Hat Trick

Rate this book
My hockey star boyfriend cheated on me with not one, but THREE puck bunnies. In. The. Same. Night.

Hat Trick, Motherpucker.

I was mad, okay? Furious. I gave up the career of my dreams for him and how did he repay me? I just wanted to make him hurt as much as he hurt me. So, I slept with a couple hockey stars of my own. From a rival team. Oops. The best cure for a broken heart is an orgasm.

Joni, Noah, and Hatch eased the sting of my cheating ex. It was the perfect rebound no-strings-attached arrangement. Now I’ve got three hockey players comparing sticks.

One is nothing but a hookup. One is a stage-five clinger. One is trying to get me fired from my new job.

And...H E double hockey sticks, one of them could possibly be the love of my life.

This is one Hat Trick to remember.

The heroine: Peyton Manning - despite her unfortunate name, Peyton is in the world of hockey not football. After quitting her job as a NHL Team Coordinator and moving to a different state with her boyfriend, she finds that he had a hat trick of girls at an away game and the video was posted for the world to see.

The Hero(es): Noah Heartland - Captain of the Dallas Stars Hockey team and does well with the Ladies.
Joni Kleason - has a brother that recently blew out his knee and can no longer play Hockey. Joni can hold a grudge.
Hatch Yavonovich - the goalie for the Dallas Stars, leading in the League. Hatch bought a house next to his sister and her son after his brother-in-law died in combat.

The story: After being cheated on by her philandering ex boyfriend Chad. Peyton decides she needs to get back in the game so to speak. She attends a NHL conference hoping to get a new Team Coordinator job, and while there she meets three different hot hockey gods from Dallas.

This is one story that kept me on my toes. I had no idea which of the men that Peyton would eventually fall for, but the journey finding out was a good one. I don’t want to give anything away but to say this book was steamy, hilarious and a puckload of fun.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

'HAT TRICK' Is a full length romance book co-written by Coralee June & Carrie Gray

I tiptoed into this not knowing what was going to come at me, with sports books it’s hard to come across ones that are unique where they don’t follow the same storyline like the others. This one was a breath of fresh air, utterly unique and unputdownable, I giggled so many times, and loved the quirkiness of our heroine!

The best type of revenge to get over a cheating NHL hockey player who fast became her ex, was to get creative with his much loved car, then throw in a few orgasms in a one night stand and Peyton is a woman on a quest to get her life back together on her terms and no one else's and it's a hilarious journey she took us on.

I'm not going to go into too much of the storyline because it's one of those where to best enjoy this book is to go in blind. It's not RH but the perfect light hearted summers read you could find.

4.5 clusterpucking fantastic stars

look, when I first started reading this book I was laughing my butt off, but I was also confused at where this romance was going for probably the majority of this book. however I feel the way these two authors wrote the romance in this story was incredibly real (albeit over the top and funny) while also being incredibly unique and smart. Yes I realize everyone hates when people say “this romance is smart”, because no romance is “dumb”, but this was done in such an incredibly thoughtful way while still being hilarious. I’ve only read one other book that handled the romance in this way, and I think Carrie and Coralee probably did a better job keeping me on the edge of my seat without making me rage-y. Triangles/squares can do that to me.

ANYWAY, all I really needed to say was that this book was funny and sweet and definitely a page turner. I am sort of obsessed with the way this duet does sports romance, and I hope they never ever ever stop.

Ok bye.

Uproariously funny, delightfully clever, trope defying, and deliciously sexy- Hat Trick is a heartfelt riot. This is everything I love about this hilarious writing duo!

By now you should know what to expect from a rom-com from this hysterical writing duo. Hat Trick has all the charms that make these two tops on my list of must-read rom com authors. It’s outlandishly funny and incredibly witty- a great marriage of situational humor, sharp one-liners, and amusing, quirky characters that somehow both entertain and beguile. And it is raunchy AF. This book is legit laugh out loud funny, spit out your drink and wipe tears from your eyes funny. But it also has a lot of heart. Beneath the sharp wit and the zany situations our sassy heroine and quirky hot jock find themselves in, Cora and Carrie deliver a really endearing, quite swoony love story- about finding love in the last place you expect it, embracing it’s imperfections, and how easily you can find yourself when you open your heart.

