Damn, I ended up rooting for the wrong guy and now I can't finish it. These rejected mate stories have too many twists for me 😭
What I read was nice though. The writing was a little fan fiction like, but the story set up was good.
Luna was the 20 year old heroine. She's a shifter and the alpha's daughter. What's unique and much appreciated about this book is that she was NOT a pitiable outcast in her pack, like most heroines in this genre tend to be. She's a reasonable, smart, easy to like character. She starts off a little immature, but she checks herself constantly and grows as the story goes on. I really like this type of character in a shifter romance, because it brings you right into a pack daily life without too much stress. This is a great setting.
I enjoyed all the mundane details of her life as well.
But.... I was under the assumption that her mate would be . They had a few tense interactions and I was waiting for the big boom when she finally noticed him as her mate.
He rejects her for his own reasons, and she is heartbroken, but it seems like the story is going in a different direction.
She will end up with instead. I like him too. But the thing is, he has been present for most of the novel and I just don't feel much chemistry between them. I wouldn't mind him being the endgame if only the chemistry was better. It needs to be top notch for this type of plot to work (aka both of them moving on from their mates to be with one another). There wasn't enough emotion in the writing to sell it.

Luna Rising is a shifter, rejected mates romance book. It is the first book in the series. It is also a part of The Seven Realms Saga and it can be read without reading any of the previous books. However, this book contains some spoilers to the Shadow Walker series, the first series in The Seven Realms Saga.
Luna is the Alpha’s daughter and next in line to be the Alpha of the Crescent Wolves pack. Her 21st birthday is approaching, it's the time when every Lycan may get a chance to meet their mate. But that is not something that Luna wants, she does not want a life that is already decided for her. She is a person who craves freedom and doesn’t like being held down. Even if she doesn’t want to be Alpha someday, she feels the need to help her pack and its residents. She actively participates in the daily proceedings of the pack, she fights for her pack and she also helps heal the wounded.
On the other side, a group of rogue Lycan attack the pack. It was said that most of the rogue Lycans were terminated and they were a thing of the past. But now they have resurfaced again and they are targeting the Crescent Wolves pack. Most say that they are here because they want to make an impact but no one's really sure what their real motive is. Why are they only attacking this specific pack? There is a possibility that these series of attacks may be happening because of something that happened in the past.
Luna didn't really like the idea of her mate finding birthday party. However for the sake of the pack, she complies and participates in her birthday party. Luna never wanted to find her mate this early, she never even imagined herself to be bonded to someone like that. Somehow she does find her mate and her mate rejects the bond. She did not expect that her mate would reject the bond. Bond rejection is unheard of. This rejection crumbled her, it was painful. Even though no one really understood what she was feeling, they gave her the support she needed. Her family and friends were there for her whenever she needed them.
Luna, herself is very strong, yes, her mate rejected her, she carries the weight of the bond. But does that stop her from being the person she was meant to be? No. She is Alpha born and she takes care of herself by taking care of her pack, by enjoying and spending time with her friends and family, by taking a cross country trip or just letting her wolf loose in the woods and running around, being free.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the familial bonds, how they all stick together and protect each other. The friendship shown here was really sweet.
Luna’s relationship with Maddox was really amazing. I liked how they knew each other so well and would never let the other get hurt. I wanted to feel some heat, some angst between them but I couldn’t. It just felt like their relationship was already made. The friends to lovers thing would’ve really worked if the build up was good. However, Luna doesn’t feel that way about Maddox and I feel sad because of it.
Overall this is a great beginning to an amazing action packed series. I am very eager to read what happens in the next book, the cliffhanger has definitely left me with a lot of questions for which I immediately want answers.

holy mother of incredible book ! this story is beyond captivating i was obsessed, luna gets rejected but she is an alpha born so she needs to move past this heart break but luckily she has an incredible support system, you follow her life you really get to know her she is smart strong and knows deep down she has to do what’s right even if it’s not exactly what she wants all the time. but the end of this book the cliffhanger is what makes you die and and say whyyyyy. and i need the second book now!! and a little bit of who do i need to sell my soul to read book 2 now ??!! this is a must read 100%

