'Social media is ridiculous. You'd think the whole world lives and breathes on someone's posts and photos. Nothing of any real importance in the world can be achieved if mortals insist on dancing for followers.'

But what if social media does count?
Mnem has everything. A glamorous lifestyle, beauty, family, and immortality. But she doesn’t have a social media platform. Or followers. Or relevance. Which is why Mnemosyne, goddess of remembrance and mother of the nine muses, is fired. And 3 other goddesses find themselves in the same position.

Misery brought them together, misery is keeping them together. Mnemosyne, Inna, Phra Naret and Axtis must now figure out how to solve the problem of their newly gifted mortality.

After getting over their initial shock, they struggle with acceptance. After all, who would have though goddesses can be down-sized?!

Take the goddess of memory, wisdom and knowledge for instance. The world will always need her right?! Wrong! The world doesn't need her talents anymore. Because they have the internet.

So it is that, for the first time in their exceptionally long life, the goddesses were clueless about what to do. Absolutely, positively horrifyingly clueless. And they hated their new life.
They felt lost, with no direction and no reason to get up every morning.

'My life is over. I'm living on borrowed time. I've been dismissed, defunded, defrocked and disgraced. I've been thrown off the immortality cliff. Tossed in a mortal ocean with no life preserver.'

But slowly they realise they need to change themselves. With a bit of honest self-reflection, like a pointed arrow. 'The bullseye to their heart.' With quite a bit of anger, a good measure of determination and a hell lot of heart. They all reach the same conclusion.

'We'll reinvent ourselves. ...
We'll join today's hip new crowd. Be the In people.'

But not only that. To survive, the ex-goddesses will also need to get a job. An ordinary mortal job. And not just any job, mind. One that fills their soul. And all they need to do to achieve that is to figure out how to use their goddess gifts and serve again.
But can they? After all, they were failures with divine powers and immortality. How can they hope they'll be and do better as mere mortals?

As our four ex-goddesses struggle to find friendship, love, and purpose, mortals get in the way. Sexy, obnoxious and dangerous mortals. Mortals for whom they will NOT fall. Too bad their hearts don't want to listen. :D
If they'll succeed and how, I'll leave that for you to find out but know that their lives take an unexpected turn with an epic decision at one time. One with deadly consequences. And it's gonna be one hell of a ride!

Fast paced and beautifully written in a flawless prose, this book is a fun, laugh out loud, sweet and sassy tale that will also have you thinking about the beauty, meaning and purpose of your own life.

'If I have to die then I want to have achieved something. Be somebody. I want to have a life with purpose.'

What is important and what matters? What does it take for us to be happy? Autumn Bardot and her goddesses will make us all reflect on it, one way or another. The internal reflection and self-discovery of the characters, so beautifully done, will have each reader out there look a little bit inside their own heart too.
Fabulous characters that leap of the page with a wonderful dynamic; a unique and unusual plot that seamlessly mixes ancient mythology with modern technology, sass, fun and laugh out loud moments, suspense and drama, as well as love - this book has it all and more. It is empowering and inspiring and so very appropriate for our times.

'Mortality addled our brains.'
'No. It gave us more heart.'

If you are in a mood for a fun read full of meaning that's both timeless and unique, give this book here a try and you won't be dissapointed.
It's downright divine!

Happy reading everyone
and may all your wishes come true.

'I wish for peace and purpose.
I wish for harmony and direction.
I wish for kindness and hope.
I wish for faith and determination.'

This i received as part of the Review Team for the author.

And I love her stories, thank the goddess I was there, this one it's so explosive in a way, totally got enthralled as soon as I read the plot.

It was a interesting and fresh idea for me at this year and there's so much fun on the book apart of drama and other things, but life is exactly like that a rollercoaster of emotions everyday.

I identified with all the goddesses really Mnen was a source of inspiration really, she was very strong headed but knew in he heart that she deserved better and just wanted to be happy, I'm embraced Naret, she is the calm I'm achieving after so long of being in conflict with the world and with my inner self, Inna was awesome too totally love her, she loved herself and loved the good things in life and just wanted a little commitment from life and got it, Axtis I think reflects me perfectly, I'm always at war in my head in should or shouldn't do something but at last you find a perfect path.