Like others I recommend going in blind- that is how this story is designed to be experienced. You aren’t supposed to know the romantic infrastructure- so just dive in head first and enjoy the wildly entertaining ride. Our amazing heroine Peyton is down-on-her-luck sports coordinator- on the rebound after her now-ex-boyfriend cheats on her in a quite humiliating (and forever immortalized) hat trick. While schmoozing for a new job, she ends up doing a bit of rebounding of her own- putting her in the path of hot hockey stars Noah, Hatch, and Joni. She has endearing and hilarious meet cutes with each- and immediate chemistry that she decides to explore, each with very different outcomes. But juggling three men is the least of her problems when she discovers her new job is with their team- and now she has to find out how to make her very non-professional bond with each guy fit into her new professional role. But the hook-up buddy, the clinger, and the trouble maker don’t make that easy.

The characters are just FANTASTIC. And while I don’t want to spoil, this is not a RH- but the path to getting to the HEA is very unique- and super steamy. Peyton is a heroine that you can’t help but root for and adore. She’s incredibly clever, sassy, and delightfully bold. She’s got a quirkiness and awkwardness that are so freaking endearing - and girl can’t help but speak her mind. But she’s also got a real vulnerability to her that captivates- beneath her bravado lies a wounded woman just trying to find herself and her place in the world. A woman trying to find respect in a profession dominated by men, and a woman trying to find authentic connection, a love that lets her be her truest self after a series of heartbreaks and missteps. Cora and Carrie do some REALLY brilliant things here when it comes to chemistry. Noah, Hatch, and Joni all have their own charms and charism, and their own flaws and downsides- each comedically ridiculous in their own ways. Peyton has a unique and meaningful connection with each of them- and C and C bring really intentional nuance to her relationships. Each helps Peyton heal parts of herself, but also discover parts of herself. She learns what she wants and needs- and surprisingly, it’s not at all what she’s been looking for, what she expects. But the men still have substance. And, while you love each of them, the way the story is constructed ensures you’re happy with how it ends up- while keeping all these characters perfectly themselves. Each has chemistry, but it evolves and refines in a strategic way, so whether your team “wins” or doesn’t, you’ll find the HEA deliciously perfect. (but my team won, just FYI)

But what I love most about this story is what I’ve come to expect from the brilliant mind of Coralee June and from the clever observations of Carrie Gray- and that is how this comedy breaks all the rules. Hat Trick subverts everything you expect about a rom-com or a romance in general. Sharing just how would ruin some of the fun- but you’ll know the moments when you read them. Somehow, these authors have captured the experience, the feelings, the swoony and sincere magic of a rom-com experience while also flipping the trope on its head. Each character, each moment is playing with the trope- finding a new way to tell a hilarious and flirty story. And that makes Hat Trick so much more than a feel goody, fun story- though it’s that too. Yet again- it’s about Cora and Carrie’s point of view- how they have the uncanny ability to show us the parts of love we sometimes don’t think of as “romantic,” that don’t play to trope- and showing us just how dreamy they are. And despite all the outlandish funnies, that means Hat Trick has a really relatable authenticity that warms the heart. It reminds us love doesn’t always start how you think, that it often comes where you least expect. How true romance is less about sweet nothings and flowers and more about the incredible feeling you have when you can just be yourself with someone so completely. How your worst experience is somehow better and more meaningful than your best with someone else. That’s fresh, that’s witty, and that’s real. And that’s what makes these two such a dream team.

Snatch Hat Trick up- it will not only leave you wheezing from laughter, but it will fill your heart with all the sweet and swoony butterflies.

This story was brilliant!

What better way to get over a guy than to get under another one, right? Well, what about three?

I was hooked from the first page where Peyton gave her cheating boyfriend's car a tune up.

This book was down right hilarious, and yet equally sexy and hot.

The fun part of this story is the reader isn't sure who she's going to pick until further in the story. (Sorry RH fans, this isn't going to be one of those.)

Please don't read the spoilers because I think the authors worked hard to make us wonder who the heck Peyton will end up with and to read the spoilers will mess it up. Just go in blind, trust the process and enjoy it!

This is the 3rd book I've read that these authors have co-written and I've loved each one! This duo has become 1-click authors for me!

Hat Trick is a full length sports romance novel by authors Coralee June and Carrie Gray. This story is packed with so much humor, heart and heat that you will be glued to the pages the whole way through. It is unique, unpredictable and unquestionably good!

