The Unseen

No more f*cking around. I'm done with obsessions, of waiting idly by. This time, I'm taking what I want.

But when the woman I crave above all else thirsts for vengeance, I'm determined to bring it to her on a silver platter. I will be the blood-soaked monster protecting her back, and justice shall be hers.

Forgive me Father, for I will sin.

** Retribution is book 2 of the Vengeance Series. Although a standalone, it is recommended that the reader read the series in order, as there is a continuation of events and reappearance of characters. Upon Blooded Lips is book 1.

** Retribution, although a romance, is an extremely dark MF book that may upset some readers. A detailed warning is provided at the beginning of the book. If you have triggers or do not enjoy dark themes, please do not read. Not for under 18s due to graphic sexual encounters and adult situations. Please read responsibly.

First of all,
TRIGGER WARNINGS: etc etc…..

Take A Minute GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHY

(Yeah, I know, Titus, me too.)
I just hope I managed to cover all of the trigger warnings.😏

Now, One more trigger warning for the review🙃😆, there will be a ton of cursing in this so ….yeah, be warned. Consider this as me popping the lid on my inner crass……or me channeling my girl, Duchess🤣

John wick 3.... | Entertainment

I dnf’d the first book, Upon Bloodied Lips, in this series but someone ( you know who you are, fucker) convinced me to give this one a try and they reiterated that this was an interconnected standalone so I won’t feel out of place or like I was dropped in the middle of a story.

And I gladly took the nudge cuz let’s face it, I am a greedy whore for dark books and fucked up characters.

American History X - Album on Imgur

A bit of the storyline before I plunge into this review:

Trey Williams is an Unseen. He coasts through life without getting noticed and that’s why he’s able to do some fucked up shit, like torturing, killing and stalking (you know, the attractive and demented type) and is able to get away with it.

But the loneliness and ignorance gets to him. He wants someone to see him and love him…..so he gets obsessed and stalks girls whom “God” chooses for him. His last obsession was Tessa who he stalked for 12 years by becoming a priest in her private school’s church but she slipped out of his grasp and fell in love with her two step brothers ( Upon Bloodied lips is Tessa”s Story). Now, he is more than determined to get his next girl…..whether she wants to be his or not.

autumn reeser gifs | WiffleGif

On the other hand is Rebecca…Trey’s next obsession. Trey meets her on a sex cam website where she…you know, becomes a cam girl for paying clients. Or rather, she is forced to.
But Trey doesn’t know that and he instantly gets consumed with Rebecca. He stalks her and decides to take her for himself but discovers that it isn’t that easy. Rebecca has been facing something sinister her whole life and now she wants RETRIBUTION.

Trey has to decide if he wants to not only just help her, but also save her from herself. And make her fall in love with him. How much would he be willing to sin to save his girl?

So, that covers the need-to-know information if you decide to read this book.
Now, let’s dive into the Pros and Cons - Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives

PROS: (good news first, obviously)

☠️Darkness!!!
This book was very, very dark as shown by the almost never-ending lengthy list of trigger warnings.
The mutilation, torture and sex shown in graphic detail was like a fever dream for a dark junkie like me.

Held (Held, #1) by Kimberly A. Bettes

Some of the dark scenes were creative as fuck!! I was literally picking up my phone again and again to text my babe Duchess for discussing the blood and evil that was in the pages……but then I kept putting it down to read more and have more material to discuss lmao.

Some of my fav dark scenes were Rachel’s attitude adjustment, what Earl (one of the resident piece of shit pedophilic trash) describes he’d do to Rosalie, what was done to the “racist rapist cunt” (most fav😈) , and the silver scene with the doctor.

Michaella can write fucked up stuff is all I’ll say after that. 🖤

☠️The two FBI agents
I fucking loved Dutch and Susannah. They were two pretty kickass, successful women and I loved seeing them in action. I think they were the only two characters that I wholly loved in this book.

