EN Once again, Son Goku surpasses himself, revealing new forms and techniques to increase his power — and, of course, yet another hair colour, this time in silver! *laughs*

This volume marks the end of the Moro saga and the beginning of a new one, about which we still know very little, although new characters have already been introduced.

--

This final climatic head to head face off between goku and Moro was literally on another level for both of them, it literally felt like a final arc Naruto shippuden like fight rather than the normal over powered brawling they usually do, but just wow what an adrenaline shot to the heart kind of volume. That and getting to see Goku and vegeta’s training paths finally start to differ has me beyond hype… also who’s the grenohlah character?? 4.5/5

Nope. Just nope. I like Ultra Instinct because it's a return to the ideas inherent to martial arts, and it looks cool, too. But the whole storyline, and the art, are just dismal. Terrible. Endless repetition without any emotional payoff, coupled with a total lack of imagination and a cynical money grab. I've given DBS so many second chances, but this was the last one.

Hereby, I officially refuse to acknowledge DBS as part of the Dragon Ball universe. Let me find the Dragon Balls and erase this manga from existence! :D

This volume brings to an end the story arc around Moro. Who knows, maybe the anime will finally be revived to give fans this arc? Then again, I wasn't too thrilled by how this volume progressed. There's a lot of deus ex machina, a lot of second chances, a lot of odd plot twists that felt undeserved. The story also gets a bit odd, stretching out the tension unnecessarily. At least it introduces a new level of saiyan powers through Goku. You can only wonder how much stronger anyone can get in Dragon Ball Super after that...

The epilogue chapter introduces the next story arc with a new character driven by revenge and the rebirth (apparently) of another villain. Will it be any good? Only time can tell.

It is what it is. Good artwork and ok action, but it is the same formula repeated again and again. Goku achieves the power level he need to beat the bad guy (Moro), then give them a chance, and they get more powerful, so it begins again. Atlest this time, he realises it. Like all Dragon Ball fans, I know this but keep coming back for more.

This book contains the end of the Moro arc and the beginning of the next arc. Who is the strongest warrior in the universe, and what is his connection to Freeza? Also, Vegeta gets a surprising offer.

The same tried and tested method, but it always seems to work. There are a lot of interesting things to come from the looks of things.

And we end the Moro arc here.

The final fight fight was just okay. Reminded me WAY too much of Naruto and not in a good way.

However, I still loved Moro's viciousness prior and brought back real freeza vibes for a villain. I will say the new arc seems interesting...more adventure than big bad. I'm wondering how this "Space Pirate" is going to exact revenge.

A 3 out of 5.

With Moro practically defeated, leave it up to Goku to prolong the fight by giving him a senzu bean! This drives Moro crazy with power, and after absorbing Seven-Three's power that was left in his severed arm, both are using Ultra Instinct. As he is unused to the level of power and control, Moro's body is swelling from the amount of angelic power he is holding... but rather than busting, he instead merges with the Earth! Goku's Ultra Instinct + chi from his friends + god-like chi from Uub = the energy needed to punch the crystal from Moro's face and destroy him permanently!
(That saga went on a bit too long... but ultimately ended up being ok. Would be cool to see in an anime form, as long as they didn't milk for too many episodes...)
Then, we start a new saga! Granolah, the last survivor of Cerealean Tribe (LOL all of his people will be named after breakfast type stuff! LOL) wants revenge against Freeza and is willing to team up with some gangsters in order to achieve it.
Interested to see where they take it...

But this Volume was good.
Recommend.

Moro's Arc is my favorite Dragon Ball arc since DBZ. I enjoyed the story, concept and the galactic aspect of it all. What I loved the most is the battles. Beautiful drawn. The art was at an all-time great. The action was amazing to follow. Full of excitement and immersion. It's not as emotionally engaging as some of the DBZ arcs but it's the most fun I had since in a overall arc from start to finish. I was personally satisfied with the conclusion of the arc. The debate comes down about Goku's choice at the end but to be honest, that's who he is. Just like Superman, Goku's biggest weakness is his kindness. It may blind him to an idiotic level at times but that's what sets him apart. I hope DBS keeps this level of execution moving forward.

Moro is finally over. And man, this dragged down a lot, with Goku extending the last fight even more by doing something stupid. At least the very final fight was unique.

