Odessa Hywell is a taboo MM romance author with a book addiction and coffee problem, who lives in the Southern United States with her husband, their teenage daughter, who mocks her for being short, and way too many animals.

Aside from writing and reading, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing video games.

Her favorite season is winter—hello, snow—but in the summer, she travels as much as possible.

Some of her favorite spots are The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Dead Horse Point, Moab UT, Gatlinburg TN, Helen GA, Silverton CO, Roswell, NM—plus honestly, a lot more. The list is nearly endless.

A few places she plans to go in the future are New Orleans, LA and Salem, MA during spooky season, Smuggler's Notch, VT during autumn, the Colorado Mountains during the winter, New York City, Washington DC, a cruise to anywhere, on a hot air balloon ride, on a train trip down the California Coast . . .

In 2021, she decided because she is married to a twin it was best NOT to publish her books featuring twincest and other questionable themes under her married name as her husband would not approve.

I'm a bit torn about the rating. I liked it, but I was a little disturbed by the plot?
In terms of smutt factor, it's perfect, just Odessa Hywell. It's soooo taboo and yet so good, filthy and hot.
I liked how Eren can't help but fall in love with his father, how Atwood takes such wonderful care of Eren.

His cock was practically raw at this point. And it would only take Atwood calling his name in his deep, smooth voice to have it perking up again. One day, he was going to come in his pants because Atwood brushed against him at the wrong time. 🔥🔥🔥

I liked how Eren very slowly sneaks under Atwood's skin, how he manipulates him bit by bit. Then when they have sex ... wow, beyond words. 🥵🥵🥵 ... the s-and-f thing, well still trying to get my head into it ... 🤤🙈🤤

I didn't like Atwood being so stupid and not realizing who Eren is...that was just too frustrating and not portrayed well.

Well and then bring on the drama ...
The first part of the duet ends rather stupidly, but ok, at least not in a mega-cliffhanger or something.
You can buy both parts on smashwords in one, so no big deal ...

Sweet and hot father & son taboo.
⇢ review for both parts

“Sometimes . . . I know it’s twisted,” Eren said, his voice cracking. “I shouldn’t want you as both—my boyfriend and my dad. But—”

“Listen to me. Okay?” […] “It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks anymore. I am whatever you want or need me to be, Eren,” Atwood said as he laced their fingers together. “My only wish, since the day you were born, has been for you to be happy and healthy and well taken care of. It doesn’t matter how you think of me—boyfriend, daddy, dad—I’m here. I’m here for it all, Eren, for as long as you want or need me.”

***I received an eArc from the author in exchange for an honest review.***

This was a delicious taboo treat that I completely devoured in one sitting. I loved the intense instant connection between Atwood and Eren that was naturally developed throughout the course of this novella. I anxiously await the final chapter in this addictive duet.

I love how Odessa Hywell creates characters with complex dynamics that immediately draw the reader in and feel consumed by the nature of the story.

“My only wish, since the day you were born, has been for you to be happy and healthy and well taken care of. It doesn’t matter how you think of me—boyfriend, daddy, dad—I’m here. I’m here for it all, Eren, for as long as you want or need me.”

This was another sweet taboo incest story from Odessa. Honestly, I love how they are able to write such sweet, emotional and steamy incest stories.

We have Eren (23), who is alone after losing his adoptive parents and leaving his abusive boyfriend. He's homeless and lonely and seeks out his birth parents, hoping to reconnect with them. However, when he finds his birth mother, things don't go so well once she realizes he is gay but gives him his birth father's information. He finds him but initially keeps his identity a secret as he realizes his feelings for him are anything but fatherly.

"Sometimes . . . I know it’s twisted,” Eren said, his voice cracking. “I shouldn’t want you as both—my boyfriend and my dad"

Atwood (40) had a son when he was a teenager after an alcohol-fueled one-night stand that he may or may not have fully consented to. While he wanted to keep his son, since he was in the foster care system himself with no stability in his life, he decided to put his son up for adoption so he would have a better chance at life. However, he hasn't ever forgotten him and honours his birthday every year with a cake. He's scared to seek him out but hopes he is doing well.

I really enjoyed this duet. It had a lot of things I've come to adore about Odessa's writing and storytelling, so it worked for me. It was super sexy and I enjoyed the bit of angst. Because let's be real, nothing about a father/Son relationship will be straightforward. It takes Atwood time to come to terms with his feelings towards his son and the guilt, so be warned, the first book does end on a cliffhanger.