☠️The Plot
There was a lot going on in this story. All Rebecca and Trey did was kill and fuck, then rinse and repeat it. It became boring after sometime. But!! Besides that, I liked the story going on in the background, what with the FBI investigation, Third parties taking interest in Rebecca and Trey’s actions, and the threesome’s (Tessa, Nate and Eric) involvement in it. Also, the last 30% was absolutely amazing!!! (Except the easy forgiveness but I’ll come back to it later.)

CONS:

⚔️Rebecca
I did NOT like her. At all. I sympathised with what she went through but man, her behaviour was so unlike something I would willingly want to subject myself to.

She was this OTT villain/anti-heroine with a silly, childish behaviour of sorts?,……..umm, kind of like the heroine in Sick Fux by Tillie Cole , except that Rebecca didn’t even have insanity and psychotic breaks to blame like the FMC in Sick Fux.

She was all over the place with her acts of giggling while torturing someone, licking knives etc etc. If you love Sick Fux and K.A Knight’s books, then I think you’ll love this FMC, but she was so not for me.

⚔️Trey
While Trey was patient, calculative and methodical in his kills(which I really liked), he was much like a side character in the book given what little he did and controlled. He was almost bland and even dull….like a 2 dimensional character with no depth, or personality.

Create Your Own Instagram Story GIFs [Guide]
(Trey should take my advice, really)

⚔️Insta-love
Okay, so for me, Insta-love is a trope that needs to be handled pretty fucking carefully if you need it to be good. Here though, I am sorry to say, it was a disaster.

It was like, uhhh..…indulge me a bit with your open imaginations. Suppose there are two people called Insta-love and they had a quickie.
Trey and Rebecca’s love was so Insta that it’d be that quickie between two insta-loves. Suffice to say, it was unbelievable and I was scoffing the whole time when they first met and ‘fell in love’
Also, I didn’t feel any chemistry between them. It was just blood and sex, and while I appreciate that a lot, I needed that chemistry in a romance story.

⚔️Writing Style
This one’s totally on me. I felt that everything was moving too fast and there was not even a second given to the characters to just take a breather and show some emotions regarding their past or present happenings and developments. It made me detach from the story at places where I expected emotions to be there and there weren’t any.

Fucking Nothing Leonard Geist GIF - FuckingNothing LeonardGeist ChrisCooper - Discover & Share GIFs

⚔️. 🚧🚨🚨MAJOR SPOILER!!!🚨🚨🚧

Conclusion
I would recommend it to people who like books by Amo Jones, K.A. Knight, and/or Sick Fux by Tillie Cole.

WOW…. WOW WOW WOWWWWW!!!!!! 🤯🤯🤯

First off let me start by saying that Michaella Dieter is a beyond brilliant, out of this world writer…. I don’t know how this woman’s mind works and I don’t even want to try to understand…. SHE’S SIMPLY PHENOMENAL!!!!!! 🙌🏾

Now onto this insane novel…. It is book 2/3 in The Vengeance Series… Book 1 was Upon Blooded Lips which I ignorantly THOUGHT was my favorite book of the year….. Now I know it’s my second favorite book of the year… Because Retribution had no business being what it was and I DEVOURED this book!!!!

This book is the epitome of Trigger Warnings central… Retribution is not just a dark romance…. It’s like dark dark darkkkkkk. Pits of hell dark!!! But man is it intriguing, delicious, disturbing, wicked and damn right VENGEFUL!!!

I’m not going to go into the characters because there’s a lot of them but they are all amazing!!! The relationship, care, love and protectiveness that Trey gives Rebecca, ughhhh be still my heart!! But what I love most is that Rebecca SEES Trey for who he is. These two are truly made for each other… Oh and the sex is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’m going to wrap this up because my mind is still scrambled from what the hell I just read and my body is currently itching for book 3! 🙈

If you can handle it, then come join the dark side!!! And if you’ve already read Upon Blooded Lips, you may or may not be reunited with some of your favorites 😈

(I recommend reading Upon Blooded Lips before Retribution as both books are connected)

Wow, this book really is a wild ride. It's dark, gritty and incredibly heartbreaking. Maybe not a book for everyone. But I am glad I read it, it is really good.