One thing the book conveyed very strongly it's the urgency of mortal life, we live too short a live to be always angry or mourning after something, we should live to our fullest and just go ahead and be happy in this blink of an eye we are living in.

The twist at the end I didn't see that one coming but it was awesome totally love it, I do hope we get to see more about this goddesses in the future.

Autumn Bardot is a multi-genre author who writes stories about fearless women and dangerous passions.

In this wildly entertaining latest installment, Goddess Inc., about immortals whose popularity and relevance is sinking by the minute. These ‘has been’ goddesses find themselves fired and are now living a mortal life which means their glamorous lifestyle is now a thing of the past.

Not forgetting they were once powerful goddesses after all, they decide to have a platform, be ever present in social media, and gain those followers to be relevant again.

In the heart of this story is about the strength and courage of women who will do whatever it takes in the face of adversity.

This was such a fun and laugh out loud read about love, friendships, and what matters most.

Thank you to the publishers - Xpresso Book Tours – for giving me access to this book as an E-ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Such a fun read! This is what I would call a "Sunday book", like it’s an easy, fun read perfect for a Sunday. Nothing too horrible happens and you know it'll probably end happily. If I’m to compare Bardot’s book to any other book, I’d compare it to the books of Swedish author Jonas Jonasson, this has a sort-of similar vibe to me.

This book is about a group of goddesses - Greek goddess Mnemowyne, Hausa (Nigerian) goddess Inna, Persian/Iranian goddess Axtis Khan and Thai goddess Phra Naret who are all stripped of their divinity and are forced to go around as mortals. They are looked upon as "irrelevant", and not believed in anymore in the eyes of the divine organisation FEM which impasse all goddesses from all different religions all over the world. Our quartet know they have to do something to live off and thusly they start looking around for work that fit them. As they all are thousands of years old they have a lot of knowledge in different fields (although with no paper trails – this is a smallish plot line that I would have developed more as its interesting!) to prove their knowledge in subjects such as history, mythology and language. The books’ title “Goddesses Inc.” is the company/blog our quartet starts to get a foundation to survive in the mortal world.

If I have one critique it would be that the conflict – these four being sacked and a plot line about someone stealing genuine historical artifacts and replacing them with fakes – isn’t that developed even though both conflicts are very interesting and something that I would have liked to have more information on. The sacking of the four characters is a present part but the conflict with the artifact is a bit .. forgotten – I think this plot line could have a larger part of the story as a whole without making it into a detective story. I also think that Phra Naret doesn’t get as much attention as the other three (ex)goddesses which sometimes makes me think what her purpose is in the story.

As stated in my first paragraph, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Fun, quite witty and just what I needed right now! Perfect summer read.

I was blown away by this amazing new release. Ancient goddesses living in my lifetime. what a fantastic novel. Each goddess had her strengths and weaknesses just like normal humans and I connected with them all. This novel was tough to put down, even just to grab a drink. I was hooked immediately.

The whole concept of this story was so engaging and well written, it didn't want it to end. I really hope Autumn writes another about these amazing goddesses/women. This novel would also make a fantastic movie too!!!

descriptiondescription

Contemporary meets Mythology! This is a book that will make us all believe that Gods and Goddesses walk among us!

Goddesses Inc. is four "demoted" goddesses who had to find a way to "live on" in the mortal world after being deemed as "redundant." These now ex-goddesses did not see the demotion coming and were ejected from FEM (Female Energy Macrocosm) immediately. It was what anyone being "fired" would go through - every privilege revoked, frozen, blocked, or inaccessible upon exit of the FEM building.

Told through multiple perspectives, each characters' voices were clear, easy to relate to, and unique. Their voices and perspectives match the ex-goddesses' powers and virtues, even after being stripped of their divinity. The writing is honest, "humbling," and, at times, raw. Each character learns on their own what needs to be done while at the same time, pulls the support of the other demoted goddesses for physical and emotional support.