"Atwood could be the dad he’d always wanted to be when necessary, without feeling ashamed about the other aspects of their relationship. And Eren could be Atwood’s son when it suited him."

I liked how needy Eren was and literally soaked up the praise from Atwood. He was starved for affection, and his father was ready to provide it. The possessiveness between them was also lovely. The whole "good boy, my baby boy"...loved it.

While these types of stories can fall into the side of pure smut, Odessa balances it well, the sex, emotions, and plot. Not to mention these are some level 5 spicy scenes. We also get public sex, voyeurism, and exhibitionism in the second book. Speaking of public sex, Bennett and Cooper (Twisted Together ) make a cameo! Let's say there's a particular scene that was very, very nice.

There was one sex scene that I had a very hard time picturing because some crazy contortions had to be happening.

Overall I enjoyed it. It was a fun, sweet and steamy Father/Son taboo read. If you have enjoyed Odessa's stories in the past, you will definitely like this one too.

Note: This review is for both books in the duet since I read the combined Morally Ambiguous Duet version.

This was handled fairly well, there were some really thought out, poignant points that were made. I’m glad there’s a second part because this wasn’t nearly enough

Not that it’s not worthwhile or super kind of him but Atwood is cracking me up with his concern for allergens. He’s like the busiest helicopter mom at the playground.

So, I’m a big fan of consent. Like as long as you get consent the world is your oyster be it degradation, physical abuse, rape … cool. And even though I can let those lines blur occasionally into the world of dub-con and even more rarely non-con … this is fucked up of Eren.

There is something to be said about sex with older men, they tend to know a thing or two and are a cut above the rest … just saying.

It also helps that Atwood is apparently very flexible.

Pretty heartbreaking when the reality of the situation comes to slap you in the face. It wasn’t just a one night stand situation, there was real affection, not just animalistic passion that led to what they did.

Dammit Eren, he guts me. He’s far too sweet and fragile for this world.

Quotes:

“Nothing fired people up like Jesus and Thin Mints.”

“You did so well, Eren—so good for me. I’m so proud of you for telling me what you wanted, letting me give you what you needed. Such a good boy.”-🌶🔥🥵

“He was proud of himself for keeping his tone polite. He wanted to rip into her—the way she had him when he’d told her he was still gay, gay as a unicorn cumming rainbows and multicolored marshmallows, shortly after the one and only night they’d gotten drunk and slept together.”

“It’s not like you’re going to accidentally get me pregnant so who would it really hurt?”-Right?! I think this every time it’s an MM taboo

THIS BOOK WAS SO HOT,SMUTTY, FLITTY AND FORBIDDEN IN SO MANY WAYS !!! But it was also sweet and warming, I just loved it🩷
Atwood and Eren were so beautiful together, it was so wrong but it felt so right😩.
I really enjoyed , how Eren slowly gets under Atwood skin, how he push and manipulated him a little bit.
Also the sex scenes between them was so unbelievably hot🫠🔥
The only thing what disappointed me was the plot? Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t BAD but I expected something else.
I enjoyed this book so much and maybe just maybe I should be ashamed for this, but I’m not, because it was exactly was my little naughty heart desired🤭.

* I'm putting my taboo reads on an additional shelf. This is the duet that's been re-read by me many times over and I cannot recommend it enough.

Original review on 25th Oct 2022

This taboo romance is about a father that had his kid when he was 17 and he couldn't keep it, but that said kid comes crashing into his life about 20 years later and becomes his lover.

🔴 Taboo - Father/Son
🟢 Age gap - 23 years
🔵 Meeting for the first time in their lives
🟣 Instant attraction/connection
🟡 Finding out they're related after sex
🌶️ Great sex; t/b

Atwell, even though he was gay, had sex with a girl at 17 when he was drunk and she got pregnant. She didn't want the baby and even though Atwell wanted it, he had to give Eren up for adoption and after that Atwell had a pretty difficult life.

At present time Atwell's 40 years old, a restaurant owner and has his own home.
Eren, who is 23, left his abusive boyfriend and decided to seek out his biological parents, since his adoptive parents died and he basically had noone left. That left Eren knocking on Atwell's door, broken, homeless and hungry. Keep in mind that Eren knows Atwell is his father, but Atwell has no idea.

