In 2056, there are over 9 billion souls inhabiting the Earth. But in 2057...? Sixteen-year-old Rhyllien Ellis disappeared after witnessing her father’s brutal murder. Thirty-five years pass before she awakens, unchanged, in a crystal cave deep within the Amazon. Haunted by strange visions, she’s burdened with an insurmountable to save as many lives as possible with a cache of powerful crystals. Spreading across the world, a mysterious sickness has killed thousands. Any delay means more deaths. In a world run by corporations, Rhyllien surviving the sickness means she knows of a remedy. Or she is the cure? Either way, she’s worth billions... Alive. Or dead. “Lively characters and fast-paced action set in a corporate-run a dynamic series kicks off with a bang!” Peter J Aldin, author of Third Contact & Eventide From the The Death Wave Chronicles is a blend of mythology and ‘weird science’, fringe science and pseudoscience. Throughout the storyline — moreso in some novels than others — I will touch on subjects such as Gaia myth, Earth chakras, the power of crystals, ley lines/earth energy grid, druidism, UFO’s, aliens ... even Atlantis. I hope you enjoy the read.

I met Andre at Book Fair Australia in 2022, where I picked up a copy of this in paperback. It’s an interesting read, with both an intriguing puzzle and big issues driving the plot.

The book opens with 16yo Rhyllian in the Amazon rainforest with her father, but from the outset we know she’s unique – mosquitoes, leeches, and even piranhas won’t bite her. But after an attack that kills her father, she wakes in a strange cave, only to discover 37 years have passed. It seems Gaia has a special role for Rhyll.

As the author says, the book blends myths with weird science, so it straddles science fiction and fantasy. It’s well written, with good pacing and engaging characters. If you like stories where ecologically destructive Big Business gets some payback from Mother Nature, I think you’ll like the series a lot.

I like my stories with a harder edge and grittier realism, which is why I’m holding off on giving it 5 stars.

This is a sensational read. The beginning of a lively, inventive series. Warehouse 13 and x file vibes coupled with some near furniture scifi. Gold!
