A surprisingly decent intro with minimal fluff. It isn't the most rigorous text out there, and I noticed a couple of errors (an especially dangerous one regarding caffeine intake). Similarly, I felt that the part on saturated vs unsaturated fats was cursory and misleading. For example, as per the book, getting 30% of the daily calories from saturated fats is okay, which is significantly more than AHA's recommended 5-6%. However, it is definitely worth a read if you're getting started.
The author gives a scientific basis for quantified nutrition. The initial part deals with basics knowledge of metabolism followed by a step wise plan for making a nutrition chart for yourself. The author also discusses solutions to some commonly faces issues with quantified nutrition like how to manage meals while traveling. Overall this book is a guideline and practical approach to quantified nutrition. There is also a section on exercise and supplements.
#qotd Are you a fitness enthusiast? What is your daily fitness routine?
As far as I've experienced almost all self-help books illustrate what we've already aware of in such a way that we can follow it more deliberately on a regular footing. Some books are tremendous, some are wholly horrible.
In the initial chapter author solely explained the science of food and fitness, along with side bursting all widespread fitness myths and misconceptions.
What's different in this book? It has diet and Nutrition planners, more importantly, it clarifies the scientific facts behind weight lifting, diet, nutrition intake. It emphasizes on alteration of your relationship with qualified nutrition and exercises forever in a good way.
This book not only reiterates the lifestyle changes but also gave insights into what happens scientifically when we follow any lifestyle. It also explains how weight loss and fat loss are way too different aspects.
I had very high expectations from this book because it's written by the vastly commemorated fitness entrepreneur, but ended it up like I was reading the mineral and nutrition chapter of the class 11th biology textbook. I appreciate and admire how JC has revolutionized the fitness world globally and helped more than 2,00,000 lives, but this book is not up to the mark. This book could have been better. Extremely basic, extremely usual.
“Lose Fat Get Fittr” by Jitendra Chouksey is a practical guide that demystifies fitness and nutrition for readers seeking sustainable health improvements. The book shines in its ability to simplify complex fitness concepts into digestible, actionable advice. Chouksey’s conversational tone, backed by personal anecdotes and real-world examples, makes the journey relatable, whether you’re a beginner or someone with prior fitness experience.
The book’s standout feature is its focus on science-backed principles, debunking common myths about dieting and exercise. The emphasis on sustainability and flexibility in fitness plans, rather than fad diets, is refreshing and pragmatic. The inclusion of relatable success stories adds motivational value, inspiring readers to stay committed.
However, the book is not without its flaws. While the approach is holistic, some sections feel overly simplified, leaving readers craving more depth, especially on advanced nutrition or workout strategies. Additionally, the focus on calorie tracking might not resonate with everyone, as it can feel restrictive for some.
Overall, “Lose Fat Get Fittr” is an excellent resource for individuals seeking a realistic and sustainable approach to fitness. It’s a valuable read for fitness enthusiasts and beginners alike.
Fitness is not about having a toned and muscled up body it’s about overall mental , physical and emotional well being.
This book has different sections first it will tell you about the mechanism of human body, then the nutrition you require on a daily basis, how can you prepare your own diet plan, Exercise and training section that would help you to choose right type of exercise required for your body, it will help you in preparing your own workout plan and what kind of supplements you need.
The best thing that I liked about this book is that it solves all the fitness myths that have been going around since ages. This book will help you to break all these fitness myths that cause lack of motivation.
The author’s personal experience and the examples he shares would provide you the right motivation to work towards your fitness goal.
I myself I am no fitness enthusiast or health coach but being a “common man”, the one who had tried a lot of fitness plans, diets and gym training. I would say that this book is a perfect guide for someone willing to start their journey towards a fit and healthy lifestyle.
One of the better books I've read about fitness and wellness and I am glad that he uses Science to dispel a lot of myths surrounding weight loss.
BUT (and for me, this is a BIG BUT), I am not comfortable with counting calories. Never have been and never will be. I've tried it multiple times and it just doesn't work for me. I wish he had also focused on an alternative to calorie counting, keeping that group of people in mind (people like me)
Of course, the other thing I had problems with specifically was the idea that the same rules will apply to men and women. This has proved to be patently untrue, especially by women who are studying this field in depth.
In all, though, it's a good starting point for people who are keen on understanding the science of fitness and he does a fairly decent job of breaking it down. The chapter on supplements was pretty well written, in my opinion.
An amazing book by JC that cuts through all the noise and busts the common myths around fitness, dieting, and weight loss. What makes it stand out is how it simplifies the complex science behind fat loss and body transformation, making it easy for anyone to understand and apply in daily life.
The book is refreshingly honest—no gimmicks, no unrealistic promises—just practical, evidence-based insights. JC not only explains what actually works but also sheds light on the misconceptions that often keep people stuck in the endless cycle of fad diets and quick fixes.
