Rate this book
You thought you understood professional wrestling? You thought wrong.

Seth Atlas has a lot more going on than just his day job wrestling as Seth the Destroyer. He's also a superpowered alien living on Earth, and part of a clandestine intergalactic bounty hunting operation - and so is everyone else he works with.

The Moonsault Professional Wrestling league fronts a group of superpowered bounty hunters that secretly work for the Intergalactic Federation and have a damn good time while doing it.

Their goals?
1. Protect the galaxy from planet-hopping criminals.
2. Entertain intergalactic wrestling fans all across the galaxy.
3. ???
4. Profit!

When a bounty takes a turn for the worse, the repercussions aren't immediately clear. But they're coming.

Reader discretion advised: Moonsault!, by best-selling harem author Gideon Caldwell, skillfully mixes X-Men and Men in Black with the WWE then smashes it over the head with a steel chair through a healthy dose of humor, action, and adult themes. With a full cast of characters as colorful as you'd expect from an homage to professional wrestling, this is one book that will have you cheering from the top turnbuckle.

Makes me think of watching wrestling with my grandfather.

This seems to perfectly match up with what we have all came to expect from watching wrestling on tv for all those years. The story is very good as I really like the premise of the story.

A harem novel based around bounty hunting, professional wrestling, and intergalactic criminals. This is a high concept idea and very amusing, especially if you like the theatricality of the non-sport. Seth and his Kitsune girlfriend work for the Intergalactic Federation hunting criminals on Earth while having day jobs as professional wrestlers. Indeed, all members of the Moonsault Wrestling League are bounty hunting professional wrestlers. It's exactly as silly as it sounds and has a lot of sex scenes as well as screwball comedy.

It's not for everyone but was entertaining.

Men in Black meets WWE!

The story follows a wrestler who is an alien bounty hunter on Earth. With his alien fox girlfriend, they hunt bounties while performing wrestling matches for the Galactic Federation. But things take a turn when the leader of their organization gets murdered, and now Seth must take the responsibility of running the wrestling organization.
I really like the bounty hunting and wrestling scenes. Reading the wrestling matches is like watching a WWE show. Each character has its own theme and skills with unique personalities. From Seth's point of view, it is interesting to learn how pro wrestling works and what the manager has to do. Yes, it is fake, but still fun to read. The bounty hunting is fun too. The villains are unique and they bring out a lot of surprises to the wrestlers. Just like Men in Black, the aliens live in a secret society on Earth. I am not sure if the humans are aware of them although the alien characters do a lot of daily life stuff between their jobs. But the action scenes and mystery are still fun. The writing is also fast-paced although the chapters are long. The sex scenes are fine, although I didn't care about them. They are skippable for readers who don't like them, and they are fast-paced. Overall, it is a fun book to read.
Although the book is fun, half of the story has a lot of issues. For grammar, there are too many run-on sentences. They do help the story run fast, but I think most of them should be cut short. For story-wise, in my opinion, the world setting isn't interesting. It takes place on modern Earth where aliens are living like humans, but in secret. They have powers, but they only use them during their bounty hunting missions. If the story takes place in the future, it would be cool to read the aliens using their powers in wrestling matches, and they wrestle on other planets. Maybe that will happen later in the sequels.
Also, the story focuses too heavily on the slice of life aspects of the characters. Most of the scenes between the conflicts are about Seth going on dates, shopping, and other daily life stuff I didn't care about. The murder mystery also gets buried under the slice of life and wrestling matches, which are the main focus. And to me, that is disappointing. That would be cool if Seth hunts the mystery killer down to avenge his mentor. Instead, he manages the wrestling organization and goes on dates with his love interests. At least the murder mystery gets resolve toward the end. Although slice-of-life scenes are fine, but to my opinion, there are too many.
Besides the issues, it is a very entertaining book. I gave it 4 stars because I still enjoyed the action and the wrestling matches. The characters are interesting and simple, but I wish there are more actions to keep the plot rolling. If you like aliens and wrestling, I highly recommend this book. It is fun for haremlit fans and sci-fi fans.

I LOVED this book so much. It brought me right back to the days when I was able to watch wrestling on TV. From a young child I would sit with my lovely Grandad, and we would both yell at the screen for our favourites and "Boooooo!" at the baddies, much to the annoyance of my mum. Years later, still watching, but realising it was all done for entertainment value and everything was 'made up' to encourage fan participation. Completely OTT and gloriously enjoyable, just like this book.

This is a great storyline concept where the superpowered alien wrestlers double up as intergalactic bounty hunters. Kind of like a cross between 'The Rock' and 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' but SO much better. Seth Atlas is the main character, and is as charismatic as you could ever hope to find. As usual, the author's writing is expressive, and so well done that you will believe these characters are real. There's plenty of laughs and fun, lots of serious danger of death, wonderful aliens, and some major tugging of heartstrings.

The fight scenes are really well choreographed and full of atmosphere, plus I loved the way the author interspersed the storyline with the names of US wrestling stars across the years, some of which I had forgotten. What fabulous memories those brought back! Rowdy Roddy Piper was always my favourite and I was lucky enough to see him fight live.

Can't wait for the rest of the series.

Let's get ready to rumble!!!!!

Gideon Caldwell Rocks

Had it been anyone other than Gideon Caldwell, I’d have shucked this book after the first chapter - I detest “professional wrestling” that much. But, knowing who he is, and what he does, I knew for a fact that things would quickly go beyond the out-of-control wrestler-cum-bounty hunter. To say I wasn’t disappointed would be a disservice.

I actually enjoyed the use of the whole wrestling thing as a vehicle to introduce the characters and open up the parameters of the world to the reader. The covert bounty hunter artifice seemed a pretty far stretch until the author brought us to the point where the rag-tag group of performers who weren’t good enough to be the “real” good-guys were dealing with a murder mystery that may have much more sinister implications, and may have a problem distinguishing between the bad-guys and badder-guys dressed up as good-guys.

At the end of it all, another first-rate effort, entirely worthy of the man known to all but an enigmatic few (who know his true identity) as Gideon Caldwell. Who may - or may not - be using this latest work to get us accustomed to the idea of REAL aliens among us, and will - at the conclusion of this series - reveal that he himself is the leader of these off-world emigrants and what his plans for us all truly are. Stay tuned to stay informed…

A fun, exciting read that I couldn't stop until I finished

This book had me enthralled from the start and held on until it finished. I surprisingly really enjoyed the whole super powered alien bounty hunter wrestlers. The pacing was excellent, a good blend of action mixed in, both wrestling and more serious combat. The characters are fun and enjoyable getting to know. There were plenty of carrots dangling through the story that were resolved by the end that I really enjoyed. The issue between Seth and Carmen and what it actually ended up being was probably my favorite. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and I hope to see it become a good length, more than the currently planned three books.

How would supers do as spies and as wrestlers?, I don't think anything so unusual would have happened before. Strange as it is, this happens in this book from Caldwell and somehow it works, although this has a great background storyline I actually went with the characters as the main attraction for me. The hints to possible harem but a solid relationship at its core kept me going while also thinking I want to be a wrestler with super powers.
Genius or reliving childhood dreams from the authoe this is one I shall be following with great interest and can't wait for the audio.

You're a wrestler?!?! Wow what a life you must lead.

So you want to be a wrestler, want to do the five star frog splash from the top rope! Hell yeah!! Oh well there is a catch, need to be an alien and work for a intergalactic group as a bounty hunter. Sounds cool right well then join Seth and the rest of MPW. And start your high flying career. If you love sci-fi, WWE, and some good shagging well then Moonsault is right up your alley!! See you on the other side!!!
