Welcome to Cape Kismet, where the neighbors are nosy, the bookstores offer an escape, and epic romances abound.
A hot brother? Try two. Dating the same person for more than a decade has its pitfalls. Like being dumped out of the blue and realizing you have nowhere to go, no one else to rely on. Yep, I Kennedy Davis was a fool. It wasn’t until Harley said he wanted to chase a big love that I realized what we had wasn’t it. Sleeping in my car outside my favorite bookstore is what I always wanted to do. Really. We’ll call it “camping”. When Hadden finds me “camping”, he offers me a guest room, no strings attached. But there are always strings. Because he’s my ex-boyfriend’s older brother. An older brother I once thought I’d loved. Yeah, this will end well. Did I mention he’s a cop who looks great in uniform? It’s only a matter of time before I smash the cardinal rules of breakups. Don’t crush on your ex’s brother. And definitely don’t fall in love with him. Oops.
The Perfect Boyfriend is book two in the Perfect Man romantic comedy series. Dive in for plenty of swoons, lots of laughs, and a guaranteed HFN ending.
Lynn Dare is the pen name for authors Michelle MacQueen and Michelle Dare. One day, they were talking about tropes and cliches when an idea was born. Next thing they knew, they had a book planned out. The Perfect Man is their first series together where they combine humor and romance. They hope you fall in love with their characters and laugh at their antics along the way.
Kennedy Davis has been dumped by her boyfriend Harley. They've been together for 11 years so the break up comes as a shock to Kennedy. When she leaves their condo she soon realises that she has nowhere to go. She ends up sleeping in her car outside her favourite book shop. That's where Hadden finds her. Once, he and Kennedy were best friends, and she even had a crush on him. When Hadden offers her to stay in his guest room she's reluctant at first. Hadden and Harley happen to be brothers...
I liked the female main character better in this book (Kennedy) than in the first of the series (Ellie), The Perfect Man. We met Hadden in the first book, as Ellie used him as a role model for the stripping cop in her new book. Hadden actually is a cop, but he's no stripper! He goes on a lot of dates, though. Unfortunately they seldom lead to a second date, since Harley is set on finding "the one" - and that someone seems very hard to find. Until Kennedy suddenly reenters his life. Hadden has been secretly in love with Kennedy, but when she got together with his brother he accepted that she never would be his.
We get both Hadden's and Kennedy's POV's, so it's no surprise to the reader that they have feelings for each other. It's really frustrating when they keep pushing those feelings down and refuse to act on them! To me it felt like it draged on for a bit too long.
This series is a romantic comedy, so it's supposed to be humorous. Still, I was surprised that I actually laughed out loud at more than one occasion! It's very rare for me. That a book makes me smile, maybe even giggle? Sure! But laugh out loud? Almost never! That was a nice surprise!
* I received an ARC from the author and I'm giving my honest review. *
If you have read The Perfect Man and loved Ellie and Cruz's story, then you have to read Kennedy and Hadden's story! We all met Hadden in the first book, remember, he was the stripper cop? OK, so he's not really a stripper but he is really a cop. Kennedy is our new character in the book. She is an aspiring author and she has known Hadden for quite some time now, it does get a bit sticky though because she's..well she's his brother's girlfriend..actually, make that ex-girlfriend now.
This book is filled with so many lol moments and banter that you will have a perma-smile on your face the whole time you're reading this book and even when you are just thinking about the book! The characters are so realistic, they are flawed like us and they make us really want to be a part of their world. That is one of the biggest draws to this series. The writing flows so well that it's impossible to see where one author ends and the other begins (Lynne Dare is a pen name for the two authors writing this series- Michelle MacQueen and Michelle Dare).
Now you don't have to read it as a series- you will be just as happy if read as a standalone- but you do get the background info on most of the characters from the previous book. There are rehashes and you won't feel lost but it's also such a great read that you need to treat yourself! A really fantastic contemporary romance that will you in stitches one moment, then fanning yourself the next.
I totally enjoyed this book! Kennedy and her long-term boyfriend, Harley, break up. She ends up sleeping in her car in front of a bookstore. Harley’s older brother, Hadden is a cop. Noticing her sleeping there, he offers her a temporary living arrangement with him so she has a place to stay. Both of them had a small secret crush on each other in the past. But neither wants to make a move because of Harley. Who is going to break this impasse and make the first move for their own relationship?
Laughs and fun along the way make this a great addition to the series. I liked the characters and the story line. Will they get their HEA? Grab your copy and enjoy their journey to wherever it takes them!
