Ya’ll … look at that smirk on the cover! Does he not look like a good time?!?! Yes, yes he does! GAH, I love a good #coverwin *heart eyes*
There’s not much to say about this one except that yes, it was entertaining and fun and flirty and humorous. The problem is that because of its length, it all seemed to happen way too fast or rather without real development. The idea behind the story is fantastic and came with an inherent proximity that is going to work in your favor if you want to write a novella, but I need a bit more depth to my reads. This was shallow. If you’re a fan of romantic comedies, this did a good job with the easy nature behind that trope, but it was just a bit fluffy to me and over before it even began … *shrug* I don’t not recommend this book but …

Definitely a missed opportunity. The premise was interesting–a road trip with two strangers, an uptight art lover and a nonchalant comedian. But all the good ideas, like how Anthony mistakes Emerson for a guy before they meet, or the fact that Emerson is a virgin, aren’t exploited to their full potential.
In the same vein, all the conversations where they learn about each other’s life are reduced to quick paragraphs without much information. I had the hardest time relating with Emerson and Anthony because we know almost nothing about them. They’re painted with quick strokes–Emerson would love this though. This book is unfortunately a good example of ‘tell, not show’.
The little sexy bits were nice, though without a connection with the characters, they felt almost technical. But since it’s all we get about their feelings for each other… The ending is almost anticlimactic–where is my grand gesture? And the multiple epilogue were unnecessary.
There was something there, for sure, and this story deserves to be developped and extended.

