A growing, dangerous power. A deadly threat. A veiled rebellion.

McKenna Sawyer’s first mistake? Expecting things to settle down. In fact, it seems things are only getting worse for the witch and her vampire, who for some reason is treated with such reverence from his kind. But once McKenna finds out what that ‘some reason’ is, the truth sends them spiraling further into the dark.

Hurt that Adrian has been lying to her this whole time, matters only get worse when his fellow vampires don’t accept her the way the Fae did. McKenna doesn’t feel safe, even in Aiden’s arms, and as more secrets start to unravel, McKenna must decide if she wants to help Aiden and his people or, in the face of a rebellion, leave him and his entire kingdom at risk.

Another great book in this series, which I am absolutely loving reading!

This book picks up straight off where book #3 left us. McKenna has finally escaped the clutches of the Seelie Court and the Unseelie prince and runs off with Aiden, the vampire friend who she managed to save from the dungeons! With a group of his men, they make their treacherous, dangerous and downright scary way through dark forests to Aiden's Shadow Court - the court of the vampires.

There McKenna begins to feel safe and believes that everything will work out for the best, but little does she know! Many secrets and lies are revealed - who can she really trust here? Is she any safer than she would have been with Soran or Alathiel? At one point, she just wants to run back to the human realm and be done with the fae realms, but she cannot subject all these people to what might happen if she does just that!

The cliffhanger ending was fantastic - I certainly wasn't expecting that to happen! You'll have to read it to find out though!

McKenna was a little infuriating at times in this book though - she does not want to be a damsel in distress; she wants to be strong, fierce and be able to stand up for herself, but she puts herself into silly situations where she ends up being the damsel, hiding or running away from the dangers! She didn't seem to learn anything from her trip into the city when she was in the Seelie realm and did basically the same thing here!

I always liked Aiden, but after hearing the truths come out, I lost a bit of trust and faith in him, although he did redeem himself towards the end. Hopefully their future together will be bright once more, but who can tell after that ending!

I'm looking forward to reading more of this series!

I did receive a copy of this book through BookSprout but this review is my own honest one!

McKenna and Aiden have escaped and have made it to the Vampire court. But of course things are not all cheery and secrets are discovered that cause problems. Lots of danger, action, suspense, vampires, intrigue and trying to stay alive. McKenna seems to be learning but she is still ending up in crazy situations. Interesting characters and situations to live through. Enjoyed the story and seeing what McKenna must face and overcome this time. Had to see if she had learned enough to make better choices.

McKenna made her choice to put her trust in Aiden and went with him to the vampire kingdom. Then the secrets begin to surface and McKenna needs to make new decisions about who to trust. The story gives a lot more information about the world and the background of vampires and their history with the fae. I enjoyed seeing McKenna grow more confident and look forward to finding out what happens next. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

Mckenna keeps going from one sort of trouble to another. This time she leaves with Aiden and finds out his secret. She almost gets herself killed too. It seems everyone is keeping secrets from her and no one is willing to tell her why she is here and what her purpose is. This book also ends in a very surprising cliffhanger. An enjoyable page turning read.

I love this series. It has a lot of drama and action throughout it. I do get a little irritated with McKenna sometimes but only because at times she doesn't think. However, as the series has progressed, we do see her growing. I love the many support charters as they add a lot to the story. It is definitely a great read that really doesn't disappoint.

McKenna on the way to marry the Unseelie Prince Soran leaves her blood guard Flynn and goes with Aiden. Aiden has kept some big secrets from McKenna and she is unsure how to feel about it and what to do. I loved the fourth in the series, it had me holding my breath half the time in suspense!.

McKenna has left the Seelie court and her mating to the Unseelie Prince. Aiden is waiting to take her with him to the Shadow Court to keep her safe. Supposedly. This story is full of action and romance, ending in a cliffhanger. Highly recommended.

This book has shown how much McKenna has started to show more independance. She has escaped with Aiden and secrets are starting to be revealed. You feel all emotions that she has for Aiden and the new situation she finds herself in. I love how this series is progressing.

Exciting

This series is very exciting. Although every book ends on a cliff-hanger and I can't wait for the next book. One thing I don't understand though... Why did book three have so much repeating in it?b about every two pages, the book would repeat a whole paragraph. Maybe the editors should look again at that book!
