The beast within!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🦁🦁🦁🦁
Narrator: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Jayda - She is the daughter of Doctor Cerberus, one of the doctors at the Chimaeram Clinic, high in the Rocky mountains and only accessible by helicopter. She comes to visit at the request of her father.

The Hero: Marcus - He was one of the patients of the Chimaeram Clinic. He escaped, but lately has been back in the Rocky mountains, hanging around the clinic. He was trying to keep his humanity. He strives to remember who he was and what things are called. Most of the patients who escaped have gone feral and he is trying to keep that from happening.

The Story: Marcus watches the clinic, sees the “meat sacks” as he calls the humans that surround the clinic. He watches the helicopter come and go, dropping off people and supplies. Marcus is full of rage and when he sees and smells Jayda get off the helicopter and sees her hug the doctor, he knows he can use her for revenge.

The story is told in multiple points of view (Dr. Chimera, Jayda, Marcus), via solo narration and narrated by Troy Duran. He does a terrific job as usual. I like it better when there are a male and a female narrator, especially if the book is done in duet narration, but for solo narration, Troy is one of my favorite narrators.

Jayda sees bringing in Marcus as a challenge, so she goes out to speak with him and he kidnaps her. She is the one that brings his humanity back. I didn’t like Jayda because she treated Marcus like he was he personal plaything, like calling him kitty and she was contrary in that she would immediately do whatever someone told her not to do, she just seemed very young and I just didn’t like her attitude.

We find out later that Jayda has a rebellious past which ended with her nearly dying and becoming one of the clinics most successful experiments. The story was good in that it was totally different than the first two books in the series but wasn’t as good as the other two books, mostly because I just didn’t like Jayda’s personality. I did like Marcus and his back story though.

The Lionman Kidnapping by Eve Langlais

Poor Marcus. Those illegal experimental injections have made him more than a man. Roar! As he hides outside the remote building in the mountains, he waits to have his revenge. Then he smells something delicious which turns out to be Jayda, the evil doctor’s daughter. Jayda has her own ideas of what Marcus can do for her and it’s not in the regulations book either.

Paranormal romance, Chimera Secrets series book 3. Humorous, sexy and a fast read.

On the simplistic side, or animalistic maybe, we get a description of the helicopter that’s filled with guards intended to capture Marcus.
“Giant metal bird in the sky, it’s belly full of meat sacks”.
The meat sacks phase is used often and cracks me up every time!

I listened to the audio version by Troy Duran. He did a good job with the lion man roars. His female voice was a bit prissy but that’s pretty much what the dialog was so it fit. I enjoyed his diction and delivery.

Another 3.5 star read.

Lessee... the H has issues, mostly due to having been - prior to the treatments - a scrawny dweeb with a receding hairline (well, that's how the book described him). He was the sort who would have lived in his mother's basement if his mother had been a tolerale human being. He ended up in the treatment program, not of his own volition, but because he had a car accident and was on life support. His mom essentially sold him to Chimera. So... he has no idea what he looks like now; just that he has all these animalistic urges, and also no idea how any of this happened.

The h...is a free roaming experiment, and also the daughter of one of the Drs. She fried her brain from drug use and has not much of a conscience. She's called in to fetch the H, who has been roaming wild, just outside the lab.

Issues I had - he was a little too forgiving of a woman who injected him with tranquilizers multiple times (including the point where he was recaptured). She was just a little too...cold blooded about it.

There are other issues, relating to the series in general but they can wait for that last book.

The Lionman Kidnapping

As always, this author's characters included a very sassy and off the wall female and a strong willful male. Marcus has been living in the woods surrounding the clinic after his escape. When he kidnaps Jayda, who happens to be the daughter of Dr.Chimera's associate, she distracts him long enough to sedate him so he can be returned to the clinic. He will either hate her or thank her for her underhanded betrayal. I really enjoy reading this author's books. I always know they will be fabulous and keep me riveted to the end.

Jayda ruined the book for me tbh. I just couldn't like her. Hated her personality so much.

5/5 - This series is so freaking good! Sexy and funny. Completely binge worthy.

If you like steamy PNR but craving different supernatural creatures besides the go-to vamps, shifters, and dragons - this is a series you should check out.

Kitty, I mean Marcus, is the perfect grumpy hero. Jada is the perfect strong heroine. She's not a bitch about being able to take care of herself (she can she's part hyenas) but she doesn't try to better than her Lionman, they are true equals.

Marcus has lived more feral animal than man had hilarious names for very human things; like, metal birds for helicopters and meat packets for humans. It's just the comedic timing and sarcasm that makes me laugh out loud. All the books in this series are steamy and sarcastic.

I loved how this grumpy man and at times OTT horny heroine heal each other. Love conquers all in this HEA.

The set up for the next book... Chimera, himself! His mad scientist lab is burned down and in ruins and now he has to start over?

Luke and Margaret are still in the wind.

Jett and Becky... Where are they? Did they make it out from the lab exploding?

I need answers!!!

