Life may have moved on to new challenges for Ruby Davis, now being a mother to baby Hendrix, but she’s back at the helm of Psychic Surveys, her spiritual domestic clearance company, and the cases just keep getting stranger.
A new client, Carrie-Ann Kendall, has suffered an accident at sea, one that – according to her – she shouldn’t have survived. Visiting a clairvoyant who is apparently terrified by her presence, only confirms this notion. It is now up to Ruby and the team to find out whether Carrie-Ann has cheated death. If so, what are the consequences, and for how long?
Leon Vasilescu is the clairvoyant, now missing since encountering Carrie-Ann, and whom Psychic Surveys must track down. But in doing so, they will encounter another danger, one that is far more personal to Ruby and her mother Jessica, and could have them facing death too.

This is the 8th book of the series and with each new book I begin each review saying it's the best one yet - and here I am saying it again!
The story is fantastic - both the case of Carrie-Ann and Jessica's discovery in Sarah's loft. Seemingly unrelated, yet bought together perfectly. I especially liked how the aspects of money/power/evil were used to illustrate the futility of seeking material wealth. People can be so easily led by false promises, and then almost close their minds to admitting their mistakes.
It was also nice 'meeting' baby Hendrix, Ruby's baby. I have a little suspicion that he may take after his mum, especially with what happens at the end of the book. And my favourite fictional animal, Jed, had more of a role to play in assisting with the investigations. Everyone should have, and probably needs a Jed.
Another cracking addition to this, my favourite series of books.
A beautifully written book which continues the Psychic Surveys series. The intertwining of previous books was a great touch and the storyline continues seamlessly. It was great read about the team and look forward to the series continuing. Great book!
The Weight of the Soul is the 8th book in the Psychic Survey Series.
It packs one hell of a punch to your emotions which I felt overwhelmed on occasions. The story has a couple of timelines throughout the book which I loved going back to the history of characters how they affect the current timeline, this was done exceptionally well it just flowed flawlessly from one to the other. In this book Ruby Davis has new challenges to deal with one being a new mother and life itself. A new client Carrie-Ann suffered an accident at sea with consequences that could affect Ruby and her own mother read and see.
This book had everything sadness, anger, shock, twist and turns I definitely didn't see coming praise to the author brilliant achievement all interweaving from one page to the next. I didn't want to put this book down, or the story to never end.
I just love the characters and this series I cannot highly recommend this book and the series are a must read and you just struggle to put them down. You ask how do I know, if I wasn't reading the book I could hear it calling to be picked up again. Not many books have such an effect.
Absolutely cracking and a brilliant read, looking forward to the next in this series!!!
Awful….. no idea why others gave it five stars as this was appalling!
Most of the book is just about the past of Ruby’s grandmother and her beau, Edward Middleton. It goes into so much detail and tells the story from day one of Sarah meeting Edward. On and on and on it goes……
I realise an author has to sometimes do a bit of back- history writing to keep the reader informed of what happened before the present events took place but THIS is never-ending and found myself itching to just quit the book. The plot, when you eventually fight through all the word-salad to get to it, was very weak and the ending (where you expect a real crescendo from the psychic survey team) is extremely disappointing. There wasn’t much psychic work being done and it was very boring.
So disappointed with this book as the rest of the series we actually saw some action from these lovely ladies but this was a real let down.
Also there are a few Americanisms in this book which also let the book down as it’s about English people in England so the American sayings and spellings shouldn’t be in here!
A truly captivating read that keeps the Psychic Surveys going as strong as ever.
I've enjoyed this series from the start but this offering surpasses them all and that's saying something!
All of the characters have developed so much since their inception and I'm so pleased that Jed is playing a bigger part now, I hope this continues.
Shani Struthers is a talented writer and I believe this series would adapt very well to a TV series, as long as it sticks strictly to the books!! I hate adaptations grrrrr......
Another great book in the series, this is one of the few series of books i eagerly await the next instalmen.t
They are stand alone books which gives you a insight to the main characters without repeating themselves ,but if you decide to start with book one and follow the series through you learn more about each character and the bond that they have with each other. If you love horror and enjoy books with a difference then these are for you .
Whether you enjoy paranormal or think not much of it, the story written of close friendships and family bonds is genuinely written. Finding out about where you come from is a way to see where your headed in life and Ruby is doing just that in this one. Never disappointed when I read another in this series! I also enjoy the Mezzanine books as well.
Well, we now have a better understanding of Ruby's family history. The tainted love between her grandmother and grandfather and the latter's descent into satanic madness. Perhaps it wasn't the most spooky story ever written by Shani Struthers but, it was an enjoyable tale.
Another excellent read in this series. I love how Shani Struthers pulls everything together from various storylines. I hate having to put the books down (OK I know its a Kindle book 😇) and have to keep reading into the early hours. Enjoyed it immensely. If you love paranormal look no further than this series and also the stand alones that accompany it. 💖
Couldn't put it down - read it straight through. This book reveals more of Ruby's past and the revival of the Psychic Surveys group. Eighth book in the series and just as compelling as the books preceding it. I hope there are more to come!
Absolutely fantastic another triumph from the amazing Shani Struthers. This series never fails to deliver with every new story line. Another winner Shani I was very moved by this beautifully crafted book. Long may this series run.
I love Psychic Surveys never a dull read a real diamond So glad I found this series, it's thrilling, haunting , suspenseful at times and the team is ALWAYS amazing and the romance is great and now there little family. 5 stars!
Another great read I do love this author the psychic surveys Ruby, ness, corina,Theo, brilliant at solving the lost souls what a gripping story I found it hard to put the book down
This series is really good. Ruby and the Psychic Surveys team become involved in a very strange case that leads to yet another case where Ruby is psychically attacked! I’m looking forward to the next book!
Enjoyed this book so much I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth a read. I'm looking forward to the next one, I hope there is another one in the series.
Well Shani Struthers has delivered again. A great supernatural story. It was great getting to catch up with the Psychic Surveys team again. When is book 9 out?
Couldn't put this book down. Only took me two days to read. Amazing writing yet again. I can't wait to read the next one. Hopefully it won't be too long to wait.
Loved these books from the first right through to number eight. I love the characters and their connection to the light through their shared experiences.
