I bought this cookbook for two reasons. 1. It was free in Kindle Amazon and 2. I always thought a Mediterranean diet was Italian and could not figure out how anything in it could be considered good for a diet!
Looking at the table of contents I saw recipes for Quinoa Pancakes, Ravioli Vegetable Soup, Vegan Grain Bowl, and Couscous Fruit Salad and I began to see that it might just be a diet cookbook after all.
Reading through the recipes I saw that olive oil was used a lot as well as peppers, onions, and other vegetables. Berries and nuts showed up frequently in the salads and peppers and fish were abundant.
However, I don't like peppers at all or fish very much though I will eat fish if it's cooked right. But peppers are NOT ever on my list of food to eat.
What I liked best about the book wasn't the recipes but the information in the chapters before the receipes began. There chapters were full of information about eating healthy, what the Mediterranean diet is, and the myths about Mediterranean cooking. I learned a lot from these chapters and one thing I took away was that I am definitely buying olive oil in the future.

Though I've never heard of this diet before, I was intrigued after reading all of the health benefit claims. After all, it's mostly clean vegan eating but also with fish. Easy enough, right? I couldn't wait to dive into it.
