Dr. Maeve "Mac" MacInnis is a physician working at the only hospital in Grey Lake, New Hampshire. She has made a pleasant, but lonely home for herself in the quaint shifter village with her chihuahua Lucy and her blind pug Linus. Her life is uneventful until she is forced to kill the traitorous Officer Cal Harris to save May Jensen's life. She recovers from that trauma when her friend and next door neighbor, Alice, is brutally murdered while Mac is on a date with wolf alpha and chief of police Heath Jensen.

Enamored with the brave, intelligent eagle shifter, Heath makes it his personal mission to keep the stubborn woman safe as it appears that Alice's killer was truly after Mac. Believing herself to be unworthy of the alpha's affection, Mac initially dismisses him, but Heath is nothing if not persistent. As Heath protects Mac and her pups, they develop a tentative friendship.

As Mac struggles to untangle a medical mystery affecting bear shifters in the village and Heath searches for Alice’s killer, the two discover Mac has a previously dormant ancient shifter ability. Heath and Mac work together to hone this power as it just may be vital in the fight to protect Grey Lake from destruction. As their relationship heats up, Mac also learns how persistent an alpha can be.

Eagles Flame

This last book still left me with questions that I’m sure will make it into the next! Glad to see everyone found a mate, but was beginning to wonder about the Chief!
There differently needs to be a 4th book coming soon !,

I borrowed Eagle's Flame ~ Grey Lake Shifters ~ Book 3 from the Kindle Unlimited Program.

Eagle's Flame is the third book in the Grey Lake Shifter Series and it tells the story of the romance of Dr. Maeve "Mac" MacInnis and Heath Jensen, the alpha of the wolf pack and chief of the Grey Lake Police. The town of Grey Lake is having incident after incident of harm coming from a rogue phoenix shifter from Rhode Island. The problem is proving it as he recruits locals to turn on each other.

Mac has a healing power that the enemy is determined to stop with her elimination and her new mate Heath is just as determined to protect her. Lots of action, betrayal and adventure to keep the plot interesting and I couldn't wait to see what happens next.

DNF @ 40%. WAYYY too wordy. I'm tired of reading about the dogs prancing around. I just wanted to know what happened next with the (I can't even remember his name) man who was hunting his daughter to Grey Lake. Not rating because it's not badly written, just not my cup of tea!

Workaholics eagle Dr. Maeve ‘Mac’ MacInnis and Alpha wolf/Police Chief Heath Jensen don’t like each other though their animals recognized each other as mates when they went to his sister May’s Valentine’s day wedding together. After a patchy evening, there’s no goodnight kiss at Mac’s door, there’s Mac’s open door, destroyed belongings and bloodied walls.

New in town, no family or friends except a murdered neighbor, her home - a crime scene and on the list of shifter targets, Heath offers Mac his guest suite. Visiting a healing witness with Heath, Mac’s driven to place her hands on the now near-death patient and somehow heals him… something she’s never done before. The patient’s healed but at a price.

The mystery deepens at Grey Lake with more threats, more deaths and the bad guys are running rampant seeming to come out ahead at every encounter. But there’s promise on the horizon of a new romance, new shifters, new powers and cunning resource deployment.

Things are getting worse

I hadn’t known that each book has all of the characters that the others have so this is a bit late. What the author does is put in some extra focus on a few while they interact with the rest. We also see more from the POV of the featured people from the book.
Grey Lake is becoming more dangerous in ways that “Lakers” have ever had to deal with. We also see emerging love stories about unexpected people.

meh

I gave it a 3 maybe I should change it to 2 stars, this is book 3 in the grey lake series and I have read it 3 times the story is somewhat the same as the first 2 book just different main characters, they are still fighting the same enemy. I am not sure if I will read the 4 book doesn’t seem like they are close to getting the enemy taken down.

Awesome addition to the series

Each book brings us closer to the final showdown for the Grey Lake shifters. So much love, faith, and mating of the many different shifters. Through it all love shines through. Finding your mate is so much fun as long as you are ready to be a part of a couple to be there for each other no matter what happens. On to #4...