The saying "when one door closes, another door opens" runs true to the story. These goddesses had to go through a lot of internal reflection, self-discovery and find that inner strength to go through the "next phase" of their mortal lives. It was heartbreaking at first since these goddesses never had to worry about human problems like money and mortality. Some of them went through a few "weak moments" in the book. But with conviction and not succumbing to self-pity, each one pushed and overcame these "dark emotions."
Their excitement, passion, and determination in their new journeys "sparkled" through the pages as each starts finding ways to be "relevant" again. I was thrilled with delight as these characters grow, develop, and shine. Each goddess seems to excel in something that they did not realize until someone pointed it out to them or hired on the spot! It is a fantastic sight when it happens - a renewed hope that things are looking up for them. The author did justice in "job-placing" each goddess into jobs that were more prolific to the respective characters.

This book will treat Mythology fans because it talks about goddesses not commonly referred to in most stories. These goddesses are still important to discover or rediscover. There are many connections made between art and mythology. The author's love of the arts mixed with mythology is evident in each goddess's conversations. Readers will enjoy (and love) the connections, traditions, and beliefs shared in the book, if not be enthralled with its origins.

I love the plot twists intertwined in the goddesses' lives and intersected midway through the book - mystery, suspense, drama, "big choices," and love. It dived deep into what every person would want, human or "others," to "feel," remembered, and with a purpose. Although each ex-goddess contributed to helping solve their problems, it is from their internal reflections that they found "the answer" all along. They each discover their worth and influence unto the mortal world that is far more immeasurable than the deity world can offer. Their connections, mortal or otherwise, and the uncertainty of time is what makes life worth living.
Kudos / big applause to the author for her philosophical and spiritual points all over the book! Wonderfully weaved a complex plot, conflict, and resolution, the story will gut and shock readers, but the best part had to be the ending with all the revelations!

In summary, Goddesses Inc. is an empowering book about second chances, women support, and rediscovery from not only one but four strong, resilient and determined female protagonists. This theme is appropriate and current - wherein we have and the limitations we are now faced. I love this book a lot since I saw myself in their position at various times of my life, and it invigorated me in ways that I forgot. The highs of new, rediscovered, and reinvigorated passions are the best motivators of reinvention. The author gets the theme very well and successfully executes this in each of the goddesses' scenes. This book will make readers realize that no matter what stage in your life you are at, there is always room to reinvent, reinvigorate and redesign your life. Take a chance for a change and adapt to the times. You are the authors of your lives, and you face forward with the change.

"Who have you helped recently? " Is a theme in Goddesses, Inc. by Autumn Bardot. It emerges when four lesser known goddesses are downsized from FEM prior to a merger. In our mortal world this kind of thing happens all the time. It hasn’t happened in the immortal world.
So, four goddesses from various cultures around the world are asked to prove their relevance by stating their social media presence at least and if not that – what have they done lately for the world of mortals. Because they can’t state exactly what they have done lately or attest to mortals need for them they are granted mortality and a push out the door.
After much angst and depression at their fate, they begin to band together to at least provide company to each other if they are doomed to mortality. They navigate their now terminal lives and romances but more than that, they begin to sell natural products for mortals to consume. In doing so they become a close sisterhood. They learn to survive and thrive in their new settings, but also become aware that the world of mortals does need them as ethical examples of how to do well in the face of adversity.
At first I didn’t care for the surfacy, materialistic portrayal of the goddesses (aren’t women more than the fashions or products they choose?) but grew to like them as they grew and adapted to a world in which they indeed became relevant.

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastique book, very majestic story about how four goddess from different background was fired and now needs to navigate through mortal life. The story is very "Sex and the City" -esque, about love, career, friendship, etc.

Out of the four goddesses, I was particularly drawn to Inna's storyline, and thought it was the most captivating.