It’s both educational and motivating, giving you the right mindset along with the right tools. Whether you’re a beginner starting your fitness journey or someone who has struggled with weight loss for years, this book feels like a trusted guide that brings clarity and confidence.
A must-read for anyone serious about lasting health and sustainable fitness.
This book helped me design my own diet plan. Now I can not only design a diet for myself, but can also change it occassionally like I can include mangoes during mango season and still stay under calorie deficit.
This book showed how I do not have to exclude food items that I love like ghee, cheese, butter, mangoes, bread, etc in order to lose fat but I stead calculate my calorie intake and adjust my portions accordingly.
This book made it clear that I shouldn't starve but eat above my BMR and below my TDEE in order to lose fat.
This book helped me design my workout plan. It also showed how fat is stored in adipose tissue and how body doesn't have a limit on how many adipose cells it can generate.
Self-help books on diet and weight control swarm the market like bees these days. There are so many authors/ dieticians/ nutritionists to choose from and there are so many ways in which the same information is being presented. It’s an embarrassment of riches! Lose Fat, Get Fittr is another such attempt that aims to guide the readers about weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Busting several myths associated with food and habits, the author deftly brings out the essence of simple living and a balanced diet.
A good book that is written by a fitness guru covering various topics ranging from diet, nutrition, exercise, supplements, etc. Although the intention behind the author is genuine, some of the ways suggested here are impractical to follow at best. Like keeping a count of what we eat, identifying a base calorie rate etc., Also, some suggestions to eat prepared food after storing in fridge is something that does not seem to go well with the energy equations of Pranic food. However, i would still give this book 4 stars as it has a lot of useful information. If you are wanting to start towards fitness journey, I would recommend Hero Maker by Duffy Gaver.
Lose Fat, Get Fittr is a refreshingly practical and a guide to fitness and fat loss. Jitendra Chouksey simplifies what most people overcomplicate—showing that sustainable fitness isn’t about fad diets or extreme workouts, but about consistency, education, and owning your choices.
What I loved most is how relatable and grounded the advice is. JC speaks from experience, and you can tell this book is written to genuinely help, not to impress. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who's been stuck in cycles of misinformation, this book cuts through the noise.
A great starting point if you’re ready to take control of your health—with clarity, not gimmicks.
This guy changed my life with a 30 page document that he had written. This book is another gem, that is a must read no matter who you are. This is virtually free education when there is so much misinformation around fitness all over.
I have put this knowledge to use and reaped tons of benefits. I bought this book just to appreciate what I had already learned from the fittr community. This book is a gist of all of that knowledge.
That one book that you need to get your fitness amd nutrition plan in action..a very easy read, concisely written without any marketing gimmickry. My go-to book for fitness (it is essentially an Indian book with Indian phrases peppered in places , but is written in English - surprisingly well with no typos, etc). Comes with a nutrition and workout plan.
I will be applying a lot of information and tools provided in the book to my life. The book is to the point and no BS. The reason for 4 star is just for promoting non vegetarian food and eggs. I think with everything going on right now with Climate change there should have been a better stance provided to avoid people to relying on these kind of food and giving more vegan options.
Taught myths & all the things needed to know in fitness. The whole book is about how quantified meals can do the magic to make you slim or increase your muscle. Very few mentions about fittr in whole book. Havent tried to sell or upsell any of the his products. Eye opening and a must read for beginners
The book is written in simple plain english. Most of the content deals with biochemistry and nutrition; and does a fair job in explaining concepts in layman terms. Recommended for people who are lost in fitness related clutter on the internet; and just want to focus on maintaining general health rather than fitness as a sport/career.
One of the best guides on how to adopt fitness as a lifestyle. Debunks a lot of (harmful) myths that often confuse people aiming to become fitter. I wish I'd read this earlier. Gives very clear guidance on nutrition and exercise while explaining the importance of factors like sleep, hydration, supplements, etc. Simple, concise, science-based!
The best thing about this book is that JC has explained fitness as a process instead of special exercises, super foods and supplements. I believe i can give atleast start with template of nurtrients and exercise. Thanks!
We feel we know about all the fitness related detail but this book is truely something that one would like to know about. My recommendation is give it a shot to add to your knowledge and break all the myths. Truely a scientific way to fitness
Found him in Dr. Pal's podcast. Loved the podcast. Followed him on Instagram, loved his talks and how he relates everything to science. As a researcher myself, I like his approach, which led me to his book, which I loved as well. Will definitely be implementing some of his principles.
I would say a lot of myths are broken with this book the chapter wise division and also how jc broke down the knowledge has really helped with confidence to proceed with my fitness journey the right way
Good book to get basic knowledge about fitness and Nutrition. Someone who wants to start strength training and healthy living needs to read this before starting his journey.