This is such a fun series! Hadden we met in the first book. He was the cop that became friends with Grey and Cruz and lives across from Ellie. Not only do we get to see the others from the first book but it also sets up for the next book with a new character and an previous one. Steady paced with drama added makes this one a great read.
This novel was a total hoot! Kennedy is in a dilemma. She loves one but is fake dating the other. You will have to read this novel to unravel this scenario, but on the way, you will swoon, rage, cry and laugh out loud at the antics of the cast of characters.. It is that good.
If you read The Perfect Man then you’ll want this Bc Hadden’s time is here. Along with Ellie, Grey, Cruz and Cruz’s sister Cecilia.
Kennedy’s been dating Harley for 11yrs and is blindsided when he breaks up with her. He say’s he loves her but isn’t in love with her and that they should find their big love.
Kennedy packs a bag and with nowhere to go head to a bookstore where her favorite author writes art and hopes it’ll work out.
Kennedy herself is an author and trying to write her next book so she doesn’t have a job. Kennedy’s shocked to bump into Hadden, Harley’s older brother. The Hardwick brother’s don’t have the best relationship so they haven’t seen each other in awhile.
Kennedy had a crush on Hadden in her teenage years before she started dating Harley. That night she decides to sleep in her car and make a plan the next day. Until Hadden knocks on her window and insists she stay with him till she figures it out.
Hadden had a crush on Kennedy before she started dating Harley. He’s shocked that she’s here in his apartment and that his brother broke up with her.
Hadden will do anything for Kennedy, his family, friends and for his town. He loves being a cop even though it’s such a small quiet town.
The longer Kennedy stays with him and the more time Hadden spends around her the more he’s confused. He buried his feeling’s for Kennedy years ago but they seem to be popping back up.
Hadden knows that being with Kennedy would be wrong Bc she’d been with his brother and his relationship with Harley hasn’t been in a good place for awhile.
Watching these two fight their feeling’s for each other along with the craziness of their friend’s is priceless.
I absolutely loved this book!!! Once I picked it up I was hooked. Kennedy, Ellie and Cecilia together had me LMAO. Hadden and Grey together had me LOL.
The only thing I didn’t like was the break in. That whole part didn’t make sense Bc nothing came of it.
I’m so excited Cecilia’s next Bc I been hooked on her from the beginning and I’m excited to get into Harley’s head. I am dying to get Grey’s book as well.
This was labeled as book two in the series, but it could be read as a stand alone. The characters from the previous book are in this one, but that author does an amazing job of setting it up so that the reader doesn't have to read the series in order. The reader will 100% want to go back to read it the previous book, but they don't have to start there.
This book gives us Kennedy and Harley...and Hadden...Harley and Hadden are brothers and both love Kennedy, but in different ways. Harley and Kennedy have been together for 11 years but there is no "Big Love" to quote Harley - Hadden has always had feelings for Kennedy but didn't act on them because...hello, brothers...can this love triangle become a circle without the brothers falling apart?
There are lots of laughs, especially laugh out loud moments (beware when reading), angst, fun, and just about any other emotion you can think of as you devour the pages of this one! This author is one of my new favorites - I am already on my way to one click book 3 in the series!
Don't hesitate to add this one and her others to your TBR list - they are a must read and a must read now!!

Struggling romance author Kennedy Davis has been best friends with freelance photographer Harley Hardwick since she was six. He's helped her through some very difficult times. They've been romantically involved for eleven years. Now, after returning home from a trip, he's forcing her to see that while they deeply love each other, they aren't in love with each other. She writes about a big love and that's what he wants both of them to find. She's crushed because she realizes that he's speaking the truth.
Kennedy never knew her father. Her mother died when she was fifteen and she had no one. Mr. and Mrs. Hardwick welcomed her into their family of two boys, Harley, who was her age, and their older son, Hadden.
Hadden's always had a soft spot for Kennedy, or Ken, as his family calls her. He once had feelings for her, but he buried them when she and Harley became romantically involved. He's fulfilled his dream of becoming a policeman. He's a sergeant on the Cape Kismit police force. His next dream is not only to purchase a house but also to find the woman who will make it into a home. Is Kennedy the one he's looking for? Or does she still love his brother?

