correct and realistic.

A lovely change of genre for this author. WWII in Rome and I can't seem stop reading the WWII books and this one is exceptional.
