What’s not love when a quartet of cousins visit their wacky uncle’s private island, complete with horror-themed amusement park, on Halloween? The attraction is closed to the public for the night, too, so they have it all to themselves! No crowds! No lines! No waiting! A personal tour guide to take them around from attraction to attraction! But then, one by one, they start feeling not-so-well. Strange things seem to be happening. Is that a real werewolf lurking around in the shadows? Miss Penny’s only wearing a witch outfit, isn’t she? “Anything’s possible when you’re spending Halloween Night on Monster Island, a fun light-hearted read I’d particularly like to see made into a graphic novel or animated feature.” ~ Christine’s Horror Fiction Reviews This is the large print edition of Halloween Night On Monster Island, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.
Why don’t werewolves participate in the Olympics? They’re afraid to win the silver medal! (A little reminder that Tokyo is on its way)
Picture this, a time where Nickelodeon ruled the television sets, furbies and beanie babies were in every home, everyone’s favourite pet was a tamagotchi, and goosebumps dominated the shelves. Reading ‘Halloween Night on Monster Island’ brought me right back to the 90’s, with its clear cut writing that resembles R.L Stine unlike any other author I have known and what can I say, it was a blast. To see further and write with dominance one must stand on the shoulders of giants. With references to ‘monster blood’, and ‘deep in the jungle of doom’, C. Roberts truely stands among giants. Our night begins when four little wanders are invited to a theme park on a far away island full of thrill rides and bright lights, think Jurassic Park but on one of the best nights of the year, Halloween! Dark and alone our wanders reach a mansion, a massive black mansion, owned the uncle of Jake, the dreaded Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Victor. Aka their host. And from there the terrohhhhh...I mean fun begins. I myself do not to well in confined spaces, at all, elevators for example and I must say goosebumps were generated, when such instances brought itself to be known, which is why I will always, ALWAYS prefer to take the stairs. Howling in the moonlight, bats fly by starlight, and a whisper of spells is the norm for this Halloween night. The night ends after dark, and this is when the real monsters comes alive and Jake and co. must endure hell on Monster Island, because that is the way the cookie crumbles.
This book is perfect for those who are looking for a quick read and would make them feel good, an entertaining story that could captivate not only the young readers of today but also those who are young at heart. If you are looking for something to read after the goosebumps series, then this is the book for you. . . . P.S The author sent me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I read this book with my 10 year old son and we absolutely LOVED it! We are big fans of the Goosebumps series and this book had R L Stine vibes, but still managed to remain original. A great bedtime read, we thoroughly enjoyed it and have jointly awarded it 5 stars ⭐️ Already excited for the sequel!
"How did everyone know the vampire had the flu? He couldn’t stop coffin!"
I really enjoyed this short book, I felt like a little kid again reading goosebumps in my school library when it was raining. The nostalgia really did hit me like a tone of bricks! No one will ever be too old to enjoy classic kids books. And even though this one is new, it really did feel like I was reading R.L stine. The authenticity and writing was incredible and I definitely recommend this book. If you read it to your kids, they are going to have a blast!
This was a free novella e-book from Amazon how I love 💘 those free books 📚!I

Halloween Night on Monster Island is a fun, middle grade read with lots of spooky jump scares and hijinks.
If you like books like Goosebumps, this book is perfect for you! This middle grade read is fast paced, has some spooky moments, and is just all around fun. It gave me R.L. Stine vibes with how easy it is to read yet how much fun it is to keep reading. Thrills, chills and magical elements make this book a great read (in my eyes, anyways).
We open up with a roller coaster ride with a dash of humour. I can hear the "click, click, click" of the chain link, which is a nice touch. The Monster Island theme park is our setting, on Halloween night. Our leads have a creepy Uncle Victor who lets them join him on his island of scares. This island is in Michigan, on a island out on the water. That's what makes it even spookier... You're stuck on the island with no way home! Well, except a boat ride. Uncle Victor is super rich and can be quite the jerk to his workers - think Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde vibes (as the book suggests).
This book has our follow a group of cousins as they try to enjoy the park, but end up getting caught in a web of lies and deceit. Lots of spooky creatures come out of the fog to make their lives miserable! Werewolf attacks, jump scares, witches and pranks are littered throughout this tale. Blood served in cups, gooey sandwiches... broken elevators, kids disappearing! So much happens in this transformation station of a book. The fantasy and magic twist at the end make it quite amusing, but it feels like it came out of nowhere.
