I really enjoyed the plot and characters, as well as the world. Though the worldbuilding felt more like info dumping and also kinda shallow.I don’t know why but I sadly couldn’t fully connect with the characters therefore the feelings felt kind of shallow too.. I had a bunch of problems with the main character as she was basically just whining all the time and pretty much just annoying which, you could argue, is due to the new life she has been thrown into. The other thing that bothered me a teeny tiny bit was how similar the "Chimera" were to the Southside Serpent from Riverfail but other than that I still ended up liking them.
I liked: how the story started right in the middle of things and how the characters each were introduced. I was surprised by the plottwist at the end concerning Sandras heritage.
Now to the romance in this book: I don’t know who to ship Sandra with. I love Knox even though he’s kind of an a-hole but fell in love with Hagen and the cliffhanger— I still have the feeling that Knox is hiding something so we‘ll see..
The magic system: I did like the magic system though it felt shallow, meaning something was missing for me so that I had the "wow effect".
Over all it’s safe to say that I’m excited for the second instalment, if there will be one, and what other adventures await Sandra. A fun and fast YA read.
I LOVED the atmosphere. This book was very… cinematographic I would say. I could really relate to MC sometimes but I kinda dislike the love triangle that is about to be introduced..😙 However, I’m really excited to get into the next book asap!
