Boss's Pretend Wife

Rate this book
First rule of a fake marriage?
Don’t get knocked up.

When my chiseled-by-God boss calls me to his office,
I think I’m about to get fired.
But instead, CEO Bryce Hollis proposes.
Marry him for six months,
Fix his playboy reputation so he won't lose his company,
And collect a giant bag of cash.

I’m game. How hard could it be?
Answer: very.
Because from the moment he kisses me at our fake wedding,
I know my V-card won’t last long.
Neither will the wall I built around my heart.

When two pink lines show up on the pregnancy test stick,
I’m toast.
Because I want more than just pretend from Bryce.
I want him to love me -- and our baby -- for real.

Rule number two?
Never, ever, fall for your fake husband.

Boss’s Pretend Wife is a standalone, full-length romance packed with heart and heat! You’ll fall in love with this wounded, bad boy hero and the only woman who can tame him. The HEA will put a smile on your face!

No cheating or cliffhangers. Enjoy!

I can’t stop myself one clicking when I spot a marriage of convenience story and this has something about a baby (didn’t get that far) plus he’s her boss as well. I wasn’t feeling it though. I was picking holes in the plot, the dialogue, the details…I wasn’t buying it.
Available on ku. Not for me.

This was a cute quick read I liked how you got to see Cora’s struggles with taking care of her mom and just the emotional side to Cora in that aspect. The only thing that I would have liked differently is that the MMC groveled a lot more!! I feel like he didn’t at all. He pretty much just told her he was sorry and he loved her and she immediately forgave him umm… what?! And I find it a little bit unbelievable that they both got over there dad and mom issues that quickly. Honestly, they both need to go to therapy for that.

But I did like the fake dating trope in this

I don't understand how's this book's rating to over 4.3, after I read it's just meh for me.

It's fine from the 1 - 4 chapter, but after that, all keep me off the book.

I can't feel any connection and deep feeling with the book. I just keep many questions when I read, what? when? how? 🥴🥺

The hero is a playboy
His father what him to settle down to keep his reputation to save the company.
So, he plans to get a false married to the new intern - heroine.
The heroine accepts his proposal because she is out of hand to save her finance due to her mother being sick. - the damsel in distress. I love damsel in distress heroien. but...
The story is fine, but the story-telling is the problem to pull me away from the character.

The meeting of the family - the heroine's mother is sick, a patient who is recovering from cancer. Due to this reason, the heroine's mother is unable to eat the food with rich flavor. Ha.. the hero keeps going back to the kitchen to request additional light food for her mother. What?! How's is this possible you background check the heroine but never know about this? ok, maybe he is not powerful and resourceful.

This arrangement suppose is all in business. They both understand quite clear.
Then suddenly the scene turns to the wedding. Suddenly heroine has all 'love eyes' on hero because he knows how to respond to the paparazzi & reporters. Oh please, he is a CEO & a playboy, why not? She said he's been loving and affectionate but I didn't get anything from the chapters about how he is loving and affectionate? Ok, cut it short so can jump right to the picture I get it.

The heroine is a virgin of cause, she saves the V card because she never meets the right person and she always has not much change to date. The next morning, she throws herself at the hero because she is attracted to him. 🙄

The board meeting at a cocktail party - heroine needs to impress the board member to help the hero to save the CEO position. But, what's the hero done get me rolling my eyes. He throws her to the wolf and walks away to let her face the wolfs herself. WHAT? She is just an intern right?!

The story-telling keeps jump from one event to another event...

so the final part of the pregnancy - I didn't know how to express my feeling about the book, it just feels the dialog was a bit wrong for me.

So two stars for this book is all I can rate. I don't hate this book it's just not my cup of tea. 😛

Bryce and Cora's Story . . .

Cora Rhodes works at Hollis Marketing where CEO Bryce Hollis is a notorious playboy. The Board of Directors is getting tired of his wild activities and, if they invoke the morality clause in the contract, he can lose his company. So he offers money to get Cora to agree to a “fake” marriage for 6 months to improve his image and give him more stability in their eyes. Since Cora needs the funds to pay for her mom’s medical bills, she agrees.