New saga started, could be fun and unique, or just boring, since it's returning the plot to Freeza. Still, there's at least some promise of unique things to come.

A big finish for the Moro arc and a quick preview of the new one called the Granola Arc, which features a new character, an assassin that is out for revenge against Free a for destroying his planet. Will he be a friend or a foe for Goku? It was a great read and I finished it right after I bought it.

OMMMMMGGG!!

When Goku joins the galactic police force and realizes he must kill the enemy to do his job, he rips off the badge and decides to finish the job as an earthling instead... by showing HUMANITY.

Goku doesn't kill. He will do everything possible to ruin everyone's day just so he doesn't have to kill lol.

What a bold statement! to say, I will do this as an earthling, by showing kindness.

When it is time to get the job done, do it with kindness at its heart. Be like Goku. The ultimate himbo... My dream man!!!

4.5 Stars. The conclusion of Moro and the introduction/setup of Gas make this volume a mix between enjoying seeing the biggest threat defeated and getting a glimpse of the next big bad. I do wish that there was a bit more in between the arcs A slice of Life chapter probably would have made the transition smoother but the way it was done is still pretty good.
Uub doing something besides being hinted at is always nice.
As far as major villains final fights go Morro may not be the most memorable but at this point in the story he certainly had the highest stakes. And I personally liked Morro as a character.
Can't wait to see what's next.

I feel the series is becoming more and more outlandish, like it was back near the end of Z but the beginning of super got me really hyped it was back, the new characters were intresting. The power up we a little, well super Saiyan God, quite up there but I can deal with that, however this arc which has had its moments just felt so manic. Hopefully the next one hits the highest of the tournament of power!

Is it great quality? No. Is it great fun? Yes. Is it repetitive? Absolutely, but we know what to expect from the Dragon Ball series, and while this story arc wasn't excellent I appreciate that the series doesn't take itself too seriously and is good mindless action with characters readers have come to love over many years.

The ending to Moro arc felt very anti-climatic. Granolah looks good, though. Arc's looking promising and fresh, feels like Dragon Ball going back to its roots.

Great to read the wrap up to the Moro arc and the introduction to some exciting character development, but for the love of god, can character names be a little more creative lol?

Goku will never learn. He’s lucky he’s got the right people in his corner, because he made the same mistake Super Gohan made with Cell - the one that caused his death.

Not sure how this happened, but apparently I neither reviewed nor even logged this volume when I first read it years ago....

Uh... I really don't want to write a full review. I've written long reviews for every previous volume of this manga, and I feel like I must have written one for Volume 15 but it's not here. Dammit.

Well, whatever, let's do a little. So Son Goku pulls the stupid "give the villain a Senzu" shit because he's not allowed to learn from his mistakes and must maintain his characterization from the Cell Arc indefinitely. But it doesn't matter because the Senzu's effect on Moro is negligible, at least in a narrative sense; he regains stamina, but it doesn't take long for him to gather the hand severed my Merus earlier, allowing him to absorb Merus's abilities, and thus achieve Ultra Instinct, which theoretically he could have done without the restored power. Anyway, Goku's Perfected Ultra Instinct is still way better than Moro's control, so he kicks the goat's ass again, and Moro cheats by fusing with the planet. Moro (Earth Absorbed) goes beyond what I'd expect if the franchise, and the many hands coming out of the Earth's surface felt more like the giant monsters and summons you'd occasionally see in Naruto or something. It is perhaps only fitting that Goku would win the battle by creating a Ki construct not unlike the big Sharingan things Sasuke and others can make. Also, Merus doesn't actually die because El Grande Padre resurrects him as a mortal, which is kind of nice for him, but also Merus hasn't returned nine volumes later, and is dubiously "canon" anyway.

The last third of this volume starts the new arc, Granolah the Survivor. This dude who looks more like a Chrono Trigger character is working for some Bojack ripoffs while waiting for the chance to take revenge on Freeza for sending Great Apes to wipe out his planet ages ago. The volume ends with the Oracle Fish mumbling in his sleep, something about the strongest person in Universe 7, which will be the theme of this arc.

I don't know if I realized there actually is a visual difference between Moro (Seven-Three Absorbed) and Moro (Ultra Instinct). The Cell marks on his face go light and his back/shoulder hair(?) also goes white.

