Aspen Haste struggles with things most teenagers have no problem dealing with. As a sixteen-year-old girl with crippling anxiety and currently on medication, her only solace is the same order she asks in Café de Fleur. This helps somewhat, but she still has to deal with the perils of teenage life, as well as her insomnia from the medication.
Well . . . there’s also Isaac Hensick, one of the “It Boys” of the school whose reputation precedes him. Nevertheless, Aspen is also aware of his other side, and that is the boy who draws on his sketchpad at the corner of Café de Fleur.
Maybe there is more to him than the school knows, but she didn’t think she would find out.
That’s what she thought. Now that she’s become the target of his attention, she’s going to need more than coffee to deal with the headaches.
Livia Halteh is a YA author. Her love for writing started at a young age, when she'd write stories about her and her friends in primary school. Her first book 'Caffeine' explores living with anxiety through high school.
this book is so special to me! i read it on wattpad a while ago and just bought the paperback so i can rr it published!
aspen is really relatable and i like that readers who don’t have anxiety can kind of see a little bit of how crazy it can be in our minds. isaac is super sweet and i like that he wasn’t a perfect boyfriend. also really love that her anxiety wasn’t cured with love and also sometimes made it worse.
super cute old school cliche book & i love these ya books once in awhile
This book was so unnecessarily long and dragged out. The plot was not plotting and honestly it felt like a high schooler wrote this as like her dream of how she wished high school went. I would not recommend this one because nothing made sense.
5/5. 10/10. What more is there to say?! Sugarcoating aside, this book was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Isaac and Aspen.
One thing that could dissway some readers is the grovelling—or lack thereof. There is hardly any but I seriously didn't mind but that's just my opinion.
One thing many should know about me is the fact that I annotate, a lot, so imagine my surprise when I had to bust open a new pack of tabs just to get more of the romance ones.
This book isn't smutty. Ok, there, I said it. Don't go into this book expecting smut it's a YOUNG ADULT romance. It's quite literally there in the name BUT it didn't take away from the book. The fluff was so refreshing. Sometimes, you just need to stop and take a step back from the smut.
Caffeine is an amazingly written book, so much so where I couldn't put it down. My parents actually had to take away the book from me at 3am but shhh don't talk about it ;)
Honestly I'm surprised BookTok hasn't sunk it's claws into this masterpiece. It goes to show that there are a lot of books out there if you just looked in the right places. For me, I looked on Wattpad.
On my bookstagram, books_with_s, I did an edit on this book when I read it before it went into publishing. I've never read a book that was on wattpad then got taken off to be published, reading the published version as well, so it was really surprising (in a good way).
Not gonna lie, when I was half way into this book, I remembered this one scene that was so amazing I couldn't stop thinking about it even when I was reading the book, and I was very scared that Livia, the author, had taken it put and I swear I was thanking baby Jesus when I finally got to read that scene—though a bit different but it was thankfully one of those good different.
I could go on for DAYS about this book and I really wish I could but that's kind of impossible. Thank you Liv for writing such an incredible book and thank you to her publisher for letting me hold this book. <3
I felt that I could totally relate, when I had realized that I have finished the book I was so disappointed. I had fallen in love with the main characters and their coffee. Almost immediately I looked for other romances by this author. I suggest this to ages teenage and beyond. The author made this book so easy to relate and get enveloped in the romance.
Dont get me wrong i loved the plot and the story its just the writing that wasnt the best. First off some parts were confusing because the next chapter would be like 2 weeks later but it never said it so you had to sorta guess where your at. Also i hated the end part because it was like oh story’s over but now heres this guys pov at this time and now here and then this other person pov. The layout was just not good. The story was amazing though. I loved this trope whatever it was. It was cute and a good book to cheer me up.
