Attention Readers!!!! This book contains many triggers and is not for immature readers. The main character in this story starts off as unlikable but stick with her, she might just redeem herself. This book is not for people that DNF often. It is a quick read, very confusing but highly worth it once you get to the end.
Thank you!
The year is 2008, the place, San Diego, California. Avril Farva wakes up every day to live a mundane existence that she hates. She never aspired to be much, but at twenty-six, she feels there has to be more to life than what sits around her.
One day an odd fellow enters her dull existence, he introduces himself as Theodore Larkin, but Avril is suspicious of his strange demeanor and dialect. At first, she brushes him off as a loon until he refuses to give up, so she gives in; after all, he is the most intriguing person to enter her life since high school ended. That’s when things start to get weird.
The two of them are hurdled from one realm to another with no warning or explanation as to what's happening. They witness past lives, some familiar and some not so familiar, disturbing situations, uncomfortable moments, and a multitude of crimes.
On their adventures, they come up with every possibility they can about what is happening to them. In the meantime, feelings start to grow, and this unlikely duo becomes rather fond of each other.
Read this book to find out just where in the hell Avril and Theo are, releases 12/30/2021.
Leigh is a believer in fairytales, the kind that keep some people up at night. She lives in Texas with her family of gremlins and their amazing dogs. Not only does she love the heat, but she is preparing herself just in case there, in fact, will be a hell at the end of all this. Growing up, she spent most of her time in the land of fictional characters and kept her head buried in a book. With ideas continually running around in her strange mind, she decided to dip her toes into writing. Leigh published her first novel, Girl Bully (a best-selling psychological thriller), in 2020. Since then, she has published many more intensely dark and captivating novels. Many of her books can be listened to through Audible and Apple books. Leigh loves staying in touch with her fans. You can follow her through her newsletter and many social media sites. She is very active in the writing community. You can find her at an in-person signing at any point during the year, including the incredible Wild Dead Wood Reads held during Wild Bills days in South Dakota every summer. She also attends Wanderlust in San Antonio, Texas, an event known for attracting a plethora of different readers. Over the last few years, Leigh has been very busy building her career as a writer. She is a Houston Writer’s Guild member and an active in-person member/contributor to the 20 books community. She is also a sponsoring author for The Bookworm Box/Bookbonanza, a Texas-based charity bookstore, and event. As of 2022, Leigh is now an associate member of International Thriller Writers (ITW).
First I want to let you know that there is a spoiler in this book for another book. If you have not read This Family Suck! Sincerely Yours, Peter Frazier, you should read that one first.
Avril Farva is taken on a wild ride when Theodore Larkin enters her boring life. They are spun through a never-ending cycle of death and destruction with no clue as to what is happening. Join this confused yet entertaining duo on their adventures back in time and into the future. Follow their journey to discover what is happening and why these two have been chosen for this unusual task.
I am a huge fan of everything Leigh M. Hall has written. I love her dark humor, and I live for the plot twists! I had super high hopes for her fantasy debut, and she did not disappoint at all! This book takes you on a seriously wild ride. I went in fairly blind, and it was super fun to not really know what to expect. So I don’t want to say too much about the plot, but if you have a dark sense of humor and love a good super dark fantasy horror then you HAVE to read this book!
She has done it again, y’all!!! Leigh M Hall definitely knows how to write a book. Right when you think you’ve got it figured out, another twist! I cannot recommend this book enough. I finished this in just a few days. I laughed out loud. I gasped. I even yelled out “WHAT?!?!” a few times. Leigh does a great job of getting you to know and start rooting for the characters in her book. Her books are anything but predictable. There is always a twist I never expected to experience. And this one does not disappoint. I am just waiting for there to be a sequel so I can see where Avril and Theo end up next!!!
Wow! Loved the ending… loved the whole book. The description of the book described it as dark. I found the content a little dark but more entertaining, it’s a love story as well as a thriller with a dash of humor. I want to read more from this author!
This was one of the most enjoyable reads of 2021, with the most surprising end of all time. I was floored and incredulous and even started clapping 👏🏽 to the author after reading, making it kind of weird because I was by myself. But still well deserved.
