She's defending one man, but thousands of lives could be riding on the case's outcome. No pressure.
In the second installment of the Cadence Elliott series, a tech entrepreneur is murdered and Cadence steps in to defend the accused.
Her client is a homeless man named Brandon Colter who can't seem to help incriminating himself. The cops have him right where they want him, thanks to a signed confession.
He tells Cadence he's innocent, but she doesn't know what to believe. But she refuses to let Brandon become fodder for a ruthless justice system.
Throwing herself into the case, Cadence explores angles that the police won't consider. But in her hunt for alternative suspects, she is presented with a wild conspiracy theory. If it's true, thousands of lives depend on her. If it's false, she faces complete humiliation in the courtroom.
The more Cadence strives to prove Colter's innocence, the more powerful and sinister the forces opposing her become.
To clear his name, she needs to put everything on the line, including her own life.
Will she survive to deliver true justice and reveal the shocking truth?

If you like heart-thumping thrillers with vivid characters, sharp dialogue, twists and turns, intrigue and riveting courtroom drama, then this book is for you.
JJ Miller's "Force of Justice" is an Amazon bestseller (Pulp Thrillers). JJ aims to write the kind of thrillers he likes to read: ones that grab you by the collar from page one and never let go. He lives with his wife and three kids, and two cats.
This is a wonderful series, so far. I can’t wait for the next book! The best thing about a legal series, it is endless. As long as the author has the imagination, the series can be unlimited. I definitely hope this is one of those series. Cadence, is trying to defend a young man who has been falsely accused of murder. This is just one of her mini difficulties in this book. Her quest is continued, trying to find her son. If you want to know what happened to her son, you need to read the first book of the series.
Exciting, a few stories involving the different characters
I liked the characters, cadence, Bob, even the accused killer. JJ Miller is always worthy of my time. Can’t wait for the next book. Read them all so far
As a former litigation attorney, I found this to be largely accurate about trial procedure . There are a few procedural shortcuts apparently necessary to move the story. The story itself was compelling.
This was the second novel in the series and was every bit enjoyable as the first read. Every category was as enjoyable as the first read. The book was difficult to put down and the plot was riveting. A surefire five star read.
4.0-4.5 stars. It was 4 stars for the most part, but that ending added just enough to bump it to 4.5 stars. This book moves along at a nice clip. Finished it quickly. Good legal drama with an element of suspense coming at Cadence from two different directions. This was a great follow-up to book one. The author gives us just enough of a hook at the end that readers can't help but 1-click book 3. 😉 Nice job!
I've read all of J.J. Miller's books and have never been disappointed! The stories are well written and page turners to say the least. I The Lawyers Truth is the second book in the series and I'm hoping that book number 3 is in the works! I've also read his series of books featuring Attorney Brad Madison. Also great stories and books you can't put down! Thank you Mr. Miller!
i couldn’t put book down. murder , miss dead’s, entrapment, just continue to read

The Lawyer’s Truth by J. J. Miller 1/2/2023 Kindle
Cadence Elliot is successful attorney in a prestigious in this second book in this series. Her firm allows her to work pro bono to defend a homeless man, Brandon Colter who has signed a confession to a murder he doesn’t remember. While she doesn’t entirely believe in his innocence, she has problems with the aggressive justice system her client was incapable of fighting. The police felt from the beginning they had a rock solid case so little investigation of alternative answers was never pursued. Now, that’s the avenue Cadence begins to explore. In spite of strange possibilities, she doggedly continues her hunt.
This was an interesting read, with well-drawn characters and a strong story line. I’ll continue to follow this series and recommend it to others.
I read the first book in this series, which I really enjoyed, so of course I had to read the second! Cadence is a breath of fresh air. Her personality is a perfect mixture of humility, confidence, compassion, and intelligence. The author did a great job of bringing the main characters to life, and keeping the number of supporting cast manageable so that the story was easy to follow. I'm going to go check out this authors other series now!
This book was awesome. The author understands the Legal system, the relationship between the Police, the District Attorney, the Judge and finally the Prison System. A homeless Black man is railroaded into confessing to a murder he didn't commit. Great storyline and very interesting Ending
Enjoyable read. Scene descriptions get a little over the top. Or should I say the words creeping up the page sometimes seemed to burst forth in a rainbow of colors to tease the reader creating bouquets of suspicion mixed with a plethora of suspense to palpate the readers senses. Get through all that and its a great and thought provoking read.
Finally, a lady hero who is smart, beautiful and interesting. The plot is complicated enough to keep me wondering about which way the verdict would go and how that would keep Cadence alive. My interest was peeked at the beginning of this series since a good friend of mine is named Cadence.
The Lawyer’s Truth is an amazing suspense to be enjoyed.
This book held my heart from the beginning. A homeless man accused of a brutal murder is rescued by a half sibling and an attorney with heart in her work. Definitely created by a wonderful writer’s vision of justice. Thank you
This is the first book of this author that I read. Very interesting and compelling story that is set in DC and intertwines legal and human drama. Eager to read the next one in this (Cadence Elliott) series. The book has a few errors and would be aided by an editorial cleanup.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I am a fan of a good story line as well as a focus on court room drama. This book flows through like a good wine (even if i don't drink). No over flowery descriptions just a focus on the story line driving to a conclusion. Court room drama was drawn out leaving the reader anxious to focus on the results and finalize your expectations. The author kept us focused on the end results.
A good story well written, kept you interested throughout, I felt the courtroom ending seemed a little rushed meaning the final verdict was very sudden but apart from that very enjoyable read.
Extraordinary plot; solid characters; strong narrative. Weakly, unlikely dialogue from Cadence too often kept that Fifth Star from aligning however. The next in the series is eagerly awaited!
Rookie lawyer, takes on defence of homeless man. As lawyer Cadence, and investigator Bob search for evidence, the victim’s company and employees give reader an interesting side view of corporate America.
Great read easy to follow just enough detail so you don't get bored. Great to read a book that is full of sexual innuendo. Good job, hope there's another Candence book soon
For the most part, fairly predictable, but still quite entertaining Great Beach read. I look forward to hearing the conclusion of Cadence’ssearch for her son.
Lawyer's Truth was a easy book to read. However I was looking for everything to come out in court, like who really killed Owen. But thinking about it more, I began to understand " reasonable doubt "
Not bad, but nothing special. The most interesting part was Cadence’s attempt to find the son she involuntarily gave up. I couldn’t really get involved with the homeless man, who just never seemed real to me, a major problem. Still mostly kept my interest.
I enjoyed this book but I enjoyed his first one more. Seems like there were too many characters to keep track off. I felt the courtroom dialogue wasn't as good as the first either but overall was worth reading
Cadence defends a homeless man accused of killing while breaking in a man’s apartment. Tight courtroom drama. Fast paced story so hard to put down. We want more of the Cadence Elliot story