WOW!! I couldn't put this one down. I absolutely love it!! This was a nice quick, short read.
Anthony meets Emerson when they go on a across country road trip, from Los Angeles to New York. Emerson gets Anthony number from her roommate Layla, who went to see his stand up routine in a club then talked to him after. Anthony thinks that Emerson is a guy, but couldn't figure out how he got his number, he couldn't figure out who Layla was. Anthony is heading to New York to audition at The Comedy Vault while Emerson is going for an interview at Malhoy Gallery. Anthony tells Emerson he's all in they are going to share expenses of food and hotels. Anthony tells his roommate that he's got an offer to share a ride with some Emerson guy. When Sunday morning comes Emerson is waiting outside Anthony's apartment and she's texting him after she's been waiting. She's about to pull away when he comes rushing out and steps right in front of her car. Anthony is shocked when he sees that Emerson is a female. When he finds out she wants to drive further than he wants he asks if she'll stop in Las Vegas and he'll get a room for them. She only agrees if he'll be up early so they can make it to Denver. They stop for gas and food along the way and start to talk about each of them got into their careers. Anthony asks Emerson to come to his open mic and she enjoys it, then they go sight seeing. The next day they wake up early to head out, Anthony takes a nap, he can't keep his eyes open. When they run into a storm he asks her if she would like him to drive, he takes over driving the rest of the way. When they arrive at their hotel they only have single king size bed available so they have to sleep in the same bed. They head out to another open mic night and Anthony is a hit with everyone. They head back to the hotel to go to bed, they need to get up early again the next morning. They spend the whole next day in the car, only stoping for gas and picking up snack along the way. They get to know one another, talking about each others families. As soon as they arrive in Chicago they head to an open mic, but Anthony doesn't do so well, he gets a lot of heckling. When he leaves the stage he grabs Emerson and they head to their hotel. Emerson doesn't understand why they hated him so much, and he tells her it happens sometimes. They get ready for bed and Emerson asks him why they didn't like him and he tries to explain to her. He tells her when he first knew he wanted to be a comedian and she tells him about loving art. They walk around Chicago the next day before they head to New York. Anthony asks Emerson if she wants to stay with him instead of getting a hotel room in New York. He tells her he is staying with his brother, but he doesn't know he's coming. They stop in Pittsburg to see Anthony's other brother Ames, who works at Eye Candy Ink. Ames takes Anthony and Emerson out for dinner, they they get back on the road. They arrive at Anthony's brother's Alexander penthouse, Eden is awake and shock to see them. Alexander tells him they'll talk in the morning seeing as it's so late. Anthony and Emerson share a bed and when the lights go out they begin to kiss. They strip off each others clothes and they get physical. Emerson has her interview the next day, when she gets back to the penthouse she isn't sure how to act around Anthony. Not sure if they are together or if they just had a one night stand. She tries to talk to him but they are all headed out to dinner and then to see Anthony at open mic. She tries to talk to him about it but they have to leave so she doesn't get the chance. The day of Anthony's open auditions Emerson leaves early so he doesn't get a chance to talk to her. Emerson arrives just in time for him to go on stage. He finds out they will make a decision and call him the next day. They get back to the penthouse and get physical afterwords Emerson tells him she loves him but he doesn't say anything back. She climbs out of the bed and goes to the other guest bedroom. The next day Emerson finds out she got the job, so she goes back to the penthouse and packs her things. She talks to Layla and finds out she wants to come to New York. So Emerson grabs a flight back to Los Angeles, to pack her things. When Anthony comes home he finds out that Emerson left and went back home to pack her things up, he didn't even know she got the job. He tries to call her but she doesn't call him back, so he sends her messages and he doesn't message him back. Anthony finds out he didn't get the job, and isn't sure what to do. His roommate Theo calls him and they make plans to meet up in New York in a few weeks. Three weeks go by while Emerson is trying to get her stuff to New York. She avoids Anthony's calls and messages. When she gets home and makes dinner her roommate Layla comes and asks her if she wants to go out. Emerson asks her where and she tells her to a comedy club. Emerson doesn't want to go but Layla tells her she needs to let him apologies and move on. Anthony's at the club and his roommate Theo comes to support him, soon Emerson and Layla walk in. He asks her if he can talk to her and she tells him ok. He tells her he froze and he's is sorry. She tells him it hurt, and he tells her he knows, she accepts his apology. She asks him what they do now if they should take things slow, he tells her he loves her. She tells him alright he can have one more chance. She tells him they'll talk over dinner tomorrow and for him to text her she'll answer him this time. Anthony has his second audition at The Comedy Vault and get in. He takes Emerson out for just pizza, they walk and talk. He asks her out on a second date and she accepts. They arrive back at her apartment and she asks him to come up, they get physical as soon as the door closes. Five years later, Anthony comes home from being on tour to surprise Emerson. He had a deal with Netflix last year and now they called and offered him another contract. They moved in together six months after they both moved to New York. Layla and Theo moved in together. They were married six months later in a small ceremony. Emerson worked her way up to become manager. If you'd had told him he would have met his forever on a cross country road trip he wouldn't of believed you but that's what happened. Ten years later, they head on vacation to a cabin in Pennsylvania. Alexander, Ames, their wife's and kids, along with their parents all take vacations together. They have their two daughter Dahlia and Kinsley with them. Theo and Layla are in France, they've been married for six year. If you would have told Emerson she'd be married to a famous comedian she wouldn't of believed you not because she didn't want that, but because she was to afraid to even wish for it. He’s her best friend, the love of her life, and all of my wildest dreams wrapped up into one. Emerson is the best thing that ever happened to Anthony. She is his best friend, his wife, the mother of his children, and he know that she’s also his always.

Comedian Anthony and art gallery employee Emerson both need to travel from Los Angeles to New York for career opportunities, but are strapped for cash. Their mutual friend, Emerson's roommate Layla, suggests that they drive across the country together to share the costs. Emerson is understandably reluctant to get in a car with a strange man, but Layla convinces her that Anthony is harmless, so she agrees to the plan. At first, it's awkward between them because of a mix-up that led Anthony to believe Emerson was a man, but as they get to know each other during long days of driving, they end up becoming friends. When they're forced to share a bed at one of the hotels along the way, they suddenly realize that there may actually be something stronger than friendship between them.
"Cocky Comedian" was a cute, fast-paced, surprisingly steamy story. There wasn't a tremendous amount of character or relationship development given the story's short length (I read the whole thing in just over an hour), but I did like Anthony and Emerson together. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, and it might have been nice to see Anthony make a grand gesture or at least do a little more groveling before Emerson forgave him. She let him off the hook pretty easily IMO!
While I can't say that this book is going to be a keeper for me, I did like it enough to recommend it for fans of romantic comedy and contemporary romance. I would pick up another one of this author's books in the future.