It picks up right after Upon Blooded Lips. This book is about The Unseen/Trey and you meet Rebecca in this book. Rebecca is imprisoned in a sex ring. Mama en papa do the most horrendous things to her and to her sisters. People come and go and abuse and rape the children.

This book is extremely dark. Way darker than the first one. And my dark and blackened heart was completely immersed in this story.
I did have a bit of trouble getting into it. But that is mostly based on the fact that in the first book the love between the characters flew off the pages. The need, the urge, the love. I still feel the love between the brothers and Tessa, days after I've read it.
The love between Trey and Rebecca didn't affect me as much as I would have wanted. I know the circumstances are completely different. And I can't compare it at all.
But even after Trey saves her from the House of Horrors. I didn't feel their love in my bones. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they don't love one another. But I missed that aching feeling I had in the first book.
After I accepted that, I could fully enjoy the book.

Like most people, I f*****g loathe people who rape and abuse children. And I fully understood Rebecca's need to get revenge. And not just that. But to expose those who hurt her and her sisters to the world. I supported her along her journey. And that last death, my oh my, so dark. But so deserved.

You really need to be strong to read this book. You really need to be able to handle how dark the book is. If you can. It's a beautitul story. Maybe beautiful isn't the right word. But I am truly glad I read it.

I really enjoyed how the author introduced other characters as well. Dutch was one of my favorites. And I gasped when I realised what Susannah's connection was to Rebecca. I loved how Nate, Eric and Tessa were still in it. It even felt a bit like a really dark thriller.
If you like dark, then this book is for you!

Michaella, absolutely brilliant book! I cannot wait for book 3 in this series! <3

Just finished Retribution, the 2nd book in Dieters Vengeance Series.
Can I have my heart back now, please? Dieter just ripped it out with my chest with this book.

"The Unseen
No more f*cking around. I'm done with obsessions, of waiting idly by. This time, I'm taking what I want.
But when the woman I crave above all else thirsts for vengeance, I'm determined to bring it to her on a silver platter. I will be the blood-soaked monster protecting her back, and justice shall be hers.
Forgive me, Father, for I will sin."

Rebecca and Treys story is Heartbreaking, powerful and unforgettable.
Dieter did it again.
A deeply sad childhood for both of them is brought, and Vengeance is Futile and carried out brilliantly.
This may not be everyone's cup of tea but if you love DARK romance, vengeance ad getting your power back kind of read you'll enjoy this.
Please take heed of Michaella's Triggers warnings, this book is not for the faint heartened.
I'm of to have a cry now...bloody brilliant.
No spoilers, read it for yourself.

OMG! What a book!

Retribution by Michaella Dieter is book two in the Vengeance Series. It’s a standalone dark romance in an interconnected series. Retribution is a tale of revenge and vengeance. This book was amazing, and that’s an understatement. Michaella Dieter has crafted an intense, captivating tale with so many twists and turns. This book is oh so dark and gritty. You’ll be hooked from the first page and taken on an intense roller coaster ride. This is a book you do not want to miss, one that I’ve been thinking about for DAYS. Retribution is so well written and flawless, it’s truly phenomenal.

Reader discretion advised as this book is DARK and contains scenes that may be triggering.

I'm currently in the mother of all book slumps, but I somehow was able to read this book. I would get scraps like an abandoned mutt who couldn't figure out their ass from the garbage outside a restaurant. But holy shit, if you read UBL, book 1 in the vengeance series, you'd have an inkling of the insanely dark, bloodlust and perverted mind that the author has. She took your pussified picture of her and threw that shit down a woodchipper while your fucking dumbass was standing in front of it. The bloody bits you got spattered all over your body is this book. This book is fucking broken, dark, bloodied, painful, and its haunting back story? It's BRUTAL. Read the fucking warning on this book. I can't express this enough.

Ok, with all that melodramatic shit over with, let's talk shop!