But when real feelings start happening, will they tell each other how they feel? Or will they try to hide it, knowing the marriage will be dissolved soon? And what about the pregnancy test? Will she tell her new husband the results? Or will she foolishly try to keep this a secret?

This was a good read. Bryce needs to make a good impression on the board. He asks Cora to be his pretend wife. Of course they end up falling in love for real. They have some complications but they still have their happy ending.

Crystal Monroe has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Cora and Bryce. Bryce is on his last chance to stay CEO of Hollis Marketing. His father, SAl, and the Board of Directors are upset with him over his playboy ways. They are ready to vote him out if he doesn't change. Cora is an intern at Hollis Marketing, when she is getting files for her supervisor, Dana. She is running back to her office when she runs into Bryce. Bryce goes to his office and he can't stop thinking about Cora. His father, Sal, is in his office and is telling Bryce that he has hired a publicist to improve his image. Sal introduces Allison to Bryce and she tells him that there is a clause in his contract that will allow the board to get rid of him if he doesn't act a certain way. They go back and forth a few minutes and then Bryce tells them that he would get married. Bryce thinks that Cora would be the perfect person to help him pull this off. She is called up to his office and when she gets there, they talk about what happened the night before. At first, after being told what favor Bryce wants help with, she is about to say no when he tells her that if she doesn't help him he would have to fire her over what happened the night before. Before she agrees to marry him, she has a few things he has to agree to and after he does, things start going really fast. They are married within two weeks. At an event, she is put on the spot when Bryce leaves her, and she is faced with two board members. She thinks she has done messed things up for Bryce. Bryce is upset but not with Cora. He blames himself for leaving her alone. Now Bryce has one of the board members telling him that he is being watched and the first time he messed up, he was out. As the two of them get to know each other more, the more his feelings change for her and hers for him. They have been together for five months and Cora finds out she is pregnant. She is not sure how Bryce feels about her so she doesn't tell him how she feels about him. She wants their marriage to be real. She keeps the pregnancy a secret but Bryce knows that something is wrong. He tries to talk to her but she tells him nothing is wrong. They are at the office for a party and she is not acting herself. Bryce takes her away from the party and asks her what is wrong. She doesn't know what makes her snap but she tells him that she is pregnant. To say that Bryce is mad is wrong, he is livid that she didn't tell him. He thinks back and realized that she has known for two weeks that she was pregnant. He knows that they can't discuss things there so they go back inside. Once they get back to the apartment, she makes it upstairs before him. He is not going to let her get away with what she told him without discussing it. They get into a fight and both say things that they don't mean. She tells him that she is done. She goes to bed. The next morning when she wakes up, she sees that Bryce did not come to bed. She is looking through her news feeds when there is a story about Bryce being at a club the night before. This makes her think that what she thought they had was nothing but a lie. He had gone back to his old ways. They get into an argument and she said she was done. She goes into the bedroom, packs a few things, and leaves. It's been a few days and Bryce has not heard from Cora. There is a call from the doorman and he is told that there was an Avery there to see him. He said to send her up. When she gets up to the apartment, she tells him that Cora had sent her there to pick up her things, or if he didn't want to do that then he could take the list and get the things. Bryce realized that Cora didn't even want to talk to him or see him. He knows that what he said to her was wrong. He doesn't want things between them to end. He tells Avery that he is not going to do either one. Avery tells Cora what Bryce had told her and she decides to go and get her things herself. She decides to go to the apartment on a Monday thinking that Bryce would be at work. When she gets there, he was standing there. They end up talking and telling each other how they feel.
Will Cora give Bryce a second chance to do the right thing for her and the baby?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was better than the first but not by much! Some small spoilers

Bryce is CEO of a company. Don't know what that company does, we never get told. The board and his dad are pissed off that he is a playboy and tarnishing the good reputation of the company. Earlier that very day he ran into Cora and couldn't stop thinking about her bla bla so he decides he is going to marry her for 6 months (which is when his probation as CEO is over) and he can have full control.

Cora's mum has just gotten over cancer so she is still really week and needs constant care and medicines so she agrees to marry him for a nice tidy sum of 3 mil.

It all happens very fast. One chapter is them meeting the parents (she only has her mum and he only has his dad) then the next chapter is the wedding.