Goddesses Inc by Autumn Bardot was a fancinating plot with elements of historical fiction, romance and mythology. It was brilliant and I loved it!

5/5 stars.

Mnem is the Goddess of remembrance, and the mother of nine muses.. er.. was. She was the goddess, until she was fired for having no platform, or relevance to the modern world. Three other goddess, Naret, Axie, and Inna were also fired, and together they have to navigate their new mortality; the ability to be injured, human emotions, including love, and facing the fact that they’re going to die.

Something that has been huge for me recently in my reading, has been diversity, so I’m going to start there. The diversity in this book was so incredible! We had Greek Nigerian, Thai, and Persian Goddesses. The diversity was off the charts, and there was so much representation that it was incredible. Not to mention the history. Autumn is a historical fiction writer, but the amount of research that must have gone into this book is so impressive. Goddesses I have never heard of, that I now love with all of my heart!

The plot of this book is so unique, and so much fun. I loved the concept of goddesses becoming mortal and having to figure out the modern day world. They were all so clever, and it made for such an interesting story.

The writing style was beautiful and so easy to follow. It was well written, well thought out, and so easy to binge read!

The romance was easy to cheer on. The characters were so well built and so loveable. I’m having a hard time recommending this one to any specific preferred genre, because it was just so easy for me to be pulled in and to love every second of it.

(Ps... Please make this a series! I need more of this world!)

I just love this author's writing style and story building. In her Historical fiction, she makes you feel as if you are there with the characters. This book was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be tales of old time Goddesses in the ancient world. Well, imagine my surprise to find out that they live among us and interact in our everyday lives. They are ruled by a supreme ruler- SHEE and the Gods are ruled by HEE! It's run like a corporation. The characters have to make some serious decisions when they are fired for not being relevant. They are demoted to Human lives and lose their powers. What a shock that is for the formerly ultra rich, carefree ladies. What they are able to accomplish is amazing and you'll love Mnemosyne, Inna, Phra Naret and Axtis as they learn to live as mortals and navigate the world as mortals see it. Some of their reactions are funny and some make you cry but all in all a very fun story to read. It was a nice change of pace and I'm sure you'll love it too.

I absolutely love this book. From the first few pages I've been obsessed, and couldn't stop thinking about it when I wasn't reading. I have always been a big reader, but there are only a handful of times I have come across a book that takes hold of me like this one.
I definitely recommend this, I'd give it 6 stars out of 5.

I loved this book❣️
Started it and couldn’t put it down.
With the title of “Goddesses Inc” you have to suspect a novel with a feminine ideology. But you get more. You get a novel that is fun, is engaging and leaves you asking for a sequel.
Thank you again Autumn Bardot for a great read.

I absolutely loved reading Goddesses Inc. By Autumn Bardot!

I was instantly drawn to the cover. The beautiful illustration style and color choices fit the feeling of the read so perfectly!

Autumn Bardot has a writing style that is uniquely her own and kept me turning the pages. Whether you go into the read knowing anything about mythology or not, the author does a fantastic job making sure an understanding is written into the story itself of who everyone is and even the pronunciation of the main character’s name! I appreciated that I didn’t have to skip to a glossary each time I had a question about something; it was all right there in the text and the information was to the point and felt seamlessly like a part of the story.

Previous reviews have compared this book to Sex in the City. I would also like to add that this is a great book for those who enjoy Bridget Jones’s Diary because in this read even Goddesses can snag their shoe heel on the way to a stressful meeting and worry about the possibility of their stomach gurgling during that meeting! I also enjoy books where a whole magic system is happening secretly within a real world setting and recommend this book to others who enjoy stories in that genre as well.

It was a freeing feeling to vicariously enjoy window shopping and retail therapy right along with them from the comfort of my home. I had fun tracking all the brand names listed throughout like Louis Vuitton and Gucci, and I excitedly read as sustainable and charitable business and product choices were given value as well.

"Who have you helped recently? " was asked a couple times within the read among the Goddesses. It was refreshing that the relevancy of the Goddesses was not only measured by the idea of social media numbers but had moral standards behind it as well.