When Peyton's boyfriend cheats on her in the most humiliating way, she decides it's time to get her life back together but not before getting her revenge. After getting creative with his beloved car, she leaves for an NHL conference in Chicago to network with the different teams. After landing a new job as the team coordinator for the Dallas Stars, she has to keep things strictly professional with the players. But this proves to be rather difficult when it comes to Noah, Hatch and Joni.

This book is, without a doubt, one of the best sports romance novels that I have ever read. The writing is excellent, the characters are endearing, and the story is just downright hilarious, steamy and OH. SO. GOOD! It's a guessing game as to who Peyton ends up with, so please be sure and go into this blind without reading any spoilers. Five stars for Peyton, Hat Trick, Coralee June and Carrie Gray!

The authors’ obvious lack of knowledge of hockey was apparent and honestly annoying and off-putting to anyone who is a hockey fan.

• There is no halftime in hockey. The game is played in three periods with intermissions in between.
• Players who lose in the Stanley Cup Final do not pose with the trophy. With or without their nieces. Hockey players are overly superstitious and won’t even get close to or touch the trophy without having won it.
• The timeline is confusing. Chad’s team won the championship a few weeks ago in Atlanta, which doesn’t have an NHL team. The hockey conference is in a couple of weeks. Two weeks after that and she starts the job in Dallas and is immediately planning travel to games? Shortest off season EVER!

Oh my pucking god! Hat Trick by Coralee June and Carrie Gray is absolutely, undoubtedly, unquestionably the most entertaining sports romance ever! The level of witty goodness in this story is crazy awesome! And so is the chemistry! The writing was superb and the whole story is hilarious and steamy and just ridiculously good. You won't be able to put it down even when you are crying from too much laughing or sweating from too much hotness.

Peyton has been cheated by his hockey player boyfriend with three puck bunnies. She lost her job, her home and her boyfriend in one clean sweep. And when she manages to get a new job with a new hockey team, she has to keep it professional. But that is proving to be difficult. Noah was the one night stand before she got the job and he is somewhere between flirt and friendship now. Hatch is the die hard romantic planning next decade of their lives. And Joni the bad boy ahole who is hell bent on ruining her life and taking away her job but their chemistry is off the charts hot!

First of all, it's not a reverse harem. It's just a series of some laugh out loud accidents those put three sexy and gorgeous hockey players in Peyton's life. This story is told from Peyton's pov and I have to tell you...THIS GIRL IS KICKING SOME SERIOUS ASSES! Oh I just love her sassy and sarcastic and fierce ways. She is too much fun. Too much fire. Too much smartness. Too much beauty. And I freaking loved every second of her inappropriate, straightforward and adorably awkward adventures. Noah is the mischievous guy who will make you smile and feel comfortable and also make your knees go weak with swoon. Peyton can depend on him. Hatch is a pure sweetheart. So sweet that he was making my teeth hurt. Peyton feels protected and cherished with this through and through nice guy. And my favourite was Joni. Ok so he is an ahole. Who will get medals for his cocky brooding hard personality. He was making Peytin crazy but she didn't back down from any challenge. They were battling it out and their chemistry was definitely the strongest. That fine salacious line between love and hate. Now the big question you want to ask...who is her Soulmate? My lips are sealed as you need to find it yourself because knowing it beforehand will ruin 90% fun. You need to fall for and feel for every guy and cheer for your own team. Now will you be disappointed or pleased? Only time will tell!

Hat Trick by Coralee June and Carrie Gray definitely had a bag of tricks. Saucy. Tangy. Overdose of fun and flirt. This is one of a kind sports romance and you cannot miss it for your dear reader life.

Tacky and the main character was awful

This book was bad, I wanted to just skip to the end because it was so awful. The main character had zero growth throughout the book. She had one rule don't fuck players and couldn't behave. I wish I could unread it.

Going into this book, I was really intrigued to see where this story would go. It started off strong and then just kind of went down hill for me. The heroine was awesome, I liked her but the plot was just kind of weird and all over the place. I felt like it was trying too hard to be funny and that just kind of turned me off. the story was sweet and short but by the end I just didn't really care.

I never read blurbs. So, I had no clue what I was walking into with this. USUALLY, I know who's going to end up with whom. But this time? No clue. I was cheering on Noah. Then Joni. Then Hatch. Then cringing at moments with each. And I LOVED THAT! For once, I had no idea what was happening and I was cool with it. Highly rec if you're into funny sports romances!