Sex? It's what I always wanna know about a book. How's the sex? It was hot and rough and unstable. It was pure madness with a touch of love. Bodies weren't just colliding and fitting perversely, their desire for eachother was less from physical attraction and more from a fucking magnet found deep in their souls.

Blood? Fuck that shit, I sometimes wonder if I need blood more than the sex in books, cuz that shit is HOT. Oh fucking hell, is there blood. Lots of fucking blood, A LOT. I thought the author was creative in her torture/kill scenes in UBL and then she got to work on this bloody trip. There's fucking blood everyfuckingwhere! Check out the fucking warnings! Don't expect a clean kill ANYWHERE.

Plot? What's a story without a storyline? UBL had a background that was pretty bad. Those characters didn't have a great childhood. Aww, poor guys, right? WELL, Trey and Rebecca? Holy fucking shit. I cannot stress enough, READ THE FUCKING WARNINGS. These two fuckers were beyond fucked in their childhood. They are both, several Forensic Files episodes short of a season. How the fuck these two lived to adulthood is a fucking mystery. Their background is what pushes them to survive and do what they do in this story. It really is a mindfuck of a book, so pay fucking attention. The story is about vengeance, righting wrongs, mental health awareness, (this is something I really fucking loved about the book, the mental health wasn't brushed off, sexualized or made to look cool. It was fucking acknowledged and then worked on making it better) it's about a kind of love that stems from having an inner peace being with someone else, finding a limb you weren't aware was missing. It's also about bad people who use this crutch of theirs to make worse people fucking suffer. These aren't your everyday victims or heroes. These are degenerates from Hell who managed to hold on to their souls.

This is a dark fucking book. It's an entire fucking Trigger Warning brought to life. Proceed at your own risk.

Wow.... I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to this book.

First let me just say, I found out about Michaella Dieter from a RH group on Facebook. She posted the link to Upon Blooded Lips and I thought... okay, a dark read? With romance? With two guys? HELL YES!

I thought it couldn’t get better than Upon Blooded Lips..... well, I was dead ass wrong.

Retribution is the holy grail of DARK. I have absolutely no triggers, but some of the scenes were tough for me to get through because my heart just BROKE for these characters.

The storyline, the plot, the characters, the sex 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Ugh, it was all FANTASTIC.

”A primal need to protect her claws through me, and I want nothing more than to hunt down every man that has ever touched her. I want to bang my chest, stomp off into the wilderness, take down her enemies and lay their heads at her feet.”

Well okay.... be still my heart. 😩🖤

Michaella, you are officially the dark queen! You deserve all the 5 star reviews for this book! 🖤🖤

Perfection. Michaella Dieter is not only amazing with words, but she crafts a story which is so intricate and captivating you can’t put it down. Rebecca and Trey’s story was heartbreaking but beautiful. Two lost souls who found each other, who see each other. The retribution Rebecca metes out is deserved and bloody hell is it creative and I loved every second of it. The plot is filled with twists and turns and I now need the next book ASAP, yesterday preferably. An unmissable read.

Retribution is book 2 in the Vengeance Series of interconnected stand-alones. It can be read on its own, but is so much more enjoyable if you start with Upon Blooded Lips. Believe me you won’t be sorry.

Rebecca, The Retribution Killer, taken from her parents at a young age only to be groomed and abused. She’s had enough and is looking for a way out but doesn’t want to leave anyone behind. Will the stranger online be her only hope?

Trey, The Unseen, has found himself another gift from above. Once he seeks her out, what he learns blows his mind (and his wad lol) and fuels a fire in him. Can he save the woman he wants to claim as his?

Absolutely enjoyed every moment of this book. There was so much going on and it all flowed together so nicely. We see some old friends from book 1, we meet some new friends, and we see them fight the fight to save lives.

Michaella continues to amaze me with her writing. It’s absolutely brilliant. She keeps you at the edge of your seat needing to know what’s going to happen next and how her characters will handle all the crap that’s thrown their way.

Recommended for all the dark romance lovers out there.

Read responsibly.