So Enjoying This Series

What do you get when you cross a nerdy geek with feline DNA?
A victim of a car accident Marcus is sold to Chimera and experienced on. He became a new man. Literally. Depression has overtaken him and he believes himself to be a monster.
Experimented on by her father, Jayda is in her own class. Beautiful and deadly she does as she pleases driving her father crazy. Yet she is the one called to corral the beast living by the Clinic.
The story unfolds showing Marcus that he only needs to learn control. Then an attack ensues.
This book continues where the last one left off in the continuing work and research at the clinic. One required by both scientists for different reasons. I couldn't put it down!

Oh my RAWR I love this series.

This is Marcus and Jayda story. Marcus is now a monster on the edge of being feral. He wants revenge and he thinks the way to get it is to kidnap the doctors daughter. Jayda is no helpless damsel. When her daddy calls asking for help for one of the escaped projects she agrees to help. What she doesn't agree to is the way she reacts to him. Marcus captured again just wants to die and he would if one certain female would quite yapping in his ear. Can Marcus find his way back to the living? Can Jayda find a place in her heart for one as broken as Marcus? man this book keep me on the edge of my seat. I love this series.

Kitty loves to play

Before Dr Chimera got his hands on Marcus, he was a weedy nerdy geek, who’s been in an accident.
How, he was a lionman, literally, and Jayda, daughter of Dr Cerberus, has been called back to the complex to get him back and train him to control his animalistic tendencies.
As the story expands, we find out more about Jayda, her dad and Dr Chimera.
Part hunt, part romance, part mad scientist, all fun.

3.5 stars. I didn't like this one quite as much as the last two, but it's still a fun read with an interesting back story (continuing in the next book) and steamy romance scenes. Marcus was a compelling hero (love a lion shifter) and we knew heaps about him, but I didn't like Jayda at all. She was pretty closed off and mysterious. I look forward to reading the next book in the series featuring Adrian. 🙂

More secrets revealed over the course of this story, and I was glued to it to learn them! These two definitely have a pull between them, though neither really gets it at first. It builds and over time, and even when they get it, they don’t. The strength of will by both of these characters is so strong, they don’t see, or won’t admit what is right in front of them. By the very end, they get it, and settle in to live as they wish, or so they think 😉

I am completely unable to get into this book, purely based on the fact that i HATE Jayda…. why is she so…horrible and conniving? usually i’m complaining about the MALE love interest, not the female main character. but from the beginning she’s treating him like shit and being so ignorant to how he feels like he hasn’t been treated awfully by her “daddy” and made into a monster against his will….. i almost feel like i’m missing something because surely the FMC can’t be that unlikeable right!? 🤯

Witty, sexy, and a totally bada$$ heroine

The third book in the Chimera Secrets series was epic! There was so much action and wonderfully bloody scenes, steamy character interactions, cameos/mentions of previous characters, and some seriously unexpected twists! All in all, Lionman Kidnapping was exactly what I have come to expect from this author; AWESOME.

Cute fun series. Reminds me of the 'B' movies I used to watch on a black and white TV after midnight. Just didn't feel this heroine. I did eventually warm up to her, but not as much as the others in this series.

Nice relaxing read for doctor's office or while on hold waiting for the IRS to pick up.

This is a very interesting series and the more books I read the more the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. When I started this series, I was just expecting a paranormal romance, but each book has a lot more going on than that and there are a lot of secrets at this facility Left to be uncovered.

Hot and Steamy!!

Goodness this was so good. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Can’t imagine what a world would be like if we had mad scientists like Adrian. Jayda was bad ass. Marcus and Jayda were great together. I’m glad they ended up together. Someone for each other to love. Can’t wait to read the next one. Chimera’s Revenge. Should be another good one. 🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊

Love when she does BWWM stories

I really liked this book. It is funny with a bark sense of humor. With a lot of smh ( shaking my head) moments for the lead characters.
For me, the interracial factor makes the book that much better.

This is a different twist on the shifter lion seizing his mate. The typical shifter romance has the prospective mate putting the shifter through his paces to prove himself worthy. This one turns the tables rather throughly. Fun!

Kidnapped By The Lion!!!

Marcus never asked to become a beast. The doctors at the Chimaeram clinic he escaped from were terrible people. The only way for him to stay human was by the touch of the beautiful, smart and captivating woman he kidnapped as a revenge against one of the doctors who'd tortured him.

He found himself drawn back to that horrible place. He kidnapped Jayda, who was Dr Cerberus's daughter. He wanted the lead doctor to pay for what he'd done to him. He never thought about what having her close to him meant.

They were both attracted to each other, and as their relationship developed from friends to lovers. They discovered that they were more alike than Marcus thought. When the clinic was attacked, Jayda and her father were both taken and her lionman did everything in his power to save her.

Adrian had to face the fact that people have noticed him and what he was doing at his clinic. After the attack, he destroyed his lab and moved to another location. It was great to get a mention of some old characters and meeting new ones. Marcus and Jayda got their HEA.

THE LIONMAN KINDNAPPING is the third book in Eve Langlais' CHIMERA SECRETS series. It was humorous, action-packed and a must read. Eve Langlais keeps surprising me with each book. Looking forward to what she has in store for us next.