I don’t know what, how it when but this is my new favorite book I’ve read. I’m not good at writing reviews so I’ll just keep it short and weird. But I love this book so much! They way Isaac and aspen loves each other is so beautiful portrayed and I couldn’t even gather my thoughts while reading this (in a good way) girl if I don’t find my Isaac I don’t want it. The way we saw her panic attacks and anxiety and insomnia was also really amazing cuz I think it’s something important to show in book. And how Isaac could help her with that was just amazing. I really love them so much 😭 i don’t know what more to say then I love it and I love them!! And I also love Riley and William.. little babys 💜

The first time I read this book was 1 year ago on Wattpad. Immediately I fell in love with everything about it. The concept was new and unique. Mental disorders were talked about and the romance was more than amazing. When a physical copy was published, I bought it immediately and reread it and fell in love with the book all over again. One of my comfort reads that I will always recommend.
This sat in my kindle library for quite a long time. I honestly only read it so I could clear up some space for any incoming stuff-your-kindle days. I did end up liking it although I couldn’t connect as well as I normally can with this type of romance. It honestly was almost a 4 star, but it just didn’t make that cut. The author spent too much time on the little details and not enough time on the back stories of each character. (Some but not all)
this was such a comforting read!! so simple and gentle and sweet, i couldn’t stop smiling at times. i identified really well with aspen, the main character, and this book made me feel less alone. the characters are all so likable and the pacing is perfect. this is such a pretty and sweet little book, i love it… :’)
This us by far one of my favourite books I couldn't put it down so amazing I recommend to anyone who likes a sweet romance but realistic bout mental health aswell I love it so much!!!
This book started as a Wattpad book and I remember reading it and instantly loving it. I re-read it multiple times and lastly before it finally got published. Now I read the published versions and I am so proud to say that I knew so many lines without reading them. I literally quoted so many line out loud before reading them because I loved those scenes.
The reason behind me giving this 5 stars is kinda simple, it’s a very good romance book with mental disorders such as anxiety. It’s very realistic and relatable for people like me who suffers from anxiety attacks and other mental health issues. There was several times in this book where Aspen described the feeling under a panic attack, I’ve never read something so accurate about an event I myself have been through. The way Isaac helps Aspen to concentrate on her breathing is just everything that makes me love this book even more. The way he defends her when he knows she’s starting to have a panic attack. Aspens insecurities is so realistic and I loved being able to put myself in the same situation. Isaac was so supportive of Aspen and that's why I think more people need to read this because he handled it so great and more people need to know this!! I also love that the boy falls first in this book, literally loved the way he got jealous but helped her either way because he cares about her.
For this book to come from Wattpad from the beginning is very surprising and I am so happy that this got published because this is a really great book. Hoping Livia will publish “Isla” next!!
Oh my god, it took ME way too much of my life and several coffees to even try pretend to like this book. So so dreary and dull - I expected so much more. The number of times I winced and cringed in worst way possible at this book and that’s even before I got 1/4 of way in.
"I took a casual sip of my coffee, pretending my heart wasn't going into cardiac arrest.
As much as I love Coffee, I did not love this book. I had a hard time finishing it. There were times that it made me gush, but most times, I really got bored.
I think that there were unneccessary scenes that made this book way too long. Plus, I'm having a hard time connecting with the characters.
This book had me KICKING MY FEET. My expectations were low because I hadn’t even seen anyone talk about it before, but I loved it! We’re there some cheesy parts? Yes. Was the relationship 100% healthy 100% of the time? No. But I ate it up and I highly recommend it lol. 5/5 ⭐️
I remember reading caffeine around a year ago. It was the first book I'd read on wattpad and honestly it is one of my favourites. I couldn't help but buy the book too. The characters were realistic (which I don't see often) and they had flaws. I adored the strong friendship Riley, William and Aspen had and how they were there for each other all the time. They are literally friendship goals. I am guilty of falling in love with Will, so underrated. I loved Isaac's and Aspen's relationship, I was really happy that they started dating during the middle of the book to see how their relationship grew and how they connected. It flawlessly showed that relationships aren't always sunshine and rainbows and I was glad. I think we all fell in love with Chloe, at first I wanted to punch her repeatedly but I mean, who doesn't want a Chloe? When I first read caffeine I never really noticed the subtle signs of Sebastian having a crush on Aspen and I was surprised but yes Sebastian has a very special place in my heart. Finger crossed there's a sequel (I know I'm getting my hopes up) but I'd really like to know more about Isaac's parents, we briefly met his mother but I'd really like to get to know her better. I want to know how Isaac's mother is as a person. I want to know more about Marcelina and Isaac's past relationship. I want to know more about Aspen and how she's doing in college. I don't want to pressurise you or anything, I'm happy with or without the sequel! I was just too invested with the characters 😅. I'm super pumped to read about Sebastian's story and how he's doing.