Oh, also, Uub ends up providing a lot of energy / God Ki to Goku to defeat Moro. And, while the giant Goku made of Ki is kind of "out there" for Dragon Ball, I feel it would be more or less "at home" in a direct-to-video non-canon movie like we used to get. Which is basically the Moro Arc's whole vibe, anyway.

VOLUME 15: CHAPTER 65-68
Arc 5: Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga
Arc 6: Granolah the Survivor Saga

Moro was defeated. Goku gives Moro a senzu bean and make him promise to stay in the galactic prison. Moro attacks Goku but still cannot make a scratch. He then see his hand that being cut by Merus before. The hand managed to copy Merus' ability before he cut it. Moro merged the hand with his body and he got the angel power. Moro now is evenly match with Goku. Suddenly, his body become swelling and bigger as his body cannot withstand the angel powers. Moro merged his body with the Earth to withstand the power. Moro starts to absorb the energy from all living things in Earth. Moro will explode eventually and he will take out Earth and the universe along with him. To stop Moro, Goku must destroy the crystal that contain Merus' power on Moro's forehead. Vegeta arrived and used forced spirit fission on Moro. Goku fly through Moro's forehead but he was stopped and lose all his energy. People on the sanctuary and the others share their chi to Goku but it still not enough. Lord of Lords went to see Uub and send his chi to Goku. Uub possessed the divine power as he is the reincarnation of evil Buu. Goku transform into Ultra Instint again with huge chi avatar. He managed to destroy the crystal along with Moro.

The peace return to the universe. Whis and Beerus were summoned to see the Grand Priest. Merus was ceased to exist after he violated the angel laws. But he was revived as aa mortal. Now, he is back to the Galactic Patrol. Jaco and Calamis went to see the Saganbo's Galactic Brigade members to ask about a faint signal at the Moro's explosion crater. It is probably Seven-Three who sent the signal and he is not dead yet and still regenerated. Jaco and Calamis went to Earth to investigate and found nothing. The Goichi's Army, acquired the half-regenerated Seven-Three. They make OG Soldier from Seven-Three's cell. A bounty hunter, Granolah, attack the Goichi's ship to acquire the Seven-Three. He bring the Seven-Three to Heeters' base. Elec, the leader of the Heeters, know the grudge that Granolah had toward Frieza. Granolah origin is from Planet Cereal. Long ago, Frieza's Army with the aid of the Saiyans slaughtered all the Cerealians. As the Frieza's Army was destroyed and the Saiyans was extincted, Granolah lose his chance to get revenge. Elec told Granolah that Frieza is revived.

SPOILERS

Rambling rant review incoming.

On the whole I found the Moro arc to be exasperating even if I enjoyed bits and pieces (Vegeta training on Yardrat, Goku mastering a new technique, the Z fighters gang getting to fight mooks, Uub getting to be relevant for a couple of panels). I simply detest Moro as a character—his motive is that he’s a megalomaniac. That’s it. He’s super duper mega evil just because he can be in the pursuit of power. It makes it satisfying when he finally gets his comeuppance for all of the atrocities he committed, but that’s all. The newly-introduced Granolah’s revenge plot is already more compelling and he’s only been around for half a volume.

Moro also stabs every single solitary mook he has at his disposal in the back but I’m supposed to believe he has an entire intergalactic jail’s worth of people loyal to him. Even Freeza doesn’t do that to his goons. I had some hope Moro wouldn’t when he was initially introduced because he kept a garbage tier goon around for a long time, but by the end of his arc he is blasting his own people to bits for no reason and stuffing the others down his throat to nab their powers.

This is more of a personal taste thing than anything but in my opinion Moro’s design also gets progressively worse as he gets Cell-ified—I mean, uh, powered up. We really felt like we were retreading in places (Goku giving a baddie a second chance when he really ought to kill them with extreme prejudice part 11,457, for example) and the places where we did something new felt really wild in a weird way (MORO…. MERGES WITH THE PLANET EARTH……… HELLO……?)

All of that said, I’m very excited for the next arc. As I mentioned, I’m immediately hooked by Granolah and I also thought that the Heeters’ motives and designs are fun. I ADORE the Oozaru so I yelled a little at their glorified cameo in this. I doubt that they’ll have a ton of involvement moving forward but I do know there will be some Bardock and I’m definitely interested in that.