The ending felt a bit rushed to me, and it might have been nice to see Anthony make a grand gesture or at least do a little more groveling before Emerson forgave him. She let him off the hook pretty easily IMO!
While I can't say that this book is going to be a keeper for me, I did like it enough to recommend it for fans of romantic comedy and contemporary romance. I would pick up another one of this author's books in the future.

I hated it.
Man whore hero
Fucks the heroine taking her virginity (with a condom at the ready). She wants to talk about it, but he ignores her.
They fuck again (with condom), then she says I love you, and he stays silent. His inner monologue is his realization that he is in love with her.....yeah...I don't believe it, nothing says 'I love you' than to be separated by latex, and then when she says it first to freeze, let her be upset, she leaves the bed to cry in another room, and he doesn't have the balls to comfort her, he just falls asleep. What a pencil dick, (that dipped into so many pussies, he has condoms at the ready), little sorry excuse of a beta man.
She leaves, ignores his texts asking for forgiveness, she comes back after a week or so and they fuck again...with a condom of course, so romantic...*eye roll*.
I hated the book, will not read again. There is no romance, the sex was lukewarm, I hate man whores, I hate the separation of condom use, I hate a coward beta male, I hated all of it.
Good thing it won't be memorable.

4.5 Stars for Cocky Comedian (Cocky Hero Club)
Another new author and another great addition to the world of cocky hero’s.
This is Emerson and Anthony’s entertaining journey and it all starts when the pair decide to drive to New York for job interviews. It makes sense to save money and drive to New York as they both have job interviews and from the moment they get in the car the fun begins, with a few stops on the way this pair realise they have a connection but it’s in New York that this romance really heats up…..
Two strangers getting to know each other on a long car journey leaves them as friends and lovers, the chemistry sizzling and the banter is witty, the characters adorable and Cocky Comedian is a perfect addition this world of cocky hero’s. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

A suggestion to listen to this on a day that was not going well was one of the best ideas yet! A quick listen, this blind date kind of story had me from the beginning. Emerson needs to get to New York from Los Angeles for an interview. A mutual friend suggests she share a ride with a friend of hers and the two make plans to cross the country. And our love story begins. Humor, slow burn romance and characters that just put a smile on your face, this story pushed all the right buttons for me. Yes, it's short, but fun and was exactly what I needed.
The narration was excellent! Aaron Shedlock and Grace Grant bring these characters to life. From the stage of a comedy show to the floor of an art museum, the personalities of Anthony and Emerson are on point. It is a story you sure do not want to miss!

Emerson has the opportunity to apply for the job she has always wanted at an art gallery in NY however the trip will make a big dent in the meager savings she has. When her best friend suggests that she travel with Anthony as he needs to go to NY as well it seems like the perfect solution for both of them.
All Anthony has ever wanted is to be a stand-up comedian so the chance to audition for a club in NY could be a dream come true however getting there is a bit of a roadblock. When he agreed to travel with Emerson, he never expected the chemistry and connection between them but when they reach NY will it be their beginning or their end?
This is a fun and flirty story about two very different people who find what they didn’t know they were looking for in each other.

Emerson was uptight (can totally relate) while Anthony went with the flow so they're complete opposites obviously. She has an important job interview but has limited funds to drive to NY. Anthony's dream is to do his stand-up comedian act in NY, so when Emerson's bestie recommends she take him with her, life takes a big turn for both of them. They started out as strangers, but that whole road trip forced proximity allows them to really get to know each other, and the sparks flying are pretty undeniable so when they reach NY, things really get interesting, but will it be the start of something great, or dead in the water? Cocky Comedian was a fun read at the end of the day, so for answers on how it all pans out, you know what to do! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is a cute road trip story with a cocky comedian and his uptight companion.
Emerson needs to get to NYC for a job interview, but with limited funds her friend suggests a travel partner. Anthony needs to get to NYC for a stand up comedy audition. So when some dude named Emerson texts asking for a road trip partner he jumps at it.