Uh oh, I picked a book with choosing. Admittedly I saw comedy and got excited. It was Goldilocks in hockey. Noah was good but taken, Hatch was too full on and Joni was a redemption story. I liked Noah, he was the joker of the three and his bets were entertaining. Hatch creeped me out. He was friendly enough and then it was bam. Wanting ten kids. Nope. Joni was the worst out of the three, trying to get Peyton fired. It was only realising the choices had dwindled and the brother, that made me tolerate him. I have no idea what was going on with Robert. It was nice to see everyone get their happy ending. Favourite character was Jared.

This was such a fun and sexy sports romance!

Peyton is hell-bent on getting back at her cheating boyfriend – not only did he humiliate her, she’s also lost her home and her job. Enter three hot hockey players – Noah, Hatch and Joni. All gorgeous but very different. Wowzers! The sparks flew, especially between her and Joni. Their chemistry sizzled off the page.

Peyton is a kickass heroine. I loved her snark and her sassiness. She was fiery, fun and intelligent. She got herself into plenty of scrapes and awkward situations. LOL. I thought she was pretty adorable, too. I loved all three guys but must admit I had a soft spot for Joni – who doesn’t love an infuriating a-hole, right?!

The authors keep you guessing as to which guy Peyton finally ends up with. However, the ride is super funny, hella hot, and just plain fabulous! Adore this writing duo and can’t wait for what they come up with next.

The dynamic duo known as Coralee June and Carrie Gray have done it again! Hat Trick had me laughing my pucking *ss off from the very first chapter. I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard reading a book.

I love sports romances and these two put a unique spin on things, making Hat Trick stand out from others. It took me a bit of time to decipher who the hero was. No, this isn't a reverse harem, but I fully enjoyed Peyton's relationship with each guy and how unique they all were. I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to spoil anything.

Peyton is an amazing heroine. She's strong and feisty. Intelligent and independent. She's adventurous and caring and absolutely hysterical.

Hat Trick is a fun, easy, hysterical read that you don't want to miss.

4.5 Motor Boating Stars

P.S.A- Do Not read this book at work or late at night next to your sleeping partner. People will know. You will laugh out loud. They will look at you like a crazy person!

Okay, I’m going to preface this by saying this is the first book by Coralee June and Carrie Gray, and I am dead. I laughed so hard and for so long I woke my husband up and then had to try and explain to him what was so funny while he gave me the stink eye. (See the P.S.A at the top) So needless to say if you want a book that will legit have you clutching your stomach from laughing so hard than this book is it.

Each of the guys in this book were so uniquely different but at the same time worked together perfectly. Hatch and Noah were beyond perfection, I melted each and every time they were in the book. I loved that you could feel the connection between Peyton and each of them, but in their own very singular ways. Joni was an enigma, I wanted to be mad at him and at times I was. But he has this charisma and physical presence that just can’t be ignored. The heat and tension was strong and could be felt burning from the pages whenever he and Peyton were together. I thought my kindle might actually burst into flames. And then as the story progress the way it did, it felt completely organic and natural. Nothing was forced it was just an easy progression in their relationships and it ended up exactly as it should.

I took a half a star off only because I had some unanswered questions at the end. Not enough to detract from the hilarity of the story and the flawless writing, but enough that I just really want to know these things LOL. Other than that this book hits the mark. I laughed, I swooned, I got angry on Peyton’s behalf, and ultimately I left the book satisfied. I will definitely be reading more books by this duo in the future.

This book is a riot! Recovering from a jerk of a cheating hockey player, Peyton is on the search for a new start. She gets it during a hockey conference and the chaos and laughs ensue.

Peyton is the impulsive, slightly crazy, hilarious kind of FMC I love. Her antics made me cheer and slightly cringe at times. But her confidence and loyalty when earned were wonderful traits to read. Her relationship with her BFF, Danielle, is gal pal goals. And her determination to keep all men as no strings attached was warranted, but laughable as she falls down the rabbit hole.

The men! Sigh. Playful Noah, sentimental good-guy Hatch, and grumpy, protective Joni were all delicious in their own rights. She only ends up with one and the back and forth between all three was so much fun as Peyton figures out what she wants.

The steam was both hot and funny at times, the pun game was strong, and the pace was perfect. I'll be going back to this one when I need something well done, but light. A palate cleanser, if you will. It's got that something that just makes it easy to fall into. Sports RomCom as it should be, for sure.

