The way Douglass writes just moves me in a way that a book hasn’t in a long time! Absolutely loved reading it

I have to go back and re-review all other books I've given 5 stars, because this is truly a 5 star read. The first great American novelist, indeed!

Great edition of a very well selected and incredibly important set of texts. I enjoyed the introduction as well.

LOVED the first part but got bored with the speeches. I think they just complied too many of them, they were all very similar IMO.
