Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
I don't normally give out spoilers, and I've tried to explain what I can, without being too specific, but there are things that need saying, to explain, at least a little, as to what's going on, so I put this warning here, so that you don't read on, if you want to read this book blind! Lol
Cheyenne is doing her best to try to find a way that she can get her crazy Aunt to leave the Crown, of her own free will, and without having to actually fight her, to the death, in order to have to take her place, thus being forced to stay in Ambar'ogul permanently.
She knows she only has a fortnight to do so, as this was a time predetermined by the fact of her placing the coin, that L'zar had given her, to place on the Altar, in the centre of the Drow City.
This Challenge to her Aunt, was necessary, due to the way that Ba'rael was destroying Ambar'ogul, in her greed for ever more magical power.
Cheyenne hadn't been told that she was expected to take the Crown for herself, and wasn't interested in doing so - but with the future of every person living on Ambar'ogul at stake, and with L'zar acting more and more as though he were crazy, Cheyenne is becoming more frantic to find an answer to the problem of who would take the Crown next, and to find someone that will suit everyone!
When they discover a secret that Ba'rael has been keeping, L'zar is determined to travel to where he suspects he'll find, and be able to use, that secret, against his Sister.
So, L'zar arranges a trek, along with Cheyenne, plus the Fae, Ember, her Nos Ani, and along with the Nightstalkers Corian, L'zar's own Nos Ani, and Maleshi, the self-exiled Crown General.
They also bring along their Goblin companions, Byrd and Lumil and, the final addition to their team, is the ancient Raug Oracle, Foltr, who is the only one of them who had been to the place they would be travelling to.
Their journey would be a long one, filled with many hazards, and it would take them to the one person who could help Foltr get them into the place they want to go to.
But Cazerel, the Zokri, or Chieftain, of the Hirul Breach raugs, is dying, and the only person who might be able to save him, is in that party - but can it be done?
This was an incredible journey, and ended with an even more incredible cliffhanger, so I really want to go on to the next book of the series, which is Book Twelve: 'The Drow Challenge', to find out what happens next!
Once I have, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it but, if it's anything like this book, it'll be a real belter! Lol
Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading about Cheyenne, Ember & their group of misfits/friends. So exciting!! But this latest twist has me speechless!!