This is a well-balanced read that gracefully tackles huge, realistic, and serious subject matters, but still remains a light, and fun story about friendship
and characters you can laugh with along the way!

This was the first novel I have read by Autumn Bardot while Goddesses Inc. was featured in Book Club-Hosted by Heather Skinner and I am excited to continue to read more of this author’s fantastic work! While this story has a complete and great ending, I would definitely be interested to see this become a series! I want to know what happens next, more about other goddesses who are a part of FEM building, and even about what was happening in the other merging building of Gods that were fired at the same time as the Goddesses were in this book’s timeline!

Everyone eventually runs out of luck, even the divine.

Goddesses Inc. features four goddesses from different pantheons who were fired for no longer being "relevant" in the eyes of society. Mnemosyne (Mnem for short, from Grecian mythos), Inna (from Hausa, or Nigerian mythos), Phra Naret (aka Naret, from Thai mythos), and Axtis (or Axtie, from Persian/Iranian mythos) bond in their commiseration. Adjusting to a mortal life is more difficult than any of the goddesses want to admit. Mnem is constantly searching for meaning, Inna has to cope with the mortal feelings for her super famous basketball star boyfriend, Naret has to decide if her job is really what she wants to do, and Axtie copes with an overly flirtatious professor and his jealous wife. The foursome eventually decides to create a brand called Goddesses Inc. that features companies and items that are unique and divine while also remaining ethically sourced.

This is my first experience reading something from Bardot, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Being able to see the narrative through all four goddesses' eyes was really interesting, I will say the occasional side character POV did throw me off, but it was very easy to get right back on track. Bardot included enough of their mythological background to keep it true. The contemporary twist on the more unfamiliar divinity was so cool, especially the appearance of Mnem's daughters, the Nine Muses. This plot had more twists than I was expecting, but Bardot tied up most of the loose ends really well. I wouldn't mind reading a novella about where these four are six months later. This book is the perfect book to pack for a road trip. Goddesses Inc. is a heart-warming story of the power that friendship can have and how important (and beneficial) it is to stick to your morals.

Overall rating: 4/5

Fun story.

Four ancient goddesses from Persia, Greece, Thailand, and Nigeria have had their magic taken away from them because they are no longer relevant. In other words, they do not have any social media fixture or followings. They have lost their immortality but not sure when they will die like other mortals. These four goddesses form a support group in trying to live in a mortal world.

First of all, they have to get a job since they can no longer depend on goddesses, inc to support them. But, in all the centuries they've lived, they have never had a job. And, what do they do about resumes?
They find work and they find love. But, will it all unravel?

I enjoyed this fun book. It shows that women can support each other during trials and tribulations and celebrate their victories.

I just finished Goddesses, Inc. by Autumn Bardot. I loved this book! Four Goddesses get fired and become mortal. They have to figure out how to deal with human emotions, frailty and how to earn a living. I was invested in each of the women and rooted for their success. I felt their lows and highs. Autumn did such a good job creating believable characters and the world they lived in. She kept me turning the pages quickly, needing to find out what would happen next. Although I was sorry the book ended, I thought Autumn ended the story well. I highly recommend this book and this author.

A solid 3.5 stars. This was an easy, breezy, entertaining read about 4 goddesses that are all expelled from immortality due to not being relevant anymore. I found the characters engaging, and in some ways this is the Sex in the City of mythological goddess.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read an advanced copy of this. My opinions are my own and never influenced by anyone. Ever.

'Even goddesses get fired'

'Goddesses Inc.' by Autumn Bardot is a fantasy-fiction that has the most unique storyline I've come across till date that'll hook you from the beginning. I loved the characters Bardot created, they're bold, unstoppable and extraordinary.; they're goddesses. The goddesses have been forgotten by the mortals, with no following and remembrance they were fired and sent to the mortal realm.

'Divinity was their destiny. Now mortality is their fate.'