You know that story that your looking for, the one that draws you to the characters, makes you feel their pain, and rips you open? This is it!!!!

Rebecca has suffered through so much horror, in her young life. She is abused, assaulted, and terrorized. Then she meets Trey, the Unseen. He pulls her from the depths of hell, and helps her rise like a phoenix, from the ashes of her life. Helps show her she’s not a victim but a survivor. Their love for each other is deep, soul bounding, and Always.

Everything is so well written; can even experience the retribution being inflicted. The way the characters from Upon Blooded Lips flow with this story, is just flawless. Round of applause, on your second book Michaella Dieter. Phenomenal

I do not have the words to explain how this book makes me feel.

It's dark and it's gritty.
It has characters who have been so broken that even their darkness looks good.
It has love and acceptance.
Heartbreak by the bucket load.
And a whole load of phwoah moments 🔥🔥

Rebecca and Trey so deserved their happy ending ~ however my heart sank for a while there!!

If you enjoy darkness and have no (and I mean none!) triggers then this book is the one for you.
I'm absolutely loving this series and I'm so excited to see what book 3 brings!

Michaella debuted with Upon Bloodied Lips and then expanded on that world to give us Retribution and dare I hope for possibly more??!?!?! I have a feeling she has more stories in this world to tell, more characters demanding to be heard.

Retribution focuses around The Unseen, if you are confused who I am talking about then stop what you’re doing and go read UBL or do a reread. It’s important and plays a major part in this storyline and the overall ARC of the series.

This story was dark. Heed the warnings in the blurb but especially in the beginning of the book and if you are easily triggered this is probably not the book for you, but if you can handle it what a story was weaved. She takes real world things and twists them into a way that plays out like watching a movie in your head. Unseen was such an enigmatic character and there are still so many questions I have about how he came to be the Unseen. I highly recommend this book if you like the dark and the depraved.

Thank you Michaella for sending this amazing book over to us.

Wooooooowwwwwww!!!!!

What a read, let me start by saying Michaella you have done yourself proud again this was another fantastic read that I really couldn‘t put down. It gives you everything it’s a very dark read so if you have triggers you may think twice but if you like a book that delves into the darker depths and has characters that grip you with their rawness then this is definitely the book you are wanting to read.

This is the 2nd book in the vengeance series and it's Treys ‘The Unseen’ and Rebecca’s story. It is heartbreaking but really unforgettable and has many trigger warnings.

-Child Abuse (All Forms, Including Death)
- Human Trafficking
- Stalking & Kidnapping
- Graphic Murder & Torture
- Graphic Language & Sex Scenes
- Religious Fervor
- Non-Consent & Dubious Consent
- Mental Health & Self-Harm”

Rebecca has been tortured and abused for many years of her life physically and mentally but when she meets the unseen online in her online sessions she automatically knows there is something different about him. She gets to the point of no return when she doesn’t want to leave her “sisters” so Rebecca forms a plan.

The Unseen “Trey, when he first saw Rebecca decided after years of waiting for Tess that he was wrong and Rebecca is the one and he will do anything he can to help her.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book yet again and cannot wait to read more of your book Michaella.

Retribution is the second book in the Vengeance Series, following Upon Blooded Lips. If you have read UBL, then you know that the darkness that was in that one is going to flow into Retribution. Michaella Dieter is a phenomenal writer and her world building and character building is absolutely amazing!

⚠️ Proceed with caution with these books, they are dark and definitely not for the faint of heart. Michaella's books are the darkest I have ever read and I am here for all of it. Give me more!!

Retribution is just as the title suggests, it's a story of revenge and vengeance, but full of so much sin. Growing up, Rebecca has suffered many forms of abuse and her soul has latched on to this and along with Trey, they will be the judge, jury and executioners. Trey is a dark, dark soul and it calls out to Rebecca's. The chemistry these two have is off the charts! They are two halves of a whole and their broken pieces fit beautifully together.