She says shes a virgin and i'm guessing she is mid twenty's but she says she has been waiting for the right guy which she doesn't think is Bryce but the morning after the weeding they have sex. Literally just jumps into bed with him the first day. Then she starts saying she knows exactly what he needs because they complete each other. Seems a bit obsessive to me.

The six months is nearly up and he tells his dad he loves her and doesn't want it to end but he doesn't tell her because she might not feel the same way. Dumb!!!!!

She finds out she is preggers and he doesn't handle it well. Says she is trying to trap him. Hang on, i thought you didn't want her to leave?? Anyway he is a complete dick about it and at first she says she will stay because they made a deal and you know, the money but after he goes to the club where all his problems started and gets photographed there she tells him to keep his money then she packs and leaves.

He chats with his dad then her mum. He realises he needs both her and the baby so he waits in his penthouse until she comes by for her stuff. Erm maybe you should have gone and gotten her. Just a thought. Anyway he apologises and kisses her belly and all is forgiven.

It would have been nice to have more of Bryce s backstory to understand him more and i wish i knew what his company did. He never did any work. He just sat in his chair looking out over the city

She forgave him way to easily but the epilogue was cute so 3 stars

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
This book is part of the Bosses and Babies series it appears each book will read as a standalone however, why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Bryce is a sexy as all get out CEO playboy and a bad image that if he doesn’t get it cleaned up the board and father is going to vote him out of Hollis Marketing. Cora is an inter at Hollis Marketing while getting files and returning to her office she runs into Bryce literally. For the first time in a long while Bryce couldn’t forget about Cora, but his father has hired someone to help his image but instead he tells them he is getting married. He pulled a jerk move on Cora telling her he will get her fired for running into him if she doesn’t marry him, but she is the submissive he thinks she counter him with specifications of her own before marring him. Neither of them wanted to acknowledge the chemistry brewing between them and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored even after getting married. As they get to know each other their feelings change but neither is ready to admit it and about six mo into the marriage she realizes she is pregnant, but she says nothing keeping it to herself. It changed her way of thinking, her actions and Bryce notices but when he asks there isn’t anything wrong. While at a party she is so frustrated and finally spills the truth about being pregnant, Bryce is so upset but not because she is pregnant but because she didn’t tell him when she found out. Of course, they end up fighting and things go from bad to worse each saying things they don’t mean and Cora leaves will they communicate, will she forgive him for the things he said and can they really have a real marriage with the baby coming and will they have happiness?

This book started out with a deal to help each other for 6 months but soon the lines got blurred and feelings got involved. Bryce Hollis is the CEO of Hollis Marketing and he does a fantastic job but the board of directors are worried about his image as the playboy ruining everything so they are forcing him to change or he’s out because there is a clause in contract stating he must behave or he looses it all and his father and founder Sal Hollis agrees because he put this clause in place. Cora Rhodes is struggling to stay afloat with medical bills pilling up after her mother’s cancer treatments and with Cora juggling the mortgage payments as well she is caught taking toilet paper from work by the CEO Bryce Hollis but he takes it easy on her and helps her out with an advance of cash and giving her time to pay it back. Bryce was so angry with his father for bring some publicist lady Alison Evans in to clean up his image he walks out on them saying he is getting Married. Cora is summoned the bosses office terrified she is being sacked and is so shocked by the preposition that will help both of them out she agrees to marry him and convince the board of directors it’s real in exchange for money and the care for her mother and all her bills. How does this all work out for them with miss understandings and trust issues on both sides and what happens when fake becomes real and a baby on the way. Get this amazing book to find out.

Cora is a shy, modest intern who works at an advertising business and literally runs into the CEO, Bryce. Cora is taking care of her mother who is recovering from cancer and she is having trouble paying the bills. Bryce, 30, is a playboy and the Board of Directors is tired of his womanizing and because of a morality clause in his contract, he could be forced out in 6 months. Bryce decides he needs a pretend wife and uses some threats and the promise of money to get Cora to be his pretend wife. Things move very quickly and they are married within weeks but some of the board members are still skeptical that he has changed his behavior. Cora is a virgin and attracted to Bryce but she is afraid of developing feelings for Bryce. Will Bryce change his playboy lifestyle and can he and Cora find happiness together?