I would like to thank the author for the ARC, the plot sounded intriguing from the moment she described it and it didn’t disappoint.
𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a supernatural, rejected mates romance.
Luna is approaching her 21st birthday, which is the coming of age for the lycans, meaning it’s the time when they find their mate.
Daughter of the Alpha, she isn’t ready for the fate laid out to her. She wants to make her own decisions, she wants to see the world, to help people, and even though she loves her pack, she’s tired of everybody pushing her toward her fate.
But when her mate not only isn’t who everybody expected him to be, but he also rejected the mating bond, from not wanting a mate in the first place, Luna has to now deal with excruciating heartbreak.
I loved the characters in this book, especially Nova and Maddox, Luna couldn’t have asked for better friends.
Unfortunately this is only the first book, and Sloane must really hate us for ending it with that cliffhanger. When I saw that I had only 5% left in the book I was like.. oh she did us bad, this is gonna end on a cliffhanger.

Not good
Nothing happened. I’m all for books about shifters and rejected mates, but I was a long boring process. Then half way she gets rejected and then it’s just a pity party the rest of the book. Then nothing happens till literally the LAST page. Cliff hangar but not interested in continuing. Great writing just nothing interesting. Just one big pity party

If you like stories that...
The main character is so childish I was cringing the entire time. The language skills she uses makes me think she is around 14. If you like overplayed tropes and don’t mind annoying MC’s.. this book is for you.

I don't even know where to begin with this one. Every time I think that Sloane Murphy cant possibly suck me in anymore she proves me oh so wrong!
I knew going in that I was in for a MF rejected mates story that was *slightly* linked to another story line...that was it....didn't even know which story line it was linked to for sure....boy was I oh so pleasantly surprised!
Luna Rising was everything I didn't know I needed from Sloane Murphy. I mean really I have no words. Ya'll may hate me, but I'm not name dropping all the characters because there is nothing better than going in blind on this one.
I will say this....it is my favorite when authors write stories that not only bring back previous characters but also expand on some that you never thought would get their own story.
What you can know..... Luna is the main female character, and I love her. She is the perfect combination or young and naive, yet strong and independent. She is alpha born and approaching the age of finding her destined mate, much to her displeasure, all she wants to do is live free.
She has the BEST best friends of all time. Like for real! There are 2, a male and a female and the relationships she has with them both are everything. EVERYTHING!
When she is rejected by her mate it is devastating on so many levels for so many people and my heart broke for several of the people involved.
While Sloane tells us why her mate rejected her, and Luna is accepting of it, I am not. I personally feel Sloane is up for an epic challenge to redeem said mate, and even if she manages I'm not sure I can accept it. 🤷♀️ but.... that's just me. 😉
I'm totally secretly hoping she has something crazy up her sleeve that involves a serious twist of Fate because I'm all kinds of swooning for someone else 😉
Sloane, you know what I'm talking about and if that doesn't work out please for the love of books make it EPICALLY worth it.
The cliffhanger on this one is no joke and now I can't wait for the next book of this Duet.

This book sounded so intriguing, and while I was reading it I was really enjoying it. I didn’t realize how much I loved it, however, until I started crying when something bad happened, and then when I lost my mind over the ending! Seriously, that ending…I need the second book now!
This one follows Luna who is Alpha-born and approaching her 21st birthday. For Lycan, their 21st birthday is coming of age, and it’s the age when they can first find their mate. Luna’s parents push her into the traditions of the Lycan even though Luna has no desire to find her mate yet.
I really liked Luna’s character. She was easy to relate to, and being in her head felt realistic with her worries and fears. I liked how she struggled with her sense of duty to her pack, but also her own desire for independence, and I thought the author did an amazing job of showing these two things conflict.
I also liked Luna’s relationships with her best friends Nova and Maddox. Nova was spunky and driven, and Maddox was so freaking sweet and badass. Maddox and Luna had such an awesome friendship, and it was easy to see why their families hope they will be mates.
I liked the pacing of the book, and the balance between Luna’s everyday life and the intense moments of rogues attacking. It helped to make everything seem more realistic, and to develop the characters even more. I also found that the writing style was easy to follow, and it flowed nicely. I never felt bored while reading, and I loved seeing glimpses of other supernatural characters through Maddox’s family.
Overall, I completely loved this book and adored these characters. I’d recommend it to fans of new adult fantasy/paranormal stories.