This may be a romance book, but to get to that, you have to go through the mess. These two work together to deliver their sentences to various people who have harmed them. It is bloody, it is gorey, it is absolutely justified.

This book has given me all the emotions. I cried quite a few times during this book (and still get teary eyed thinking about some of it). It takes a lot for me to cry, but with the emotions that are written into this book, you would have to be made of stone not to feel them. This one does end in a hea, but there is another book coming! I am so excited to see what happens next in Dutch's book.

Holy Christ.
I'd say ten hail Mary's if I thought it would cleanse my soul and help my sanity after finishing this book.
Michaella Dieter may owe me therapy after breaking my heart and blowing my mind.
Another amazing book that took my feelings hostage and used them against me.

Did I like Trey in Upon Blooded Lips? Yes. Do I love Trey after reading Redemption? Absobloodylutely.
I don't like doing reviews that give spoilers but Rebecca is just, she's a beautiful tragedy in all her brokeness and I hope anyone that meets her appreciates all that she is and that she becomes. I will fight anyone that disagrees. That lassie was thrown into the abyss and dragged across the coals of hell yet still stood up and told the world to fuck itself.

I'm a lover of character crossovers so of course I was giddy as a drunken aunt a wedding when some familiar faces popped up even more so when they were more firmly in the limelight. I cannot wait for Vengeance Mine. I may have my own wee girl crush happening....on three female characters so the next book I'm sure will firmly solidify those into full blown love.

I hope the author keeps pushing the boundaries with her work. The topics she chooses are dark and painful but also something that happens daily and that I wish more people were educated on

Michaella has the ability to showcase the true darkness that humanity is capable of but is able to weave one of the most heartfelt reads of love, redemption and retribution.

I absolutely love Rebecca, she is one of the bravest, most resilient FMCs I have ever encounted. Surviving what she did it was always going to leave a mark however it didn't just leave a mark it birthed a monster that began to shred the last remnants of her sanity, what she needed was to be seen and loved before it consumed her completely.

Trey, The Unseen, the tortured soul who sinned repeatedly, who's obsessions became his distorted guide and his purpose never found anything other than rejection. He needed to be seen, to be loved for who he was, the darkness that resided in him, all he needed was a signal from his God.

Michaella unites these two broken souls together, through their dark bond, blood lust and their shared desire for retribution. Together they are seen, together they redeem each other and together they heal.

A white rose found in the darkness can still bloom if its loved, and that's exactly what Rebecca is to Trey. This is a truly dark read but it is also filled with a love so fierce that it survives the darkness.

WOOOOOOOOW

This is a book of sin, revenge, redemption and as it's titled so fittingly - retribution

We met the Unseen in Michaella's debut novel Upon Bloodied Lips and to say I was intrigued by him was an epic understatement! I wasn't sure how he was going to move on from Tessa after waiting 12 years for her, but it doesn't take long for him to find a new obsession - and even better she's just as obsessed with him as he is with her.

Rebecca and Trey's story is full of pain and heartache and Michaella writes in such a way that you feel what these characters feel - you're there with them every step of the way! And even though they do some terrible things you can't help but root for them, because really they're just reaping what their victims have sowed!

We also see some of our beloved characters from the previous book and meet some new ones! Every character Michaella writes I connect with and that just shows what a talented author she really is!

Now I have to say this book is riddled with triggers so if you have any stay far far away - however if you're like me and love the darkness you need this book! 🖤

Holy forking twists and turns, Batman.
Okay, so I fell in love with Michaella's writing with Upon Blooded Lips. The plot, the pace, just everything was spot on. I don't know how it happened but this book topped her debut. Goodness gracious, I'm in love.
We follow the Unseen as he picks up his life and follows signs to Arizona, where he finds his new path, leading him to Rebecca. Oh, Rebecca, you sweet, adorable, vengeful psycho. The circumstances in this book are dark, please heed trigger warnings, but then, dive in and don't stop reading until the end. It's not like you'll be able to stop once you start.
The characters are well developed, the plot is simply delicious, and the retribution is swiftly executed. I have loved this journey from start to finish, and the snippets from various characters who appear make the story so well-rounded, it kept me hooked the entire time.
Do yourself a favor and get this book.
Looking forward to Michaella's next book with grabby hands and puppy dog eyes. Mooooore!

