I was seventeen when I fell for my best friend. It was great—until he broke my heart into a million pieces.
I vowed to never speak to him again. But now I’m back in our hometown with only one promise to myself...
Don’t fall back in love with Chance Ortega.
CHANCE
Love sucks.
Period.
It makes you do things you’d never do. You hurt people and get hurt in the process.
So I don’t fool with it.
At least that’s what I tell myself, and I think I mean it. Unfortunately, the past has a way of sneaking up on you.
I was seventeen when she stole my heart—then she left.
Now she’s home and hates my guts. I guess I’m a glutton for punishment because, with Charlie, I want to break my number one rule...
Never fall in love.

Chance and Charlie story, a second chance romance. The storyline was good and I love the main two characters and the supporting characters. I can't wait for Zack story and maybe we will find out did the other friends got married like Parker brother.
Best friends to one-time lovers to broken-hearted. Charlie was hurt by Chance when they were in high school, and now that they had to work together, she had to deal with her feelings. As both of them worked out their feelings and the new relationship, I felt for both sides, especially with Charlie's family drama throwing in a teary side. I enjoyed the story and recommend it.
I received a copy of this book through The Hatters Blogger Group, and this is my unsolicited review.
I won't lie, I wanted to spend half the book punching Chance in the face, which just proves what an amazing writer Sade Rena is. I laughed, I cried, as I mentioned before, I wish I'd bought the paperback so I could throw it at the wall lol. This book has everything you need to run the gambit of your emotions and come back for more. Thank you, Sade, for sharing this with us!
I have never wanted to strangle a main character like I did Chase, but that's the amazing part! This book was FIRE! A great telling of enemies to lovers. I am going back to read the first book in this series!
This is a great read. I really enjoy stories of reuniting lost loves. Chance and Charlie deserved their HEA. The read has a great plot, lovable characters and at some points made me tear up. I recommend you adding this one to your own library! I can't wait to read the next one in the series
I truly enjoyed book #1, but this one missed the mark.
Chase and Charlie had history and chemistry, but the scenarios were too dramatic and “high schoolish”. Although these were mid-twenty adults, they behaved childishly and immaturely.
I became annoyed with some of the behavior, so I began to skip read through some of the chapters. Book #1 is better.
OMG, I really enjoyed this book. As much as Chance was a mess, he had enduring qualities that you had to love him. Both him and Charlie's fears were palpable, but they were strong enough to take a chance or two on each other.
This book takes you through a rollercoaster of emotions. I was in tears reading about their family heartache as well as Chance and Charlie opening up their vulnerabilities. It is a long book, but hang in there, it is so worth the read.
This was a really well balanced story. I would highly recommend this friends to lovers story.
I looooved this book! Each character had depth and a great backstory. The author represented some pretty heavy mental health struggles well. I’d love to read more of Chance & Charlie’s story for what their life becomes after the derby, but this story alone was wonderful. I absolutely loved the Spanish sprinkled throughout the book! The groveling too was 👌🏻 truly a great romance read with a few spicy scenes 🥵
Also beware of the possible trigger warnings like the death of a grandparent and watching them slowly wither.
So stupid. The female lead deserves way better than that immature asshole. No character growth on his part, still repeating the same mistakes and not seeing how wrong he is in his actions.
I don’t even know why I read this book after the disappointing indecisive male lead of the first one. The author needs to learn how to write better male leads.
This book is all about second chances. Charlie and Chance were best friends in high school and then they became lovers and then heartbreak strikes. Now they have to work together but Charlie is still dealing with her hurt feelings from the past. I spent most of the story wanting to strangle Chance!! Could he have been any more of a moron?! After so much work will they get their HEA?
Cannot wait for more! Chance was everything Cowboy alpha holes are made to be. I loved the slow burn yet the dynamic of enemies to lovers. Everything was absolutely perfect. The ending was beautiful and the angst was spot on.
Didn't even finish reading it because it was with a series that is a BWWM, but it is not. So I read book one and skipped and went straight to book 3. The only reason they didn't get a zero is because that was not a choice so it was not read it all.