Ok now into the review-!
Luna is a smart, beautiful independent woman who is the alpha’s daughter. On her 21st birthday she gets mates with someone who immediately rejects her - this hurts her wholeheartedly.. well that and she was hoping she would be mates to her best friend! But it seems like there’s a bigger story behind why both of these things happened!!
It’s a journey of self love, trust, independence and friendship.
I absolutely loved reading this book, I spent the day on the couch and smashed it out of the ball park!
I hate/love that it ended on a cliff hanger because I need more Luna & Maddox in my life ASAP.

Start of a hit shifter series
When I first picked up this book I was aware it was part of an existing world and was weary that I wouldn’t understand some of the history. This book is written in a way that I had no reason to be concerned. I’m quite picky with my paranormal books but this one was brilliant. Luna is a female main character that I love. I love her relationships with her family and best friends, she’s fierce and loyal, but also doesn’t want to follow the rules and traditions she’s bound to. I’m not going to spoil who the leading guy is, I did guess who it would be, but convinced myself that I was wrong!! I’m going back now to go through the linked series because I need it all.
This one doesn’t have any heat but I’m sure that it will turn up a few notches later in the books. It’s filled with banter between Luna and her besties and I can’t wait to find out what’s next considering the cliffhanger we’re left on at the end.

Luna is approaching her 21st birthday, the time when Lycans can find their mate. Luna however isnt impressed with the idea at all she wants to decide her own fate. With odd attacks against her pack and expectations coming from all sides it seems like she wont get much say in the matter. When her mates rejects her though she seizes the chance to make her own path in the ways she can.
I'm the first to say I like my romance dark and dirty, this really isn't that kinda read. Its slow burn with a dollop of angst but my lord I was hooked. There is something about Sloanes writing style which makes you loose hours like I wish I could loose weight and its a thoroughly pleasurable experience. This does end in a cliffhanger which left me with so so many questions and im dying for the next book!

Good read, with the return of characters from the Shadow Walker series. You don't need to read them, but it helps to have read them. I know I feel like I've missed something that sounds like it should be familiar in this book. And I've only read 3 of the SW series.
This was a book filled with a lot of potential romances for Luna and leaves you wondering... well, hoping it could be a why choose type. By the end of the book, I'm getting more of a battle of the heart type romance. Too bad...
No smut, smex, just some steam in book 1. Lots of action, battles, and coming of age...well alpha moments.

This was a new author for me and I was told that this story was M/F, had rejected mates, a slow burn romance, and lots of angst all of which are right up my alley! I really loved this book and am already stalking the internet for any information regarding the release date of book 2! 😂 I fell in love with Luna's character almost immediately as I could relate to her desire to do what calls to her as opposed to what's expected and to explore the world as much as she can. The sense of loyalty between Luna & Maddox's families was heartwarming and I will definitely be going back to read Remy's story so I can appreciate all of their appearances and interactions a little bit more! The love story has already hurt me so much, my heart was broken multiple times and not just for Luna! This story sucked me in a did not let go until the very end where I was immediately thrown off of a cliff that I have yet to recover from! I have so many questions and I need answers gah! Who are they? Why Luna? What do they want? What is their plan? I need to know what happens next and how all of it even got to this point in the first place! I have a feeling that this series will be one of my favorites and I need book two yesterday!

Such a great rejected mate series. Luna is the Alpha to be but doesn't want the role. She wants to travel and not succumb to the mate bond. After attacks on their pack and helping new members she starts to realize she want to remain and help her pack. Upon turning 21 she finds her mate who rejects her due to his past history and her she finds a strain in the relationship with her best friend who was hoping to be her mate. I loved that we get to see Remy and her guys children as adults and still get to see them as well. Cannot wait for the second book

This was my first book by Sloan Murphy & it definitely will not be my last. I will have to find time to read the other books in the Seven Realms Saga because I need to know the stories of the older generation.
I absolutely love Luna, she is such a strong character but still shows her young age, it made her very relatable. She also has an amazing relationship with her two closest friends.
After this ending I need to know what is going to happen yet, but I get the feeling there is a bit more going on then meets the eye.

Thrilling and full of feels
Excellent story with everything I've come to expect from this author. The world building is excellent and the character development is really amazing. Plenty of action and drama, a boat load of feels and a huge cliffhanger I did not see coming. Can't wait to read the second book of this set. Definitely recommend.

