Ellie: I always knew the only person who would save me after crash landing on a primitive jungle planet was myself. Our corporate overlords won't be coming for us, and the alien I've been dreaming about might say a lot of pretty words about coming to find me, but he's not real. Definitely not. It's up to me to keep everyone fed, but it's slim pickings on the beach where we've landed. I'm afraid my strength - and my sanity - might start to fade before I can find our next meal.

Anghar: I know my Ellie is the perfect mate for me from the moment she arrives in the dreamspace. She has a hunter's spirit, seeking to provide for her tribe though she does not know our lands and the creatures that live here well. But my linasha does not appreciate my presence in her dreams. I think she does not dare to hope that I will save her and her tribe. But I am coming for her, as fast as I am able. When I arrive, I will prove that I will be the best mate to her, that I can keep her safe and well fed, that I will worship her always. I just have to get to her before anything else does...

this was liz and raahosh in a different font ✨✨ i'm not saying this in a bad way but it really has familiarities: hunter couple, caretaking him while he's attacked, second in command, her rejecting him at first....

this was a little darker than the first one and i didn't enjoy that much

This is book two in the Raskarrans series and is even better than the first, by a mile.

I felt so badly for Ellie, our heroine. She'd been living, if you want to call it that, as essentially nothing more than a slave to the upper tier of society. Never having enough to eat, living in squalid quarters, nothing to look forward to. Crash landing on this alien planet hasn't been much different. Fighting for their lives against heat, deadly animals, and near starvation. Until she starts having dreams of a beautiful alien who tells her he is coming to save her, to just hold on. She thinks at first it's a fever dream or that she's been exposed to something that is making her delirious...until he shows up and literally saves her and her friends from a certain death. Scared that her dreams have come true, she does the one thing she knows how to do and that's run. She runs from her friends, she runs from this male, Anghar, who tells her she is his fated mate and he only wants to take care of her and share a life with her. You can certainly see how that would be a terrifying situation to be in.

Anghar for his part is such a gentleman. He comes to understand that she can't communicate with him (other than in her dreams) and that she is running from more than just his presence. He is very patient and gentle with her, never doing anything that she isn't 100% on board with. I really liked how he showed Ellie that he meant no harm and allowed her to decide for herself if this is what she wanted. Ellie transforms from a woman with nothing to live for to a woman with everything to fight for, and is becoming a bit of a badass huntress in her own right!

Still hate the cover art but the story inside is worth the read. 4.5 stars

*3.5*

This series takes a very overdone concept and manages to still make it interesting and slightly different in some ways. I like that the author shows, doesn't tell with her writing. I also really appreciate the depth of her characters and how she really sets the girls apart from one another. I feel like that's not something we always get with this trope and really helps this series stand out from the others. I also really like the concept of the dreamspace. A+ for creativity there!

Anghar is a very soft and sweet lover, and I think I just prefer a more rough around the edges type of man, so I think that was what knocked this down from a 4 star to a 3.5 for me. Still well worth the read though!

It was good. It could have been better which would have been maybe another 50 pages of everything else minus them being in recovery by the river so that was incredibly time consuming in this novel and cost so much real estate.

I enjoyed this story even more than the first as I loved the more slow burn of them coming together vs it happening so immediately in the first book. Ellie has taken on the role of figuring out how to feed the girls who were stranded and is finding that the beach they crash landed on doesn’t have much options for food for them which is making her feel discouraged. She meets Anghar, the tribe hunter, in the dreamspace as his fated mate but doesn’t trust that someone is going to save her as that’s the fairytale she was fed as a child looking to become better than the Bottom Tier that she was working in a slaughterhouse. You know Ellie and Anghar are fated mates in the first book and so this was a very satisfying second story to see happen. Anghar was the most patient and sweetest MC who just unconditionally loved caring for Ellie how she best needed the entire story. They’re alone for most of it as Ellie gets frightened and runs into the forest making Anghar chase after her. They get into trouble with another tribe and end up separated from the other girls and his tribe. Didn’t want to put this one down and finished it in one pleasant afternoon. Such an entertaining and sweet story; 4 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4terrific 🌟s for Anghar and Ellie

I really enjoy these raskarran warriors. Fierce, strong , caring and loving all at the same time. Anghar and Ellie have been sharing a dreamspace for a while. He feels blessed and can't believe his good fortune in finding a mate. She thinks she's sick and going insane. Ellie doesn't understand that her experiences in her dreams are real. That is until she finally meets him when he and his fellow warriors rescues them from some alien beasts. When Ellie Sees Anghar is really she snaps and runs. Anghar chases after her and their adventure begins. They come across dangers, they work together and develop a trust between them which grows and grows. Ellie learns that she is more worthy of love and a good male that she ever thought possible and Anghar sees a future he never ever thought he would!d be blessed enough to have. Together they over come language barriers and dangers to forms strong connection filled with love and trust. I look forward to reading more books in this series 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

What a fabulous read!!