Retribution heralds a rising voice in dark romance

Michaella Dieter’s second book in the Vengeance series “Retribution” clearly heralds a rising voice in dark romance.

Retribution follows the theme of exploring vengeance for crimes. Crimes so heinous -that horrify & make us sick to our stomach. Crimes against children and vulnerable adults.

What if a reckoning was possible? Is healing from such atrocities plausible? Does vengeance create balance? Exploring a purpose for victims give control? Certainly satisfying and thought provoking notions to this dark story lover.

Retribution is compelling reading. It’s more than spicy dark romance -with action, mystery, suspense, secret societies, organised crime, assassins and much more.
Dear Author how am I going to get past Trey and Rebecca’s story? You have put me through the emotional wringer with Retribution. I am thrilled that there will be more to this series.

Dark romance lovers rejoice -look no further than Michaella Dieter for your next read- she’s an author to watch.

Note:

Move over all Dark Authors, there’s a new Queen in town and her name is Michaella Dieter. Retribution will have you squirming in your seat one minute then crying the next. Have you ever cheered for a murderer? Well how about more than 1? Rebecca is is a gut wrenching character that will stay in your soul after you put the book down. Treys love for Rebecca knows no bounds and he will make sure that every wrong that was done to her will be corrected no matter what the cost. Ms. Dieter’s attention to detail through every aspect throughout the book is flawless. I found myself reading chapters before moving moving on to the next because I could not believe what I was reading! Now I’m going back to re-read Upon Bloodied Lips and Retribution again. They are not just Dark stories. They are unbelievable story lines that are truly amazing. Do head the trigger warnings at the beginning. They are there for a reason. If you have no problems reading dark romance, this is absolutely phenomenal!

Please read the trigger warning before starting the book or purchasing it. The author is very honest about the contents in the book.
It takes a brilliant mind and guts to come up with a story that’s so dark and twisted. And to not shy away from anything the way others might. This book has no censoring. The author heads full on and doesn’t disappoint in her writing.
Rebecca grew up in a very twisted and sick environment which made her into who she is. Trey’s situation isn’t any better. When these two come together it’s in a hot, sick and twisted way.
The worst part is that Rebecca and Trey are sick but what they do can be seen as right by some or wrong by others. It’s a very grey situation because of who they are taking vengeance against.
If you love extremely dark and twisted stories and lots of blood doesn’t bother you then this is for you and I highly recommend it. If not don’t buy. If you’re on the fence try a sample and see if it’s what you would be interested in.

Wow, Michaella does it again. I need more 😍🥵

I have been waiting ever so patiently for book 2 😂 but let me tell you it was SO worth the wait!

In book 1 I didn't like Trey (for obvious reasons) but this book made me love him. Rebecca's story broke my heart, but she's a survivor. She's strong as crap. All those people along the way deserved everything they had coming for them. All those poor babies, and children 😭

Near the end of the book it hit me with ALL the emotions, and when I mean all I mean all the sad/angry ones haha it ended up turning around for me when I got to read about Tessa and her men again 😍 and of course that scene when all of them got to London. 😏

This book was amazing, and all the smut was exactly how I needed it to be!

The ending left off for a possibility of book 3, so I hope there is one 😉

Utterly broken and completely shattered! I am not sure if I am speaking about me or the main characters in this novel. How does one person let alone two people come back from the vile, cruel, and often gruesome life that Rebecca and Trey endured? Vengeance, retribution, and all-consuming love. That’s how!

The unfolding back story of Rebecca and Trey will break you down, fill you with hatred and disgust that fellow humans could be involved in such depravity. However, when these two fractured souls find their missing piece in each other and embark on a journey of revenge the reckoning is upon those who wronged them and it is brilliant to watch.

