Mistletoe in Juneau by Dahlia Rose
A Hallmark publication. Holiday romance.
Danni leaves her hometown of New York to visit with her best friend for the Christmas holiday in Juneau, Alaska. She puts her social media influencer career on temporary hold for the slower pace in the smaller Alaskan city. State Trooper Declan is intrigued by Danni, but also leery since he’s been burned by a city girl in the past that couldn’t deal with his disability.

A touching and emotional romance that follows the Hallmark standard template. Knowing what’s going to happen at one point in the story doesn’t make it any less devastating when it does or the joyful tears when everything wraps up.
I loved this story. The bonus recipe at the end sounds really good too.

🎧 I listened to an audio version that was narrated by Janina Edwards. The performance was modulated well with different voices for the main characters. Emotions and stress were enunciated clearly and with passion. I listened to most of the recording at 1.2 which is my regular and preferred speed. I could have sped it up to 1.4 to still be in conversational comfort.
4.5

I received a copy of the audiobook from NetGalley and DreamscapeMedia.

Such a sweet “feel it down to my toes” comfort read! It was definitely Hallmarky, and more of a clean romance, but it gave me all the essential feels that I look for in my reads. I love a grumpy hero/sunshine girl trope and this book delivers. Declan & Danni were definitely fire and ice, but they were absolutely perfect for each other!

I bought this book at Ollie's for $2.99, because I liked the cover and the title. I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I'm glad I took a chance on it. I really enjoyed it. I loved spending time with the characters, especially when Danni was in Juneau. The ending was so sweet.

A charming holiday romance from Hallmark!

Mistletoe in Juneau follows Danni, a Black social media influencer who has semi-broken up with her crappy boyfriend/manager when she goes to visit her best friend in Alaska for the holidays. While there, she gets to know Declan- an indigenous (Inuit) disabled war veteran currently working as an Alaska state trooper. She never thought butterfly-type love was real and he thinks he's unloveable because of his missing leg, but sparks fly between the two.

This was a really sweet romance and I loved the way it represented indigenous Alaskan culture. This is very much what you might expect from a Hallmark movie, but with some much needed diversity. I might have liked a bit deeper characterization and I do think the engagement at the end happened too fast, but overall I really liked this and would certainly recommend it if you want a cute holiday romance! The audio narrator does a great job and it's easy to listen to. I received an audio review copy from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This is a Christmas Romance. I wanted to really love this book, but that was just not the case. It took me several times of starting and restarting this audiobook to get into it enough to finish this audiobook. I just wanted more cute and fun times in this book. I wanted to love the characters more. I just found this book just ok. The narrator of this was good, and the narrator was not my problem with this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Well, this was a delightful novel! It was full of Christmas cheer and a feeling of home for the main character, as well as a sense of belonging that had been missing in her life. I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a great job, too!

Danni and Declan were wonderful characters. Danni needed a break from the high pressure lifestyle she had fallen into. Declan had been wounded both physically and emotionally years earlier. He was a strong man and had retreated to his hometown, a place where the stress of PTSD did not cause him as much anxiety as it used to.

I loved the interactions between Danni and Declan. They were truly made for each other and even though they grew closer during Danni’s visit, each was hesitant to take the next step, letting fear hold them back. This was definitely a satisfying and wholly romantic read, with a wonderful epilogue at the end.

The author did a great job of creating a community full of people who felt real to me as I listened to their stories. I really enjoyed both the main and many side characters and the town felt like a place that I could call home.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Second chance romance set in Alaska at Christmas? Yes please! This was like a cup of cocoa on a snowy day.
Dani is a social media influencer who’s struggling with her newfound fame, that is going to a whole different level thanks to her manager/boyfriend, Austin. When her BFF invites her to get away and come to Alaska for the holidays and to meet the baby that is due anytime, Dani deceits a sign and she off she goes. While there, the little town embraces her in ways that big city living can’t, and the town trooper quickly shows her what love is really meant to be like.
Thanks to Hallmark Publishers and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

(Might have minor spoilers. CWS/TWS at end of review. Some are mentioned within my review too.) I loved this book so much that words cannot explain it! Danni and Declan and all of the other characters were so fun a realistic. Everyone had their own personalities and no one was left out of the story. Reading this book was like a big soft blanket. Warm and cozy.

The story takes place during the days up to Christmas. So we get all the cozy Christmas vibes. This book is a Dual POV(sort of)which I tend to prefer in romance books. Everything was very slice of lifeish. Just following our main characters in their everyday lives getting ready and setting things up and just living. The romance was cute and took some work because both of our main characters can't make up their mind lol. The romance wasn't the main focus of the book which I loved. We got to see both Declan and Danni do their own life things. The story never got boring because there was always something happening, small or big it was entertaining. There were also some really funny moments.