This book was just like a pass the time read. I wouldn’t recommend it to others but it entertained me for a few hours. The writing is kind of awkward at times. Also the names are driving me a little crazy. They are so similar: Declan/Deacon, May/Mac, Alden/Aiden, Cal/Caleb. It makes it hard to keep track of what is happening.

Actual rating 4.5

I really appreciated that the romance moved slower this time around. Unlike the previous two books, there was much more conflict in the relationship. I enjoyed the romance more because of this, especially seeing it develop alongside the overarching plot of the series, which also was more serious and intense in this book.

Four stars!

I have really liked this series! The way the mates find themselves and each other. The ongoing mystery and drama. However, I wish there were more details of the animal side of the shifters.

So far these book’s blend really well and the characters are great. Heath has a lot on his plate will everything in Gray Lake. Mac is a Dr. In the hospital and lives with Lucy and Linus. Neither one is listening to their on halves, they should of.

I truly enjoyed getting to know Heath and Mac better n this story. I liked how their two personalities just dovetailed together to make them stronger as mates. All these magical abilities coming together but why? Hmm maybe the next book will tell us more.

Heath isn't really ready for a mate. His sister asks him to escort Mac to her wedding. His wolf and her eagle insist they are mates. That's probably a good thing for trouble is on its way.

These books can get a bit wordy and have somewhat awkward language in conversations, but I enjoy them as quick, easy reads. For example, Mac's job is described multiple times, the whole set-up for the yes/no game between Mac and Heath at the wedding only for them to ask 2 questions each and go back inside, and when the group makes plans for their surprise attacks.

With the inter-species pairings popping up everywhere and the visions Tessa and May have had I'm hoping this is heading to Grey Lake becoming one large pack. Now that Heath wants all the different species to start working together to protect their town. It will be fun to see the shifters coming together. I have always been a little surprised how much the shifters keep separate, at least so far in this book, when they always talk about it being a small town where word travels fast and they have all of 5 police officers.

I'm curious how pregnancy works for eagle shifters. It's interesting for shifters in general, but at least the mammal shifters have live babies. Birds lay eggs. All of the shifters have said they have to shift routinely, they just have varying lengths they can go between shifts. So what happens when one is pregnant? Does the magic just like magic it into a pocket? Do they not have to shift or are they unable to shift? Also, there are mixed pairings of shifters - if the kid is a different shifter than the mom how can mom shift? Or is the kid always the same shifter type as the mom? Though if the kid was always the same as mom that wouldn't make sense with Iris and Aiden's dad taking Iris' mom as a mate.

It was nice to see Mac and Heath work through their issues together and come to compromises. Obviously they both want to keep the other safe and both want their partner to realize they can protect themselves. I'm curious to see if Aiden and Jamie are going to be a mated pair eventually, so far there haven't been any gay couples in this particular series. It would explain why Aiden's dad is so hard on him though and why he targeted Jamie and somehow cursed him to remain in his wolf form.

We're getting in deep now too with all these mysterious threads that Alden has been weaving for years unnoticed. He already tried to buy a bunch of land in the area before Tessa shut him down, then he wormed his way in with the cougar shifters to try and take out members of Grey Lake who will stand against him in the big battle we're heading towards, then he also injected Jamie with SOMETHING, and he's been testing something on the bears in Grey Lake. He's been a busy guy while also running all the companies he owns. You know he's going to be behind the recent budget cuts too that supposedly came from the city level in the last book.

I was really sad to see Cora being a traitor in Grey Lake! I know she did it for her father, and people will do a lot of objectionable things when their family is threatened, but for her and Noah to be able to get away with it for so long? Alden must be really good at finding and corrupting people who would be good at undercover work since none of the people in this so-called "small town" are caught until it's too late.

I'm curious if Tessa recognized the phoenix from her visions and from May's paintings wasn't her? Was that her first clue she was about to die? She seems to be going downhill pretty fast, is that how it works with phoenix shifters in this world? I've read others where phoenix shifters took after the mythological beings - they died and were reborn. Phoenix aren't usually included in most shifter stories just because I feel like it can be hard to deal with. The closest I have seen recently was a story that had a thunderbird as a side character but even he was at the end of his long life. Well, besides the very cheesy reverse harem I read where she found out she was a phoenix when she died in a car accident flying through the windshield and woke up with her clothes burned off.