Hilarious, witty, fun and flirty, Hat Trick was another fantastic read from CoraLee June and Carrie Gray. I went into this story blind and will admit the first half took an unexpected turn as I wasn't sure where the authors would take us, but I loved every second of this wildly entertaining ride
The story was told from the FMC Peyton's POV and we felt everything she went through. All the characters in this story will catch your attention in one way or the other and I loved how much support the secondary characters provided and how they helped to move the story along. However it was the amount of comic relief all the characters added to the tale that will have you laughing out loud and will make this book one you will not want to put down.
Hat Trick was a well-written, light hearted read, that was filled with steamy scenes, revenge plots, friendship and so much more. It is not a RH but it was a romantic comedy/hockey sports romance with some drama included. Alpha hockey players, a sassy heroine and endless hilarious situations all made this a fantastic read and one that I would highly recommend.

This is a bit of a rollercoaster when it comes to Peyton's love life. After her boyfriend cheats on her, she rebounds with two hockey players from another team, flirts with a third, then becomes the team manager. I will say that I was expecting Peyton to end up with a different guy than the one she did and I wasn't a huge fan of how it all played out.

I can't really identify with women who lust after a man to the point that she constantly zones out or makes a fool of herself in his presence. I understand being flustered, but Peyton was so into these men that she says things like "I held in a moan" just because her hand brushed his chest. How do these women function if they're constantly thinking about sex and even casual contact make them almost orgasm? Is this a real thing??

There were some funny and cute parts to this. I did enjoy watching Peyton succeed at her job, she's pretty good at organizing chaos. I also liked her best friend and the way she supported Peyton no matter what, even letting her live with her and her family. Women being there for each other makes me happy.

One of the steamiest, most hilarious romantic comedies I have ever read! These two authors have proven that they can write so seamlessly that you can’t even begin to guess where one starts and the other ends. Their vibe is just so perfect-the way they really morph into the characters (both of them Bc I seriously can’t guess??) and remain on the same page is just so mind boggling-talent at its finest.
Peyton was SUCH an amazing character. She embraced every decision she made, and rode with it. Sometimes it got her into sticky situations, but her quick wit, charm, and ability to do her job just aided into keeping her on the right track.
Though this seems like it will be a RH-it’s not. It’s easy to fall in love with so many of the male main characters, that I really couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know what was going to happen, and needed the quirky laughs in the process. A must read!

Loved it!!!

These authors together come up with some of the best books I've read! From the very beginning of this book I was laughing and all the way through. We start of with Payton getting revenge on her ex who cheated on her after giving up her perfect job and moving to be with him. From that moment on she goes on her own adventure of sorts and boy does she has some crazy moments that had me laughing outloud!!! I loved all of the people we meet along the way and how we are introduced to them couldn't of gotten any better! It was so great to see Payton get her life back together in the end and honestly would love reading more about these characters.

Okay, full disclosure, this was not at all what I expected. You don't really find out the male love interest until maybe 40% in which isn't a bad thing but Was confusing for me because I loved them all😅

I really enjoy Peyton as a main character. She is a strong female lead that doesn't take crap from anyone which is nice. I hated Robert Park. He was sexist from the very first introduction and was all around terrible.

I love Noah. He is the comic relief every book needs and his bets are SPECTACULAR.

Hatch is swoon worthy and you love him immediately.

Joni is.... Joni. Honestly the first few interactions required a LOT of deep breaths to get over the secondhand embarrassment for Peyton🙈

I FLOVED Jared and Beth as well as Danielle and Brock. They are the true MVPs of side characters. The gynecology stories had me dying 🤣

Hat Trick was an ok read for me. I get that it’s appeal stems from the uncertainty regarding the romance in the book. The heroine goes through her own sexual revolution and lives it up, with so many available options, I was unsure who the “hero” would end being. Unfortunately I didn’t love the concept and found the heroine to be very immature. Not only that but she has some seriously bad taste in men. It pissed me off she doesn’t even try to hide her liaisons. While I’m all for female empowerment and owning your sexuality, it’s a whole other story when someone’s job (ie. the heroine’s) is on the line. It’s like she completely disregarded even trying to be discreet and I hated that for her especially as it was clear her boss was misogynistic and would never even listen to her side of the story. Didn’t help the men only stood up for her occasionally. Then in the end she sort of wraps up her career in the industry as if it’s not what she spent the entire book working for. 🤷🏼‍♀️
