I am teaching US History since 1877 next year for the first time in my 20 years as a middle school/high school teacher and have been hunting for some easy-to-read books, both for a refresher for me and for possible use with my students. I found this book an Amazon and starting reading it as soon as it arrived. The reading level is appropriate for middle school/early high school and the author does an excellent job of explaining topics and definitions without sounding too academic or esoteric. I like that it was published in 2021 so it includes very recent references (such as the murder of George Floyd) that my students will be able to relate to. It does a pretty good job of mentioning historical issues for all Americans (BIPOC, immigrants, women, LGBTQ, etc), although I was disappointed to not read any mention on Japanese internment camps in WWII. Overall, I highly recommend this book!
I lived through several of the chapters, and found it to be a great refresher to put thing in perspective and also to see how events interconnect with each other.