They have an immediate connection. Atwell offers Eren a room to stay, they become fast friends and one particular night they have amazing, amazing sex.

Eren is very attracted to Atwell, even though he knows Atwell is his father, but after that night, Eren comes clean and tells Atwell the truth. Atwell's brokenhearted, they both are, but even so, they can't deny the pull. Ultimately they decide to stay friends and continue living together and that's where the first part of their story ends.

It was a short, interesting, steamy, yet warming story.
To plead their case, Atwell and Eren didn't know each other their whole lives, they could have met outside and got together, they had absolutely no familial attachment.

It continues in the 2nd part of this duet, where Eren and Atwell do decide to get together after all.

I always thought that father/son taboo romances are hard to pull off. Twincest or brother/brother relationships are way easier to — I don’t know — believe in my opinion.
(Not sure if “believe” is the right word here but I’ll roll with it for the moment.)

Anyways, to get to my point; I am definitely not sure if it worked in this case. The sex was super hot, so that’s a big plus, but I’m a bit on the fence on how much I think the father/son situation is working out. And with this ending — man, it’s hard to say how I’ll like this duet in the end.

I’ll leave my rating and review like this for the moment and maybe I’ll come back to it after I’ve read the second book.

This was a cute, hot read. Pretty much exactly as I expect to get when I read Hywell! I liked the touch about shared food allergies.

The birthday thing was adorable.

Their connection felt a bit rushed to me, but it is a short. And I haven't read the next one yet, so maybe I'm being hasty. Still really enjoyed it!

Estuvo bastante bien. Me gusto como lo desarrollo, pese a que sentí innecesario que lo dividiera en dos.

No es algo que no haya leído antes, pero llena mucho mi gusto culposo por los temas tabú. Sin duda seguiré leyendo a la autora.

This is one of those if I die delete my Kindle history type of books 🫣

...with that being said I will be reading part two immediately 🤣

I think I would like the concept of this better if neither of them knew about their shared relationship until the end of this one. Eren knowing the whole time and still being into it freaked me out (obviously 😅).

But also Atwood not putting two and two together was so unrealistic it was laughable. Like this random guy shows up at your door that is the same exact age and has the same birthday as the son you put up for adoption and you think "hmm...weird coincidence"???

Overall though a quick pallette cleanser between reads, and as I said I will read the second half because I've come this far might as well see how it plays out (even though I know it won't be a wholesome let's play catch son scene 🤣)

What makes someone a father vs a progenitor? Solely or their presence in their life?

No matter which way you swing this, this is a deliciously taboo story from Odessa.

I will say I was not terribly thrilled that Eren went into this eyes wide open but Atwood had no idea until after. That felt wrong to me, especially considering how he describes Eren being conceived. But not enough for me to dock it stars.

I’m glad this is a duet, because this ends as a HFN.

sooo this is my first time reading a book by this author and i wasn't particularly impressed. i found the writing underdeveloped and dry. most of the time it felt like i was reading a string of actions (some of which were repeated 3778 times) with some introspection sprinkled here and there. there were moments where the author attempted a bit of a more flowery tone, but it came across as inconsistent with the overall style of the writing.

that being said, the story did keep me engaged, especially when the truth about their relationship is revealed. i liked eren the most, he was so sweet and eager, i connected with his emotions. atwood on the other hand felt flat as a character. he was just... there. he just sort of existed without much depth (granted, i don't really expect THAT much depth from novellas of this sort, but still). i also feel like we should have seen more of his connection with erin as a baby. we should have seen him think more about him, for example. at first i genuinely thought he didn't even know he had a son at all, but then later in the book we're suddenly told he had tried raising him all by himself for a while and that he celebrates his birthday every year... it felt pretty out of the blue, to me.

so overall... 3 stars but it's more like... 2.5, if i gotta be honest

This was an awesome read. Not gonna lie, it was a bit angsty for me but the writing was so well done that I was able to hang in there.

There is no spoiling what this book is about, a son goes to find his Dad and things happen. And these things that happen are happening organically. So totally believable that I was cheering for a HEA for them.

I did not like the portrayal of the birth mother, but it does explain how Dad became a Dad to begin with.