Danni(the main character) is a social media influencer that's not as happy as she was. Her current boyfriend keeps making big, important decisions without her and her life is growing tiresome. She feels lonely and misunderstood by her family and tries hard to make her career as an influencer be respected by them. Things become too much with current boyfriend and She decides to visit her best friend in Alaska. The moment she lands in Auke Bay everything changes especially when she meets Declan.

Declan is a retired vet who lost his leg in a tragic accident during his time serving. He's quiet, feels bad about himself and thinks no one can ever love him until Danni shows up in his life. Declan's portrayel was realistic and informative. We get to see him slowly heal a bit more with Danni in his life and all his friends and family being there for him when he needs them most, UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE!! 😡 I would say more but I don't want to spoil that part of the story. Let's just say I was upset and slightly angry. I can't imagine how Declan must've felt.

The locations in this book are described beautifully. We also learn some things while reading too. I actually did some fact checking and learned even more. Love it when a book makes me learn. It's always so fun! I also learned a some Tlingit words too.

I'd love to read a book about Mateo and Amy. They played a big part in the story as Danni and Declan's friends. Every scene with them was fun or a wise teaching moment.

There is a chocolate cake recipe at the end of the book too. Can't wait to give it a try!

There were some errors on certain pages like missing letters, random 1s and etc. It's not that big of a deal but I thought I should mention it.

If you haven't yet, I highly recommend giving this book a read!

CWS/TWS:This book handled some serious topics like PTSD, Anxiety and mentions of a past accident. Declan explained it in some detail and mentioned how he lost a friend during the accident. No graphic details though. I think this story is mentioned at least twice. Declan also talks about things related to his Anxiety,PTSD and how he sees himself as a person. Most of the time he doesn't say good things about himself. Broke my heart in all honesty.

Listen to Your Heart

An enchanting romance set during the Christmas holiday season against the backdrop of Alaska and the allure of the northern lights. wholesome, clean romance story of a city girl from New York and a country boy from Juneau.

Danni is a city girl from New York. She runs a media platform as her job and when it get a bit too much, when the city becomes too hectic and she has had it with her boyfriend Manager and sort of breaks up with him; she escapes to Juneau, Alaska to spend a few weeks with her best friend Amy and think about where things are going in her life.

Declan is the sheriff of the small Alaskan town where Danni's friend Amy lives. He lost his leg in the service and his girlfriend at the same time as she could not cope with his injury. He is not wishing to find another girlfriend just live his solitary life in the wilderness.

Danni falls in love with the small town and it embraces her and she becomes like family. She takes part in all the celebrations leading up to Christmas. Since Declan is best friends with Amy's husband they meet. It is a very small town so they are thrown together as a couple. Eventually Danni falls for Declan and he falls for Danni, but neither of them can shrug off the past. Both of them think it will not work because their worlds are so different. Will they find a way to each other, or will Danni return to the city and Declan to his wilderness?

I loved the characters and the setting. The little Alaskan town seemed to be a really friendly place to be. The celebrations sounded like lots of fun for all. It had a great narrator and moved at a fast pace to keep me interested. I liked that it was a wholesome romance.

It is a very good book and the little twist at the end makes for a very good ending for the book. I did enjoy reading it and I would recommend it.

Thanks to Dahlia Rose for writing a great story, Janina Edwards for being a great narrator, Hallmark for publishing it and NetGalley for making it available to me.

"Mistletoe in Juneau" by Dahlia Rose was such a beautiful, feel-good read. I enjoyed reading about Danni and Declan. Danni is from New York City, and Delcan is from Alaska. Danni goes to Alaska to see her best friend that she hasn't seen in years. While there she meets Declan and he changes her views on the big city. You can't help but smile while reading this book. My favorite part was when Declan gave Danni a Christmas gift when she was going back to NYC.

A huge thanks to Hallmark Publishing for my e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly wow, what did I just read.

Mistletoe in Juneau follows Danni a social media influencer who like any influencer is chasing endorsements and recognition. Danni is feeling overwhelmed with her workload and her manager boyfriend Austin who keeps overwhelming her.. Feeling burnt out, she decides to go visit her friend and husband in Alaska while they get ready for the birth of their child. There she meets a trooper called Declan Mathias. It was so refreshing following two adorable humans discovering Alaska and falling for each other. I love it!

Mistletoe in Juneau is a heartwarming, holiday romance. Danni's a social media influncer who's way out of her element. She broke up with her boyfriend, left New York to spend Christmas with a friend in Juneau, Alaska.

