I thought when I saw this and read the description that this was going to be a story about discovering little people through The Circle. But I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t. This is a short story about a boys journey through loss. He has just received word from the police that his father and pregnant mother were killed in a car crash and he has no motivation to live anymore. He meets a man that helps him through his pain and grief and feelings of anger. It’s very beautiful story and I think that those who have suffered loss might be able to look at this as the stages of grief to overcome and be able to learn how to deal with their own grief. I recommend this to anyone who needs help coping with loss. It’s a beautiful story and very relatable.

It is an interesting book, the different representations with animals, and the journey of the character to coping and dealing with loss. Quite a motivation book, in it's own ways, to teach us to find our inner strengths to pull through even the hardest of times, but it's not a tale that stuck to me strongly or made me think much about it. Would be nice if maybe more of the character's life was reviewed and how he found strength in them to overcome his grief and loss.
Narration by Brooks Corley is well done, it's very calming to listen to.
I wasn't quite sure what to make of this one. it's short and an interesting read that has somewhat the feel of Norse mythology (without the "bloody vikings") or North American First Nations stories with the animal spirits serving different roles and offering up different lessons to a young initiate. Definitely worth a look, but it left me more baffled than enlightened.