Luna Rising by Sloane Murphy is a rejected mate shifter romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Meg Price. This is the first book in The Shadow Legacies series.
This is the first book of Sloane's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. The book ends on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Alpha Bound to be released on audio so I can get more of Luna's story.
Meg did an amazing job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances, shifter romances, rejected mates, or supernatural suspense.

I really liked getting to know Luna. A girl who wants to see the world before being tied down but at the same time is learning what it means to be Alpha. During her 21st birthday party she finds her mate, only he rejects her. The heart wrench I felt when she ran upstairs after trying to stay strong, it is okay to cry. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Holy shit what is happening.
You know when a book just messes with your head so much you feel like you need a few days? Yea.. That's where I'm at. I feel so lucky to have been able to read this prior to release, it's just so fucking good.
My heart literally cannot take this book. I think I experienced every single friggen emotion possible reading this, Sloane totally smashed this release I just can't even cope.
I love this entire story and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here. I feel like you can sorta guess some threads but in saying that Sloane totally threw me off with so much of this story.
I don't want to ruin this with the story plot or give away any twists and turns but if your looking for an MF rejected mates then this is exactly what your looking for. It's emotional, gritty, dramatic, suspenseful and heartbreaking.

I instantly fell in love with Luna. Maddox and Nova are everything that a girl needs in her best friends.
Luna does not let the fact that she is the daughter of an alpha rule her life. She is a uch a strong independent female lead and I instantly fell in love with her. The fact that her relationships with Maddox (swoon) and Nova help ground her and keep her sane was perfect. The heartbreak that she goes through even knowing she didn’t want it to begin with is absolutely gut wrenching. But the fact that she takes that heartbreak and twists it into trying to find herself and power through it just shows how strong of a girl she actually is.
The emotions that you feel during this book is a rollercoaster in itself. It will leave you all but demanding to have the next book as soon as you read the last word.
All in all as usual fantastic read!

This book is amazing!
I loved all of the characters, especially Luna’s best friends Nova and Maddox. Luna is an awesome FMC, strong and independent. She struggles with not wanting to be the alpha and following her dreams instead. The plot was intriguing and full of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this to any PNR lovers and can’t wait for the next book!

Amazing start to a new series!
Wow, what an amazing start to this series! This book is filled with twists and all the emotions. It pulled me in and I couldn’t put it down till that last page. I am loving this world and the characters and I cannot wait till the next one! It’s a definite must read!

I cannot begin to describe how much LOVE I have for Luna. And Nova, and Maddox, and pretty much all the characters in this book 😍😂
Luna is the alpha daughter of Theron who was Roman's right hand man back in the Shadow Walkers Saga, and I can tell you now I didn't realise how much I needed this book until I read it!
Luna is strong, independent, sarcastic and sassy! She's a young wolf who's trying to find her place in a world very much run by alpha men (literally!) But I loved how she could hold her own, even through the gut wrenching scenes (seriously Sloane just carve my heart out 😭) she manages to pick herself up and carry on 🥰
And of course with the help of her best friends Maddox (who is so fucking precious) and Nova (who is every girl's perfect bestie)
The twists and turns, the highs and lows, the general feel of this book is INTENSE! It had me hooked on the edge of my seat biting my nails never knowing what was going to happen next.
And I suppose I should talk about her mate too.. now this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion BUT I'm rooting for this guy! Yes he needs to get his head out of his ass, but I'm a sucker for the moody broody mysterious tragic type, and that's exactly what he portrays!
The slow burn is written to perfection here, which just proves what an amazing writer Sloane is. The world and character building is EVERYTHING! 🖤

Oh my word! Sloan you are pure evil.I can’t believe you ended this book like that. This book has a great storyline and brilliant characters. I can’t wait to see where the storyline is going and what happens next. A fantastic performance from Meg.

wow! I loved this book, but I really wish I knew there were previous books in the overall story!
This is a fated mate/rejected mate/pnr about Luna and her coming of age at 21 and taking her place as alpha born wolf.
Her 2 bffs are instrumental to the storyline, and characters from previous books are mentioned throughout. you can easily follow along without having read those books, but I'm drawn to them and wanting to know more!
This is my first time listening to Meg Price, and she did a fantastic job narrating each character and giving them a voice.
My only issue with this book is that I want book 2 right away!! I have no patience for cliffhangers, but Sloane is a talented world builder, so I didn't mind the slow pace.