In addition to it being a dark comedic fantasy, it’s also a lesson in history, which is a subject I love to learn about and loved reading about.
Very cool concept and imagination!
Very fun read and would read again and recommend many times over!
My, my, my! She has done it again! It checks all the boxes! It's funny, sarcastic, a little history, with a healthy dose of morbidity that will cater to many of genres. Please tell me there is going to be a sequel... because I need it yesterday! Avril and Theo, are a must!
Avril Farva wake up on her centuries old mattress with a severe back ache. Its 6th May 2008 thursday and she is as usual don’t want to live her boring life. The only interesting thing is the invitation from her old friend Zoe for a Tipsy party at night. After having uncountable drinks she headed toward her car and finally died in an accident……
Thursday May 6th again Avril woke up on her old mattress with a back ache and a loose tooth but what happened to her everything seems like she lived that day before. It is a coincidence but no, there is a line of coincidence but as she remembers today is friday. she got the text from Zoe for a Tipsy party everyone around her is mad or maybe she is losing her mind….. And here it comes again the horrible May 6th 2008….. What is going on she has no idea….
Theodore Larkin is a strange personality who wants to talk to Avril but she doesn't wanna talk to anyone. Only he has the explanation for everything Avril is facing….
Avril is dead or it's some kind of nightmare????
Who is Theodore and why does she appear in Avril's life????
My thoughts:
1st of all billions of thanks to the author for remembering me and adding me in her Arc readers list. And thanks for sending me this lovely book. This is my 1st fantasy book and I think it will be the last because I have never read any fantasy book before. I am a thriller reader. I read this one just because of the author and the reason is I love her writing style. She always uses easy language and her story telling style is sooo amazing.
When I started reading the book I thought it was a copy of the movie Happy death day which was released in 2017 but after a few pages the story turns out different and i can’t put my tab down as it was so interesting I ended the story in one go. The writer did a great job at describing the details and glorified the story with an amazing plot. I loved how it kept me on edge throughout the story and I felt engorged in it all the time.
It is one of my favourite books now and I love the character of Theodore. I’d give it a solid 4 out of 5 and highly recommend it to my readers and fantasy lovers. It is a beautifully written book which keeps you engaged throughout.
Yet another absolutely amazing read from this author!!! I really believe her books should be on the bestseller list. This is such a unique, darkly humorous read. Follow Avril and Theodore on dark and deadly adventures, try to figure out exactly what is going on. This is a true page-turner with some laugh out loud dark humour and you won't be able to put it down so be prepared to stay up all night. I truly enjoyed the twists and turns and I love the unique storyline. This author has a true talent for detail and fantastic storytelling. Her humour and dark side is one of the reasons I will read anything and everything she writes! This story does have a number of triggers and I don't suggest for the squeamish but for anyone who likes a twisted, dark mystery this is a must read!
This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. I enjoyed being pulled into this adventure story by the two characters, Theodore and Avril. They are great characters that really brought the story to life for me. This is a well written story that is not only engaging but also hard to put down. I enjoyed the chemistry and the growth of these characters relationship. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages fast just to find out what happened next on the adventure. The growth of the plot was great as well. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
This was one of the most cleverly written books I’ve ever read. Props to the writer for the plot. It was top notch. What an amazing concept… seriously, where the hell are we!? It had me guessing the whole time. I Can’t wait to see what Leigh writes next. Always keeps me on the edge of my seat.
You MUST listen to the audiobook book! Maxx Pinkins was phenomenal!
Holy crap buckle up for a ride. The beginning was a bit redundant but for obviously reasons. I liked how she switched it up and did not tell the story the exact same way each time. I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed the characters and as Leigh mentioned you grow to like/love Avril. I can appreciate the dark sarcastic humor and look forward to reading more from her.
I enjoy all of Leigh M. Halls books . This one did not disappoint me. It was witty , funny and a wild ride. Where the Hell are We ? Had me guessing. I was in the fantasy living every page I turned. I did not put the book down until it was finished. I loved ♥ it! Keep them coming, Dark, twisted, confusing and funny.

