Duncan Kincaid was thrilled to marry Cairo McKnight five years ago, but his adventurous spirit forced him to leave her the very next morning and he ended up in jail. Several months later, when he received the annulment papers he was heartbroken and devoted himself to his secretive mission. Cairo McKnight loved Duncan ever since she first met him, when she was a teenager. Being married to him, even for just one night was a life-changing experience…literally. She is a mom to the precocious little five year old boy, but she must decide whether Duncan has matured enough to handle the responsibilities of being a father.

This book is a cute story. There is a secondary romance between Cairo’s aunt and Duncan’s father that adds a different perspective on second-chance love. Overall the story is endearing, but a tad predictable. The author seems to rush through certain emotions and discussions, but as a whole the story is a fun, modern romance. Readers will enjoy taking the journey with Duncan and Cairo as they explore their past and uncover the secrets hidden within Montana’s land.

I didn't like this as much as I did 5 years ago (originally gave it 4 stars), but it was still charming and cute. I didn't like Cairo or her aunt though. Nor did I care for the "secret kid" trope. Why I continued reading was because I absolutely loved the adventuring/cave-crawling. I must of been an archaeologist in a past life because I find that stuff so fascinating. The romance was good too, a little cheesy at times, but good. Overall, it was a nice, easy and entertaining read.

Cairo McKnight is the only daughter of well known Egyptian archaeologists. When she was 15, 21 year old Duncan Kincaid began working for her parents. Mutually attracted, they behaved until she was 21 when he persuades her to elope to Vegas and then leaves for Egypt the next day. When he's jailed, pregnant Cairo gets an annulment. 5 years later she contacts him for help with their son and her company, but her persuades her to help him look for a lost Mayan gold city in Montana. They do manage to pull their relationship together by the end.

This was an OK read. Typical of the 'she has a baby he never knew about, with a rekindling of the flame.' They fight, he gets mad and it all turns out happy in the end. It's amazing as you read more and more how sometimes you just want to maul the character, well, you'll get that feeling in this book. You just wish sometimes they'd make better choices and things would work out oh-so-differently.

How I love happy endings! Especially when they involve married people! Or were once married...