Honestly, this is a great middle grade read! If you want a fun, Halloween-inspired tale then this book is perfect! It's a G rated, fast paced, fun book.
Four out of five stars.
Thank you to the author, Clark Roberts, for a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
Halloween Night on Monster Island is an excellent book, perfect for the Halloween season. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered a copy for my young nephew.
There’s a definite throwback feel here; it reminds me of the best of the classic Goosebumps books, especially the (personal favorite) amusement park-set original One Day at Horrorland. This nostalgia feel makes this not only a great book for younger kids, but older ones nostalgic for the fast paced, fun horror books of their youth.
And this book is fast paced. If anything, I only wish there was more of it. I would have loved even more descriptions of the rides in the park (which I wish was a real place), as well as more time spent with the Great Rufusdini. Honestly though, my only real complaint is that sometimes the lead character behaved in a way that would better suit a younger character. However, I doubt this will bother the intended (younger) audience of the book.
I can’t wait to read more books by Clark Roberts. He definitely has it in him to take up R.L. Stine’s mantle as a master of kiddie frights. I would even love more books set in the Monster Island universe. I definitely recommend this both to monster kids and former monster kids alike. It’s a fun read perfect for the Halloween season.
Thank you to Clark Roberts for sending me a free e-book in exchange for a honest review.
Halloween Night on Monster Island is a children’s book (similar in reading level and theme to R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series). I don’t have children myself, so I can’t speak from a child’s point of view, but as someone who was a Goosebumps fan as a child, I think this would make a great read for a young person getting into horror/thrillers.
In the story a group of children (siblings and cousins) visit their mysterious uncle for a private visit to his theme park, Monster Island, on Halloween night. A series of strange events follow, making them question what exactly their uncle does at his theme park. Its semi-open ended finale leaves the door open for a sequel and makes you question if everything is actually solved or just hidden. It reminds me of the better version of a story a father would imagine for his children when they ask to be told something scary. It’s not super dark, which I feel would make it appropriate to read to younger children who love monsters and Halloween without having to deal with death or violence.
**I was sent this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.**
HALLOWEEN NIGHT ON MONSTER ISLAND by Clark Roberts is such a fast-paced and fun middle grade horror book. Roberts brings in all the charm and spooks from the subgenre and crafts such an entertaining story that I think all readers will enjoy - and all ages! After growing up an avid Goosebumps fan, I am still, as an adult, constantly looking for that next nostalgic book to take me back to October as a kid, to the book fair at school, and to help remind me of why I fell in love with horror fiction. The group of kids in the book are spot on, the adults are fun and fresh, and the different settings and scenarios are so cool! The mansion, the theme park, etc... this book is guaranteed to make you smile! I look forward to more MG horror from Clark Roberts.
I was honestly a bit hesitant to read a children’s book and it is because I’m an adult, but I am really happy with the outcome of this children’s book. Clark Robert’s actually knows how to keep a child’s attention especially for those children who may have ADHD and can’t still for to long without being bored. Halloween Night On Monster Island is a fun-filled, and fast paced book that doesn’t take all that long to read and/or finish as the writing style is very similar to that of the creator of the Goosebumps series RL STINE. Halloween Night On Monster Island is a definite read for any child as the characters are definitely interesting to continue following their journey around the theme park, and the storyline is really smooth and fast paced. If you’re looking for a not so scary read for your child who might be afraid of monsters, than I highly suggest you purchase a copy as you won’t regret it. The storyline isn’t to crazy, the characters are pretty interesting as I’ve said above and most of all you won’t even come close to guessing who the hero of Halloween Night On Monster Island is going to be! This is definitely a favorite of mine and it is the children’s book to get if you don’t want to scare your kids but still want to include them on Halloween. What are you waiting for? Just buy it already! You won’t be disappointed or regret that you’ve did because at the end of the story, Clark Robert’s throws in a few Halloween activities section for your kids.
This was a fast-paced and fun Halloween-themed scary story that was reminiscent of the scary stories told around a campfire or reading Goosebumps. Four kids are going to visit their rich uncle who owns an island with a Halloween-themed theme park. While being guided around by Ms. Penny, who is dressed as a witch, strange and scary things keep happening.
This is a book that I would love to read or listen to each Halloween because it is fun for any age. The audiobook, narrated by D. Henry Hanson, was also a great listen. Hanson gave a great performance, building the tension in all the right places.
This is a terrific Goosebumps-like children's book. I bought this and read it with my 10-year-old daughter, and we both loved it. I would definitely recommend this.