This is the first book I have read by the author and it is a quick, entertaining read that I wish was longer to really flesh out these characters. Emerson is a woman who is looking for a way to get to her interview in New York as her funds are limited. Anthony is a comedian who met Emerson’s roommate and is accompanying her on the drive. As they have plenty of time, they make stops along the way so that Anthony can practice his craft before he is scheduled to audition for a spot in an New York comedy club. There is a pull between them, after a fashion, and they come to realize that they are what the other never knew they needed. Overall, this is an enjoyable, fast paced storyline with witty dialogue.

Cocky comedian was a quick entertaining read, and Emerson and Anthony had chemistry from the moment he got into her car for the very long road trip from LA to New York. They both have interviews so Emerson decides to save some money and drive. Her roommate lets her know about Anthony, who also happens to be needing to get to New York so she suggests that Emerson reach out to him, she does and it's quite the trip!! They make stops along the way, and get to know each other and once they get to New York things heat up...big time!!! If you want to find out what happens, you'll just have to read Cocky Comedian, I do wish this book had been longer, but I did enjoy it. I think you will too!!

He knows he's good but along the way he proves it to Emerson. Along the drive they get to know each other. You can feel the chemistry pull between them. I loved their banter back and forth. The flow throughout the book was perfect. Shaw Hart is a new author to me and I truly enjoyed this fun and fast paced read. I would definitely recommend Cocky Comedian.

Emerson is needing to drive to New York for a job interview at an Art Gallery. Anthony a Comedian and needs to get to New York for an audition. So why not car pool, share gas and hotel cost with a stranger? What can happen? You either hate each other or fall madly in love right? This was a very cute, very entertaining quick Read. There was some quick funny banter and some hot chemistry. Throw in a few pit stops to do stand up and visit a few relatives and you have a very enjoyable read. I look Forward to reading more books by this author.

I loved this short read by Shaw. Emerson needs to get to New York for a job interview. Driving there is cheaper than flying but she is apprehensive about driving alone. Her best friend and housemate suggest taking her friend and comedian Anthony with her. Anthony also has a job interview in New York to further his career as a comedian. Anthony is the perfect travel companion for Emerson convincing her to do and see things along the way. Their chemistry together is most definitely there and they have fun along the way.

This is another great addition to this amazing series and is Anthony and Emerson’s story. Both characters need to go to New York for interviews, and Emerson’s best friend suggests they travel together so save money, and they strike a deal that he will help with expenses, and they stop in every town for open mic shows. This is a fun and crazy cross-country drive, which is well written, fast paced, and with witty and flirty banter, and is an enjoyable and entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.

Anthony is a Comedian and Emerson works at an art gallery, both of them need to get somewhere, and together they will have a journey. They are both attracted to each other but Emerson is a take no crap kinda gal and she doesn't tolerate anything. She needs to get to her interview on time, but the hottie in her car is making that really hard. I did like the chemistry between these two and their travels were interesting. But sometimes being stuck in a car with someone is not all it's cracked up to be. Will Emerson throw Anthony out of the car before they get to their destination?

I enjoyed reading this delightful book by Shaw who was a new author to me. Emerson is heading to New York and says yes to Anthony coming along. These two have a great chemistry as the drive across America. This was a sweet fun and easy read

I can always count on Shaw Hart to give me the sweet and sexy with not too much drama. This story was no different. I love that we get to discover Anthony and Emerson on their drive cross country while going on an adventure. The chemistry was amazing and I loved the banter and back and forth as that made the story fun.

This book was about two hours long. They went from meeting to being in love in a week.
I’m not saying that can’t happen but I like a little more meat to my stories.
The story was quite cute though and she gives two short epilogues to give you glimpses into their future life.
Overall not a bad story.

I loved how these two are introduced to one another. Needing to travel cross country but not having enough to do so alone Layla suggest these two drive together to save money. I love how these two connect and how well they interact between one another. An amazing story!

I’m inspired to take a road trip now, lol… I’ve been wanting to read about Ames brothers after reading his book. This book was the cutest… I’m so glad Emerson made him work for it. Made Anthony realize what he had. It was cute how he really missed his best friend (Emerson)🥰