Really enjoyed the romance between Anghar and Ellie! Really pleased that the author has written about a woman of colour!! The story had adventure, excitement, fear and love. This is a story of Ellie who had had some very bad expo back on Earth where the masses were treated like peasants. Where girls were abused especially those who worked in the slaughterhouse!! She had lost all trust in the human race!! When she gets an opportunity to leave her poverty stricken life in earth, she jumped at the chance. However, the space craft she was on crash landed along with eleven other women!! That is when the dreams started!! And her meeting with Angher. What an alien!! He is careful how he approached Ellie in the dreamscape. When she actually meets him in the flesh, that is when their story begins. He is everything a mate should be: kind, patient, considerate and non-judgmental!! I really love these books!! Thank you Heather!! A wonderful read!!

Things I didn't like about the book:

We start off a little after the crash but a lot before they are all rescued by the ... I don't remember how to spell their race but basically the aliens from Gregar's tribe, so I get the joy of now reading some of the same things and conversation between Ellie whenever Liv was around.

Two, probably the most annoying thing is that in this book, Anghar (or whatever his name is) mentions that if a female is intended for more than one male, that they would all be present together in the dreamscape/space, and in all honesty I'm hoping this series doesn't cross into the why choose/reverse harem bullshit that seems to liter my Pinterest feed lately. I'm sure a lot of women love the whole polygamy thing when it's not irl but I don't and probably won't continue or skip books that have that in it. It's such a stupid concept for fated mates if you ask me.

Ellie's character was better in the previous book, though I can see some of her issues, and I'm happy it wasn't full on sexy fun times in the dreamscape the first time they met like in Liv's horny book. She, like Liv, is very fucken selfish, but more so if you can believe it. Anghar is hurt and bleeding, makes sure they get to safety before he passes out and what does she do? Doesn't try to clean the wound. Doesn't even look at it or change the bandages. Hell she doesn't even have the decency to sit beside him. No, this selfish bitch fucken opens the backpack to eat some food because she's hungry and even though she doesn't gorge herself on it, it's not because she wants to save any for him. Nope, it's 100% because she doesn't want to make herself sick.
She also has the audacity to bitch about the hides/furs bed that he left for her, saying they didn't look comfortable. Bitch please! He did everything for you and what did you have before? Oh yeah, a parachute on top of sand. Fuck you, seriously. And the next day when she wakes up, what does she do? Yeah, looks at his wound, sees it's angry and inflamed, and that the bandages are dirty but she just ties it tighter and then goes to look for more food and drinks the rest of his water. A little while later (a couple of days in the book maybe), she keeps gorging herself on the food in this cave instead of rationing it like anyone normally would because who knows how long he'll be out for, and to make matters worse, she decides to pray to Lina (Anghar's Goddess of the forest) and do you know what for? For herself, that Lina looks after HER. Not them, not him getting better. No, for her fucken self. I get her world and upbringing were different but the author is using him to say she's generous and caring and I'm sorry but where the fuck is that visible from her view? She's absolutely none of those things. He praises her so much, all the fucken time to her face, in his head, etc when none of that it evident in her actions or character. Man these alien men are certainly pussy whipped even before getting any. So fucken stupid.

Her character made it so hard to get through this book. Normally for a book this short it should take a few hours but holy fuck it took me days because I kept getting annoyed by her, and a bit by him for praising her when she's a cunt.

I think the biggest/only plus going for Anghar is that even though Ellie decides she wants him to help her forget, he refuses to indulge her physical needs and decides that he wants her to love him, not crave him.

Going back to Ellie for a moment here, her background story wasn't consistent. First she believes one of the supervisors, that he's really interested in her and Neris (her friend) takes her aside and shows her that it's all just a game to them and that she should stay away from them. Then by the time she's telling her story to Anghar at about the 80% point, she's telling him about how she used to have to still pleasure them and her friend Neris told her to be into it because it would make her life easier. It's confusing because didn't Neris just warn her about these fucks before and to stay away from them? Now it seems like she was encouraging it. Not to mention that Neris before seemed to be put off by the supervisors but then during this part of the story she apparently has a few of them wrapped around her fingers? Sure, the inconsistency is more on Neris' part but it's still a part of Ellie's past that doesn't match up.

