If you have young children , this is a good book to teach young kids about finances. But it’s geared to the suburbanites not really urban kids who faced other challenges! For this and because I was expecting something else. And my daughter is already 44. Too late for this advice! Two stars rating.
Bobbi Rebell's new book is perfect for my family as we navigate helping our children move from high school to college and to adulting! As Bobbi states in the preface, most parents share a common goal: "To give our children the gift of knowing they have everything they need to be financially independent of us." And Bobbi continues, stating that setting our children on the path to becoming financial grownups will allow us as parents to have a shot at financial security and freedom as well. Throughout, Bobbi provides easily understood real examples and advice on topics such as home ownership, budgets and paying bills, insurance and wellness, education, and much more. I highly recommend this entertaining and informative book.
As the mom of a tween, I have a vested interest in launching her into the world so she can financially fend for herself. That’s why Bobbi Rebell’s wonderful new book Launching Financial Grownups resonated with me. Not only does Rebell share her own experiences raising financially savvy teens and adults, but she also provides real-world tools and advice such as getting their first credit card, dealing with debt, and navigating through peer pressure about spending. This important book is joining other essential tomes on my mantle for easy access when the tests of parenting require teaching your kids about making adult money decisions.
Straight Talk and Great Tips! I have been a fan of Bobbi Rebell and her clear, direct and down-to-earth financial advice for years. As my own kids grow into "emerging adults," her new book Launching Financial Grownups arrived just in time! Bobbi doesn't waste time or mince words. She gives actionable advice, weaving in relatable stories. She covers absolutely every aspect of helping our teens and young adults to feel confident, to make good choices and to achieve financial independence. Of course, some of my favorite topics were generosity and philanthropy, but I learned something new in every chapter and will be using her book to help my kids prepare to live secure, successful lives.
"Launching Financial Grownups is a call to action for parentd of young adults who want the best for their kids but are beginninng to realize that thrit oen finanancial independence and financial separation from their children must become a priority as well."
Athough many high schools have already added basic finance knowledge in the curriculum, the success of our children's furure money habit depends on what we teach them. Reading this book is a good start if you have teens. After all, time is the main factor in investing.
A simply stated financial book on raising young adults to be self-sufficient. If you have read a lot of financial products and are active in your knowledge base, this book can be a little slow at times. But, that is also acknowledging the book is for your kids, not you. I was able to glean a few good takeaways.
Many good ideas but a few poor ones too. For example, I don't believe leasing a car or using credit to get cars are good financial decisions but I do like to leave things in my digital carts to get discounts. It is worth reading for the tips.
Agreed with the content and think it’s a tremendous resource for those with no exposure saving and investing. Not much hear that hasn’t been converted in Dave Ramsey and the like
I listened to an interview with Rebell on a favorite podcast and had to get the book. This is an excellent read - very practical and readable. Great tips. I've made multiple notes!