This was such a cute Christmas novel to get me into the Christmas season. This is very much what you might expect from a Hallmark movie, but with some much needed diversity. I see a movie in the making!

I see a movie in the making! The imagery of the Alaskan “frontier” included by this author gave me the ability as a reader to fully visualize each scene. Declan and Danni were both looking for their place in life and appeared to be polar opposites. They discovered that anyone can be the anchor another person needs

This was fine. I thought the characters were ok. There is different types of representation but I can’t speak on if it’s good or not. This was so insta-love it’s crazy. I didn’t think I like following social media people. I do think it’s odd how she never visited family or her best friend.

How is it, every Hallmark book I read or movie I watch makes me want to move away to that small town in Vermont or Connecticut and begin to live my life in the snowy region? This story is no different - only this time I am ready for too many months of winter in a small town near Juneau, Alaska. My bucket list already has an Alaskan cruise up near the top, so why not just settle in and live there year round!

This time around, Danni - the quintessential influencer from New York - feels that her life is spiraling out of control. Her best friend, who she has not seen in TOO LONG, is about to have a baby, her boyfriend is not understanding that she wants out of the relationship, and it's all just a bit too much. WE ARE OFF TO ALASKA to visit Danni's best friend, Amy and her husband Mateo!

Once there, the Hallmark magic begins. What makes this book stand out isn't just the beauty of Alaska (which, again, I hope becomes a movie!) but also the way the author tackles post military life and PTSD. Declan, having lost his leg while serving, has gone home to his small town near Juneau, but is still reeling from not only losing his leg, PTSD from experiencing war, but also losing the love of his life when she walked away from him and his battered body. Learning to open his heart again is definitely not easy.

Danni also doesn't participate in ONLY holiday activities, as she also gets to experience life in Alaska. We get to read about ice fishing, seeing the Northern Lights, and how to get around with thick snow (hello snowmobiling)! But don't worry - there's still some holiday magic that goes along with Danni and Declan's story as well!

This book has everything you need for a classic Hallmark Christmas. Pick it up today for when you are ready to dive into the holiday cheer!

Thank you to Hallmark Publishing for providing an advanced reader copy via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I thought this book was perfect. Everything was there, and I enjoyed every second as it played out in my mind. I liked the opposites that Danni had going on between her normal life and her visit to Alaska. It was nice that she could fit in both so well, and made me like her even more. Oh, and Declan! Sweet Declan. It's impossible to not like him. The chemistry between them melted my heart. It was just so good. This was one of those books where if someone caught me reading it, they probably thought I was weird, because I couldn't hold back my reactions as I was reading. Whether it was a "whoop" of joy, or a sob of sadness, I couldn't hold it back. Kind of like my tendency to tell everyone I know to go read this book. It can't be stopped. This was my first Dahlia Rose book. I consider her a master of the inner struggle, and an expert at a sweet love story full of wonderful characters. She threw in quite a few interesting little facts too, which I love. I appreciate those kinds of things, and the research that goes into it.

I loved the idea of a travel/adventure blogger and am wondering how I can apply for that job! I was a little surprised by Danni's parent's reaction to her job, but kept my fingers crossed for a change of heart before the end. I loved the friendships and that Declan was more of a Cinnamon Roll hero than he might want people to believe.

I can see so much of Dahlia in this book, and sometimes even heard the narration in her voice. Surprise little quips had me laughing all the way to the end. I was pleased to see Danni really talk with her family; it went a long way for me to see where everyone was coming from. The entire Alaskan crew were delightful ... I loved everybody. Juneau was an imperfectly perfect town full of culture, history, and family. Declan was scared to hope he was worth anyone's romantic interest, but the whole town helped him see how special he was too.

Overall ... this was such a warm, feel-good story.

I am not going to lie, this has now become my new favorite Dahlia Rose book. I recommend this book to everyone. I love it when veterans are involved and their entire assessment of themselves is proven wrong. EVERYBODY deserves to be loved for who they are. The interactions between Danni and Declan had me staying up all night until I finished the book. Time just slipped away. And of course I always love a holiday romance.

Cute and cozy holiday novel. Could easily be a hit Hallmark movie.

Pros: gives you all the Christmas feels, great descriptions of the Alaskan winter landscape.

Cons: slow start, needs more editing

Overall, a short enjoyable book and I’m glad I read it! 🎄

It was a fine, average, cheesy 3 star read for most of the book. My disappointment came from a decent amount of typos, especially in the second half of the book. One was even the love interest’s name! It was also missing the cake recipe in the back of the book.