Mnemosyne, the goddess of remembrance, Inna, a Nigerian goddess, Axtis, a Persian goddess and Phra Naret, a Thai goddess find themselves in the mortal world, having to build their life from scratch. They lost their divinity and now must find a way to survive among humans. The story takes us on an adventure as the lost goddesses try to navigate their way through meddling mortals and try to find a way back to their own selves. On this path of self-discovery, they must succeed & as ex-goddesses that's quite an uphill battle.

Goddesses Inc. is that perfect sunday summer read that you'll love reading over several mugs of coffee.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this title.

What happens when four goddesses are stripped of immortality and their powers? Mnem and her friends are about to find out.

I found this to be a fun read that speaks more of women finding their gifts and worth than divinity. At the heart of it, it's about femininity in all it's forms and how sometimes, losing all we know and are used to can be the blessing we didn't know we needed. I liked the characters and found them to be well-rounded. Even though I had never heard of these goddesses, the brief backstory on them was interesting. All in all, this was a good read that I would recommend.

4 and 1/2 stars

I loved reading this story. There was a bit of everything. It was a bit like Sex in the City with a bit less sex but lots of female friendship and sisterhood. I loved how the goddesses formed a tight knit group and recognised that they were stronger together than apart. There was also a bit of Nancy Drew too with Mnem being a bit of a detective when she suspected something suss happening in her workplace.

Autumn Bardot always adds lots of depth and detail into her stories that I always feel like I'm learn without realising it. She included some beautiful and meaningful messages in this tale. Even though they were goddesses, their struggles in having to start again can be applied to our own lives. The struggles felt by the goddesses are felt by many people in trying to adapt to a changing world and finding your new place in it. The goddesses had such poise and grace. They lost their divinity but the very essence of who they were remained. They stayed true to themselves and their values. I absolutely loved this about them and wish to be more like them. They struggled but they maintained a sense of strength within themselves. The story also looks at our world and how elements have remained or are repeated throughout the ages. And not all of them good. But there is still hope.

I would have liked a bit more Nancy Drew elements in the story especially with Mnem and her investigation. A bit more drama and suspense here would have been great. Also, I would have liked a bit more detail about the characters and their fate at the end of the story. These are minor complaints and perhaps a bit greedy of me to want more but I'm just really interested to see what became of them. I still loved this story and found it moving and inspiring.

Four immortal Goddesses are summoned to meet with Shee, their boss. The four women find themselves declared irrelevant and no longer needed in the modern world and suddenly find themselves fired. None of them even knew a goddess could be fired!

Mortal, they are now faced with all the needs, risks, and requirements of a mortal life. How will they support themselves? What skills do they really have to survive in the modern world? What can an ancient ex-goddess even really do?

I loved reading this book. Mythology and history have always interested me, and this book combines both in a way that has you rooting for the 4 women who had & lost everything they thought was important, and needed to reinvent themselves in a modern world. Watching them grow from shallow & relatively thoughtless to kind, thoughtful, and caring individuals was very enjoyable and cheered my day.

While I feel it could have used another round with an editor, the story itself more than made up for it, completely capturing my interest and holding it throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mythology and stories where the characters have to find ways to begin over again unexpectedly and without the advantages they never expected to be without.

EDITED TO ADD: I've recently spoken with the author and what I had received was an early review copy. The book did go through another round with the editor before publication, so the errors I notice should have been corrected already.

This was a fast, fun, summer read. Although the plot was a bit predictable, the four main goddess characters were drawn from a variety of cultures and their growth was sweet. The pacing was a little bit off-- the narration would say several weeks had passed between scenes, but it felt like the plot happened over the course of only a few days-- but not enough to really detract from the overall reading.

An optional purchase, but a good suggestion for young-ish adults who were in the first wave of Rick Riordan readers.

Mnem has everything. A glam life, beauty, family, and immortality. But she doesn’t have a platform, followers, or relevance. Which is why Mnemosyne , goddess of remembrance and mother of the nine muses, is fired.
It’s American Gods meets Sex In The City and Gossip Girl!👠