Cute, quick, entertaining, engaging and quirky characters. Nothing out of the ordinary. In this one, all the characters you met in The Perfect Man (book one) are present and haven’t changed much. Of course, The Perfect Boyfriend probably starts just a few weeks after book one ends. This one concentrates on the resident hot police officer, Hadden Hardwick, aka Officer McHottie. Hadden’s brother, Harley, has been the lucky guy who has been dating Kennedy for the last decade+. But Harley has ended things. Abruptly. And Kennedy doesn’t have anywhere to go so she just starts driving. She ends up in Cape Kismet not knowing that Hadden lives there now. Both Hadden and Kennedy had crushed on one another in high school but neither let the other one know. Which is one of the reasons Hadden left home right after high school. He doesn’t know about the breakup, but he’s about to find out.
Kennedy and Hadden dance around one another. Just like you’d expect. It’s fun to watch them work it out, but there isn’t anything that will surprise you. I do think every one of these characters acts more immature than you would expect considering they are all in their late 20s to early 30s. Often, you’ll get the feeling they’re all back in high school or college. The story goes quickly enough that you don’t get too annoyed with it, though.
The Perfect Boyfriend is a slow burn roommates romance that also has to do with repairing the relationship between brothers. Kennedy just broke up with Harley and ended up sleeping in her car in front of a bookshop. Harley's brother Hadden notices her there and invites her to live with him temporarily. Now, the thing is that Hadden's always had a bit of a crush on her and at she had feelings for him before she started going out with Harley, but it's rather hard for either of them to do anything about it because of his brother, so it's slow burn while they're not talking.
I am not super keen on high school crush romances in which they fell into feelings off the page years ago and we miss out on why but I enjoyed the writing, and I liked that they put in the effort to repair things with the brother. I was hoping they'd get the photograph back but no.
Content: there is a crime and a fire but no one gets badly hurt. Steam level: Sex is discussed and implied but nothing much happens on the page, Series status: This is the second book in the series and Harley gets his own HEA in The Perfect Husband. I read them in the wrong order so couldn't feel too sorry for Harley here.
Easily read this in a few days! Once I started reading I didn’t want to put this book down. The Perfect Boyfriend is the second in a new series by two authors. I honestly liked this book better than the first one. Kennedy is such a down to earth girl that has been living her life with the same guy for 11 years. Unfortunately this book starts out with her being dumped and having no where to go. Turns out she’s been dating Harley which is Hadden’s brother; who we met in the first book. I definitely liked Hadden more than Harley and this book made me like Hadden even more. He was a pretty cool guy who helped out friends and took in Kennedy when she had nowhere else to go. I felt the chemistry between Hadden and Kennedy way more and thought that Harley was more like a brother to her. I can’t believe they stayed together for 11 years but at the same time it makes sense. Things could have ended barely and almost did but thankfully everyone decided to stop fighting and talk things out. I thought the ending was great and loved the Christmas gifts the brothers got Kennedy. I’m excited to see how things go in the third book between Harley and Cecilia; plus how close Harley is living to Hadden, things could get interesting.
If you read The Perfect Man and loved Ellie and Cruz's story, then you MUST read Kennedy and Hadden's story! We all met Hadden in the first book, he is the stripper cop. OK, so he's not a stripper but he is a cop..a cop you will fall in love with. And Kennedy..well she is his brother's girlfriend..well, make that ex-girlfriend.
Feelings come into play in this cute rom-com along with some laugh out loud moments. There are fights, first dates (many of them) and, of course, romance. What could go wrong? How about everything..when it's between brothers. And who should be in the middle..why, Kennedy of course. She meets new people like Ellie and Cecilia, Cruz's fun sister. Plus, wine..lots and lots of wine. Oh, and did I mention sex candles? You have to read to figure those out. And when you do, laughter ensues.
So get this book, have a glass of wine or whatever you drink, and relax while reading Hadden and Kennedy's story. You won't be disappointed!

3.5 stars. This is the first story I’ve read by these authors. I didn’t know what to expect but the blurb intrigued me so I picked it up. This is a closed door romance but it isn’t clean enough I’d want my teen reading it to provide an indicator of heat level. So a bit tamer than what I normally read.
I enjoyed the story a lot. I loved the premise of the male and female leads, Hadden and Kennedy, renewing a friendship that had been allowed to lapse and then building into a new relationship. I liked the themes of the importance of family, both biological and found, and how one can build on the other, and the theme of reconciliation between family members. I’m not such a fan of pratfalls and groin damage, etc. I know these are staples of romantic comedy but they’re not so much my thing.
The story is dual POV, well written and edited, and I definitely enjoyed it. I shall look for the first and the next ones in the series.

So adorable! I didn’t want to stop reading the book when I got it. It was definitely hard to put down.