Thank you for this amazing and humorous book you've captivated us with:))

It was so so cute, it was relatable and so adorable, a healthy but sorta drama filled book, the relationship between them is so flipping cute. I think it ended a little too quickly but it’s one of my favorites
Cutest high school romance!!! It's extremely difficult these days to find a good new adult romance book and surprise... surprise I absolutely enjoyed this. Bad boy and good girl college trope is my personal favorite that being said this book was so well executed, the whole interaction between isaac & aspen, their first meet, secret crushes, past and also the side characters were cherry on top. every element was well balanced the angst, jealousy, character development, relationship building and drama which is a must for new adult. Even though the attraction was instant, the romance build up was the best part. Read this if you want something simple highschool romance with lots and lots of goodness.
I found this book on Wattpad and then saw that it was on kindle unlimited and let me tell you, I read this book faster than one should. It’s such a good story and portrays anxiety in a true light. People don’t often see a young adult romance novel that does a good job of spreading awareness to mental illnesses. I’ve reread this three times so I’d say it’s pretty good.
3⭐️ I read this on wattpad a long time ago. When i remembered it and wanted to read it again the author was editing it and because I really really wanted to read the story as soon as possible, I ordered the physical copy.
It’s not the best book and also hasn’t the biggest plot and characters but whatsoever. Its really fast paced and i read the 400 pages in maybe 2h. Its a cute romance book with cute characters. There is no smut in it and it doesn’t need it anyways.
I love isaac and his akwardness its really entertaining. I liked the character development of Aspen at the end, they really grew as characters together.
I love this book. I personally am not a fan of young adult books, I usually gravitate more towards new adults. But this was one of the first books I read on Wattpad, and I read this story right after I was diagnosed with anxiety. Livia gave a really realistic spin on romance tied with age and anxiety. With the two main characters only being 17-18 years old, there was a lot of miscommunication and "red flags" between the two. A lot of people hated this book because of that, without knowing that it is truly so realistic because of their age. Aspen also has anxiety and insomnia so it is really hard for her to think straight without her emotions/insecurities getting in the way. The author showed this so much throughout the book, and she gives both characters amazing character development. Aspen's been gaining confidence and learning more about her brain and how to communicate her thoughts; Isaac's being more caring towards another human, learning how to be in a healthy relationship after being in a toxic one, and learning to help and care for somebody with mental illnesses. Overall, I would check the trigger warnings since there are some in this book, but still, a book I love
Absolutely loved it. I loved both the main character and her love interest. Both have beautifully written personalities, and you get so attached to them. I read this book over and over again and it never gets boring. I love this author and her work.
Unfortunately, have some critiques. Sometimes it felt like missed a part of the book. For example, Aspen's sister and her fiancé's appearance near the ending of teh book, felt very random. Sure, we have heard of them, but its random that they appear at the end of teh book in a chapter with no plot development.
I am also not a fan of the ending. The actual plot ended too early. Even after everything has been resolved, there are like 2-4 chapters that are kind of fillers. They are cute to read, but it would have been better to have filler chapters throughout the book, not after the plot ends.
Long story short, the final chapters were slightly unnecessary
Despite this, everything I love about this book covers up all of its flaws. The characters, plot and writing style instantly make this book one of my favorites.
The romantic scenes between Aspen and Issac are amazing; I reread them constantly. I love teh dynamic between them, a confident lover boy with a shy and anxious wall flower. They complement each other so well and watching Issac handle Aspen's anxiety is heart melting. Another thing I love is how teh book shows the couples development past getting together. We see them manage their first conflict and stand up for each other, which makes me love them as a couple even more.
Even with its flaws, I love this book and I proud of this author for publishing her first book. This book defiantly deserves more attention.