The chapters were so short and with so many chapters, it took too long to really get interesting and then it was suddenly over. I couldn't even tell what age demographic the book was for. Chapter length makes it feel like it is for young kids, but the subject matter makes it feel like it is for older kids.
I was offered a free copy of this book by the author. However, it was available on Kindle Unlimited at the time and so I read it through that. All opinions are my own, genuine ones.
I was the biggest fan of Goosebumps back in the day and honestly, I still am. I was really intrigued by the premise of this book as evil theme parks and Halloween check a lot of my horror boxes, and the promise of Goosebumps-like thrills drew me in. Delightfully, this book managed to provide everything I could hope for and more.
Halloween Night on Monster Island is the story of a group of children who go to stay with their mysterious Uncle Victor for Halloween. Victor happens to own a spooky theme park called Monster Island which the kids have all to themselves, except for Victor's young assistant and the creepy park caretaker. Things start to get a little too spooky though as it seems like real monsters might be on the island.
I mean it as the biggest compliment when I say this book perfectly captures the tone and unique feel of Goosebumps. I'd actually argue it's a little better than the modern books. The cliffhangers for each chapter are more subtly done, the characters a little more fleshed out and less interchangeable. I had an absolute blast reading this book and it is perfectly designed to read to your child at night. The chapters are very short which makes it easy to make sure you can time readings and they don't go on too long, and the aforementioned cliffhangers would make a child want to keep reading on.
Overall, I cannot recommend this book more. It's perfect for the spooky season or just for the child/child at heart who loves old school Goosebumps-type stories. I was pleasantly surprised by just how good this book was and it is well worth checking out.
What a cute, sweet, and quick little read this was. I really enjoyed it, and I think younger kids would like this as well, especially because of the great Halloween setting. There is a particularly wonderful scene with a dog character near the end of the story - that was definitely my favorite part!
I would have liked a stronger ending, but that didn't impact my overall enjoyment. I would recommend this to anyone looking for some innocent Halloween fun.
Thank you to the author for providing my digital copy for review!
Visiting a carnival on Halloween. Sounds like it might be an interesting story, right?
The first few chapters deal with the rollercoaster ride. Chapter 1 focuses on the ride itself as it’s climbing up the hill. Chapter 2 focuses it on the ride itself, going through the loops and spins. Are you getting bored yet?
The read itself was okay, but not very interesting. Just what not I expected.
Just finished reading this one with my kids. They loved it and begged each night to read just one more chapter. This is exactly the type of book I loved to read as a young child. A fun piece of nostalgia to share with my own family.
It was absolutely an adorable book however it was definitely geared towards a younger audience. Now with that being said I thought the story idea was really cute for a quick and fun Halloween story.
I was looking for a fun Halloween read set at a theme park, and this book is everything I wanted! It reminded me of the Goosebumps series, written with vivid descriptions of characters, costume and atmosphere. I wanted to visit this theme park it's described so well. The story is lightly spooky aimed at younger readers, although I also loved it as an adult. I had no idea where the story was going or how it would end and the ending was a good surprise. I loved this book, the images are still in my mind long after reading, I will read the next in series. I am telling my other half how fun this book was!
This was a cute middle grade read that had me chuckling and flipping pages. I enjoyed it. Creepy but silly and definitely good for kiddos.
The only problems I had were some continuity errors and questions left unanswered. Not enough to bother most people and kids will probably not be bothered by it at all. 😜
Cute book! Mainly at middle school level. I enjoyed reading something easy and light because I have a tendency to choose books that are deeper and dark. My grandkids would love it!
This was a fun Halloween read, anytime of the year. No gore involved! 4 cousins get to visit their uncle for Halloween on his very special island home, that just happens to be an amusement park called Monster Island. They are living every kids dream, no matter your age, of having an entire amusement park all to yourself! Uncle is a bit of a prankster so the fun starts early. This book may be intended for kids but this adult truly enjoyed reading it. It's easy to get into and is a fairly quick read, but the chapters are bite size if you only have snatches of time to read I hope you give it a try, I think you'll have fun.
Not sure how this one wound up in my feed and in my library. Ratings are misleading and must have be done by family and friends. There is zero character depth. Scene settings are for naught. And the Plot itself is questionable. Look elsewhere for a “good” read.
Ahhhh so cool I loved reading it Amazing twist at the end it was so scary I thought I was actually the book please make more books it would be better if there were picture of the characters