Much like the last book it's repetitive as fuck. Seriously, how can you write the same line (with a mild variation) twice in a row and see nothing wrong with it? "A pitiful offering of assistance to the guy who threw himself in front of a knife to protect me. He threw himself in front of a knife to protect me." Maybe this is the first time I've seen the same line repeated right after the last but as I said, the whole book is repetitive, I'm just using this particular gem as an example.

By the end of this book I was torn between a 1 star and a 2 because I really didn't like Ellie and since a lot of the chapters were from her POV it was hard to like the book. He deserved better, but this author clearly took inspiration from other authors that did the same thing (create absolutely horrible female characters and have their males hype them up). Not to mention the fact that I am not sure how I feel about the author making the Cliff Top Tribe insinuate that they've fucked animals when they asked if the human females had warm and wet cunts, saying fucking them wouldn't be like fucking animals.

I don't know if I'll continue with this series, as the first book was not the greatest and this one was... Well I mean you can see from my review. I may give 1 more a shot but not right now. I am more interested in the guys rather than the girls (Although I kinda like Sam and Khadija, and wouldn't mind their books if their characters aren't ruined).

Good

Note: this is the second book in the series, and is best read after the first - although it does occur concurrently to that book, certain events in it are explained there from alternate perspectives.

When Ellie won the lottery to go to the alpha colony, she thought it was her way out of the virtual slavery she endured. When their escape pod crash landed on an unknown planet, she doesn’t realize that it is the beginning of a far better future.

This is an enjoyable tale of a human woman who meets an alien male in her dreams, only to discover he is real.
There is lots of action and adventure, and although the heroine has a traumatic past, the book is very upbeat and has a happy ending.
A great series for those looking for a sci-fi romance with an alien hero!

4.5 stars.

Great series overall - MMCs are these strong, protective, alpha complete softies, nurturing, and respectful to their FMCs. FMCs are competent, and strong, often those who've had to shoulder the world and their traumas all by themselves and generally have a hard time believing they deserve good and "saving." MMCs are ultimate caretakers, the “rescue” trope in a way that the FMCS always retain their agency and autonomy. The serie is at a similar level of Victoria Aveline and Elizabeth Stephens. Personally while I’ve read a lot of Ruby Dixon books - there’s just something about her characters that are always off putting (it’s generally just a piece of their whole) so I think these are way better imo. And better writing and MCs imo than Alison Aimes, Amanda Milo, and Naomi Lucas.

Really enjoyed the FMC/MMC dynamics here and their slow burn romance - how he takes the time to slowly show her through actions his intentions and gain her trust... Overall plot was also quite interesting.

The story has a slow start since you’re essentially revisiting events from the first book but through another character’s perspective—this time, Ellie, a woman of color, and Anghar. Some readers might find that repetitive, but it isn’t a drawback. It provides valuable insight into their thoughts and actions during that period.

This installment doesn’t dive deeply into the other characters, but it does explore Ellie’s background more fully and gives additional detail about the dystopian Earth they came from. Unlike the first book, where the romance developed quickly and with little conflict, this one unfolds as a slow burn—and it makes sense once you understand the difficult lives the women endured on Earth, particularly Ellie. It also shows how, despite the language barrier, Anghar is patient and considerate with her. He proves to be exactly what she needs in a mate.

Loved it

Ellie came from a sucky human earth time. With not much to hope for, lack of freedom, and abuse all around.
She gets a lottery trip to a destination that is supposed to alot her land and a better life. But she and other human women crash land in an escape pod
Even though she is slow to trust and believe in her destined Mate. He earns her trust, love.
Wonderful story and relationship build up. Looking forward to others in the series.
Personally suspect the evil corp deliberately crash them and spread disease for whatever reason. But time will hopefully tell me if I was correct or not.

4 ⭐️

This was so good, but I do admit I liked book 1 a little better - I think Ellie's reluctance (which is completely understandable) just stood out since Liv was the opposite.

– Dual pov
– Fated mates (meet in the dreamspace first, then find each other in real life)
– Virgin H/celibate h
– Alien H/human h
– No cheating or OM/OW drama (it doesn't even exist in their culture - these aliens are fully devoted to their mates!)
– Possible triggers:
– HEA ending + epilogue

This was such a sweet and tender romance compared to the first book. Anghar was so kind, patient and caring with his attention to Ellie. He gave her the time and space she needed to wrap her mind around the fact that they were Fated Mates. I also loved seeing how Ellie's reserves slowly melted away. Between tending his wounds and learning to communicate despite a slight language barrier, it was so sweet to see her fall deeply in love with Anghar. I also loved that he always called her "My Ellie". I think my heart melted every time he said it! Overall, this was such a sweet romance and a great addition to the series!