Kennedy is an author like Ellie that writes romance novels. She finds herself in a predicament after her boyfriend of 11 years tells her it’s over between them. She doesn’t have any family by blood that she can turn to so she thinks of the family that took her in.
Hadden, the single cop who goes on forever first dates, is the brother of her newly exboyfriend (Harley). The three of them grew up together and when Kennedy lost her mom, Hadden’s family took her in. He’s been burying his feelings for Kennedy ever since she and his brother have been dating.
I love that Kennedy thinks about going to Hadden first when Harley tells her it’s not working. I’m glad there is more than one author in the series because I absolutely adored Ellie’s book and couldn’t wait to find out more about authors! It’s so perfect and I love it! Can’t wait till book 3!!
I loved this story so much more than the first book in this series (not that the first one wasn't good, this one I just enjoyed more). I connected with the characters immediately and couldn't put this book down until I knew their story.
Kennedy and Harley have been together for 11 years. When she was younger, she lived with Harley, his brother, Hadden and their mom. Her and Harley started dating and moved in together. This story starts off with Harley breaking up with her. She's crushed, leaves and has no where to go. She decides to sleep in her car and of course as luck would have it, hot cop Hadden finds her in front of his apartment.
Kennedy had such a crush on Hadden growing up, and even though she dated/lived with Harley, she always had a soft spot for Hadden.
Great story, great characters!! Hadden and Kennedy had so much chemistry, I'm so glad they got what they deserved!! I look forward to reading the next installment of this series!!
I've read the romance trope before where the girl falls for her ex's brother, but the ex is usually a jerk who doesn't deserve her. Although, Harley was a jerk because he knew Kennedy had a crush on his brother, but instead convinced her to date him and then strings her along and after eleven years suddenly breaks up with her. Hadden is attracted to Kennedy, but before he could say anything his brother started dating her. Now they are broken up but it still feels taboo to Hadden to want to be with her. And they also have a lot of miscommunications and mixed messages that keep Kennedy and Hadden from dating each other including all her phone calls with Harley that make it seem like they are getting back together. Some of Hadden's dates while he was trying to find the one made me want to run in another direction and put out a restraining order, but Morgan was pretty cool and I would love to hear more about her in a future book.
The Perfect Boyfriend is the second book in The Perfect Man serie by Lynn Dare. It can act as a standalone.
This time it's Hadden and Kennedy story. Kennedy just broke up with the person she's been for the last decade and she have no where to go and don't know who to turn to. Hadden find her sleeping in her car and offer her a room. Both have know each other for a really long time. But Hadden is her ex, Harley, brother. And Ken had a crush on him since she was younger. Hadden also have feeling for her. Feeling that he kept buried deep inside when Ken start dating his brother. Dating the ex of your brother seems like a bad idea. But they can really denied the feeling they have.
Really loved their storie. Also love seing Ellie again. Can't wait to read the next book in the serie. I have received an arc of this book from the author and booksprout.
'The Perfect Boyfriend' by Lynn Darw is the second book in her The Perfect Man series and tells the story between Kennedy, who has living with her her true love Harley for over 11 years until he blindsides her by breaking up, and Hadden, Harley's older brother who comes to Kennedy's aid when she's at her lowest. Rules are meant to be broken.
Ms. Dare has written a great addition to her series and having it set in the same bookstore as the first book is wonderful because you get to visit with the other characters from the previous book. The sparks between Kennedy and Hadden are hard to ignore. This book had drama, some tears, lot of laughs, and plenty of steam. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet love story.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story contains plenty of drama, a healthy dose of slapstick, and everything in between. And, of course, lots of swoons. This *is* a romance, after all.
I loved both Kennedy and Hadden - each on their own, but also as a couple. Bring on those sparks and those butterflies! *happy sigh* My only complaint would be that most of the conflict stems from someone jumping to conclusions, seeing or hearing what they want to see/hear, and not talking things out with each other. This goes for Kennedy and Hadden as well as for Hadden and Harley.
Aside from that, I have to say, the more I read in this series, the more I fall in love with the town - and the townsfolk - of Cape Kismet. Can't wait to read Cecilia's story next!
I love this series, and I enjoyed this book more than the first. So far, this series has been hard to put down. Although the laughs, the “drama,” and the taco’s continue from the first book, we do have a new couple. Hadden, who we met in the first book, is our sexy, serial dater of a cop; and Kennedy, yet another romance writer who finds herself in a predicament. She ends up at her favorite bookstore in Cape Kismet.
As the strong author theme continues, and this pair is doing a great job with it. It keeps the story flowing and allows for lots of wine. The characters are entertaining, with amusing complications.