However, I knew that this was a two parter because I already bought the second book, but this ends

Morally Ambiguous
(Confessions of the Son)
Odessa Hywell

Loved this first book in a (now completed) duet.
I loved that although this story is about a taboo relationship between a biological father and son, the author has made the tale very authentic. This is not smut. This is, in fact a really deeply profound tale.
This book is sooo well written and the author has managed to capture all the emotion and angst that might occur if this was real life.
Smooth, quick reading which had my attention from the first line to the last.
Very well done!
°although the description states this can be a standalone, it does end on a cliffy-like note which urges the reader to snatch up the sequel with no holds barred! You will absolutely WANT to follow through to see how the story concludes.
Five stars!
Highly recommended!

Continuing with my taboo reads, this one was short, but that was what I was after.

I liked both characters and they were hot together.

Even though this clearly is a taboo relationship, due to the son being raised by a different family since he was a couple of weeks old, it doesn't feel as twisted as Secrets & Lies which I read last year.

So, maybe if you want something incestuous but on the lighter side, this might be a good pick.

Super good...ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger - but a happy one (if that makes sense). Definitely a taboo book - blood related father and son...although said father, Atwood, had Eren when he was 17 and didn't raise him. I'm hoping Transgressions of the Father wraps this little story up nicely....

"Not just the fact that Atwood was his biological father but...other things too—like the way Eren felt around him. Not just safe and happy but...horny. The fact was, he had a giant, inappropriate crush on his own father.”

“Hello, my name is Eren Sulliven and I want my father—yes, you heard me correctly, my biological dad—to bend me over the nearest surface and stuff me full of his cock.”

The writing is great but Eren is really giving me the ick about how he manipulated Atwood and proceeded to beg afterwards to continue their relationship while still trying to manipulate him with tears??? After what he knowingly did to Atwood???????? The AUDACITY. 😭 Also, Atwood is too fucking nice. Like, sir, maybe you want to consider being furious and maybe both of you should spend some time apart to really think things through. I guess not. 💀 The consent by lack of information makes me sick to my stomach so I’m not sure if I want to continue to the second book. I want to root for the both of them, but Eren makes it really hard to do so.

Sweet and steamy
Honestly, I wasn't sure how I felt about reading a taboo father/son book. But Odessa Hywell has won me over!
Your heart just has to go out to Atwood and Eren for all that they have both gone through. And when they finally meet, they can't fight the attraction they feel for one another.
Although I know there is a companion book to this one, the ending to this one was satisfying enough that it could be read as a standalone. Angstometer was actually low on this one (which I prefer) and there is a satisfying HFN. A perfect short read!

Atwood and Eren were so beautiful together. Atwood always wondered about the son he gave up for adoption..hoping he was taken care of and loved as he grew up. Eren seeks out Atwood when he feels he has no other place to go and is amazed at how incredible he is. He is caring and accepting and makes Eren feel things that he shouldn't be feeling. The way these two work around their budding feelings is a story you don't want to miss. I look forward to the next book.

Atwood and Eren's story was so sweet and hot. If you want the squirmy butterfly feels from reading a relationship that you know should be uncomfortable because it is so wrong but just works then Morally Ambiguous: Confessions of the Son hits the spot. Eren surprises birth dad Atwood and they struggle to make a new relationship while fighting feelings they know they shouldn't have. I can't wait for book two and more from this author.

Yes, I know it's only the first part, but even so there was not enough substance here to qualify as a decent taboo short story (pun intended), erotica or romance. Too short. It may have scrapped 3 stars without the weak ending and the cowardly workaround handling the taboo

This is a review for the Morally Ambiguous Duet (combined book 1 and 2)

Atwood (40) and Eren (23) omggg, so cute and sweet and hot.

The first half was sweet while the latter half of this was so hot at he resort. I'm glad there was no discovery or backlash scene of anyone finding out their relations, and I'm glad they were able to make great friends with Cooper and Bennett.

That whole resort, all the public sex and tension and that shower scene, wowwww! I need more books of this couple and maybe all the other couples in Odessa's backlist to come to this resort lol

Giving up his son for adoption, Atwood always celebrated him even though he was not with him.
When circumstances forced Eren to seek out his birth parents, he didn’t expect to be drawn to Atwood on such a deeper level.
The bond they form is one closer than father and son and the passion they share is scorching.

A taboo read that is absolute indulgence.
I loved seeing these characters connect and grow their relationship on many levels.
Do heed the triggers though.