I loved this story where the shy girl and the playboy enter a pretend marriage. The author did a great job showing Cora’s love for her mom and how her father leaving her mom before she was even born still affected her life. Bryce’s mom had also left when he was very young and his workaholic dad hadn’t always been there for him. They both had issues with their pasts to resolve so that they could find happiness. The epilogue was a perfect ending for their story.

Whew I tell you both these characters had Mommy and Daddy Issues. This was definitely my first time reading this trope with the pregnancy part. This was definitely a quick read. It hit all the points in the story so you don't feel like you are missing parts. Because the book was short to me, I will say it was kind of giving me insta love vibes.

If you like reading this book, here are some that are similar minus the pregnancy/secret baby trope ----To Have and to Hate, Blame it on the Champagne, Marriage for One, and Bossy Grump.

If you are a fan of the fake marriage trope then this is the perfect fit for you. If you are looking for something easy to read that will entertain you, but not take long to get through then I recommend this book. If you are looking for something different and/or a twist on the trope then this is NOT the book for you. It was cute to read and kept me entertain, but it was very generic. The backstory of Cora and Bryce was the most shocking part of the novel, but even that was expected. Cora is struggling to make ends meet and Bryce is in trouble for is player ways. Bryce comes up with a proposition that he believes will offer a solution for both of them; Bryce will cover all of Cora's expenses as long as she agrees to be his wife. They end up falling for each other, but neither are willing to admit their feelings. They end up getting pregnant and that doesn't go over to well, but in the end it all works out! There were some cute moments between the two that had you rooting for them to make it work. Overall it was a fun and fast read.

Bosses Pretend Wife by Crystal Monroe
by `

Cora Rhodes, intern at Hollis Marketing, physically runs into the notorious womanizer CEO Bryce Hollis. This is the same guy she’s been daydreaming about. Bryce was a gentleman and helped her pick up the paperwork she dropped after learning her name. She runs into Bryce again while “borrowing “ toilet paper that her ill mother said they need at home. Bryce understands she doesn’t get paid until next week and gives her some cash to go to the store. In the meanwhile, Bryce`s playboy mischief becomes front page tabloid fodder and the board of directors are calling a meeting regarding a morality clause and removing him as CEO. Bryce`s father started the company and together they discuss how he can turn his image around. Bryce jokes to the PR rep that marriage would fix the image problem. And he has Cora in mind when he says it.

Bryce is a playboy CEO of Hollis Marketing. Bryce finds out that if he doesn't change his philandering ways the Board of Directors can force him out of being CEO in 6 months. So so good!!! Bryce is the CEO of of Hollis Marketing and he’s in trouble with his father and the Board of Directors for his playboy ways. Cora is trying to make ends meet and works as an intern at Hollis Marketing. She meets Bryce when she literally runs into him when she’s running to her office with paperwork for her supervisor. Bryce’s father, Sal, hires a publicist to improve his image and Bryce tells them he’s going to get married and he knows just the right girl. Bryce calls Cora to his office and makes her a proposition, marry him for six months to fix his image, and she gets a hefty amount of money in the end. Cora agrees and soon they are married and their journey begins. This story has amazing characters, and it’s filled with some drama, secrets, and plenty of steam. Cora and Bryce’s story

Cora is an intern at Bryce’s company. Bryce is the CEO. They literally collide one day in a hallway and Cora’s stacks of paper fall to the floor. Cora is the perfect sweet and classy woman and Bryce is immediately interested.
Bryce’s board members of his company are worried that Bryce isn’t taking his new job seriously and wonders if his petting lifestyle will effect the company. So Bryce’s daddy hires a PR firm to look into Bryce’s image.
Bryce gets mad at his dad trying to manipulate his private life so he comes up with a plan to get married to a perfect classy woman for 6 months when his probationary period ends for his new CEO position.
Who immediately comes to mind when he thinks of this new plan? CORA
Read this book to see how Bryce convinces Cora to be his fake real wife. How do the sparks fly? How does the surprise baby mix in with their plan?

