One of the better "RoboCop" rip-offs. In the 21st century, the book was printed in 1989, so, a virus, along with nuclear war has made America, in parts, a no mans land run by criminal gangs and street thugs. That's where Donovan Steele comes in. A member of the dangerous Strike Force team. His job is to fight a loosing battle with them in the city.
When the leader of The Skulls wants to have a parley with the Strike Force to finger the criminal leader of the city, he is shot and blown up. He is put back together and made into a Cyborg. He becomes the perfect crime fighter. Even if he would rather of died. Pretty good read.
Fun pulp series we discovered in the books left by my husband's father when he passed. Will be making my way through all 7 books we've dug out. Think Robocop with more humanity.
I read Steele the first in Aug. of 89... Laugh if you will but it took me six months at the time, because I was what you would call Functional Illiterate... mainly when growing my teacher's either didn't know I had dyslexia, even I didn't know, add ADHD to the mix and you got a kid who got passed grade to grade (Not mention my size help me get passed) Anyway just background as to why I say is the book I ever read. To me Donovan Steele makes Robocop look like the Tinman from the Wizard of Oz. It'll be the book I pick up most often to read I love the story, the characters... it just a draw in as how the book written for me. Oh and it also started me down the path of being a Author myself!
