Exciting!

Wildwood and Shay further explore their power when it comes to forging weapons and fighting demons but there is still so much they don’t know. As they end up further embroiled in the mysteries, they might just end up finding some answers.

Loved being back on an adventure with Wildwood and Shay. As this is part of a series you really will benefit from reading the series in order and should read the first book before reading Magick And The Maker. This time, the adventure was faster, more magical, and had added danger to raise it to another level. There was so much to learn and discover, not only for the reader but also for Wildwood and Shay. They made some brilliant discoveries about Bannock and themselves throughout this installment in the series that were truly fascinating and brought more questions.

Wildwood and Shay’s relationship also developed further because they had to support one another through individual challenges and those they had to approach as a team. I was glad they had their friends around them to also help out when things got intense. They shared some amazing moments in this story though, ones that really took me by surprise because they were filled with magic, mystery, and wondrous things. They are getting closer to the truth and gaining full understand of both their purpose and why fate has brought them together, but I suspect there is still lots of amazing things to be found out.

Very excited for the rest of this series. It is a perfect mix of magic and fantasy, with a touch of romance.

Wildwood and Shay’s journey deepens in this thrilling sequel, as they delve further into their burgeoning powers, forging weapons and battling formidable demons. However, their mastery is far from complete, leaving them constantly grappling with the unknown and facing unexpected challenges. This second installment in the series, following the captivating events of "Magic and the Maker," plunges readers into a richly woven tapestry of history and intrigue. The narrative expertly intertwines the fates of multiple characters, enriching the overarching storyline with compelling relationships and well-developed personalities. The world-building is nothing short of fantastic, transporting readers to a vibrant and immersive realm filled with magic and danger. While the twists and turns keep you guessing, some plot developments feel predictable, adding a layer of comfortable familiarity to the suspenseful narrative. The story concludes with a heart-stopping cliffhanger, leaving readers breathlessly anticipating the next chapter in Wildwood and Shay’s adventures. I highly recommend reading "Magic and the Maker" first to fully appreciate the depth and complexity of this captivating series.

This second book in The Maker Series is even more immersing than I found the first book. How deep the history and the involvement of others in the story line. The depth of this supernatural journey is incredibly engaging and the relationship dynamics of the characters is so well developed is what makes this such a great journey. Sharon K. Angelici has a style that is easy to navigate and yet twists in predictable and unpredictable directions. Jen Tidwell continues to do an outstanding job of narrating this adventure where nothing seems to really be as it seems. The characters depth and individuality is well defined in the narration of this series. I am excited to head on to the third book in the series. This is not my usual type of listen but OMG I am hoping to find more of this type of tense and exciting journey.

Just as easy to read and delightful as the first! Loved seeing the character development of Wildwood stepping into magick and Shay becoming more outgoing about her past.

Pros:
I just love the worldbuilding. It's simple and easy and I love the sections of research where we get to learn right along with the characters.

I can tell the author knows a lot about magick and blacksmithing which makes the technicalities of the worldbuilding so vibrant!

Cons:
Some of the writing is a bit repetitive both literally and more figuratively. And sometimes the story feels like it's looping on itself because there's more downtime than action

Overall I'm still in love with this little witchy paranormal series and can't wait to grab book 3!!

*especially after that crime of a cliffhanger!*

So many questions...

Shay and Wildwood has been chosen to take over the legacy. But no instructions were left behind on how to do it. At least they have Dani to help a bit, but she has her own secrets. A great read if you like, fantasy.