Thoughts: This book was a little odd for me but still good. I liked it and it held my interest. I read it pretty quickly. I didn't love the ending because because it didn't feel complete. It felt like it just randomly ended to me.. Some of the speech throughout the book was a little weird. The book to me felt like the speech would be more casual, but it wasn't. There were some really hilarious parts. I loved that you never know where they would end up. All in all I enjoyed it.
This book releases 12/30/2021. You can preorder it now on Amazon.
WOW! This book is wild and unpredictable. In true Leigh fashion, it is dark and seriously twisted. It's like a rollercoaster ride going through twists turns and tunnels until the end. I had no clue what was happening, I was just as confused as the characters Theo and Avril. Right when you think they might get some answers, BAM! They are thrown into a new crazy situation. I don't even know what category this book should fall in. It is probably the most original book I have ever read. WARNING! With all of her books, this one is crammed full of triggers and disturbing situations that are not for everyone. However, if you like them wild then this one is for you. Stick it out till the end. That ending was epic! I think I have read everything she has written now and can't wait for what comes next.

Very fun read and would read again and recommend many times over!
It was ok, until the ending. It felt like once the author hit her word quota, she no longer cared and just gave it a boring, predictable, and crappy ending. I was really hoping the characters were gonna go somewhere and be dynamic, but instead the author just ditched them. Oh, and president Biden at the end was a pathetic attempt at political satire, I guess? The name dropping just made me roll my eyes. I’m glad I didn’t buy it and I wish I could get my time reading it back.
Recommended for 18+ readers. I picked this book up at an event and had not read any of Leigh M. Hall's books. I really enjoyed the book overall. It was confusing for me to follow around with the different time skips, but overall it was a really good book. I am planning to read more of Hall's books. Avril Farva and Theodore Larkin are an unlikely duo that to me both seemed unlikable at first, but did become at the least tolerant, and I started to enjoy the story more. I still did not completely love the characters but I liked the book and found it entertaining.
This book was so much fun! It literally was a wild ride! In true Hall fashion, she keeps the shock value up front! I really enjoyed this book and the audio narrator, Maxx Pinkins, nailed it! He did a fantastic job!! I was delightfully sucked in and listened to this book in 2 days cause I needed to know what was going to happen next! This was such a unique idea for a book. The imagination that Hall has is next level stuff!
Only because the topic was new and refreshing. Throughout the whole book I was concerned there would be a problem coming up with an ending. It turns out it was a valid concern.
It was definitely written by a guy! I like how every chapter is a new opportunity for a new scene! It’s not boring after the first few chapters! Those are a bit redundant! I read the book in a day! Loved the ending!! Absolutely loved it 🤣

First, I would like to thank Ms. Hall for giving me the chance to read her book ahead of time. Hopefully I will get the chance to read more of her ARC come release days.
Anyway! As most know, I am not huge on the fantasy genre and time jumps are also not my favorite but here we are! Sooo I am going to try and step out of my body to review this properly.
The book starts off in San Diego with Avril Farva. Let me start right there and explain that I am not a fan of Avril, however, she is VERY normal. When I say that I mean she is not sugar coated at all and not some damsel fluffy MC with the perfect job and expensive home that no one can afford. I appreciate that and a lot of people will like her. I am just not a fan. Clearly, it didn't stop me from finishing the book, because she meets Theo! Theo is from old timey days, dressed in the whole old school garb. While he's not prince charming either, I just seemed to like him a lot more, even after his story is unveiled. You will shake your head at this. It's impossible not to.
The book is not slow in any shape or form, if anything it moves a little too quickly, but they're still is enough detail that you don't get lost. For me It was kind of a blend of The Buttetfly Effect and Happy Death Day.
This book is most definitely for fantasy readers. I repeat! THIS BOOK WILL BE LOVED BY FANTASY FANS. I can guarentee a fantasy reader will enjoy this far more. It is dark. Y'all know I like dark! It's got a dry sense of humor if you're into that. It keeps things moving and keeps you guessing as to why these two anti hero's are bouncing throughout time watching people die on their last day. From average Joe's to Plain Janes and some other famous faces. The only thing I can say is the whole last page could go. 😂 I said what I said. I look forward to reading more of her work as it releases!
Still, pick up the book. It's out December 30, 2021. Go order your copy now!