I’m liking this series more than I expected to. I think one thing this differs in is the closer look at the impact of ptsd after a lifetime of living in a dystopian society. On the one hand you’re free, on the other hand, wherever you go, there you are.
It’s about being brave enough to accept better when you never thought you’d get a chance.

The social strata, work programs and social tiers are very much relevant to certain parts of the world in RL, which provides another interesting angle to this, psychologically speaking. But for luck of the draw it could be any one of us living in a situation like that right now in certain parts of the world, yet there would be no handsome group of alien men to save us.

When Ellie first sees Anghar outside of the dreamsapce, he's trying to save her and the other women from predators, she freaks out and runs off. Of course Anghar goes after his linasha. He catches up to her, but they encounter some trouble. As they make their way back to his tribe's territory, their relationship grows. Anghar is always respectful of Ellie's boundaries. His understanding and patience show Ellie that he can be trusted with her heart and body. There was a bit of a road-trip aspect to this book that I enjoyed. This was more slow-burn that Stranded, but I didn't mind.

I started the series with the first book and although they could all be stand-alones I found that by starting in the beginning it made me want to follow the whole story.

It was a fantasy with alien and high stakes and love but then equally it's about two people growing together and finding out about each other over time. It's not rushed or uninteresting and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to see a good fantasy romance could be.

The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was comparing this book to the others which are in the series and some of those appealed to me more then others, which is understandable as you follow the lives of 12 people towards overcoming boundaries, personal issues and grief.

Absolutely wonderful perfect rendition of how her trauma stood in the way of connecting fast and soon with her mate. It's completely delved into and progressed upon as she learns to heal and trust her mate. Only downside I think j's that the romantic development aspect was a but neglected. When they first have sex, I wish she did some ruminating on not only how respectful and safe her mate has been thus far, but other qualities about him that make her love him as a person instead of just being the first respectful guy interested in her.

I was a little frustrated in the beginning of this book, because it spent a lot of time rehashing the events of the first book- just in Ellie’s POV. I understand it was supposed to stand in stark contrast to Liv’s dreamspace experiences, but it still kinda annoyed me. …But then this book quickly overcame my frustrations and warmed my heart. Ellie had such a horrible experience in the slaughterhouse, and she shared that with Anghar after he had already flipped her world upside down with his patience and sweetness. I’m such a sucker for this type of story.

Giving me the feels

Loved this story. It was great to see these characters grow together and to lear more about each of their pasts and how that has shaped them. Strong fmc with a sweet gooey inside and a alpha male character in touch with his emotions and also ferocious when he needs to be. Can not wait for the next one in this series and learning more about this world they are in and finding out just what makes each of these characters tick.

Even better...

...than the first in this series. I also slowed down and read more, now that I know the author’s tempo and understand a little more about her vision, and I like it. Well developed characters with good arcs and motion. Story paced very well and I didn’t find myself bored or bogged down with the details that discouraged me in the previous book. I would recommend, but I do think it’s important to read the first one first.

The start of this book was slow and I had myself skimming since we get taken back before they even meet and I hate re reading stuff that’s already happened even if it’s in another pov but anyways this book was so good once they get to meet each other. We get a little action and meet the other tribe and I really loved this one the spice was perfect and I loved how we got more. The characters are my favourite so far! I just have nothing really bad to say about them. Read this book!!!

I was really drawn into this world in Book 1, and I have been eagerly awaiting Book 2. Ellie and Anghar are such fantastic characters… I loved watching their relationship grow. Ellie is such an amazing woman… you get to learn more about her backstory and it’s just amazing to see how far she comes.

I cannot recommend this series enough, and now I’m counting the days until Book 3 comes out!

I am really enjoying the Mates for Raskarrans series by Heather Fox. This one focuses on another couple. By the end of the story many adventures have had been had, including several encounters with a rather sinister group of Raskarrans and eventually ends up at the home base of the group that saved the human women. Can't wait for the next one.

I read all of these prior to reviewing. Series thoughts: really, really good. Strong individually but makes a really nice, cohesive whole.

Book specific: I did initially think this was following too closely in the footsteps of IPB, but by the end it was different enough to stand out. Good MCs with logical and understandable barriers between them, with a lovely resolution. Ellie is a badass.

Interesting read love how the mates meet up in their dreamworlds before they even meet. The difficulties these women meet on earth are justly rewarded after their difficult times

Once again, another perfect story!

Anghar and Ellie are the second couple to experience the dreams where it is possible to talk to their mate and understand what is being said! Anghar is patient and calming until she finally accepts him!