This is a difficult read but a thrilling story that captured my interest from the first page. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that at its core this is a romance with a HEA all the while cheering Trey and Rebecca on their path of retribution and hopeful they will succeed against all odds. If you like dark, sex trafficking syndicate and a vigilante group determined to make the criminals pay this is definitely a book (series) I highly recommend.

This is the second book in the Vengence series and books must be read in order to grasp the full depth of relationships and backstory. Also, this book is not for the faint of heart so be mindful of the author’s content warnings.

Wow....what a book!!
Michaella is giving some of the best dark romance authors, a run for their money with this one!! Another fabulous DARK read, written really well. I was hooked straight away into quite a complex and intense storyline, with plenty of betrayal, twists and suspense.
Some of the scenes in this book are not easy to read which makes the characters story even more devastating and gut wrenching. I admit i had to re read some of them, just to try and grasp what was happening and to give myself time to get my head around it all!
As with the authors first book 'upon blooded lips', there are some very graphic and violent scenes so be warned and take all trigger warnings seriously...this is not an easy read!
I admire any author who fully commits to the 'dark romance' genre and lets just say Michaella blows it out of the park!!
I cannot wait to read more from this author.

I received and ARC and this is my honest review!

But oh yes it mother fking did! This baby is dark raw gritty and utterly delicious throw in some psychos and my little black heart was loving life! The author will grab you by the balls from the first page and there is no chance that you are going to be able to put this book down until your done. Then you are still going to be thinking about it days later I know I sure as hell was! This is an absolute must read!

But on a SERIOUS note read the Trigger Warning ⚠️ before you dive this author seriously give you an entire freaking page about the Triggers!!

If you are good with that then proceed and hang on for dear life because you are in for one roller coaster ride with all the crazy!!!

I have no words...just...um...wow.

Character development...still as great as Upon Blooded Lips. While this book still has some sensitive topics and is a dark (i should say very dark) romance, this book had me intrigued, wanting more and more. Getting to see the characters again from book one not only keeps the story tied together, but shows where they are at in life since book one (no spoilers here...i promise).

Some parts I may have cried with them hitting close to home for me, but that is totally okay. To say I loved it is an understatement. This duology (until book 3 comes out) has been put on my top favorite list of series. Michaella, you are an amazing writer!

This book is book 2 out of 3 of the Vengeance series. If you have not read it, i recommend you do and join the dark side. So excited for book three to release <3

!!PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING THIS BOOK. IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!

If you like your dark with a side of dark and a helping of dirty than Michaella is the girl for you!!

Whilst it could be read as a standalone I'd really recommend grabbing upon bloodies lips first because it really adds to the world.

Our FMC has suffered throughout her life, and one of the things I love about Michaella is she doesn't shy from giving the details but somehow manages to keep it from being gratuitous. Subjects such as child abuse and sexual assault are never nice but she gives just enough that you really feel where the character is coming from.

Trey was broken in a way that cant be fixed by his childhood, but somehow with Rebecca it doesn't matter. He doesnt need to be "normal" because they are everything each other needs on a soul deep level.

Some might argue this isn't a love story, but if you ask me its the very best kind. The kind that has cracks and wounds that bleed. but in the end it doesn't matter.

Heed the trigger warnings, this isn't for you if you don't read most dark romances and wish they were darker!!

An amazing follow up from Upon Blooded Lips! Michaella has a beautifully twisted mind- her characters have depth and are relatable. Like in Upon Blooded Lips you are rooting for the main characters love story and their bloody road to revenge.
The men in her books support their women's need for vengeance and the end results are fantastic! I especially loved seeing Tess and her 2 demons again
The third book in this series cannot come soon enough!
This book has triggers, so some readers should beware.

Just WOW, Retribution has left me speechless. The horror, the darkness of the story is filled with passion and emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. I absolutely loved Trey and his passion for saving Rebecca and his help with the revenge for all the people that made Rebecca suffer through all these years living in a prison life of her owners.

This is a second book by this author and I would highly recommend it !

Well done Michaella ♥️♥️♥️