This books was a lot better than the first book.... I think what set it apart was that it wasn't just instant love. It was more about getting to know one another and that was amazing. The books itself wasn't too horrible, the smut was good and of course that was spicy. I think the one thing I would have changed was how fast they jumped into bed with one another after they got fake married. Especially sine she had just said she was a virgin and was waiting for the right guy. I did appreciate that fact, and I loved that Bryce was respectful of Cora's views on sex and the reason why she was a virgin at her age. However, for her to say that and then to jump in bed with Bryce saying "I want you." that was a bit of a stretch for me and I would have preferred them to get to know one another a little bit before they had sex. But other than that I really like this book. I also liked that the problem they had arise was the unexpected baby.

A Love Story Beyond Expectations

This is my 1st review for this author. Ms. Monroe has left me emotionally exhausted! What a roller coaster ride with innocent Cora being swooped into a deal with Bryce to ensure he continues on as CEO in his remaining 6 months probationary period. Something that is supposed to be cut & dry simple, has become more complicated. As time goes by, their connection & small flame of interest to each other intensifies into an inferno. Cora is becoming everything Bryce is searching in a woman. She's so different, charming, caring towards others, gorgeous & knows how to play the part of pretend wife to Bryce. They go through a learning curve & are destined to have their HEA. Definitely a must-read novel.

I just don’t know

What’s wrong with me I hold off on the really good book and I read books that I am not interested in or are interested and lost interested this I like the fourth or fifth series I lose interest into and didn’t finish it right away and it could been other reasoning holding me back like there is a book that didn’t get release yet but anyways I know I definitely will be reading the next one because this one and the first one in this series was great and honestly I definitely recommend it because I regret holding back on reading this now I got to read the rest of the book in this series because If I love this and the first book I know I am going to regret holding back and my philosophy is why regret when you should do something about it and that is what I will be doing until I am finish with this series.

Cora is working as an intern for Hollis Marketing, and is desperately trying to keep her head above water dealing with all the bills that exist due to her mom being sick.
Bryce Hollis is the freshly appointed CEO of the company, after his father chose to step down. He is a notorious playboy, but when he realizes there is a morality clause in his contract, and the board could try to remove him, he has to change his ways.
Both characters are well written, and have some deep emotional scars. So much of the pain they caused each other could have been helped if they had communicated better, but their interactions were realistic. Absolutely loved this book.

A great romantic read. Cora is a struggling intern at a leading marketing company trying hard to make ends meet whilst caring for her sick mother. A chance encounter in the corridor with the gorgeous, playboy CEO of the company changes her life from there onwards. Bryce has been threatened by his father to clean up his act or face losing his position at the company. He makes Cora an offer she can’t refuse: be his wife for 6 months and walk away with $3 million. Neither of them is prepared for what happens, least of all an unplanned pregnancy. Will Cora win her baby daddy’s love? Will Bryce overcome his commitment issues and admit their marriage could have a future. A great story with a swoony HEA

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Cora and Bryce. Cora is a young woman who is just starting as an intern at Hollis Marketing at taking time off to care for her mom. She runs into the handsome CEO while delivering files and it changes her life. Bryce took over as CEO six months ago but his Playboy ways are causing issues. He's issued an ultimatum. So he decides to have Cora be his fake wife for the duration of his probationary period and he will help her out. What neither planned on where feelings to be developed. Cora's boss is a playboy, but she still thinks he's hot.
When she literally runs into him in work, she comes under his radar.
Bryce's reputation is starting to damage his company so his father gives him an ultimatum to sort his reputation out with the help of a pr expert or loose his job as CEO.
But Bryce decides to take matters into his own hands and recruits Cora to be his fake wife in exchange for money he knows she needs.
Cora is happy to except as they money will help her and her sick mother, its supposed to be a business transaction, but what happens when they both start to get feelings for each other.

I have to say that this story had me on edge. The way this couple came together is interesting. Fake marriage and she gets a sum of money sure why not right. He's a playboy after all, so with that and the fake marriage, will people believe that he is willing to change? Let's get into a fight after he finds out some dire information she kept from him. So that way he can return to playboy status, right? Is that truly what happened? You will get drama, misunderstandings, secrets, steamy times, love, and a few other things mixed in this one.
