Praise for Saving GarlicI loved the ending. Very profound. – ChristineThis story was adorable. It made me crack up laughing several times. This one I can definitely see as being well suited for children or younger YA readers. It does touch on more serious and darker subjects, but it just barely skims the surface of it, so nothing would be inappropriate for a younger reader. I would have loved this book if I had read it as a kid. – NikkiThis book was so adorable. It was not what I was expecting… Great story. I love the idea. – ElisabethWhile playing hide-and-seek, a group of children stumble upon a strange man, covered in garments and rags from head to toe. The children soon realize that this oddly dressed stranger is no ordinary man, but someone who possesses incredible knowledge….The children are asked to help him navigate through their town without raising any suspicion and what’s even more unusual, they must help him without being told why. The group of children decide to vote whether they’ll provide aid to this mysterious stranger. Engaging and entertaining reading for teens that shows the invaluable act of overcoming prejudices and opening up to know others, especially those we perceive as different. Giving yourself the opportunity to meet and help others, can be a greater gift for those who give it than for those who receive it.
"Garlic", so named by a small child, because he is a vampire, tries to circumvent a town undetected to not cause any fights. He is old and tired of fighting for normal simple things. But then he comes across a group of children and young adults, who were playing on the outskirts of town. Almost immediately they take him under their protection, seeing him as a gentle soul. Thus, their adventure begins to smuggle Garlic from one end of town to the other under the nose of their parents and the authority. The story describes just this one day, but tells a wonderful story of seeing someone's soul, and not be pejudiced by things told to them. A lovely story and a great adventure told.

This was a unique story! I enjoyed the look into the world from a vampire’s point of view. I also enjoyed how accepting children are and how welcoming of curiosity Garlic was. This was a delight to read!