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Kennedy quit her job when her boyfriend of 11 years said he wanted to support her writing career. She did not expect him to break up with her 3 months later. With nowhere to go she looks for refuge in Cape Kismet at her favorite bookstore. Which happens to be her favorite author, Ellie Amore’s, preferred bookstore & home. It also happens to be next door to her old crush… and ex’s older brother.
Hadden is furious with his brother when he finds out he broke up with Kennedy & finds her sleeping in her car outside his apartment. Hadden has had feelings for Kennedy that he’s been pushing aside for over ten years, but until now she was reserved for his brother. Now she’s single & in his apartment, but he can’t make a go for her. Can he?
I loved the returning characters from book 1 & the character development for some of those characters. I enjoyed the storyline & layout a lot more in this book, it flowed better for me. Regardless, another great RomCom, I’m really enjoying this duo.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review
Kennedy is devastated when her best friend and boyfriend Harley breaks up with her. Heartbroken and homeless, sh is saved by Harley’s brother Hadden who moves her in with him. Hadden has always had a crush on Kennedy. Kennedy is attracted to Hadden but can she really start something with her ex’s brother? There is a great rapport and chemistry between Haddena nod Kennedy, and it is heart-warming to see. I also loved the strong theme of family and friendships in this story.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
The Perfect Boyfriend is the second book in the series. It’s a slow burn roommates forbidden romance. Kennedy just broke up with her boyfriend Harley and doesn’t have place so she ended up sleeping in her car in front of a bookshop. Harley's brother Hadden notices her there and invites her to live with him temporarily. Both of them had feelings for each other but never acted on it and then Hadden lost his chance when Kennedy stared going out with his brother. Now they have been given chance by fate to rekindle the old feelings . This book was entertaining , fun with romance and steam . It was a wonderful read .
A truly emotional roller coaster, the first chapter broke my heart, but later I was giggling at one hilarious scenario or another, then some more heartache! Not only did my heart break for Kennedy, but also for Harley and Hadden. These three had their issues, and talking was not their forte. This is a love triangle, but not like you think. Sweet and heartfelt, with sibling rivalry, surviving heartbreak and unrequited love and finally finding your big love. A heartwarming HEA. Love this series, highly recommend it.

Hadden and Kennedy’s story is a sweet one. They both had crushes on each other back in high school but never knew it. Nothing ever came of it because Kennedy started dating Harley, Haden’s brother. Now, 11 years later, Harley breaks up with her saying they need to find their “big love.”
Without a place to live, Kennedy ends up staying with Offer Hadden. Needles to say, seeing each other every day, old feelings resurface. These two had the sparks souring.
The book has so many great things to offer….great side characters, storyline, and passion.

Lynn Dare has done an amazing job with this series, the books are well written and the characters well developed. There's not a lot of steam but for the storyline doesn't really need it to keep you reading till the very last page. Definitely recommend adding The Perfect Boyfriend to your must read list. Even though I did receive an advanced review copy of this book, I also purchased the book/read with Kindle Unlimited and am voluntarily leaving my own unsolicited opinion with my voluntary review.
love it !!! love Kennedy and Hadden... this is their story... well... it really starts of when Harley dumps Kennedy after 11 years together.. so , yeah Harley is Hadden's brother. when Hadden bumps into Kennedy she is sleeping in her car, she has nowhere to go... so , Hadden let's her stay at his place... let the fun times begin also , the fights and misunderstandings and everything... a sad/funny rom/com...

Hadden is a good hero. I liked him in the book before this one, but I really fell hard in this, his, story. Kennedy is so sweet and cute and loving and so self-conscious and still strong and she works to be independent. I like Harley and I can not wait for his story. I love revisiting with Ellie and Cruz and Levorne and Grey. The whole gang is here. The writing is well done, the character development is smooth and seemless. The writing flows easily. I love it.

This book was a pleasant surprise in that the first chapter made me wonder which direction this book was going to take. Then as I kept reading it took me on a pleasant ride with longing love, crazy first dates and a few laughs along the way. Each page I turned kept me engaged and wondering what would happen next. With all the build up of longing love I wish the main characters would have gotten together sooner. Would definitely read this series from beginning to end.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Hadden and Kennedy are perfect for each other. Over the years their attraction has not faded. His brother may have come between them before but now it is his chance. Hadden gives her a place to stay and that makes it hard to ignore their feelings. Kennedy was with the wrong brother for years. Their second chance gives them a happy future together
